I'm a vegetarian and a college student. It is inexpensive to be a healthy vegetarian. Meat is expensive to me. You buy one thing of tofu and you can make so many meals out of just one. Besides, there are tons of things vegetarians can eat that people don't realize. Vegetarianism is seen as weird in most countries and people make excuses not to except it.

Tree_Beatle_Maiden Thatlatu Panzer Reich I could care less what KFC does to their chickens, I laughed at those PETA videos and GoVeg.com was hilarious to me and my friends, I hunt and fish. I love animals but I like to eat them more. And, as a guy, if I became a vegitarian, I would be a failure of a son and be designated a p***y. Because any guy selling himself to those god damn vegitarian pussies... is a p***y. Pardon me, but I'd like to contradict you there. First of all, insulting people is FAR from necessary; very immature. Secondly, my father is as proud of me as any father could ever be. He supports me 100% in both my vegetarianism and pacifism, and wouldn't be caught dead calling anyone with the discipline it requires to hold steadily as a vegetarian a "p***y". The same goes for everyone else in both my direct and extended family, including my Texan relatives. Thirdly, you ARE a p***y. You give in to what you think others will think of you. It takes one hell of a lot more courage to be a Proud Bisexual, Vegetarian, Pacifist, Environmentalist, Geeky, Loud-Mouthed, Long-Haired, Single FREAK than it does to be SOMEONE LIKE YOU. Wo.Ot!!! Go Thatlatu! I'm only the latter six of those listings, but I'd have to agree. I am a meat-lover, but at the same time I respect the vegetarian doctrine. Just because one way of life is the one that works for you doesn't mean it is the one that works for everyone. confused
And I am against animal cruelty, but at the same time animals eating other animals is a crucial part of nature. In nature, though, animals are killed with dignity and respect. As long as humans stick to that tradition, I don't see anything wrong with it. Yeah, lots of people like meat, but I don't miss what I can't remember having, and it's been a long time since I've eaten meat and liked it. Going veggie is usually really hard at frist unless you're lower-middle class and live alone, or really rich, but soy is cheap, eggs are cheap, and ramen is cheap. Between those and some apples or oranges, you have a good, cheap way of living, and you don't ever have any reason to want meat, because those all rock my socks. Vegan can be really hard if you're not upper middle-class or higher. Yeah, all the people who I think are cool are against animal cruelty. If I thought it was necessary, I wouldn't refuse to eat meat if I knew it was raised in a caring fashion and killed in a humane manner, but, unless it's 100% necessary (like...if I'm dying of malnutrition and need a truckload of protein or I'll die...) then I won't eat meat, because almost all the meat Americans eat is either unhealthy or raised/slaughtered in an inhumane fashion. I've decided to join the currently unorganized "United Church of Tree-Huggers and Vegetarians", so I can A) Have a quick reason for not eating meat (religion), and B) Organize it.

Like if I said MOST countries hate homosexuals. It's still true, even though Canada, the Netherlands, and a few other countries all are quite homosexual-friendly, and Japan is like...crawling with homosexuals... Best thing about vegetarianism? With all the money you save by eating soy, corn, and rice products, you can afford to get EVEN MORE soy products! (like soymilk!)

No problem, hun. heart I think arguing about what someone else eats is rude and nosy though, so...I simply advise against red meat and poultry (although eating fish is okay) due to the diseases and whatnot that they almost always cause. Besides. Who'd it steak, when they can get tofeak for a fraction of the price?

Durango Bloodthirsty, obese Middle America; I guess. sweatdrop Yeah, it seems so. The funny thing is, hardly anyone around here is like that at all. Everyone is like...healthy, even the stupid tree-hating assholes whom I so despise.

I've been a vegetarian for a little over a year and a half (2 year aniversary in May!). It's kind of fun/special since I live in Texas. Plus I've got family that raise cattle in Kansas so they don't get the vegetarian thing.

Hah, I've got cattle-raising family too. I'm at least happy that they at least farm in the traditional way. I believe in animal rights for the most part, but the #1 reason I'm a vegetarian is for the environment.

My boyfriend and his parents are vegetarians.
I've been trying to lean towards vegetarianism, but it's kind of difficult, especially when my parents plan so many meals with meat as the main dish.
I've been able to give up beef and pork, but I still sometimes eat chicken.

I've been able to give up beef and pork, but I still sometimes eat chicken. Hey, that's where I started. I've recently also decreased the amount of seafood I eat. I only eat it about 5 times a month now, so I should be able to transfer to being a full vegetarian in a year or so without any major changes to my lifestyle.
