Even when I keep so much inside, I never feel stressed about it. People call me 'passive' like that so no biggie. But a thread for that does sound nice. Not like I'll ever post probably because I'm so... calm.

Divine_Malevolence Silent Sympathy Divine_Malevolence Silent Sympathy Divine_Malevolence Silent Sympathy As of late I have nothing really to rant about, ut it seems like a good idea. Though I think the main rule should be that there will be no commenting on any rants to avoid any arguing. Then those who do argue, we just know they want to pick a fight. Half of gettin' stress off is talkin' about it. .... Or so I've found whenever I'm stressed. It'd probably be better to have some commentary, but not have it be negative. True, but there will have to be some way to enforce that. 'Cause there's bound to be someone who will break it. Enforcers there would have to be? Idk, lol. Punishments? Like a strike system. 1st strike gets a warning, 2nd strike gets a temp-ban from guild and 3rd is perm-banned? They maybe to to extreme, but I'm just throwing ideas out there, lol. The OP could just ignore them. No need to kick them out of the guild entirely. (Sorry for the late reply. I needed to put the little ones to bed)
I don't think a lot of people are able to ignore someone who's patronizing/attacking/ or being negative to them. I don't know, I guess we could run a trial thread for a week and see how it works out.

I think Divine means that if a person is put on someone else's ignore list, then that person can't post in their threads. There's no way to temp ban on here - it's either ban or not. Two warnings and a ban, though . . .

-x- CocoNoire -x- Yoru Kurosawa The entire ED/GD is designed to spark debate (a.k.a. arguments) I think we have the ability to walk away from a rant that we cannot behave civilly in, don't you? And since this is meant to be a sort of chatterbox, that would mean that certain rants belong in here, yes? If you can't be helpful in your response, you should at least be mature enough to walk away from the thread. Besides, with the proper rules in place (such as no name dropping), such a forum/thread would prove helpful to those who have something to rant about. If someone doesn't like it, such a person should avoid the thread. There is a reason I avoid the ED. I don't like someone in it, and I got tired of reading his BS. So I stay out of the ED. Likewise, you (or anyone else who doesn't like the idea) should stay out of the thread, should it be made. It's that simple. Debating is different than ranting. Debates are generally mature conversation over a topic. Ranting is not debating. It causes hateful arguments, because generally rants are hateful in nature. Arguments begin where people are immature enough to post something inflammatory. Ranting is actually a form of debating. The original post in a debate is a well structured, well worded rant. It speaks the persons feelings on the subject, backed by beliefs and facts. What usually turns it from what people consider an "argument" to a "rant" is the tone. As I said, if you don't want to read what is posted, you don't have to. No one is forcing you to read what is posted in the thread. And we have moderators, who do their job very well, as I have seen.

It's a bad idea. I don't understand why people are so gung-ho to make their personal complaints public. If you really need that kind of sympathy, you should probably turn to your real life friends.

No, i'm all for an argument I know, i go to Dawkin's website, where intense debates go about It's just that debating gets frustrating, and some people (probably not people in here though) might snap and attack the person. not the subject Which is flaming (ex, if you're talking about abortion, flaming would be, "IF YOU SUPPORT ABORTION, YOU SHOULD GO GET HIT BY A TRUCK", while debating would be, "Well, i think abortion's bad because yada yada yada")

-x- CocoNoire -x- Divine_Malevolence An' if they aren't around? Then wait until they get back, or privately message some close online friends. But you need to get it off your chest at that moment, as the case oft' is? Whilst all your online friends are offline?
