I was just wondering...I never saw the ending. heck I only got to chapter 46! Anyway, is it true that Ed gets sent to Germany, WWII?

Yep. I heard that the people who are making this film really visited Germany just to get the location in the film right.

It's going to be interesting to see how they plan to connect the movie to the series. Now that I have seen the ending, I cannot see exactly how the movie is related to it, but it may end up being a retelling of the story from the TV series. This is what they did with Escaflowne.

It's not gonna be a "retelling" of anything. The end of the series wasn't the end - they still have to reunite Ed and Al! It's a continuation...nothing like Escaflowne or X the Movie.

*squee~!* Oh, and someone named Oguri Shun (小栗旬) will be playing Heiderich, even though Rie Kugimiya did the voice in the trailer. Apparently they changed it...
