Vlaityn had to crack a smile at Lori's antics even if she was still seething as Xurdion on the inside. She knew it was wrong, but she just couldn't bring herself to hardly put up with the boy.

'If he didn't have a decent throwing arm, I'd....'

Vlaityn shook her head abruptly. No, venomous thoughts were not the way to go at all. Instead, she laughed at the seamlessly endless storage of confetti Lori has squirreled away.

That is until she noticed another figure approaching, a boy named Jordan, unless Vlaityn was much mistaken. And he seemed to have quite the passion to play. Maybe it was his enthusiasm that made Vlaityn's smile even broader.

"The more the merrier?" She quipped happily. Then she saw the new Jason boy grab for his wand.

"HEY, SQUIRT. You pull out that wand all the way and I'll make sure you won't sit on a broom for years." Snarling angrily, Vlaityn couldn't fathom the pure rudeness the boy was showing towards the hopeful Jordan. He just wanted to play, absolutely no reaosn to fight over a position neither of them had! Ridiculous, truly.

As the newcomer showed up at the mock practice, Amelia noticed Jason starting to get green with envy. She knew that Jason was concerned about the other boy getting the position of keeper but instead of battling it out for the spot, the young Ravenclaw decided to take out the competition permanetly. Whipping out her wand, Amelia shouted,"Oh no you don't kid, EXPELLIARMUS!" Jason's wand soared into her hand, and Amelia immediately pocketed it inside her robes. "No rough housing here and if you plan to be a part of this team you best start playing by the rules. If not you can clear off now." 'Arrogant American ba%*ard.' Amelia thought to herself. "Hey Jordan, I'm Amelia Rochelle this team's chaser. What made you decide to try out to be keeper? I remember you from the last couple of tryouts, you were pretty good so its kind of a shock that your back trying out instead of already being one of us." .....

Lori grinned as she began to chuck the last of the confetti at Jordan, the only one who had been confetti free, before dropping the empty bag on top of the previous one. "So, now that that's over," she said, trying to take out some confetti that had landed in her hair. Lori whistled a few notes from 'Can You Feel the Love Tonight' from the Lion King. Digging through her pockets, Lori took out her snitch and two golf balls, beginning to juggle them. Looking around, she flew over to Jordan. "Which one's the snitch?" She said casually, catching and holding out the snitch and the two golf balls.

As Jordan grew closer Jason kept growing more and more envious. Then as the threats to potentially "kill"him came he tried to shove his wand back into his pocket, but Amelia used the spell Expeliarmus and took his wand. This angered Jason beyond normal reason, but he stayed put and didn't tell he was just trying to make sure he didn't get beat up in the first place. He just stared at the other guy trying out for keeper, pissed beyond what he normally reached in potential anger and envy

With a rather mock sarcastic look on his face, Joel looked at the Jason kid, rather unhappy that he didn't know who he was.
"How insulting! I am the most beautiful Ravenclaw boy here, how can you not know who I am? I'm liked by almost all, and if you want to be part of the team, I'm worth talking too. However, we have a sixth year trying out for keeper, and...Well kid you have to show some serious skills to get the place." I doubt it, but you never know.

As Vlaitlyn threw the Quaffle in between him and Lori, Joel rolled his eyes.
"Vlaitie sweetie, I'm a beater, not a chaser. There is no way in candyland that I am chasing after that thing with my hands. Who knows where it's been? I sterilize my bat rather often, so I know where that has been. I smash things, I don't catch." With a rather silly smile, Joel looked at his fingernails, trying to prove to Vlaityn that he was partly joking, but he was serious about not going after the quaffle.

Joel did a spin on his broom, swiftly placing his bat in his mouth and grabbing the broom by his hands, turning so it looked like a single monkey bar in the air. Trying to be as graceful as possible, Joel floated down to the ground where everything was happening, glad that at least a few people knew who he was.

Seeing the Jordan boy, Joel smiled rather widely.
"JORDAAAAN!" His words had quite a high pitched whine, more excited than anything. However, when he screamed his name, the bat fell to the floor with a thunk.
"Where have you been sweet pea? I've been looking forward to seeing you for a while!" Running over to Jordan, Joel wrapped his arms around his waist, glad that there was another rather attractive boy there in the mix.

Seeing Jason reach for his wand, Joel's expression immediately dropped.
"Kid, if you even attempt to hurt this lovely ball of sexy wonder, I will personally rape you in your sleep. Ask a few of the people here, I'm not afraid to do it."
Luckily, right after finishing his sentence, Amelia took his wand away, and Joel went back to his excited self. After a fe moments, still wrapped around Jordan, Joel let go and went skipping over to Amelia, his grin wider than almost humanly possible.

"Great job sweetheart, but you should let the men...Or attempt at men handle this. You don't need to worry your pretty little head." With a charming smile, Joel stood to his full height, almost towering over most people there.

"Kid. I am Joel Ryan Callendente. I am the oldest quidditch player here, and the least likely to become captain, however, that does not mean that you can disrespect me, or anyone else on the team. If you do, I will take it personally, and I will do something unexpected." Immediately becoming more serious, Joel turned to the forth year, a rather uncharismatic frown covered his brow as he tried to get this message through to the young Ravenclaw. It was one of Joel's rare moments of pure seriousness, the last one of those had happened back in early December when he wound out his mother died, and after that when he went home for a few days to an empty house.

"Now, we all need to relax, and get things under control. We are here to play Quidditch, not fight each other. Not lest play some quidditch!" With a simple whisper, and holding his hands out, Joel's bat and broom went flying into his hands, his smile back on his face.

Vice Captain

PostPosted: Fri Feb 13, 2009 11:25 am

Strolling lazily across the lush grass, her feet bare so each toe could squish pleasantly across the soft blades of green and leave their imprint in the soil beneath, Kani felt her skin prickle in nostalgia and regret. Life looked less beautiful since she gave up her passion. Even the bright blue sky that was blinding to look straight at seemed to lose its wonderous quality. How could it not, when it wasn't in Kanita's ability to join her long time friends and mates in the splendor of flying through the ocean of clouds and sky. After having been the sacred Ravenclaw Keeper for five years, the best five years of her life, the memory of the smooth, wooden broom handle was still too fresh. And much too painful. For a moment, the conflicted girl halted in her steps and nearly curled into a ball. As if it would protect herself from the onslaught of memory and hurt.

A single tear managed to escape down her cheek, only to be kissed away by the gentle wind, all evidence of her saddness erased in that moment. It wasn't like Kani to feel so vunerable. She was a confident witch, a strong witch.. wasn't she? 'I don't know anymore...'

Rather then dwell on the hidden problems that caused her to quit on her fellow Ravenclaw Quidditch members during her very last year at Hogwarts, the girl forced the corners of her mouth to curve into what she hoped resembled a smile. Perhaps she could find momentary happiness through watching her mates happily flying about. Perhaps... perhaps she'd feel the wind's fingers threading through her own hair, like an old lover, by simply watching its affair with her friends.

Or maybe it'd just cause Kanita Doyle even more pain. But that little thought wasn't about to keep her away. The lure of possible happiness was too much a temptress.

Finally drawing close enough to be able to make out each individual on the field before her, Kani stole a deep breath and swallowed. And swallowed. Suddenly her throat felt very dry. Working up a bit of saliva to moisten her tongue and lips, the words that stood at the cliff of her voice finally fell. "Hey you guys!" A shock ran through Kanita at hearing how joyful she actually sounded. 'I really have missed them.' That plastered smile melted into one of sincerity. '... really missed them.'

At least now she knew that no one would be the wiser, for in this moment, Kani's eyes did have that old spark. The very one that glowed from deep within, glowed so much that it had to be released in some way, by shining from the soul of her irises. Anyone who took the time to look would be able to see it. But it wasn't as if anyone knew that she had lost herself in the first place, so the change wouldn't be noticed. All that would be seen was Kanita Doyle, as she had always been.

"Hope you don't mind if I just sit and watch for a bit. I needed a bit of air, been stuck reading in my stuffy room all day." A lie. "And I've been wanting to see the possible prospects for my old position." This part was true though. And with those words, her expression turned to one of calculation as she took in the two wizards before her, waiting to make judgement once they took flight. One boy, Jordan by the screams of Joel, was a familiar face. But Kanita's mind wasn't an organized one so she couldn't exactly pick out where she knew him from. 'Merlin I'm a mess. But an energetic, still partially happy mess. Which is better than what I could have hoped for.'

Jason saw a witch walking towards them at the time Joel was explaining who he was. " Sorry Joel, just kinda new here." Is this their old keeper? he thought as he heard the witch say,".... possible prospects for my old position."

He stuck out his hand," Hi,I'm Jason Tawny." As an afterthought he added," Fourth year."

Taken aback by Joel's comment Amelia replied, "Then how come I didn't see you or Xurdion whip out your wands and take care of it? Guess I'm quicker than you lot." Amelia said with a smile as she playfully nudged Joel in the shoulder. Turning to Jason she growled out, "Look kid, I don't know who you think you are but if you don't calm down soon and let Jordan get a fair shot at keeper position, I will see to it personally and promise that you never get on this Quidditch team becuase you will be living in the hospital wing for the rest of your years at Hogwarts. You got it?" The timely appearance of Kanita cooled Amelia down enough that she didn't keep that promise. "Hey Kani! Yea feel free to watch, you will always be part of the team even if you are not playing." .....

Normally the quiet Ravenclaw student kept to himself, and would go to great lengths to avoid conrontation, however, the younger student who seemed to be trying out for the team as well definately had found a way to get under his skin. He originally had no idea that the student had gripped his wand. In fact that didn't bother him too much. After all, he was a sixth year and was fairly confident in his own blocking ability's with spells way beyond the skill level of a fourth year. At the same time though, Jordan knew there were some wizards out there that could produce more complicated charms such as the Patronus charm before their fourth year, and he himself didn't manage it until his fifth. No, what really irked him about the younger student was the arrogant way he seemed t speak to him. 'Kid,' he thought to himself, 'whatever happened to showing respect to your elders. I barely even know this kid, but I know he's only a fourth year. Well, maybe he doesn't know I'm a sixth year. Still though, how rude.'

Luckily, Jordan was distracted from his negative thoughts when Vlaityn practically commanded that the boy put his wand away. Jordan stood with his mouth agape. Obviously she had noticed something he hadn't, and Jordan was surprised at the pure audacity and nerve of the fourth year. Luckily, again, Jordan really had no need to worry as Amelia Rochelle had already properly disarmed the boy. Jordan had never told her, but he really admired Rochelle as chaser, and him made him blush when she mentioned that she had noticed him at previous tryouts. Whether the blush was from flattery or embarrasment was unclear though.

Jordan had opened his mouth to answer Amelia, but he was cut off by another question, this time from the team's seeker, Lori. He couldn't supress a laugh as confetti showered down on him, and Lori's bubbling personality stood out vinrantly against the irritated moods of almost everyone else. Once again he opened his mouth to adress her and then Amelia, but then once again he was cut off as another member of the team practically tackled him, and then almost squeezed the breath out of him. "Joel," he managed to say, "Get off!" Once he was released, Jordan let out another chuckle, "It's nice to see you to Joel," he said. Joel was definately one of the more lively members of the team, and Jordan respected him greatly for it. He only wished he could be half as outgoing as Joel.

Finally, Jordan thought he would be able to reply to all of their questions, but another person had intervened. Jordan was almost fud up with the whole thing by then, but he turned around to see who had come up, and he couldn't suppress a gasp. It was none other than the previous keeper for Ravenclaw, Kanita Doyle. Jordan almost collapsed from excitement. She had been one if his favorite quidditch players during his years at Hogwarts, and he had studied and observed many of her tactics over the years. He was sad whenever she quit the house team due to unknown reasons to him, but at the same time he was excited at the prospect of taking her place, and possibly contributing as much to the team as she did.

Once the girl had said she was only going to watch, Jordan felt an even greater urge to impress the team. He was ready to go so at Amelia's final attempt to settle things down, the boy nodded his head, "All right, everyone I think we get it. Let's just play some quidditch, and see how this goes." Jordan then turned to face Jason and tentatively held out a hand, "I'm sorry about the confusion," he said politely, although it was quite clear that the boy just didn't like competition and felt threatened, "You still up for a game?" He asked. After all, Jordan really did want what was best for the team. He hoped beyond hope he would be good enough to make it onto the team, but if Jason did turnout to be better, then Jordan would still be there cheering on the team at every game.

Amelia's comment about him going to attack Jordan pushed Jason over the edge.
" I was going to give him a fair shot!!!! Honestly, The entire reason I even tried to grab my wand was because I don't know if this guy was going to play fair like I was!! Now If you please I'd like my wand back so we can play for sake of good ol' Saint Peter!"

After his little outburst Jason took a deep breath and exhaled trying to calm down even if only just a bit.

"Jordan I"m sorry it looked like I was going to jinx you." He stuck his hand out. " So let the best man win?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 13, 2009 12:17 pm

Jordan stepped bacl during the outburst. It was completely unexpected, and made Jordan almost feel vad for being the cause of the whole situation. While Jason talked, Jordan's eyes were downcast, deep in thought. 'Maybe I'm not being fair,' he thought, 'after all I've had four years to try and make the team, but I've always failed. Maybe I don't really deserve to be out here with these guys.' Jordan looked up and caught a glimpse of Kanita. Just the memories of the spectacular dives and twirls she had taken to stop the quaffle from going through the goal posts made his heart beat with anticipation. 'No,' he thought, 'I've trained too long and too hard to not try. I'm doing this.' Then Jordan noticed that Jason had spoken to him. Jordan gripped the boy's hand and gave a single, but firm shake, "Absolutely," he said with a smile, and he meant it. Jordan then turned to Vlaityn, anxious to see if she would still allow them to play.

Glaring at Jason, Amelia replied: "It sure didn't look like you were going to give him a fair shot. By the way, I didn't see Jordan grip his wand once unlike you who went to grab it twice. So no, I'm not giving you your wand back until you calm down and anyway you don't need it during a Quidditch game anyway. Just so that this practice is fair I suggest everyone's wands are given to Kani since she isn't going to be playing and she doesn't favor anyone." Amelia didn't want to feel like she was taking over the team so she looked to Vlaityn and asked, "What do you think Vlaityn? You're the captain after all."

This whole time, Amelia realized that Jordan was trying to say something. "Sorry about that Jordan. Don't worry about Jason, your welcome amongst the rest of us. Anyway, what is it that you wanted to say?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 13, 2009 1:21 pm

Rubbing her forehead in a distracted manner with her index finger and thumb, Vlaityn tried to take a deep breath to prevent her from clubbing anyone to death. Herself being on the list, of course.

'It's not even an official practice and look at this net of chaos.' Although she tried to sound glum about it in her own mind, Vlaityn couldn't help but treasure every drop of the disorderly conduct and mass of talking [both agreeable and otherwise] that was the Ravenclaw Team. At that thought her smile grew broad. Oh, how she loved it all, in a begrudging kind of way.

Shaking her head, Vlaityn formed an idea. Well, sort of an idea. More of a means to deal with the current situation. So she clapped her hands together and raised her voice to capture the attention of the currently broomed* students.

"Okay, let me think guys. We can see how the guys play their Keeper skills. But let's remember. It's more than skill and ability, it's teamwork and attitude as well. If there's lack of respect, anger, and all around ignorance of the situation...." Vlaityn let the sentence hang for a bit to impose her seriousness on the matter. "I won't care how much ability you've got, you will NOT be getting a position on this lovely, albeit crazy, group of people I've come to tolerate." Vlaityn's serious tone ended up sounding comical and light, knowing the whole team knew how she found them utterly amusing.

"Maybe we'll make a final decision today, maybe not. No rush. Oh, and Kani." Turning to her friend, Vlaityn wore an apologetic smile. "If you'd, you know, use your knowledge and expertise to help us judge...." Trailing of with a laugh, Vlaityn smiled warmly and the dear Kanita. "It's like Joel said. We just know how to smash things!"

Although Vlaityn's countenance towards Kani was warm and cheerful, she was deeply worried under it all. The reason for Kani's resignation, if you will, left her sad and displaced. Kani was quite possibly the most talented person on the team. Not to mention a dear friend. So the mystery puzzled Vlaityn and puzzled her until she had thought herself into a little dip of sadness, especially since she had a feeling it wasn't a matter she could have just asked about.

*I totally just made that word up. xD

Even though he hated the idea of letting some one else keep his wand for a time he said" Fine. But only if I get it back right after the Practice. Deal? " He turned towards Vlaityn and waited for her orders." So Captain what next?"Hopefully a fair fight for Keeper he thought still envious of Jordan's connections.
