Moira felt a pang of regret as she saw the younger girl's face. Oh. I was right. However, that was replaced with a mixture of anger and pity as the girl continued her rant. "Lucky for us then, no one gives a care what you think. Unfortunately, your mouth runs a lot for what little thought comes out of it. Unfortunately, we have to go. Plans already made, can't be broken, et cetera , but please feel free to stay, and shut up." She put a hand gently on the young Gryffindor's shoulder and lead her away from the tree, and towards the quilt she had spread for herself and Judas.

"Oh and people care about what you think?" she snapped, but Moira was already walking away. Makala turned on her heel and walked away, looking for another student to bully - one Moira wouldn't come to the rescue of. She was angry she had seemed to spot the Muggle in her, and briefly wondered if others had noticed too, but hadn't said anything. But she pushed that though out of her mind and continued her walk, circling the lake.

Moira turned to look behind only once, and when she saw the girl walking away, she relaxed a bit. She released the little Gryffindor and looked at her, smiling smally. "Hey, are you ok? I hope you don't mind that I broke that up." She looked back again to ensure the Slytherin wouldn't return.

Kari kept silent for the rest of the arguement and then allowed herself to be led away, all the while staying quiet. It wasen't until the older Gryffindor spoke to her that she opened her mouth. Y-yes. I'm okay now. And I don't m-mind. I'm glad you came and stopped her. She looked up and smiled softly.

Moira gave the girl a large smile. "Well you're just fine now. What's your name? I'm Moira." She flung herself down onto the blanket and slid the picnic basket over, making room for the younger Gryffindor. She didn't know where Judas had gotten to, but she wasn't alone now, so the time didn't seem so long.

Kari hesitated for a few moments before going and kneeling on the blanket where Moira made room for her and placed her hands in her lap. "My name...is Kari." She spoke softly, looking down at her hands while she did as she answered Moira's question.

Moira beamed at the girl. "What a nice name! I'm waiting to have a picnic with a friend, but he might be a while, you're welcome to sit as long as you like. I've got pumpkin juice in here too, if you want." She gestured to the picnic basket. She reached in herself and pulled out a mug, magiced so it wouldn't spill. She wrapped her hands around the mug and looked out over the lake. "It's so beautiful here. I still can't get over it."

Kari glanced up to look at the picnic basket and at Moira for a moment before looking back down at her lap. "Thank you for what you did. I don't think I formally thanked you yet." She glanced up again to smile at Moira as she looked at the lake. "Yes. It's very beautiful."

Moira nodded to the girl's thanks. Not really necessary but you're most welcome. It was wrong of her to pick on you. She's a Slytherin, though, so that's what to expect I guess. Are you her year?" Moira sipped the juice and found it perfectly chilled. Oh magic. She loved being a witch, and couldn't wait for Edgar to be old enough to attend school, so they could share in the experience.

Kari nodded her head as Moira accepted her thanks and then tried to settle and calm herself. "Why are Slytherins like that? Or is it only some who are so cruel? And I'm not sure which year she was, but I'm third year." Kari explained.

Makala was still walking around the lake, glad she seemed to have put quite a bit of distance between her and the Gryffindors. She kicked her feet as she walked, feeling very bitter indeed. Plopping down on the ground right next to the lake, she glared into the water at her reflection. She looked just the same as always - cocoa brown eyes, tanned heart shaped face, long chocolate brown hair in perfect curls - yet...she had known. That stupid, nosy seventh year had known!
But how? she demanded angrily. If anyone looked at her, it'd be almost impossible to tell she had any Muggle heritage, even if her father was one. She'd been practiced at hiding it, even from the ones who could look close enough at a person and know.
Fuming, Makala picked up a stray rock beside her, brought back her arm, and hurled it into the lake. She watched the ripples it made as the rock made contact with the water and sunk into it's most likely icy depths. She sat there for a few moments, simply watching the lake as she had done earlier before she started picking on Kari. Before Moira came and accused her of being a halfblood...
Stop. It was impossible to get it out of her mind. Don't think of it. Not here. Not now. She couldn't. It was too easy to start visably freaking over something like this, and if that happened, she wanted it to be away from the public's prying eyes. She stood once again and resumed her walk around the lake.

"Normally I would say that they are all cruel. But this year kind of changed that for me, if only a little. The boy I'm supposed to meet here is Slytherin, but he's really great. Not at all like that girl. Some of them are worse too. I don't know why it's that way, but it's been that way for as long as anyone can remember. Mostly, I just steer clear of them." Moira wondered if she was rambling, and blushed. Sometimes her mouth got away from her. Edgar never hesitated to tell her when to hush though. It was one of the things she loved about her baby brother. Smiling slightly, she realized she had been thinking about him a lot today. I'll have to send an owl home, and tell him I'm missing him.

Kari listened intently as Moira spoke to her and nodded when she agreed with something or just wanted to prove she was listening. "I hope this boy you're supposed to meet comes by soon. I would like to meet a nicer Slytherin." She smiled softly and looked down at her lap.

Moira gave a quick laugh. "Me too! I'm starving! Well, ok not starving, but super hungry." She sipped at her juice. She was raised to never say starving, as she was raised in good standing, and would never know starving. There were people that were, and she should be lucky. Her parents had been pretty adamant about it. Or should I say my adoptive parents now? I mean, now that I might have the chance to know my real parents? Despite herself, she let out a discontented sigh.

Kari giggled despite herself as Moira claimed she was super hungry. It had been a while since she had laughed, giggled, or even smiled. It seemed like that wasen't possible for her here. She had always been shy and only laughed when she was at home, with her parents, with her Mother. Sighing softly at the memory, Kari put herself in a more comfortable position and closed her eyes.
