Kaela drew a sharp breath of surprise as an older boy about the age of her older brother rushed in front of her. Images flashed in her head of Aston, manipulative and cruel, his proud blue eyes daring her to fight back. She shuddered ever so slightly, long ringlets scarcely betraying the small movement. Her first instinct was to run, her second to hide. She forced herself to do neither, again picturing Jakob in mind's eye. If she succeeded here, she might be able to raise him properly someday.

Men are only men, she forced herself to think. Aston is an exception. An exception. She hoped, with all her heart, that it were so. That even the cold sergeant was not like Aston, and that she could even be comfortable here if she tried hard enough. Perhaps he was only teaching them to follow orders, no matter what. Fixing that mentality in her head along with the image of her baby, she managed to return to the present in time to flash the young man a smile and nod of thanks.

She would excel, and raise others' opinion of her. Perhaps one day she would be able to even let them know her past without fearing it would change their view of her.

Still, she was afraid. Even more so as the huge wolf near her suddenly growled and charged down the field towards the female sergeant. Would there never be any sanity in her life?

Chehero was still apologizing furiously under her breath as she watched a few of her peers also strip off their shoes and launch them at the 'stick' and wolf. Another shoe had managed for follow her previous mark and hit the wolf as well. Trying hard not to laugh, her thoughts were caught off guard by a shot from a pistol as a bullet landed in the snow not to far from her. Her eyes darting up to see the stick take the small form of a female. Grumbling how stupid she had been for taking off her shoe's in this weather she was brought back to attention by another shot from the gun over their heads.

Chehero had been in the academy long enough to understand that when a gun was fired attention was called for. She wasn't frightened of the sound nor was she frighted of the weapon, pouting that the wolfrider in the distance was using a pistol Chehero couldn't help but wonder if she would ever be allowed to use one. A pistol that was, after all her uncle had allowed her the privilege of practicing with the gun when her face wasn't deeply buried in her studies. That she was able to pride herself in her deadly accuracy with the weapon. Chehero's attention was pulled back once again as a shoe, despite the one that threw it, hit the girl.

Chehero cursed under her breath, this woman was insane, what was she trying to prove. Irritated she looked back towards her drill sergeant eyes wide with confusion. What was he thinking by getting all of the students involved in his petty little argument with another bonded? Her eyes scanned the peers in her class, one of the twins seemed to be huddling over one of the girls in an attempt to what protect her. She gave him props for that, not many were willing to place themselves on the line for a stranger. Then again, that was what being a wolfrider meant wasn't it?

Jumping at the sound echoing from the dark wolf in front of her, Chehero's head swung just in time to see the wolf launch himself forward barely leaving enough time to get out of the way. Staggering to remain balanced despite the fact she could no longer feel her feet Chehero she watched the wolf burst forward.

Miri started walking around barefooted. She looked at Chehero, whom she had met a little while ago and said, "Wow, the drill sergeants are sure harsh." Miri watched others throw their shoes. She thought it was kind of childish to throw shoes at sticks too near such a dangerous creature like a wolf. "And this is how you get someone angry just because you were told to do it."she thought.

Mirisua was being very alert to anymore gunshots that would surprise her and the others near her. She started thinking of what it would be like to be a wolfrider. "Hmmm... maybe he or she would be brave, and probably do better at decision making than me. Maybe we can explore new lands together, if I can make it past the academy!" Sighing, Miri stood up and felt the cold harsh winter wind blow.

She would do her best, no matter the cost to make it to be the best, and prove that history has nothing to do with success and future. With that thought in mind, she tried to figure how to get a new pair of shoes before it becomes to cold. And it was probably rude and disrespectful to be walking around barefooted. "Maybe I can borrow a pair.."

Dave looked confused down at the small girl, was it his imagination of had she seemed afraid of him? Half rolling his eyes he watched as a rock came hurdling towards them hitting the wolf dead on the shoulder. "She's an idiot! What is she trying to do? Get our class killed!?" Dave yelled at basically anyone that was currently listening, though he was more or less drowned out by the loud bark coming from the Dark black-purple wolf. He was quick to notice the drill master take several steps back, and again without thinking he too took one large step back. His hand pulling out to grab the same girl from before around the wrist and carefully and gently pull her away from the path moving her so he was between the girl and the wolf.

That didn't seem to be of much help for him as he was bumped by the wolf and ended up pushing gently into Kaela. Blushing furriously and appologizing like a mainiac, Dave couldn't help but lower his head shamefully. He was completely right this class was going to be a total bust.

She'd ignored a direct order because frankly...throwing shoes at another person without a reason to was simply retarded. Now with the sound of gunshots and then...the mad dash of the beta wolf had her bolting from her spot to avoid being trampled by the mad beast. Bouncing lightly on her toes as she pulled up short near some of the other recruits a wry smile crossed her face as she heard the shout.

"Not her fault, after all she got attacked first last I saw." Tossing her yellow tipped black hair over her shoulder, Cassadaine kept herself on alert as she watched the situation unfolding. Chances were this lesson was going to take a while, if it ever got completed today that is.

Shaking her head, books tucked against her side, sighed. Men... The drill sergeant and his petty personal vendettas were likely to get them killed if those wolves ever started fighting.
PostPosted: Sun Jan 11, 2009 5:35 pm

Suddenly a hand was on her wrist and a light pressure pulled her backwards just as the huge wolf careened through the space she'd occupied an instant before. Had she still been in his way, she was sure she'd have been trampled half to death. Shaken, she instinctively clung to her rescuer's arm for safety, unaware that he was... a he. Then there was a slight bump, and they both stumbled backwards, pressed awkwardly close together. Only then did she realize exactly who the person was, and that she was very nearly in the arms of a young man.

Heat rose rapidly to her face and neck as she quickly, borderline rudely extricated herself from him, all the while seeing not a friendly, kind young redhead but a handsome teenage male with black hair and a cruel, taunting smile...and the same dark blue eyes as hers. Shaking, she hastily told him that all was fine, then turned away to hide the tears of embarrassment and panic that had begun to rise and now threatened to spill over.

Spaz stood there open eyed as several shoes were launched towards the girl and her wolf, practically laughing when two of them hit the wolf and another the girl. This just made his day jumping at the gun shots that careened towards them spaz was more than quickly distraced by his twin brother's choice of movement. This sent him into bigger riles of laugher that didn't stop until a bark forced him to stop. Spaz was unable to turn around in time and was shoved to the ground by the, what appered to be one very angry wolf. What was wrong with that one, it hadn't been hit had it. Looking over to his brother Spaz pouted, Dave instead of pulling him out of the way of the trampling wolf was bending over a really small blue haired FEMALE. The same one he had seen him protect before. Quickly thinking up a swift mode of revenge at not having been chosen over the girl, Spaz quickly rose to his feet and in short order pushed his brother forward into the girl once more. Bursting into another fit of laughter as he did so.

Dave didn't ask any further questions from the girl as she didn't seem to want to talk to him. Ruffling his red hair contemplating if it would be safe to continue to talk to her or if he should just let things be he looked over at his brother, who at this point was covered in snow. Resisting the urge to laugh at him, Dave watched as he came closer. Shaking his head in a pleading attempt to stop Spaz it was too late. Turning on spot so he wouldn't cause Kaela to fall with him he found himself being shoved once again into her.

'Will this class never end?' he thought mentaly to himself only just realizing that both of his arms had wrapped in an almost protective way around the girls waist. No class was most definatly not going to end well, it only seemed to be one disaster after another. Utter chao's had been established and the way the wolves were behaving it was likely that order was not going to be established no matter how hard the drill master yelled.

"P-please forgive me, it was an accident." Dave tried hard to straiten himself but he felt rather shook up about what Spaz had done. Turning on spot he glared at his twin trying to come up with a retaliation.

Frowning, Keeva watched as the shoe-throwing took place, slowly scooting farther away so she would not be as noticed by the Drill Sergeant. Was he INSANE? There was no way she would even think of throwing a shoe at a 'stick,' as he so called it. Her deep purple eyes could tell the difference between a stick and a woman, after all! Besides, she thought to herself as two shoes struck the beautiful wolf near the woman, I'd hate to do what they did. Trouble is sure to come from that.

Sure enough, she shook her head as the woman retaliated, brandishing her gun and throwing back a rock...to hit the Drill Sergeants wolf. But what happened next seemed unreal to Keeva. The wolf was going to attack! She jumped nearly out of her pale skin as the wolf, Nightwing he was called, rushed snarling passed the recruits towards the other woman. She barely caught the oh-so-informative words of the Sergeant as she watched in silent terror.

"In the end, we humans will always be at their mercy."

Yes, Keeva thought gloomily, but without them, we'd be at the centipedes mercy.

"It is also in the human's jurisdiction to strike a counter attack when his or her wolf has been fired upon." A matter-of-fact tone followed Adrian's statement. Alice tapped the butt of her gun to Drill Sergeant's shoulder before giving him a cheeky smile. "'Allo gov'ner. Good to see you too."

-Flashback from a minute before-

Alice tucked the pistol into one of the many secret pockets inside her jacket before dusting her hands of. "Well that was a fruitful experience." she quipped. "Imagine what I could've done with an AK-47."

Now you've done it... came Haze's agitated voice.

The Sergeant looked up just in time to see a rabid mass of purple fur charging across the field towards her. "Bugger," she muttered under breath.

My sediments exactly.

I suppose running won't do any good.

Probably not.

Alice sighed, watching the wolf quickly advance upon them. Well, she lived a good life for the most part. A short life, but good nonetheless. Amber eyes switched back over to the russet colored wolf as he stood, rising to his impressing full height.

Red-orange eyes narrowed as Haze let out a low, guttural growl. It was a warning to Alice. Get out of here, Flamehaze said urgently as his lips drew back to reveal two rows of sharp, jagged fangs.

And leave you behind to have all the fun to yourself? I don't think so.

It wasn't an question, it was an order. he snarled, snapping his jaws near Alice's ear in hopes she'd get the idea. He swerved from his rider just as Nightwing was inches from tearing Alice from limb to limb. Go, NOW!

Alice jumped back from Haze's jaws, getting the impression she should leave. Just as Nightwing was about to lunge at her, Haze slammed into him, giving the Sergeant time to find somewhere to watch from a distance. She felt disappointed and a pang of regret at how Haze chose to stay behind, but if there was any wolf that could stop a fight before it got ugly, it was him.

-End Flashback-

How Alice was able to slip up behind the Drill Sergeant so quietly without anyone noticing was a secret she'd never reveal. She whistled a tune to herself as she was able to view the Recruits up close. Had Nightwing disregarded Flamehaze's distraction and realized that Alice had retreated, this is exactly where she wanted to lead him.

Adrian teared his eyes away from his wolf for a brief moment to glance at the recruits, wondering if they had heard him at all. But most of them seemed too frightened of the current situation to even pay attention, which was pretty pathetic considering how much more danger they'd be in with the centipedes. All in all, this was quite a good learning experience for the group, allowing them to tune into their fears... and get over it.

"Suck it up, recruits. If you think this is scary, then you're not even near half as ready to face down a single centipede," he barked at them, making sure that they heard him loud and clear this time. A dark but serious stare accompanied his statement, to ensure that they heard and understood him this time.

Meanwhile, Nightwing was quickly approaching the stupid human when he noted that the other wolf was rising to her defense. He slowed his strides as he neared, eyeing the younger male cautiously. And for good cause as the larger body slammed towards in full force, but he skidded and leapt out of the way, feeling nothing more than brush of fur.

Nightwing bristled as he continued to bare his fangs and growl, softer, but this time directed at his new adversary. His body was tall and menacing, though the other was slightly taller, but he was not phased. His ears were erect and forward, his tail straight and stiff, all the postures that challenged for rank. He had had no interest in this young wolf until he had intervened in the rightful punishment that should've been dealt on the human. Personally, Nightwing wouldn't even blink an eyelash had Adrian been attacked by another wolf, only because he knew all the wolves were smart enough not to kill a human (and face Feral's wrath) and that his stupid rider probably deserved the swipe.

The growl turned into a more vicious snarl as Nightwing lunged forward a small stride but only in warning, jaws snapping but not touching the younger male. He'd had to beat down other wolves to submission before and this time would be no different. Stepping back quickly, he circled the other wolf as he continued to snarl all his pearly whites, awaiting either a submission or defiance from his adversary.

Tilting his head slightly to look at the new addition to their group, Adrian raised an eyebrow at Alice. No doubt she was examining the recruits, as most Wolfriders liked to do, but did she have to whistle? Annoying woman. "Did you need something or are you simply running away? Really, leaving your wolf behind to fight your battles, how dishonorable." He shook his head in mock disappointment, clucking his tongue as he glanced back at the staredown. Even if he wanted to stop the fight, he couldn't - wolves would be wolves.

Chehero shifted her feet in the snow curling her toes in an attempt to feel them. Her electric pink eye's flashed back towards Adrian in a dark scowl, folding her arms as she looked back at the two wolves. Who in their right mind wanted to see two wolves fighting. And of the same rank no less, Chehero had half a mind to leave class for another pair of boots that the brown wolf had taken the liberty of destroying. Not that the drill sergeant would notice, being as wrapped up in his little fight as he was. She wasn't scared about the wolves fighting, sure she had been distracted and completely surprised by the bark but that was about it. She had already been desensitized to it last year, of course back then was a different story. Least to say she was the biggest chicken in the class.

Moving so she was facing the sergeant again she lowered her hands back at her side. "Permission to speak, sir." She wanted new boots, at this rate she and several other students would be getting frost bite from the snow. Wiggling her toe's in a continued attempt to keep her toe's from falling off she continued. "Would frost bite be a fear to over come?" She was giving him just as much of a challenging glare as what he was giving her.

Not having seen the young man's twin creep up from behind, Kaela was taken completely by surprise when once again she felt a bump and found herself in his grasp. In fact, she was encircled completely in his arms. An involuntary squeal escaped her, was he trying to make a move on her? Again she felt a blossoming of heat despite her freezing limbs, and for a sickening instant she it was Aston who held her, toying with her. She swayed, held upright only by the boy's arms, then it was over.

Politely disengaging herself from his arms, she gave him a very small, very shy smile.

"Thank you, again."

Spaz stood there and whiped the tears that were forming in his eyes, this class was just to much fun. His twin seemed to be a little enchanted by the small girl beside him, the drill sergeant was yelling at what appeared to be no one. Two wolves were fighting in the background, somehow a girl seemed to manage to ninja past 20 odd people and not to mention a few smart a** remarks from a couple of the students. Doubling over from the pain in his stomach, Spaz wrapped both arms around himself but just couldn't seem to stop laughing. Looking at his twin's glare though seemed to calm him down some fearing the worst.

Dave stood there in complete furry, clenching his hands into tight fists, the muscle in his upper arm tightend and he let it go. swinging upwards his fist hit his twin well square in the jaw, taking a step back and shaking his hand he almost seemed to whine from the pain. Growling she scooped up a pile of snow and held it to his knuckles, still glaring at his stupid twin brother. He was most likely going to get kicked out of class now for this one, adding to the horror of the day. That however didn't seem to bother him all that much, after all he wasn't really here for the bonding of a wolf. "How stupid do you have to be!" He yelled angerly.
