I used to smoke. I had an epiphany one night while in a movie theater, went out for one last smoke, then announced that I quit. I've smoked a few times since, but only in times of serious stress. It's just the whole motion of taking something into your lungs and watching it blow out. I love that and that's the only thing that ever kept me smoking.

I think the organic "movement" is falling into the fad category. Which is good in that more people are trying it. But I mean, people don't necessarily care. I never smoked (tobacco...) and never will!

I don't smoke anything and I never really have. In my younger days I'd have a cigar when I went to a club and then later on I began smoking with my boss once each day just to get out of the store because he needed a buddy. I never bought a pack of my own though. As for marijuana, I never got into it. I tried it once in high school and it didn't do anything. I tried it again much later and it made me sick. Even later still, I became very close to someone who smokes often each day. The contact puts me to sleep plus I hate the smell.
I know a lot of nature-loving hippie-type people smoke the herb because they say it's the thing to do. Personally I don't get it and I think maybe that's just an excuse. I know about all the supposed benefits. I'm not denying they may exist. I think that if you need it medically you should be taking it in a pill or eating it. Smoking anything is harmful to the lungs. Smoking anything without a filter is worse. Smoking anything that you didn't personally grow is risky on top of that. People around here lace the product with things, plus there are a ton of pesticides because it's a cash crop and nobody here cares if it's natural.
I feel unfortunate that I became the closest to someone who relies so heavily on something I don't agree with. If I wasn't afraid I'd grow it myself so it was safe for them. I know everyone says it's not addictive, so why does the person I love most need it so badly? Why is it when they try to quit they can't?
Anyway, I don't judge people who smoke anything. I've seen some people act so nasty toward others for smoking a cigarette. Those same people often find weed to be just fine. Some people want to quit smoking but haven't become strong enough yet. I just don't see a reason to be malicious toward people who choose to do it.

I used to smoke pot a bit, on and off, however I don't really like what it does to me. These days I'll do it with my family/at a party. I smoke very occasionally, less than once a month on average, I do it instead of drinking - which affects me very badly.

I do not smoke. I try to avoid breathing in other people's smoke too. I used to have two friends who smoked, and it was kind of weird because they were all into organic gardening and everything. Kind of seemed contradictory that they'd put the smoke into their body but not the pesticides, you know? But, hey, I guess one kind of poison is better than two!

My mom and most of my family smokes, it burns the hell out of my nose. And i really hate being around them when they do it. And to be honest, i totally think people who smoke cigarettes yet eat organically, are very 'contradictory' and should just stop wasting their money on organic...they're already killing their bodies.

I always felt the same way. People who preach about not using chemicals and eating organically and being good to the earth, smoking all the while, always made me want to smack them.
