Leilani was laughing when he came back up, but still managed to grab a breath in time for Aiden to push her back into the deeper water. It was a little chilly, but refreshing. She knew they were frolicking around in the water like pups, but in the end, did it really matter?

She was still laughing a little when she resurfaced a moment later.

"Only a little," she said with a grin. "And you did it, too."

Aiden laughed too when he resurfaced then drew himself closer to her. "You started it." He said playfully as he nuzzled her nose. He stopped laughing and held her close to him again. "I love you." He said softly and pressed his lips against hers. His heart raced with a heavy beat.

Leilani settled into his arms as if that was where she was meant to be. And yes, it was a pretty fair bet to say that she would kiss him back. For a moment, she watched him, but soon her eyes fluttered closed as she wrapped her arms around his neck.

After what seemed like forever, the fairy broke the gentle contact, resting her head on his shoulder.

I l...

I lo...

"I really like you," she whispered.

Aiden stared into her eyes then smiled. Those words she spoke always pierced him. He wished she would not udder the words.

"Leilani..." From the corner of his eye he saw the sun was setting now. "I promised Moss I would take him fishing me me." He picked her up and started to make his way out of the water. "I will walk you home if you like, it's on my way home." He said kindly, it was now like he had forgotten the kiss. He put her down next to where they had sat their clothes and he started to re-dress himself.

Now what? she wanted to ask. What did who do this time? Maybe I'm just not that good of a kisser... At that thought, her face burned bright red no matter what she did. Lord, she hadn't really embarrassed herself, had she?

"No, I wouldn't want you to be late," she murmured. Trudging up the beach to where their clothes were, clean and dry (for the most part), Leilani looked down at herself and shook her head. She was soaked, and would need to get the saltwater out of her fur before she did anything else. Just tossing the green dress over her head, she gathered her other belongings, the glove containing her treasures on top.

"I had fun today," she added with a small smile. "I hope we can do it again soon." Even though its like a yoyo being with you. The highest highs I've ever known, and also some of the lowest lows...

Aiden got dressed quickly and placed the handkerchief back in it's place. "We will see each other again. I have a feeling. Whether it's at the beach or not...who knows." He kissed her forehead then took off into the woods.

--7 Days Past--

Aiden lay in bed in the late night/early morning with a terrible headache. For the past few days he had been dreaming of Leilani but not once was he able to be so close to her. It was always like she was so far away he would never be able to touch her no matter how many steps toward her he took.

He would wake up sometimes in a cold sweat but not remembering what he dreamed about. Sometimes he would wake up to Jezebel over him, just watching. (Which was pretty damn creepy)

That morning he lay looking at the top of the tent for a while then got up. He decided he would go to his new house today and actually stay there for a while. He didn't know why but his house felt lonely.

Like usual, Jezebel wanted to join him so she grabbed a basket and skipped along with them. They had five miles to walk to get to the house. Shera had given them this house but Aiden had only told Annabell and Jezebel she gave it to them. It was supposed to be for all of them.

Aiden had pondered something about Leilani....he had a question for her but hadn't seen her to ask her and doesn't know how she feels about him to ask. "Hey Jezebel..." He said from his daze. "What would it take for you to marry someone?.." He knew something about Jezebel most did. She wasn't into love like others..she required little of others affection and care to live. Aiden only wanted Leilani, she knew that about him more then any of the rest in the bunch. She seemed to be the one everyone talked to.

Jezebel looked at him then smiled. She wanted to ask if he was gonna ask the girl about marriage but one question at a time. "A good heart, honesty, and share same interests with him. Why?" She said as she picked fruit off the random trees she passed.

He blushed and looked at the ground as he walked. "No reason. Just needing another's opinion." He went back to his long train of thought.

When he was out of sight, Leilani's shoulders slumped a little, wondering what more could've gone right...and wrong. So he loved her. If there were no other women in his life. And he'd kissed her, her first kiss, and then pretended that nothing had happened. She was so completely confused.

With a quick shake, she pushed those thoughts aside and dried herself a little, flicking the last of the water off her wings before heading in the direction of her home. The route she'd taken there was, ah, rather roudabout, so she went the more direct route this time, putting her back on the porch well before the sun had set even after stopping by the fresh spring to rinse off the saltwater.

Without much ado, she dropped her clothes in a pile by the door--except for one glove, the one that held her treasures. With care and careful detail, she picked the perfect places for them around her home, even if they mostly ended up in the window by her bed. So what? she asked herself, crawling in the bed even though it was early. It wasn't like she put them there so she could gaze at the light sparkling through the crystals, or listen to the roar of the ocean in the seashell to think of him. And worry. She was bigger than that.

At least, that was what she told herself.

--7 days later...--

And he still hadn't come by. Leilani gazed out the window with a sigh as she thought about it. Was this what human women called 'waiting by the phone'? She'd heard them talking about it before, but it seemed that, invariably, he never called. Since he had promised that he wouldn't forget another of their engagements, she had pointedly not gone looking for him, but she had started to doubt even that. Her distraction was the reason why she didn't see Blank until after he'd let himself inside.

He watched her for a moment before speaking, not wanting to interrupt her. And being nosy. No one was perfect.

"We haven't seen you in a few days," Blank finally said, breaking up the silence as he propped up against the doorframe.

Leilani nearly jumped out of her skin when he finally announced his presence.

"You scared me half to death," she said breathlessly, right hand gripping her heart. What was she supposed to tell him? "I...I was just feeling a little antisocial." To her lame response, he shrugged, and she knew he knew she was telling a little story. A fib. Well, ok, a huge lie.

Over the leather band on his face, the angel raised an eyebrow at her. "I'll relay the message. I'm glad that's all though--I thought that it might have something to do with that other fairy that Kururu heard about." Three, two, one...

Leilani's shoulders slumped, and she pulled one of the scattered pillows closer to her. She didn't need to talk to anyone, and most certainly didn't want to talk to anyone about her embarrassing herself like that in front of the only chandra she...well, nevermind that. She didn't realize that she only held out until Blank mentally counted to 'one' before telling him what had happened. All of it.

"But what would you know about dating guys?" she muttered, drawing her knees up and resting her head on the pillow. When he raised an eyebrow again, she cleared her throat, remembering that he was dating one of Dark's housemates, Dontaine, a male demon. Cute, but not her type.

"Sounds like there's a little confusion," Blank said, restating the obvious. "I'm willing to bet he thinks much the same thing." To that, the fairy snorted. "Seriously, Leilani. He's confessed his love for you and all you say is 'I really like you'? I'm all for being honest, but think about it from his point of view for a second." She didn't say anything for a few moments, so he left the doorframe to kneel in front of her, 'looking' her in the eyes.

"And you might have to ask him about what this other girl said," he continued, more seriously. He didn't usually monologue with streams of advice, but she'd obviously locked herself away for the past week trying to figure it out for herself. Otherwise, she'd just been beating herself up, which was worse. At his suggestion, she looked to the floor.

"Just think about it," he said with a shrug, touching her shoulder for the briefest of moments as he stood. When he got to the door, he turned and grinned. "Or I could be full of it, and you'll just have to muddle through it yourself. But it couldn't hurt, right?"

The sound of his laughter followed him out as Leilani threw a pillow at him, trying to decide if she felt better or not.

Jezebel watched Aiden worry. "You ever...well...you ever thought of asking her the things she likes about you? I mean...she said she really likes you. There just be something appealing about you to her." To spite Jezebel's kind nature she was often mean with Aiden. Night after night since after he left the beach with that girl he would talk in his sleep. She would listen to this by his side. "Also...what do you mean by 'nothing can be called beautiful unless it has an admirer.'"

Aiden blushed again then looked away. "No, I mean. Everything about her is so wonderful. I think if I knew I wouldn't be able to see her blush or smile again I couldn't live with myself." He remembered at that point that she couldn't see, she tripped, how was she so good at getting around? Often she would hit a tree branch but most walks with her as if she was a lost child, holding her close to them and moving her away from small dangers. "You have been listening to me sleep...or talk in my sleep...why?"

She smiled as she stopped and searched for fruit on another tree. "I wish I had someone who cared that much about me." She stopped as she heard a sound near her but it wasn't Aiden, someone different that maybe lived around here. Her hearing was much more acute then his.

Aiden looked around then noticed the area a bit. It was near Leilani's house. "Why did you stop? Lets go. You are the one who wanted fruit. You don't hurry you will be trying to find the house by yourself." He said coldly then looked around once more to make sure there was no bears or wild cats out here.

Jezebel ignored the noise. "Fine meanie!" She grabbed the basket then linked arms with Aiden. "Lets go."

Blank didn't admit it, but he was a little concerned when he'd left Leilani's house. She'd been cooped up for a week now, and still nothing. He'd hoped that either giving her advice or riling her temper would stir her up, but she was still there. Sulking. Thinking. He sighed, wings folding and unfolding restlessly as he walked. He didn't know how she flew through here. Must be a fairy thing.

As he got farther from her house, he thought he heard something, so he paused a moment, his hears swiveling in the direction the noise had come. After a short moment, he realized it was other people talking. Not far from where he was, there was a fresh trail, along with one of the fruit of the islands. Scooping it up, he followed, half wanting to make sure they didn't drop it and half that pesky nosy thing again. Approaching from behind, he saw two chandra--one male fairy, one female in a black dress, who was carrying the basket with fruit in it.

No, that would just be too coincidental..

"Miss?" he called softly. "I think you dropped this."

Jezebel's ears shifted backward and she turned around, the smell of him caught her. "Aiden...can you get that for me?" She said sweetly and turned around to face the male who had called for her.

Aiden cocked an eyebrow at the male then took the fruit and took a bite of the pear. "Thanks." He said with a cheeky smile, teasing Jezebel.

"Hey! Thats for the house!" She snorted then gave up easily on the fight between them. "Anyway, thank you kind sir."

Aiden nodded then grabbed her arm again. "We must be on our way." He said sharply then took another bite out of the pear. He turned away then slowly started to walk again.

"Maybe you can go to the city and get that diamond cut for her. They pay big money for those there. But you would have to get the diamond back from her." Jezebel suggested hopefully, she was worried about him in a way. He was crappy and really quiet, he barely even talked to Moss.

"Would you just shut up about her?! If I want to talk to her I will go and talk to her, mkay?" He didn't expect an answer to that. He just walked a bit faster.

Blank didn't say anything as he watched the fairy take the fruit...and eat it, when the woman was clearly gathering it for something else, but his ears flicked back slightly. This couldn't be the fairy that Leilani spoke so highly of.

"Not a problem," he responded wryly. Because it would be difficult to tell, he watched the other male closely, trying to see what his sister saw in him. Oh, she wasn't really his sister, but she didn't really have a family, so he stepped in to fill the big brother shoes when he needed to. Seemed like now was one of those times. When the woman talked about a large, uncut diamond, he had to fight off a sigh. Maybe it was symbolic and this...chandra was better than he seemed. As the pair walked off, Blank grinned and waved.

"Don't worry," he said, "I'll tell her you said hello."

He stopped dead in his tracks and turned back to the male. He knew Leilani. No, more then that, he was close to her. His face turned scarlet. He was at the male's face in a heartbeat. "Please..." His ears lay back and his heart seemed to beat at a quicker pace. "Don't even tell her I was near here. I..." He words were lost in his thoughts.

"Why don't you tell him to tell her how you love to see her blush when you touch her? Or how when you kissed her you felt like everything in the world was right and nothing could take that moment away from you.." Jezebel mocked from behind him, half these things he had said when he slept. "You are the weirdest person I have ever met when it comes to love. " She wouldn't steal Val's words from her but he was like a teenager, he didn't know what to do with himself. He had lived beyond that time where school was where your first relationship and first heartbreak happened.

Aiden turned quickly and looked at her. "Thats the problem! Love...she only likes me! You can get rid of someone you like..you can forget someone you like. It hurts when someone you love leaves you." He shouted at her then looked back at Blank. "Just don't even mention I was around..." He said softly then grabbed Jezebel, this time not so soft. He said a new things to her on the way but by the time he had said them Blank most likely didn't hear them.

Blank was torn between laughing hysterically at the both of them and shaking his head. They were so young and foolish. All in all, he couldn't say much, but of all the things he'd been in his relationship with Dontaine, foolish was not one of them. He settled on a chuckle as he reclined against a tree, casually watching them go.

"So you love her, huh?" he said, before they got out of earshot, casually inspecting his claws. "Funny. Sounds to me like you left her. Ran, actually." He was baiting the tiger and he knew it, but before he dropped the bomb on this foolish pup he wanted to know the way he really felt.

Aiden could feel his teeth being worn away as he ground them together. It made his head hurt. Whoever this guy was...he knew how to get to anyone. Aiden thought he would be able to stand it till he stopped and turned around. "What is she doing right now? When you last saw her..what was she doing?"

Jezebel was sure he was gonna go off on the male but his question was so out of the blue she didn't know how to take it. "Aiden..I think you should go see her." She whispered behind him. "I mean look at yourself. I bet you look at bad as you sound. Val is worried about you.."

He ignored Jezebel, he just stared at the male. Content on getting an answer. He wanted the truth.

Blank wasn't sure if he wanted to admit to this Aiden character that this very moment, Leilani was probably still sitting on the floor of her house, looking out the window and pretending she wasn't waiting for him to com see him. Pretending she didn't love him. He shrugged.

"If you really wanted to know what she was doing," he said, "then why don't you go see for yourself? But no, you're afraid." Blank snorted. "She won't get a chance to really leave you if you don't give her a chance to be with you in the first place." Just tell me that you love her, make me believe it and I'll tell you anything...Just make her smile again.
