I love: Anne McCaffrey, Isaac Asimov, Garth Nix, Terry Pratchett, Neil Stephenson. At the moment I am reading Snow Crash, by the latter. Yay for SF books! PS. The new doctor who sucks! Do you agree?

Dan Abnett, so what if he writes Warhammer 40.000 fiction, the man can write and that's what counts! His greatest strength lies in telling the story so visually that it's easy to imagine what is happening in the book. Must be a gimmick from his comic book writing days.
He's a great writer, nothing of the Black Flame range compares to his Eisenhorn trilogy or the ongoing Ravenor saga.

Terry Goodkind and his Sword of Truth Series. Hands down, my favorite Author ever. I own all of the books, and I am eagerly awaiting the next one, set for September. Everything is flawless in those books. From the way he portrays the character, to the events, to the language he uses, it's all amazing. It was those books that got me into massive reading. Each one is between 700-900 pages in length, and there's nine of them so far. Funny thing is, People think I'm wierd for liking -no, loving- 800 page books at the age of 16. I say they're the strange ones. Most of my gifted/enriched classmates have trouble reading a 250 page book. They complain it's too long.

Let's see...I love all of the books by Sara Douglass. She is my favorite author. Other favorite books are the Vampire Huinter D series...Don't know who the author is on that...I also love the books Dhampir, Thief of Lives and Sister of the Dead...I can't remember who the author of them is, because one of my friends has stolen them all from me. Other honorable mentions: David Eddings, Elizabeth Haydon, J.K. Rowling, Garth Nix...And I think that is all for now. There are loads more, but that's all I ccan think of at the moment.

I'm a big fan of Neal Shusterman's work... He's probably the only author I look for in particular when I go to a bookstore. Otherwise, I just scan around for interesting stuff.
Shusterman's writing style isn't really anything special... In fact, for most of his books, it's rather low-level. The writing style seems to be aimed at middle schoolers, and it probably is. The books are short (With the exception of the Scorpion Shards trilogy, which aren't exactly long, either.) However, the man definitely has some of the most original ideas I've read in a while. Some of the concepts start off rather stupid and trite, the kind of thing you've seen a million times before, but he builds upon them in ways that are very distanced from the norm. The stories stray so far from the beaten path that they're unrecognizable, and well worth reading despite the ease.

My favorite author is Robert Jordan, and my favorite books are all those in his series: The Wheel of Time. I also enjoy Orson Scott Card, Douglas Adams, and Elizabeth Haydon (whom not many people have heard of, it seems).

I would have to say that so far my favorite author has been Dean Koontz. I have read several of his books. The one that I enjoyed most though was Odd Thomas, as it is the first one that I have read that was written in first person. I thought that was a neat thing to do, so you only knew his side of everything and what went through his mind. The ending was sad though.
I also enjoy many other books, including those written by Christine Feehan, although I have only read a few (like 3).
I liked the Golden Compass by Philip Pulman, it was good.
I enjoy to read books like Upon the Head of the Goat and The Lost Key, books set in the time of the holocost/WWII, telling the stories of the people in that time. However, I have not read all of The Diary of Anne Frank, but I do not feel I would enjoy it, I don't know why.
I also enjoy reading the Harry Potter series.
There are many, many other books that I enjoy reading, and those are just the few off the top of my head.

First of all, my favorite type of books is fantasy. My favorite author of all time is Terry Brooks. I love all of his Shannara books. I won't list them all, but there are quite a few. The just keep on going; it's awesome. I'm currently on The High Druid of Shannara: Jarka Ruus and I'd have to say my favorite is The Sword of Shannara, the one that started it all.
Being a fantasy lover, I also like Tamora Pierce and her work. I've only read The Immortals series by her, though.
And of course, I love Lord of the Rings. Then again, who doesn't? ^_^ (This is what will happen to people who says they don't like LotR: burning_eyes )

Shidobu Cloud DarkElf27 Favorite Author has to be Micheal Crighton. Author of such stories as Jurassic Park, Airframe, and Prey. MC rules everything! I loved the Jurassic Park books, and Congo wasn't bad. Then came Timeline... AWESOME! I prefer the Andromeda Strain. Favorite authors? Let's see....I'm quite fond of science fiction, so I have read books by L. Ron Hubbard (Battlefield: Earth was quite good....A bit lengthy, however.), Orson Scott Card, and Isaac Asimov. I find it quite hard to pick a favorite book....I suppose it would be "Battlefield: Earth", though "Foundation and Empire" falls right behind it. Believe it or not, I'm actually more fond of the prequel to "Foundation" which was written after the series was finished. However....It may feel a bit odd if you read that before "Foundation". Someone who has read the series may understand what I mean. Who said "Snow Crash"?! -looks around with a wild glint in his eye- I've been looking for that book for a few months.....-foams at the mouth- Must....have!
