I gotta say it was the music and their style in clothes! I love their punkish clothes.XD but yeah it was music too.I loved the unique rhythms they had...wayyyy different than the music in US and China.

ガンダム ← 'nough said. sweatdrop

If you like the big bots you should pay a visit to the Bandai museum. There they have a life sized replica of a Gundam head

I know over at the Tokyos' Bandai visual theme park, they have gundam heads that you get into, and play an arcade game. Similar to a Pilot Simulator, which was awesome.

Be careful in arcades. They eat money like no one's business. Also don't expect to beat anyone in a fighting game. The average skill set is much higher than here in in the states.

Lol, well if you put it that way. But what happened if I said, I won in an international Tekken Tag tournament. It wasn't big really, but I had to go to Barcelona for that. True that japs are good, but that doesn't make them god at the games. (even if they make it sweatdrop )
What. I demand to see a match of you in action. And while that is true I majority of Japanese arcade players tend to be more proficient on a routine basis.

Also the term Jap is a well known insulting way American WWII soldiers used to refer to the Japanese. I advice you use it extremely sparingly with extreme caution in Japanese-centric communities

GASP!? Your right... I apologize ><; I'll go ahead and post a video of me playing, when I get the chance. As for the whole name calling I extremely apologize.

Honestly... The first thing that got me interested in Japanese were Dragon Ball Z and Poke'mon ((and I always got mad when people called it pok-ee-man)). But later on I got more interested in their culture and art style ((mostly Manga)) so I decided to learn the language and after I get out of school I am going there for a long vacation. ^^

I remember being interested in things that were Japanese long before I knew they were from Japan. But, the thing that made me fully aware of Japan was Pokemon. I was about ten or eleven when it first came out. Like a lot of kids at the time I became obsessed with it. Once I found out Pokemon was from Japan I looked into magazines and books and found out that a lot of things I already loved were originally from Japan. Ninjas, ramen, green tea, Sailor Moon, Megaman, Dragon Ball Z, kimonos, Nintendo, and much more. I became curious, just that.

However, my curiousity brought me to other anime other than Pokemon, DBZ, and Sailor Moon. Toonami and Yugioh caught my attention and then my interest exploded. Soon I was begging my mom to let me buy books on Japan and the Japanese language. I began studying as well. Sure, I was the cliche kid that found Japan through anime and manga, but I would never, ever call myself an otaku (for those of you that do, please don't assume it's cute. The real meaning of the word is kin to an insult).

As for now, my interests have gone into Japanese culture in general, Japanese popculture, fashion, Japanese rock music, and mythology among other things.

I'm not sure if I already posted before, but I would pretty much say that's mostly the exact same reason that got me so interested in japan. Just watching English dubs of anime and then learning anime was from Japan expanded my interest in the culture. I'm completely in love with it.

Taking Japanese in high school is what did it for me.

I started out with anime and manga, after all, it's really cool.
But then I started reading about Japanese culture and decided
that Japan was super awesome.

So what could I do besides learn Japanese and someday go to Japan!

My dad never taught me any of my african hertiage so I guess I adopted this one.

I was first attracted to the traditional culture.
Then I also came to like hearing and learning languages.
Perhaps some of the country's history also makes me curious...
My enthusiasm to travel and experience the world drives me to single out a few preferred countries...
And just recently I've gotten into anime, a little bit of j-rock and pop culture there...

My dad used to go on business trips all over the place. When he went to Japan, I remember him sending postcards of their gardens and some Geisha. He also brought home a lovely scented jewelry box that played the Haru Sakura song and I would listen to it while he told me about how Japan is just a completely different world. I suppose I've always been enchanted with it. It also helps that they have one of the prettiest writing systems in the world.

I think anime/manga play a role in my interest in Japan and Japanese language/culture but the main thing is I feel it would bring me closer to my mom who died when I was younger. I think it'd be cool to check out her original country.
