"Sounds good." Breathes deeply, the air smelling like smoke and mud. This smell would later remind him of now, when things seemed simple, easy. He followed close behind Reg, trying to process the situation. The sounds of the city seemed distant. He wanted to set a car alarm off or something, make it loud.

"I was just... you sure you're okay and all, yeah? Because I can make it back on my own you know, if you need to be somewhere else." His jeans, a bit too long for him, dragged in the dirt, collecting. It seemed like it would be really easy to just push the singer over. He seemed frail where as before he was anything but; a bundle of noise and anger and energy. Everyone had their off days, Josh supposed. "How's uhm, how's Lavender?"

"You tryin' to say 'm old, b***h?" looks over at him with an arched eyebrow, his face still carrying faint white scars from all the cursed thread that had torn his skin to hell just a day before. They'd fade, but the itch was hell.

He reached up and rubbed his cheek, laughing slightly as they walked. "Yeah. Feel better when I do s**t instead of sit around on my a** an' do jack c**t. 'm not a good bloke to have stewin' or have laid up in bed. I go ape s**t fast."

He thought of Lavender and her hysterical sobbing the night before and how she'd promised him to not die in the middle of the night even though Hermione had told them time and time again he'd be just fine. She was sweet, fun to be around, fun to spoil, but she could panic so easily.

"Off shoppin'. Got her a nice little Porsche first thing this morning so she could drive in style. Easy as hell to get those bastards."

"'Course not. Well I mean, you are old, compared to me at least." Continues to chew on his lip thoughtfully. "Nothing wrong with being old. 'Cept when you get all wrinkly and like, lose control of your bladder. Heh." Laughs, sticking his tongue out. "Don't worry, you're not to that point quite yet, haha!"

"Yeah. m'the same way, too. I hate sittin' around in one place with nothin' to do or think about. Yeah. Definitely no good to stew." Throws his hands up in the air, stretching. The sound of both of their footsteps, their voices, now echoed off the buildings. Far less lonely seeming.

"Eh. I never liked cars and things. Prefer walking, for sure. One time when I was younger, I remember I walked like, musta been three day I was walking, just to get away from home..."

"Oh, I don't plan on livin' that long. No point." he waved the comment off before reaching into the back pocket of his jeans for a familiar silver cigarette case.

Reg pulled one free and put it to his lips. He held the f** between his teeth as he took out a battered zippo from his hoodie pocket and flicked it open for a light.

"When you were younger, eh? What were you six, Joshie?" takes a drag, smiling as he forced the smoke from the corner of his mouth. He paused for a moment before offering the cig up to the younger male.

"Nah, 'm shittin' you, love. Yeah, you didn't take me as the homeward bound type. Don't blame you. S'hardly ever worth it. Home is where the heart is. S'your ********' chest."

Josh could only smile at that. He certainly didn't want to live to be old enough to have an even worse memory than he did right now. No, he definitely planned on living it while he could. Like today; he had gone out without a plan and ended up here, with Reg. It seemed that lately the universe was most definitely on his side.

"Yeah, maybe about six. Hard to remember for sure. Being young is weird..." He took the cig, looking at it thoughtfully before putting it in his mouth. It wasn't like it was the first time he tried it, but it wasn't a habit yet, and the smoke felt thick against the roof of his mouth. He let the smoke out his nostrils, shaking his head. "Ugh." Hands the cigarette back, smacking his lips.

There were slightly more people now wandering the sidewalks, more cars, more noise. Their quiet, echoing alley had led them back to a line of small, run-down looking shops.

"You ever think you were put here for a reason, Reg?"

"You smoke like a ********' horse. Pony boy." he snickered, amused at the younger male before he took another drag. The cigarette stayed at the corner of his mouth, bobbing fearlessly as he spoke.

"Tch, you have no idea, babe." he smiled bitterly, but waved his hand about as he talked, "There's books out there about how I sacrificed it all for that horcrux. Psh. S'easier to die for something than it is to live for something. Trust me."

He glanced around, violet eyes studying the buildings as one would a road map. They were only a few more blocks away.

"S's**t. I think we all get s**t out some b***h's c**t and then the smart ones, that being people like us, Joshie, get thrown on our asses and figure it out. One blind, painful step at a ********' time."

Josh could taste nothing but smoke, and somehow it was comforting. He ran his tongue over his teeth, thinking he would have to brush them a couple of times for the taste to go away.

He didn't know much about Wizarding history, didn't care to know, but he had learned a little about Reg, the horcrux, just because the name was familiar and thus interesting. Still, Josh never imagined he would die for anything, anything except himself. And he definitely planned to live for something. "You think so?"

"I mean, yeah I guess I am pretty blind to the world, but the stumbling, painful steps are the fun if it, aren't they? I'd rather be blind than open my eyes. Worlds a little better that way."

Josh took a deep breath, the smoke smell still in his nostrils. It felt good.

"Depends on your perception of it in the first place. Squintin' doesn't always make s**t look like a pile of gold." he gave another shrug, flinching from the movement before he cracked his neck to the side and rubbed the side of it ********, I want a ********' cheese grater for this s**t. Or Jappa. S'this little Korean chick I know, singer in this band called Tongue Bath, she's got crazy long nails man. She leaves scars, for sure." he uttered through grit teeth, biting hard into the cigarette as he continued to rub at his neck. The skin burned and felt like it was flaking off all at once.

"I need a good long nasty shag." he murmured almost mournfully, slowing the movement of his hand until he finally stopped. He wanted to run off, get higher and smashed to hell then crash, but the itching and fatigue was starting to drag him down.

Josh watched Reg, worried. He didn't want Reg to go so he didn't say anything about it. He figured it was at least a good thing they were together, so if something did happen he could try and get help or something. He couldn't see any plausible reason for someone to have hurt Reg, and he didn't even know the extent of what had happened.

"... well we could uhm. Do something else if you want, like I could walk with you to go..." Josh frowned a bit, unsure how to continue. The taste of cigarettes was sour now, but still oddly pleasant. he wondered if that was the addictive quality of it. Sticking in your mouth, your brain right away, making you want more.

Josh had never heard of Tongue Bath and decided he would never buy any of their music.

"Well, isn't there anything you could put on it? What's wrong with you anyhow?" Seeing Reg itch made him itch, scratching at his arm without really thinking about it.

"Oy, relax, babe. I didn't say I was gonna find some arse and leave ya." he smiled again, strained and relaxed at the same time. He liked the weird edge of hysteria that danced around his cool.

"Can't do s**t for it, nah. Got into a disagreement with some old..." he trailed off for a moment, considering himself briefly before answering honestly, "Death Eater friends. They're interested in a friend of mine that isn't interested in them, if ya catch me."

"Got me pretty good with a bindin' spell. Sews ya all up. The more you panic and the people are you think about it the tighter the threads get." he paused to take another drag, exhaling smoke in a thin stream from his mouth. "When you forget about it, it sucks up into your skin. S'nasty s**t. Most people die before they figure out what to do."

He ran his fingers through his hair, watching the youth intently now. "I have rotten luck, I guess. Always havin' to talk myself into trouble in order to keep it shut, ya know?"

"Didn't think you were gunna, Reg." Josh noticed the shoelace on one of his boots had become untied, but decided he kind of liked how it looked so made no move to tie it. The lace wasn't long enough to trip him anyways since the boots were highrise.

Josh had nothing to say about the whole situation, not really wanting to get into anything about Death Eaters or magic curse s**t. Was nice to know about; actually it was ******** scary and he hoped he never had anything to do with it. Bad enough people could drug you, poison you, shoot you, without magic to make it worse. "Dunno if it's luck..."

"Anyways, s'this the place?" Josh gestured to a shopwindow across the street that had a big sign, very pointed text, which declared PIERCINGS.
PostPosted: Mon Jul 19, 2010 10:57 pm

"Yeah, s'probably just my place on the food chain. Whipping boy." he laughed, but tilted his head as he looked over to the shop in question.

"Yeah, think it is. Well, come on." he crossed the street, not bothering to watch his step as he went. Pedestrians had the right of way, after all. He shoved his hands back into the pockets of his hoodie and let his hair fall back into his face, suddenly hopping it would rain.

"Aw, s**t." he scowled when he got up to the door, not very happy with the Closed sign dangling from it. "Deal with it, the b***h says. Thinks she's so ********' witty..." he yanked the sign down from where it had been hanging.

"Who the hell closes shop near weekend? The ********' hell."

Josh hurried after Reg, though he did look both ways before doing so. The street was pretty slow moving anyways; people seemed to be actually obeying the speed limit here. Amazing.

He caught up, frowning. "What? What's..." Josh looked over Reg's shoulder, which was pretty easy, and noticed the sign. "Oh. Well, oh well. What else could we do?" Josh moved to press his face against the glass, peering inside. It was dark and obviously abandoned for the day. He moved back, leaving a smudge of breath on the glass.

"Any ideas? I got nothin'." Absently tugs on one of his earrings, having the strange notion it was going to get ripped out in the near future.

"I want coffee." he admitted suddenly, arching an eyebrow as he watched Josh tug on his piercing. He reached over, knocking the would-be singer's hand away to pull on it himself.

"This your thinkin' lever, Joshie? You're a funny bloke." he smiled an odd amused curve of his previously pierced lips before he let him go and started down the street. He felt like he was almost running from his skin, and the slight want in his jeans.

"I'll get you somethin' to eat. Place is quiet and the food's good. We'll chill there, yeah? Cuz it's gonna rain."

"Coffee sounds good to me." Josh exaggerated being tugged down by Reg, grinning, before he was let go. Definitely wasn't a thinking lever. Would be nice if it was though.

Josh watched Reg walking down the street for a few moments, looking back into the closed shop before hurrying to catch up, falling in step with the shorter male easily. "Not that I mind rain or anything, though."

Hums a bit, kicking at the sidewalk. "Sold my life to bring the rain, maybe to wash me clean. Sold my soul to stop the pain, hoping you'd set me free..." Josh sang, smiling, tilting his head to look up at the dark clouds.
