While he wasn't crashing headlong through the woods, Mik wasn't particularly stealthy, either. It was hard to be fast and quiet running through trees this dense, so he ended up somewhere between the two, probably making just enough noise to give them away.

How much farther until they were out of these things?! It was good cover, sure, but he'd've liked to have some idea of where they were, and where they were going next.

Sei, on the other hand, was just a hair more silent - mostly because he was not moving quite as fast. In one of his looks backward, he could have sworn he had seen something move...

Or did he ? Everything seemed fine now... and it was quite hard to see just what exactly was going on - and while this working in their advantage somewhat, this was also quite detrimental.

"I think I saw something move..." He whispered once he had managed to catch up with Mik again, and looked ahead to see if they where getting anywhere near the end of the woods.

Fortunately for the teens, this was not a very large wood. A few more moments of running would have Mik at least coming out the other side and onto the path again.

Unfortunately, the guard could hear their progress. Southwest he thought as he headed after them, doing his best to keep his spear out of the branches.

Mikhail slowed for a moment to look back...running into a tree because because he wasn't paying enough attention to where he was going was just about the last thing he needed to do right now. However, though his vision was excellent, he couldn't see through things. Whatever Sei had seen, he didn't catch a glimpse of, but assumed he was right and pressed on.

And onto the path! While he waited for his partner to catch up, he looked around to try and determine where to go from here.

It only took a few seconds for Sei to catch up - mostly because he hadn't quite fallen back in the time they had gotten out from the woods - his attention, unlike the redhead's, going to where they had come from, and listening for sounds the best he could.

He could not quite shake the feeling that they where, most likely, still being followed.

The path at this point was wide and branched of in multiple directions, none of which had fencing at this point. To the south it wrapped around more forest. Northward it surrounded a section of ornamental trees and the building's they had avoided earlier. To the west it followed a lake edge. In the middle of the branchings was a circular fenced-in area about ten feet across with a stone pagoda slightly larger than a person in the center.

Despite his best efforts, the guard got his spear trapped in the branches twice. By the time he freed it the second time -managing to cut the branch it was stuck in during the process- the sounds had stopped. The intruders couldn't have gone too far while he was delayed and he knew he could spot them in the open area beyond the trees. He ran to where he last heard any noise.

At this point, Mik was taking it as a given they were being followed, or at the very least looked for. As such, the last thing he wanted was to be out in the open...but at the same time, diving back into a wooded area wasn't his first choice, either. It slowed them down, and while it made it harder for them to be seen, it also made it harder for them to see.

It only took a moment for him to make his choice - to go not into the next section of forest, but skirt southwest along its edge. He assumed, of course, that Sei would keep following him.

And, indeed, this was exactly was Sei did - moving as he noticed the other teen doing so, without much question - he supposed that Mik knew a few more things than he did in this situation.

If he didn't... well...

Sei kept to the rear, both on purpose and due to his lack of speed - the two shields still overlapped on his back. If something tried to shot at them, he would get hit first, and such was his plan.

The guard came out of the trees as both teens headed down the path. Too far for him to stop them and he wasn't about to waste time talking. He cast his spear, aiming for the blond's leg in an attempt to bring one of them down for questioning later.

((Rolling first, note to self you have a -1 don't be a tard. First roll is defense, second roll is Sei's attack))

Unfortunately for the guard, however, Sei seemed to have caught the sound of the spear being thrown - and darted to the left just enough so that it landed on the ground instead of hitting it's intended target.

"Watch out !" He warned Mik, before drawing his guns and shooting toward the direction of the guard - the first shot illuminating the area just enough so he knew how to better aim the second one.

At the sound of Sei's warning, Mik spun around just in time to see him shoot - and hoped that this time, he didn't miss!

((With the +1 for accuracy, the rolls are the same, for convienence's sake I'm saying Sei's attack wins~))

This time Sei's aim was good. The guard had never seen a firearm before and didn't even think of dodging. The shot hit him squarely in the chest; he twitched and fell backward in a heap.

Damnit, it was about time. Maybe it was just the kid's flying path that messed with him before.

Sei did not seem to take much time to savor his small victory, however - as soon as the guard fell back, clearly affected by the shot, he got ready to move on once more.

"Yes!" Mik's approval was quiet, but no less enthusiastic for it. Maybe Sei wasn't so bad at this after all! The incident also reminded him that his knives were still in his pockets, and while he didn't take the time to return all of them to their rightful places, he did retrieve his bowie knife, which had been the most poorly-hidden - and also the most aggravating while he ran.

"How long does that last?" he asked while they set off again.
