sybrid Eva-Pilot Religious people are the most zealous of protesters I know. I hope they don't cause any trouble for this movie. I guess that depends on how blatantly the movie shows its religious themes. They're the most zealous of protesters and mostly what they do is help the movies by making them controversial. You know what book got popular in the USSR after Russia banned religion? The Bible. People are drawn to things they're told they shouldn't go see. I think the worst that'll happen from religious nutjobs protesting Eva is that it'll attract tons of n00bs who wouldn't have wanted to see the movie otherwise and then they'll come and bitterly complain about how Eva sucks without having ever seen the anime, judging it only based on the movie. The world is filled with over-zealous people, and its usually those types that you see displayed in the media. (all forms) And then those people become the treated stereo-type, thus leading to misunderstandings, generalization, and eventually hatred. Instead of looking into matters that may be controversial, its like the super-zealots treat anything new as controversial, instead of analyzing it clearly and calmly to see what it is about. Thanks for the information about Russia! That's pretty neat.

Oh Can we, Major?!?! biggrin :anxious: I dunno, Langley... An manga-ka is a big reponsibility... You'll have to feed him and take him for walks and let him draw the requisite dirty pictures I've become convinced all male manga-ka draw because the real reason they wanted to learn to draw was so they could draw nekkid girls (see also the list of cool manga-ka who did hentai at some point... or just about anything Masamune Shirow has done, ever). Do you think you can handle all that?

I have some info!!! Supposedly, they are getting an all american/british cast--they might change the names because "Wouldn't it be weird if an american chara had a Japanese name?", they are trying to build life-size eva's for the scenes when they are not being used....I doubt Kaworu will be featured...and they are going to try to make the plot a little less controversial.So far, I hear they are scouting --get thiscrap--Hilary Duff to play Asuka, Natalie Imbruglia to play Misato and Haley-Joel Osmond to play Shinji. I almost barfed at this news. Something should be done and Hideaki Anno should direct so everything's not destined to be screwed! scream gonk gonk

Damn Anime Insider for their false information! Damn them!
For those of you who have read or bought the Anime Insider issue regarding the live action Eva movie (hey, I bought it too sweatdrop ), you have all been poisoned. The cast they reported on their cover story were cast picks that THEY believed would best fit the part. Their choices were mainly on physical attributes and not on whether or not the personality matched the character.
For example, Hilary Duff cannot play as Asuka in my mind. Her style in acting is so much more juvenile and simplistic than the story behind Asuka and Eva in general. The very thought of Hilary Duff screaming and stabbing something to death just don't seem possible.

ugh! I hate the idea of them changing anything from Evangelion... 'course, it doesn't matter how much they keep it the same, if the change one thing I won't be satisfied... just like LOTR.
Frankly... I sort of hope they just decide it's too expensive and not do it rather than ruin what they already have! But that's just me... if they do a good job I won't complain much...
And the cast that KelpieMoonPriestess wrote is indeed quite sickening... and if they ever did that... I would kill myself... actually no, I'd kill the director stare go assassin on his/her a** heh! ninja

Fortunately, it's not a real cast list, so we don't need to worry about it. It's about as real as this cast list (that is to say, completely false):
Shinji Ikari - Wesley Snipes
Asuka Soryuu Langley - Kristen Durst
Rei Ayanami - Mary Kate Olsen
Misato Katsuragi - Angelina Jolie
Ritsuko Akagi - Sigourney Weaver
Gendo Ikari - Haley Joel Osment
Now, we can complain how much this cast list sucks and point out all the flaws with it, or ignore it because it's not real and has no bearing on who gets cast for the movie. Is there any point in complaining about the choices on fake cast lists?
Disclaimer: Because I'm afraid someone will take the above list seriously, I just made the cast list in this post up and it is meant to be humorous, if you couldn't tell from the fact that Shinji would appear to be about 20 years older than his dad if that list was used

I have mixed feelings, I think it can be good, but if they screw it up, OH GOD HELP THEM! the Conceptual sketches that Weta (the people from LOTR) did looks promising, except for Asuka, didn't like how they made her look
