Veaka Followed, moving without stopping, even when the bark scraped her fingers until they bled.
She felt that she'd lose her way the moment she stopped following the cat's path... and this was an odd sensation for her, a forest child all her life.

Orina Fluttered along, struggling to keep up. Then she reaized that, if she beat her wings a certain way, she could move much faster...
This was very helpful.
She saw the bonfire first, though Veaka leapt to the ground only a few seconds after, having seen it.
Was this a marker? it was almost obscene to Veaka. But... at the same time... It was like a forest fire. Wild.

Dear gods. This was a side of kaiba she had never seen before.
He had a girlfriend, did he? it was...
Yoske refused to think about it, or about Triton's reaction, just focusing on her movement.
It was no use. Mental images she'd rather not imagine popped into her head.
She grit her teeth and clambered as fast as she could, driven by a sense of urgency.
The mental images got worse and more gruesome. Did she really want to think about how the two would...
"Damn it Kaiba..." she muttered, almost losing her grip on the branch, grimacing.
Great. she had said it out loud. now she had just blown her cover.

Really though. She was a Wraith or a shade. It didn't matter, she still had her body, although she was afraid to peek at her face or skin for fear of what she would find.
She didn't want to know or care about how... reproduction occured, could occur at all, or even be attempted with two incorporeal entities...

ergh... the mental images were enough to make the most elite Garo or the most hardened warrior react.

She hoped that her mutter hadn't blown her cover.
Although... she palmed one of her snakefang daggers.
Something seemed to be here, if that bonfire signified anything, and if there was fighting, she'd have to reveal herself anyway.

Triton followed, thinking he'd heard a rustling in the leaves, ignoring it for a moment as he noticed others beside him. Then it erupted..the fire, he had to shield his eyes for a moment before watching in awe..it was, fantastic, frightening. A whole bunch of other admirable F words that he couldnt quite bring to mind at the moment."Quite a showy cat aren't you" triton said softly, hardly noticing whether kaiba were still following him or not, he knew the poe would keep pace and catch up eventually. Besides with this blaze going on in the middle of the forest it wasn't like anyone could miss the spot they were to meet at!

For once, he didn't care that he had no map of this place. Nor that his guide had probably never ventured in here, it was a true adventure for once.

Kaiba gave whinnie another light tug, grinning as he led the banshee along. A small snicker caught in his throat as the sound of a moving branch caught his attention, head whipping back gaze straight up into the branches above, just this most evil little sneer on his face. Though he couldn't see who he was looking at, merely a trace, a light shadow the poe could very well guess. Oh was he loving it! The poes grin could only widen, flashing those evil sharp little teeth of his before setting his sights back on the challenge before him, the large fire that lit the way in the distance signaling them..Oooh it made him tingle! This was going to be so much fun.

Journal

Sun shown through the trees and dappled the ground in patterns. Birds chirped intermittently among the cicadas' song. A fine day to be alive, as it had been observed several times though the day. Over the trees, not too far away, a cacophony of birds erupted into flight and a plume of flame briefly touched the sky. Two pairs of eyes and a ball of light looked up from lunch. The owners of the eyes shrugged at each other and went back to lunch. The ball of light picked up a pair of pebbles and hit the two with them.

"Don't just go back to lunch! We have to check it out!" Pinkin swirled around Soti and Tonberry and their shoulders shrank.

"Do we have to?"
"Do we...have to?"

"Yes we have to! Come on, come on, come on!" The swirling continued. Looking at each other through the flying pink, Soti and Tonberry swallowed the last of their sandwiches in resignation.

"Alright, alright, let's go..." Soti mumbled through a full mouth.

"Don't talk with your mouth full!" Pinkin yelled as she flitted though the trees towards the flames reflecting crimson onto the sky.

They didn't find the...very odd troupe of wanderers until they were almost upon them, an observation Pinkin tried to keep a secret until Soti noticed and grabbed the fairy as she and Tonberry ducked behind a tree and a bush, respectively.

"See, there's people there, we can go back." Soti whispered into the wriggling fairy between her hands.

"But there's a cat on fire up there!" The fairy hissed. "They might need our help!"

Tonberry stared out at the wanderers though the leaves of his bush. Blinking, he looked up at Soti and Pinkin. "Can I...doink them?" He asked in his slow, halting speech.

Soti considered the wanderers that had just passed by them, a tall, blonde Hylian and a very odd-looking gray poe tugging along an ephemeral white creature. Soti looked back at Tonberry. "Sure, why not."

"No you cannot doink them!" Pinkin hissed, a little too loudly. Soti nervously sucked in a breath and cupped her hand over the indignant fairy. She considered poking her head around the tree to see if anyone heard, but figured if they didn't hear, or perhaps heard and chose to ignore, Pinkin just might let them go back to their quiet part of the forest.

Lilli looked around, others had come to gather at the strange fire. It did have a certain allure to it... She guessed they all felt it...

The flames crept quickly and efficiently all over the mount. Once it was done burning, it seemed to extinguish all on its own. The Cat was gone as well, but it was clear what they had to do now that the fire was gone.

The mound of shrubbery and vines had been covering an aged old door. It was circular in shape, about two human height in diameter. Heavy, rusted chains hung around it, with one snapped-- an important one that kept a door that laid in the middle shut. Various seals, some ripped and some not, was stuck to various parts of the entrance way.

The door in the middle was thrown open. A heavy metal lock was lying not too far away, rusted as well.

"Come." A voice demanded far below with impatience and glee, but certainly not the purring, soft voice of the Cat, or was it?

Whinnie lets herself get dragged. 'Why was she doing this?' "KAIBA! Slow down, and why would I do this again? Riches, I don't believe in corporal materials. And for fun? I don't deserve fun. I deserve my eventual death. And- Its a door." she cuts herself off while looking at the door. "Where does it go? Kaiba? Come on, tell me!" she demands while carefully touching the door. She answers the question with her actions. Curiousity. Ironically show to her by a cat. A flaming cat.

The crow leaped from branch to branch in chase of the cat; stopping suddenly as the flame engulfed the feline, its extinction leaving behind only the mound upon which it had sat. Upon the mound lay a door, circular in shape, with a delightfully aged smell. The aroma of rust swam to Melis’s nostrils, drawing her closer. With a crawl that closely resembled that of reptilian species, Melis scaled the spherical door frame until she reached the crest. She breathed in again, detecting delicate scents mixed with tangs of odor she had never detected before. With a tug of interest she disappeared through the structure and out of view, chasing an unseen target.

"Eh come now woman theres no way I can know where its going to lead..Ah..hee hee..actually I do" kaiba smirked giving whinnie a pat on the arm. "It must lead to the great evil the demonic cat spoke of, this creature with a horrible pained screech! You enjoy destroying evil dont you my beloved? This should be perfect for you then" glad to see her curiosity perked to the idea, she seemed generally anxious and excited about the door..

"A door.." triton heaved a quiet sigh, trying to ignore his poe..and his poes..beloved's voice as he focused on the thing. The beckoning call was hard to resist really. "This will only lead to trouble" and yet he smiled at the thought of it, though he would not be the one to push the dreaded hunk of wood open. "Well whoever wants to go first feel free to lead the way"

Soti's curiosity got the best of her and she leaned further around the tree. The fire and the burning cat were gone, but now a door?

"There's no kokiri here you know." Pinkin murmured in a very matter-of-fact tone from inside Soti's hands.

Soti opened a finger and shot her a look. "We are not going to go just barging into a group of strangers, I don't care how much you want to socialize and do all that crazy-" Her irritation was cut short when she noticed Tonberry shuffling around, or rather through, his bush towards the circular door. Both Soti and Pinkin watched in shock as the small green poe struggled through the small branches to trip out the other side. Pausing for a moment to straighten his robe, he lifted his lantern and knife and continued his slow shuffle towards the door.

Tonberry had felt his options limit themselves as soon as they came upon the strangers; they were all once again taller and faster than he was. It just wasn't fair. Even the ones almost his size were clearly too fast. But that door...that door down into the darkness, it was perfect. In the pitch black he could sneak up on something, maybe even the pink thing that crawled in there. With his lantern, he might be able to finally doink something down there in the darkness. He made it to the front steps before he saw Soti's brown shoes step up next to him. Looking up slowly, he saw her staring down into the darkness absently, eyes darting around to the crew around him.

"I guess I...you know...come with you or whatever..." She mumbled, keeping so close to Tonberry he had to shift his tail to keep her from stepping on it.

He reached out with a free finger from his lantern and tugged gently on her boot. "Darkness. Come....on." He shifted and poked a few experimental doinks into the shadows as they covered them.

"Well now!" They both paused and turned at Pinkin's excited interjection. She wasn't even talking to them. She was at the door, talking to the strangers still outside. "Looks like we'll be first then! If you want to come along hurry up, it'll be really exciting!" She was far too excited in Soti's opinion.

Soti looked out at the tall Hylian, the one most similar to her form and probably her best bet to turn her in. Of all the times Pinkin had tried to get them into 'social' situations, it was Tonberry who had gotten them all into a crowd. "Or you just couldn't, you know, if you don't want. We're ok on our own." She shot Pinkin a look as she sidestepped further into the darkness after Tonberry.

Kaiba couldnt help but snicker "Wonderful, you three have fun with that! If something eats you make sure to scream nice and loud for us so we know okay!" kaiba said in his most cheerful happy voice, nearly giggling as he finished his sentence.

"By the love of the fates! We're going to follow them you know" triton wheeled on the poe, giving him such a glare, honestly wishing he could stomp on his demon guide.

Kaiba yelped quietly his playful poish voice cackling eerily as he vanished for a moment easily evading tritons kick. Reappearing behind the man "Oh come now triton its all in good fun! I swear, I don't want them to be eaten..heh nor us of course so.." the poe trailed off waiving his lantern a bit as he floated there grinning.

"So your going to follow after them, oh great guide?" triton sneered his look rather threatening. "I suggest you start glowing and get going kaiba"

"Eeeh, me!" the poe gasped snarling at the notion.

"Yes you!" giving kaiba a shove with his foot, watching the poes lantern flare up brightly in anger.

"Oooh, I hope whatever's at the end of this darkness gnaws off your limbs!" the poe hissed, turning his back on his hylian companion grumbling as he took his first step into the darkness.

"Why me.." triton groaned and for the first time looked to whinnie. "What do you see in him? Honestly?" though he didnt doubt she was just as crazy as the poe..maybe just as mean to.

After entering through the door, there was only darkness to be seen. The air was cold and damp, smelling of water and mild decay. Light filtered through from the open door, but it seemed to strike a magical darkness and was thus unable to continue to light the area. Calm wind blows through at them in an eerie fashion from a downward direction.

Suddenly, the wind grows chaotic! Torches from the walls suddenly flare to life. There are three directions to go in from the entrance, all leading down towards the left, middle and right.

"Come," the same voice calls, from all directions.

Whinnie follows Kaiba inside. " I don't like destroying evil. I like warning people of what the will come to face in there last moments. Eternally saving lives." she tosses at him yet she wants to know what is going on as she follows him in.

Whinnie looks at Triton with empty socket. "I don't" she simply answers. Before yanking on him and dragging him with. "Now come to damnation with me." she utters with a smile.

When the approach the three way Whinnie barks out. "Pick Kaiba. It doesn't matter. Now come on." she urges. She just wanted to get on with it.

"Yoske..if your around" triton whispered to himself, knowing the skilled tracker that his friend was she would easily be able to follow them, find her way along. This was something he could have used her help on though..
Blinking as they stepped into the darkness, what once was so still and murky, the place had an almost soggy feeling to it, suddenly taken over by the chaotic winds. The torches flaring to life brought new light to the situation, more choices, the cat was truly mad leading them on like this, it was impossible to tell which path led where. Caught off guard as the banshee spoke to him, he hadnt noticed before that she had no left eye, now that he did though her little quip made sense, he actually found he rather liked her even. "We'll kaiba..you heard the woman, pick" he didnt know why he was leaving his fate up to the poe like that, kaiba had been his guide for so long though that it just came naturally.

"Alright alrigt I'll pick!" the dark little poe sighed, methodically going up to each tunnle observing it before moving onto the next and so forth.."Hmm..Left always leads to bad luck, and the middle seems far to obvious for the cat to have had something down there..ooh but right is what people always choose..hmm" the poe pondered, grinning after a moment. "Enni, meeni, minii moe..." he rhymed off murmuring the little song his finger pointing to the left entrance.
"Well to the left we go then! Hee hee bad luck or not" he only hoped it would be the right way..ah well if not they
would simply turn around and head back.

Soti shot a look back at the odd little poe and stuck out her tongue. Though she doubted the poe would see, she felt a pinch on her cheek and Pinkin's irritated growl.

Descending down into the darkness, the few sources of light seems choked and dimmed. Pinkin, Tonberry's lantern, even his eyes seemed to lose some of their luminescence. Soti gasped at the sudden wind and almost knelt down to Tonberry. Pinkin let out a cry of surprise and flitted into Soti's collar. Tonberry stopped his shuffle downwards and noticed that, of course, the strangers from the clearing were speeding ahead of them. He then noticed that he could see them. Lanterns had lit along the walls, revealing that the downward path ended in a choice of three corridors. The other strangers, the tall one, and the two shorter ones had taken to the left by the time Soti, Tonberry, and Pinkin made it to the level area. Pinkin popped out of Soti's collar and danced at the front of the left corridor.

"They didn't even ask for our opinion, those...meanies!"

"I think you're the only one who's not ok with traveling by ourselves, Pinkin." Soti rolled her eyes and peered down the middle tunnel. "If that poe did know what he was talking about though, the middle and right seem to be safest..."

Tonberry continued to walk after reaching the level area and reached the wall between the middle and right corridors. Soti and Pinkin watched in curiosity as he stopped, looked down each way, and looked at the wall again. Soti bit her lip as she watched. Some kind of poe compass, or tracking ritual, or...Tonberry looked squarely at the wall before him and poked his knife at the wall twice, shuffling back as a few pebbles fell. He looked a the pebbles a moment and looked back up at a very confused Soti and incredulously silent Pinkin. "More people...use right way? More people...to doink." He nodded resolutely and turned to the right side. Soti watched him shuffle for a moment and looked at Pinkin as she passed.

"Sounds like good logic to me." She danced cheerfully above Tonberry's head. Wondering if she was the only sane one of the three, Soti hurried forward into the corridor. Oh well. They were doing something interesting, and doing it by themselves. Win-win.
