Kember noticed the shift in the herd's attitude at just about the exact same time as the lightning and the noise. Their panic seemed to seethe into him, and he let go of the plant he'd been pulling on to stand on his tippy-toes and try to see what was going on. Unfortunately, there was a lot of buffalo between Kember and, well, everything else, so he couldn't see. The herd had already begun to shift, and Kember knew full well he wouldn't be able to keep up with them once they got going. Best to get out of the way, but he was insulated on all sides by increasingly agitated Buffalo.
So Kember did the next best thing - climbed on the back of the young creature that he was friendly with. Not that he had any control, whatsoever. Besides, he was small enough that the young buffalo didn't seem to mind. Kember was planning on hanging on or dear life, at least until he got to a place where he could jump off without beingtoo seriously harmed. Were anyone with sharp eyes to look out over the buffalo herd, they may see that one of the buffalos seems to have a misshapen, white back (though really, it's just Kember).

Dew waited a few seconds for Starsong to move off, then she too moved toward her position opposite the other elfess. She wasn't sure if she was even with her, as she had lost sight of the huntress soon after Starsong took off. Still, she figured she was in a good position to run down one of the herd, as Savith wanted her to do. Just as she was shifting hher weight, making it easier for Morningtail to make a sprint, the wolf shifted his own. Dew looked up, confused, to see the herd already running. She didn't know if that meant the plan was already on. She urged her wolf-bond into motion and broke through the trees just as Savith sent out his wordless halt. Surprised, Dewpaw relayed the message to Morningtail quickly, and in a few steps, the wolf had stopped his sprint. however, the two were still outside the treeline and in open area.

Creek waited where Savith left him and watched the stampeding herd. Something wasn't right, he knew that. His tribe had caused stampede's before, to get the stragglers seperated. But he knew no one in the hunting party had caused it, and usually, the large beasts weren't the stampeding type. They only did so when threatened. He thought maybe the lightning had scared them, but that wasn't enough. They had to have smelled predator or something, that was all he could think of. *What do you want us to do now, Chief?* he sent to Savith, waiting for orders as he prepared an his bow, knocking an arrow in case he needed to shoot on an instants notice.

Savith squinted into the forming dust cloud the large beasts threw up with their hooves, frowning. He spotted the white thing on the back of one, confused slightly. As he gained height, he took in the shaper's information, turning to look in the direction her mind implied. Too tall for most elves. Too dark for gliders. **I need one calm head to join me, and another stronger sender to see about someone riding the back of the beasts we were hunting. If they are bond-beasts, we'll have to find other prey.**

Fire Bright watched the big running herd with wide eyes and a twitching tail. He was ready to run but Dancer held him back. She wasn't sure how long it would take for him to just let instinct get the better of him but for the moment he was good. *What do you need Savith? What can I do to help?* Her mind called to his as she took it upon herself to be the one to come help him. Keeping tight hold of the large cat she slowly made her way to find him in the dust cloud. She had to take it easy to keep the beast under her from getting to excited to fast.

A strong sender. Autumn looked into the dirt and dust. Her mind and eyes seeked out the someone Savith spoke of. It took time. It seemed like forever in a heartbeat but the form was found. Her mind focused on the person alone. If it was elf (unless a mind dead elf like Pey) they would her her. *You there on the beast! If you hear me you are elfin and we must know if the animal you ride is a bond creature. Otherwise we intend to take a few.* The send ergint and filled with wanting. The wanting of food. The wanting of an answer. The wanting for them to find yet another elf alive.

Savith galnced at those mounted, then Creek Runner near him. **Keep back for the moment. This is grassland. I think the plains-elf would be the best choice, in case these are of his tribe. Be ready to ride to us, however, should we call.** He looked at Creek and nodded, **Let's go.**

The send from Autumn caused Kember to nearly fall off the (now galloping) beast he was riding. His head swung around frantically, trying to locate the sender, but in the mass off moving creatures he wasn't able to see much. **Wha--?** came his initial reply, then, just as eloquently, **Bond??** It was a few moments before Kember could collect himself enough to keep himself atop the stampeding buffalo and respond - it had been what seemed like ages since he had sent a word, and after all this time, the emotions were intense. The feeling of longing in the send struck him too - it was almost too much, especially combined with the fearful near-panic of the beasts.
But the gravity of the situation came through as well. And Kember knew how he reacted to a hunt. **Please, let me get clear of the herd first, before you strike!** the send is open but directed toward the one who sent to him, and filled with a similar hope that he'd found other elves, as well as being worried about his situation on the back of the galloping creature, and a little something else - holding back the deeper reason why he wished to get clear of the herd first. He attempted to nudge the beast toward the edge of the herd.
((Rolling 1d10 to see how he does - 1-3 not good, stuck galloping with the herd 4-7 okay, but slow going 8-10 it's like he's ridden a buffalo through a stampede before -- Nice, a 9!))

Her mind receiving the send Autumns heart leaped as her mind flew as swiftly to Saviths mind. *There is an elf on that creature out there. He wishes to be out of the way before we make our strike. If you could help him I'm sure he would be grateful.* She never took her eyes off the pale blob that clung to the young animal as she sent to Savith. She so wished she could be down there. Still what she was doing she new held importance. *Hold tight there and we will help you out of the tempest. Everyone will be overjoyed to know another elf lives.* Now her send was controlled and very calm. Her faith in the others to help him seemed strong. It also held a bit of excitement at yet another new elf.

"Trolldung," Savith snapped aloud as Joy's thought flickered across his mind. He turned to Creekrunner, mind lashing to the group. **Creek, go see who spooked the herd. Take Starsong with you, in case they are not friendly. Dancer, be ready in case anyone was hurt. Joy, I'm on my way. Keep giving me location until I can get a lock on that mind.** And without further ado,t he glider took to the sky, pulling himself up and above the grassland.

((Rolling to see if human 1 or human 2 see the floating Savith through the dust kicked up by the buffalo... 0-10 DON'T see something human-ish flying, 11-20 DO see something human-ish flying - Got a 1 and an 18!))
The two humans are walking rapidly back along the same path the came, knowing they will miss the majority of their party's hunt, but hurrying so that they will be able to help out with the slaughter and transport. The younger one glances up and does a double take.
>>"Hey, do you see that?"<< he asks his friend, nudging him and pointing at the distant, but clearly human-shaped thing hovering above the herd. The second hunter glances up, but doesn't see the floating elf from his stance, not through all the dust, and replies, >>"No, now don't be silly, we have to hurry up so we can help, come on."<<
In the distance, the other humans have their trap readied and have taken their positions. With a little luck a few of the buffalo will scatter off the herd and stumble in the ditch, incapacitating them long enough for the humans to make a kill or possibly even two.

Keeping her mind locked between Savith and the new elf Autumn sent to Savith what he needed. The new elf's location. She would part of a bit of her mind to call to him now and again just to be sure he was ok. *You there on the animals someone is coming to help you. Hold tight and be ready to go swiftly.*

Savith's mind locked onto the position he was given and he took off, flying straight and true toward the 'rider' on the buffalo. As he grew near, his eyes found the elf, and he let the hold he had on Joy's mind go, no longer needing it. His mind shot ahead, to the elf in trouble. **I'm going for you. When I give the ready, I need you to let go,** he sent.

Kember held fast to his "steed," and was out of the thick of the stampeding herd by the time Savith located him - which was a good thing, because the animal was not yet full grown and would have made it more difficult to lift Kember off. Still, Kember was win a zone where jumping off the animal would be a sure way to get trampled, so any assistance was welcomed.
**Thank you,** he sent simply to the mind that had first touched his, after all this time, and then **I am Kember...**
Before he could send anything more though, Savith sent to him with all the feeling of a chief's stern order, and so he replied to the second mind instead, **Yes. I will,** with all the serious tone of obeyance. He looked around, but as Savith was essentially above him (and Kember hadn't expected air transport), he didn't see Savith's approach. **Where are you?**

Without orders, Dew wasn't sure what to do. She figured that she was meant to stay put, since Savith hadn't told her to do anything else, but the wolf under her was getting restless. He saw meat, as she did, in the large beasts. *Hold* she sent to her bond, keeping him from running. She listned in on the sends shooting around from elf to elf, but made no comment. Instead, she chose to watch as Savith flew over the herd and also kept an eye out for Creek and Starsong, in case they needed help. She glanced to where she thought Creek was and quickly sent to the plainsrunner, *Do you need a lift? Morningtail can carry you.* what she didn't send was that Morningtail could carry JUST him, but she figured she'd mention it only if he took her up on the offer.
