"I'm game." Zen declared, while walking a long. He was pretty much done sulking from being violated by the cat woman, but wasn't quite trusting enough of the group to say much more.
The embrassing start relieved tension, but when parrots were involved he was pretty much assured of something going wrong.

Sin smirked and followed the other redhead. Her dark eyes darted to Angela's and the smirk widened.

"Coming, midget?" She darted ahead of Zen before Angela could respond, actually skipping. Her long, knee-length blood-scarlet hair unfurled and flowed in the breeze like a sail, and her obsidian lace dress tossed about messily.

Gypsum facepalmed and shook his head into his hand. He leaned his head back, looking into the sky, and took a deep breath.

"Please, please just ignore her... Angela, was it?" He sighed and rubbed his forehead as he walked in step with the much shorter woman. "She's had a hard time, and while that doesn't excuse...well, it kinda.......she's a b***h." He finished tiredly, frowning and avoiding looking at the person next to him. "Don't let her rile you up, it'll only encourage her."

The Fluff perched on Cheeva's shoulder began humming happily, and practically seeming to glow...probably because it was glowing. It snuggled lazily as it watched its other half run off with the strange, tall redheaded man.

I hope that stupid cow falls into a bloody sink hole, Angela thought. She huffed a frustrated sigh.

"Please, please just ignore her... Angela, was it?" Angela glanced up at Gyp as he offered supportive advice to handle the situation with Sin in a mature, non violent way. His slightly clumsy attempt to encourage her made her smile a bit. She felt the tension diffuse a little and took a deep breath, letting it out slowly.

"She's not worth the energy it would take to beat her smug little face into the ground. Besides she reminds me of my sister somewhat," Angela said, watching Sin skip ahead of Zen. She started after them and the others. "That probably means I really ought to feel sorry for her more than anything." She glanced over her shoulder. "Hey, Fleabag! Inutai! Toshi! Shake a leg! We want to reach those mountains by nightfall."

Seeing as Inutai didn't want to budge from his spot, Toshi merely picked him up and placed the kid on his shoulders, following after the sound of their footsteps. Seeing as they were the only people around, it made it easier to follow by sound alone. He made sure to stay behind the footsteps of the group, not beside, so he wouldn't run in to anything or stray off course.

[Sorry, here...finally.]
Fleabag? Fleabag?! She hadn't had so much as a louse since her childhood. She let out a long breath through her teeth. Be nice. Be nice...nicenicenice. She watched them walk off, absently running her fingers over the stomach of the little fluff-ball. The glowing was interesting. A little concerning if anything chose to hunt them...
She watched the man at the back of the group, followed his halting course with a sharp eye, fingers still tapping against the hilt of her knife.
Blind?
With a sigh, she steadied the critter on her shoulder, she jogged after them, chain mail jangling loudly. Cheeva didn't particularly wish to go with them, but it would be foolish trying to strike out alone. Especially in her current state.
She caught up with the black-haired man and laid a guiding hand on his arm, as gently as she knew how. She looked at the young boy in his arms, eyebrow quirked. The dog smell came from the boy. Shifter?
"I am Cheeva," she said as the fluff-ball began to pick through her hair. "And may I assure you," she raised her voice. "I do not have fleas."

Toshi didn't so much as startle when someone had laid a hand on his arm, as he was used to such behavior. Though, he quickly learned that it was a woman named Cheeva who was guiding him. He didn't particularly care if she had fleas or not, but he supposed it was a good thing.

At the sudden sound, his ears swiveled toward Cheeva while he watched ahead of them, though, his tail was quite still. "I don't have any fleas, either," Inutai piped up from Toshi's shoulders, though he didn't seem to be as enthusiastic as earlier. That run in with that sinkhole sure put a damper in his attitude. He looked down at her. "I go by Inutai, by the way, and I call him Toshi." He patted the eldest one's head slightly to indicate he was talking about him.

Angela snickered softly to herself when she heard Cheeva's assertion that she did not have fleas. "Glad to know that one hit home," she said with a grin. She glanced up at Gyp. "Excuse me," she said. And then quickly caught up to Zen and Sin at the head of the group. "Everyone see that?" she said pointing.

As the group walked, they noticed an area about thirty yards to their right. It was flat, raised ground and it was clearly a road leading from the forest to the mountains they were heading toward. It was a little less than 8 feet wide and was not paved but the dirt was packed flat and it was free of weeds or shrubs. There were deep grooves in the dirt from what appeared to most likely be wagons or carts but no fresh tracks from either horses or people, indicating that it hadn't be used recently.

After traveling a few miles down the road, the group came across the remnants of a destroyed wagon. Broken and splintered wood littered the path. There were a few rusted weapons scattered around and dark patches of brown that seemed soaked into the ground. There were no bodies or bones. Just a few remnants of ripped, stained clothing. Some goods--pottery, flasks of water, and a large purse of silver coins with strange writing, as well as a few other odds and ends that might be of some small value--survived the attack.

"You wouldn't happen to have rabies either?" Zen asked the cat, a bit ticked for being bitten still.
He was stopped from his thoughts when the crew came upon an old sign of human life. The physical remains of a traveling merchant's stock or a caravan perhaps, not a good sign. At the very least there were robbers about, if not a creature of some kind who had dragged some poor wanderer to it's nest for dinner.

Zen stooped over the bits, trying to guess what had happened long ago.

Cheeva glared a the man, Zen. "Ray-bees? What are ray-bees..." she stopped. The leaders of the group, the white-haired Midget and Zen, had stopped and were staring at a spot to the right.
"Everyone see that?" Angela asked.
"Excuse me a moment," Cheeva said to Toshi, patting his arm, before moving ahead of them all, down the packed-dirt road. Cart tracks led off in both directions but they were old. She crouched and ran her fingers through the grooves. Old but once well-used. There was evidence of horses, too, but they were just as old as the tracks.
"No one has used this road for a long time," she said, dusting off her hands as she stood and moved on to the wagon. "A very long time. The scents are all gone."
Gingerly, Cheeva moved through the wreckage of the peddler's wagon. There was blood, but it was old. The scent of death had long gone. That wasn't what concerned her.
"The lack of bodies isn't unusual," she sad quietly to Zen as he crouched over some of the wreckage. "Some animals simply eat every part of their prey. Bones, entrails..." Cheeva tapped the wood with a finger. "This, however, this splintering, is worrisome. Whatever it was that attacked, it was big."
She bent and began gathering up the strewn belongings. "Hmm, good pickings though."

Angela picked up the purse of money and tossed it back and forth between her hands, looking out at the horizon.

"I don't think this was done by thieves," she commented. "A person wouldn't have left behind money or anything else of value." She closed her eyes and ran them gently over the splintered wood. "The echos of their emotions have faded but I can still catch a glimpse of them," she said. Her brow furrowed. "There's some--something dark here as well. Something I've never felt before..."

Her finger caught a splinter, the sudden pain breaking her concentration. She sucked in her breath and nursed her finger, trying unsuccessfully to coax the piece of wood out of the skin. "Bloody hell," she muttered.

The taller man blinked as the girl sprinted a short distance ahead. "Everyone see that?" His eyes followed the sway of her shimmering white hair.

"Oooooh, don't you love the smell of blood in the afternoon?" She called over her shoulder at Zen as the other girl--Angela, she thought-- passed her, closely followed by the cat-shifter. "Not nearly as fresh as I'd like though." Sin crouched and brushed the red-swollen ground with her fingertips, breathing deeply, and her eyes were lit with a disturbing lustful light. She smiled as she continued caressing the ground.

"No one has used this road for a long time..." She ignored the discussion completely contradicting what she'd said in favor of etching patterns into the red-crusted ground in a fascinated fashion.

Gypsum sighed and did his best to ignore his companion as he headed over to help Cheeva, scooping up a couple of what looked like moneybags and what seemed to be an old fire-hardened walking stick... it would be easier to tell if it wasn't completely splattered and soaked in blood. He grimaced at the texture, but it seemed sturdy.

The Fluff hopped off Cheeva's shoulder as she neared the ground, and stopped glowing. It did however, squeak excitedly as it found what looked like a small, rusty object about 3 times The Fluff's length that was (suprisingly) mostly devoid of anything other than dust.

It then proceeded to swallow it whole.

Gyp, who had been crouching near it while examining the staff, shuddered. "I hate it when you do that," he mumbled, and offered a hand out to it, which it accepted and hopped onto. He blinked, straightened, and faced Cheeva as he noticed something. "I see It took a liking to you?" He gestured at her now-healed neck, and It cooed at her as it settled onto her shoulder.

Zen sighed, "Never mind kitty girl." He shook his head, and then the little creepy shrimp child came over.

Zen glared at the girl, with loathing. He had the matter of luck to be seperated from one creep by being teleported here, only to be stuck with a younger female version.
He gave her a look of dispproval, brushing her off as a child and went back to studying the scene. It didn't seem like they travelers had died of starvation or such illness with getting lost... He could also rule out any attack by war, for soldiers would have salvaged some of the pottery and goods which only really left one alternative.
"Some creature attacked them and dragged the bodies off for sure. Let us hurry on, in case whatever it is is still around."

Toshi heard someone, he believed it was Angela, ask if everyone saw something up ahead. Of course, he couldn't see it, but Inutai could and did. Climbing down off Toshi's shoulders, he led Toshi over to the wreckage curiously. He'd never seen anything like it, so was more fascinated by the sight than cautious as he should have been.

Inutai could faintly smell blood, but it was mixed together with a bunch of other smells, meaning it wasn't very fresh at all. He saw all the various things scattered about, but didn't really recognize them to be anything of value (at least to his standards. Either that, he couldn't tell what it was). His ears twitched slightly as he heard Angela curse under her breath. Of course, the smell of newly made blood attracted made him go see what was wrong.

He rushed over to Angela and saw she was messing with one of her fingers. Without asking, he grabbed her hand to lower it down to his level so he could look at it. Seeing the splinter, he frowned slightly. He then smiled slightly, tail wagging happily, as he realized something. "I can get it out for you!" he offered somewhat too excitedly. Without so much as giving Angela a chance to respond, he bite into her finger with one of his fangs, successfully extracting the wood. However, he also drew blood (more so than the pinprick she had before). He knew that because he could taste it, and had to be yanked back by Toshi to stop himself from doing something stupid.

((I hope this is okay. If not, I can edit it. XO))

"Gaaaah!" Angela yanked her hand away from Inutai and the same time Toshi pulled him away, causing the wound to rip open wider. Blood was flowing pretty freely. "That is...an..interesting way to get a splinter out," she commented dryly, watching the blood dripping off her finger. (She had a whole lot of other things she'd like to say, including a few choice words and maybe some disparaging remarks about Inutai's mother but honestly, she was just too tired to listen to the boy cry so she kept them to herself.) She deposited the money purse she'd been holding into her bag as she rummaged for a bandage (she was grateful she always kept some on her. Of course...the reason she always kept some on her was because she had a tendency to get injured, which, she supposed was not a good thing.)

She fished out the bandage and glared at Sin, who appeared to have a rather creepy and intimate relationship with bodily fluids of the bloody variety. "You! Freakazoid. Stay away!" she said, turning away so she could apply first aid to her finger in peace--without dogs, cats or crazy people. She struggled with the bandage, muttering under her breath.

[don't worry Kuro. Actually, I think that post works out peeeeeeerfectly. *plots*] >=D

[PS. I can't recall if I've mentioned the bag before but Angela has had it with her the entire time. I swear it's not appearing out of nowhere. There's not much in it.]
