Nanina gave a small shrug and said, I've been coming here sine I was six. I helped birth Bessie. She gave a small laugh and walked over to Kahlilia. I'm Nanina Barklee. Nanina held out her hand as she introduced herself.

"Wow, really? Thats awesome," Kahlilia said. When Nanina outstretched her hand, she took it, and shook. "I'm Kahlilia Thompson. Its nice to meet you."

Nice to meet you too. Nanina tipped her hat and mimiced a southern accent. Then she smiled and laughed. Supper should be ready any time now, so we'd better go get cleaned up. Auntie hates dirty hands at the table.
Shannon had woken up and was inside helping Monty with the food.

Esmeralda wrinkled her nose, still stroking Sahara's neck. She would much rather have stayed in the barn, but...a camp was a camp. There was a schedule. She didn't mind breaking rules, but only if they were worth breaking.
"I'll come back later, gorgeous," she whispered to Sahara. She didn't even bother to tell herself not to get attached. She'd fallen in love with the pretty mare already.

"Oh, yes. Of course." Kahlilia said quietly to Nanina. "Okay." Before leaving the barn, she went back to Benvolio, who still had his nose protruding through the stall. She pet him again, with her forehead against his, closing her eyes for a moment or two before taking her forehead away again. She whispered something unaudible to Benvolio, and finally left the barn with a smile on her face.

Esmeralda headed back towards her room unwillingly. She remembered Ms. Barklee saying that there were bathrooms at the end of the hall. She could use one to wash up, if she had to, she thought.

Evantually, Kahlilia headed into her room, washing up and changing her shirt, so that she wore a brown and white corset-like shirt. She could smell the food nearby, but couldn't exactly identify what it was. She tied her loose hair into a sloppy bun and put on a baggy, dark colored sweater as the temperature was - although very slowly - dropping.

Esmeralda washed up in record time, changed her shirt from the aqua-blue T-shirt to a green sweater, and walked out again. "Now where do we go?" she wondered aloud. She tucked her hair back and scanned the area. Perhaps she could conveniently get lost and wind up in the barn again...but her mother would kill her if she wore this sweater to the barn.
So what? Her mother wasn't here now. The sense of freedom this gave her was almost euphoric.

Shannon stepped into the hall and saw Esmeralda farther down. This way! She called to her, motioning for the girl teh follow.
Nanina changed out into a pair of light blue jeans and a plain black shirt, then headed for the kitchen.

Esmeralda sighed, all her happy hopes forgotten. "Coming," she called. Walking down the hall, she went through the door Shannon had beckoned from and found herself in the dining room.
Wow. She hadn't known there was this much food anywhere. Like, ever.

Kahlilia found her way into the dining room a few minutes after Esmeralda. On the way, she had watched the chickens, who had ran around in their pen like crazy. Her hair was now down and around her shoulders. She could smell the food, and it smelled wonderful. She gave a friendly smile to the others around her, trying to conceal her hunger.

Esmeralda tugged on a lock of loose black hair, frowning absently at the table. She didn't know what to do with herself.
She looked at the other two girls, silently asking a question. Where do we sit?

At once, Kahlilia asked herself the same question. She stood by one of the walls, looking over at Shannon with curiousity. "Can we sit down?" She asked after a hesitation. In truth, even though she was hungry, she would have rather stayed with the animals. She thought about them as she waited quietly for Shannon's answer - or someone else's, for that matter.

Esmeralda was too shy even to ask. She just stood still, just within the doorway, and awaited an answer to the other girl's question. It felt weird, sitting down to eat at someone else's house.
Not proper, darling, she thought wryly, mocking her mother's voice to herself.

Shannon set teh last of the food, a salad, on the table and then wiped her hands on the apron she wore. Well, unless ya'll want to eat off the floor. Please sit. She gave a motherly smile to show that she had been joking about the 'floor', and then sat herself, at the head of the table. Shannon untied the apron and hung it over the back of her chair.
Nanina entered the room and looked at the girls. She gave her aunt a curious look, and then sat down.
