Omirao smiled sheepishly. "Well, yes, with a daughter that adorable it's no wonder you'd be protective. Not to mention you've only just met me..." He almost made of mistake of looking at the baby when she started wimpering, but he caught himself just in time. Then Jiao'lan was setting up to breast feed. Oh, look. Clouds. Grass. Trees...
Though the fairy had about as much sexual interest in the bird-woman as he would for said tree, he felt it polite for her privacy if he didn't scrutinize this particular action.
Upon her spontaneous introduction, he blinked, "Oh! Yes, I heard Keeta when she called for you. My name is Omirao. I'm very pleased to meet you, Jiao'lan, mother of Mi'Ako." His delighted smile would have charmed an ogre.

Keeta, pleased to see that Omirao and Jiao'lan seemed to be getting on ok now, decided she was going to try and get some things going on at the party. She smiled at them before stepping away and heading over to the gaggle of children.
"So....who wants to play freeze dance?!" she asked of Natalia, Joel, Nyoka....and Camille.
The little girl had decided it was safe with Natalia's invitaion and the fact that her mother had decided to head over to that area. The green-haired girl wrapped herself around Keeta. It wasn't a death-grip, just a way of getting comfort.

Jiao'lan beamed. "S'very good to meet you too, Omirao." She said with a nod of her head. Mi'Ako squirmed a little under the blanket and settled down once more. "Oh, and thank-you." She added. "I thought she was one of the most adorable things I'd ever laid eyes on." She chuckled. "But parents are known to be terribly biased. Was it wrong her own joke amused her? She didn't care, at any rate.
"So, how'd you come to meet Keeta or Ceres?" She asked, lofting a brow.
The sliced fruit and cool beverages at the refreshment table were starting to grab the woman's attention every now and again. It wasn't obvious, of course but since they were only a table away...
There was quite a spread of sliced fruit just two steps away. Keeping her eyes on the fairy, to not be rude she grabbed a paper plate and forked a bit of fruit, placing it on the plate. She then forked a piece of pineapple and popped it into her mouth, chewing, lips closed as she made her way back over.

Natalia stood up again and helped the others that were with her. She turned her head and smile to Keeta. "I'll play if you teach me."

Keeta smiled back at Natalia, before stroking Camille's hair.
"Well...it's very simple. I'll put on some music and stand next to the CD player. You guys dance to the music and after it plays for a while, I'll pause it. When the music stops, you stop dancing. If you don't stap dancing when the music stops, you're out! Does that make sense?" She turned towards the grownups for a minute.
"Adults are welcome to join in as well!"

"That sounds simple enough," Natalia said happy that it didn't involve her 'seeing'. She knew she could for the moment but she also knew it never lasted for long...

Omirao's smile softened tenderly, "Mm. You thought right. Forgive me if I don't look at her for awhile, though. It's a bit too early for intoxication."
"Oh, I just moved to the area. I finished Tech school a little while ago, but my new job doesn't require me to be anywhere... So I just looked for a peaceful, pleasant neighborhood I could afford.
I found the GMFC almost immediately, just in time to find the invitations to this party, in fact. Of course, I decided to come. Children, you know..?" he sighed, smiling happily in the direction of a group of youngsters. Then, seeing Jiao'lan move toward the foodstuffs nearby, decided he might as well eat something too. Moving past the returing avian, he picked a plate and speared his own choice of fruit.
Ooh! Bananas!

The Keikancho-Jin woman nodded and thought about what he had said. Was he looking for a child of his own, she wondered? "I'm just thankful I have an excuse to leave the flat, personally...I haven't left since I had Mi'Ako...although that was enough of an outing...it gets lonesome." She explained. "Besides, yes, children are a blessing so fun to be around...especially then they're toilet trained." She added with a soft chuckle.
Mi'Ako made soft noises of displeasure out of her mother's laugh as if to say, 'Muuuuuummy! I don't want a milkshake, stop it!'.
The woman set her plate down for a moment before she began rubbing the infant's back with her free and. Mi'Ako seemed to settle down again. "So were you thinking of children of your own, someday?" she asked, deciding just to ask, and leave it at that before popping a grape into her mouth.

His face crinkled up into an amused grin at her wry comments on parenthood. His smile faded slightly. Well, he wouldn't exactly know. The show's managers had never let him near too many children after that first episode insensible adoration, and colleges had a tendency of being child-free...
Jiao'lan's automatic movement to comfort her baby brought him back from the lonely reveries. He glanced to the bulge of her hand with Mi'ako, expression made difficult to read with a tinge of jealousy. He wanted a baby so badly. A child to raise and nurture and love like that.
But it may be too dangerous. He didn't know ANYTHING about his race that couldn't be discovered by superficial observation. So far as he knew he was male, and an adult, with some abilities and features that set him apart, but he knew there were things about his species he may never know...
What of his qualities were his alone, and which were racial?
His gaze flickered over the rest of the park. What was wrong with him? Why couldn't he just be happy for her joy? He hated being jealous. Such a spiteful, base emotion.
"Oh yes. I... don't know HOW, but I'm hoping. Hoping dearly." he gave her a strangely unhappy smile, but it only lasted for a second before his usual cheer was put back in place.
"Say, how old is Mi'ako, anyways? She looks very young. So do you, for that matter..."

"She's seven days old, today." She explained. "And..oh?" She seemed surprised. "Is twenty-five young to have children where you're from?"
His expression coupled with his comment hit home for her. Jiao'lan let out a soft sigh. "Forgive me, if this is a rough thing to talk about and by all means tell me to shut up...but..." She bit her bottom lip. "The GMFC does wonderful, wonderful things..." A brief pause. "My mate and I...we came from the same ancient ancestry but our current species are very different...uhm...with how we're made..." She began, attempting to find the right words. She couldn't recall the word 'genetically' since she had been speaking it for only less than a year.
"We weren't supposed to be able to...well..." She glanced down to her daughter.
"It was difficult...oh, boy was it difficult...but...they're miracle workers here." She said with awed reverence.
"So...please don't get discouraged before you even start." Her eyes were warm and sympathetic. She had been there, and done that all ready. "I made that mistake, granted it's easy to do...but eventually, I'd bet my life on it that they'll find a way..." She said gently, with a hand still free she reached out to give his a light squeeze.

"Seriously? Wow! I really DID come just in time!" he laughed. Talk about timeliness! "And you're out and about already? Heavens! From what I've heard childbirth is a really rough thing! I'd expect you'd still be abed."
He blinked at her, "You're twenty five? Wow! Shows how much I know at guessing ages.
To be honest, I'm not really from anyplace that deals at all in childrearing, so I wouldn't have any sort of idea how old is proper. I suppose I just figured it to be an age I'd never reach..."
He listened to her story with widening eyes. What..?
Who knew?
Who knew others would know what it was like to be so unsure? Granted, they'd known the details of how their own physical selves functioned, but not how they'd mix!
At her kind gesture, his eyes quickly filled with tears, and he started fidgeting in shy embarassment again. Aww, dang! Trust him to find the kind, straight to the heart people..! <3

Jiao'lan's eyes started to well up as well. She gave a soft slight chuckling smile. "Oh...here I go again..." She said wiping at her eyes. "Well...'really rough' was the understatement of the century...my species lay eggs and my mate's give birth fully formed and ready to go, like most...so I'm still sore but," 'I've stopped leaking gore...' She thought but without missing a beat finished with. "I wouldn't have missed this for the world if I could help it...and again, I love her to pieces but...my mate's away at work all day and well...the conversation's fairly one sided." She said with a smile of bemusement.
A flight feather was balled into a tiny, fat fist and pulled on as the infant started to fuss again. "Oah...child, I need that..." She said, wincing a bit before turning around.
"Someone's impatient..." She explained as she hitched the little girl onto the shoulder opposite the breast she had been feeding on, without exposing herself and re-buttoned her blouse. She then sat on one of the table's benches and pulled an 'urp' cloth out of the bag and positioned it under her head and neck. The infant still had a long, nearly perfect black feather in her hand. It would need a little straightening out, granted, but it wasn't ruined. She carefully pried the plump fingers away and laid it on the table before starting to pat the child's back.
"She sleeps like a rock...so, after this and the assumed, nappy change...would you like to hold her?" She offered, as the little girl squirmed and fussed, her sounds seeming to have more human qualities to them in her post-feeding discomfort as she worked on what would wind up being a gaseous event that even a teenage boy could admire.

Omirao quickly wiped at his eyes when she turned around, a light blush adding even more color to his person. Hey, who said a guy had to be straight to be ashamed of crying? "Wow. I'll bet that was... interesting." he stared at her back as she rearranged her shirt into its proper positioning, smiling bemusedly. Well, there was a tinge of worry in his expression, but that was ridiculous. The event was over and they were both fine, why was he such a worrier?
"I would think most infants would be. I mean, they ARE used to having all their needs taken care of before they even know they need it, in the womb, so having to wait would be very bothersome..."
At her offer his entire being siffened, limbs freezing, wings tensing straight out instead of their usual fluttering ease. "I..? Could I? I've... I've never..." Sudden fear suffused him. Oh, heavens. He wasn't used to such exitement. He'd never held a baby before! What if he broke her? He'd never forgive himself, let alone JIAO'LAN forgiving him!
His voice was, while still at a reasonable volume, noticably shrill, "I've never held a baby! I don't know how! A Baby! Could I? Oh, I want to..!"

Assuming she had all the participants she was going to get for the moment, Keeta put on a compilation CD that included various children's versions of dance songs such as the macarana, the chicken dance, etc. For the moment, it was playing the hokey pokey, although the kids were not necessarily expected to dance the specific moves to the current song. Any attempt at dancing would be considered acceptable. She grinned and turned to watch them, her finger gently resting on the play/pause button so she could push it when the mood struck.
Joel, not really old enough or coordinated enough to dance well merely waved his arms a bit and bent his knees up and down, trying to immitate some of the other children.
Camille, shyly stood there a moment, feeling exposed, and only began to dance after seeing the others start to move, and with the encouragement of her mother.
