Julien blinked at her, trying to decipher her expression for a few moments before he finally caught on, and his face darkened finally, embarrassment offering a faintly better camouflage for those few moments. He tried to scrunch down into the bush more, hearing the way the leaves rustled and the branches beneath him crackled at his movements, and suddenly, he was laughing at himself, at the thought that he could somehow compete.

Upon hearing the laughing fit, Kurios was quick to run over. He shone the torch onto the pair, glancing between the hysterical Julien, and his bewildered Kashya. He wasn't sure what was to make of it, had an animal of some kind crawl into his clothing, or maybe a lead had tickled him. Though he doubted it would be this extent. Kurios knocked his head yo the side, tterly confused as to how he should stand on this one...maybe go get Mir or seomthing. Was this normal for him?

Kashya's puzzlment soon got tinged with her trace amount of disapointment. “You got us caught,” she said tiredly from the running. She hardly saw what was funny about the situation, but she kept her face as sweet as it always was, smiling along with Julien. "What humour is there in this situation?" She asked pleasently, thoguh she felt a light laugh in her throat. It seem Julien's fit was catching.

Julien's face was red as a beet as he gathered himself together, far darker from embarrassment than humor, and he sighed softly. "I'm laughing at the thought that I could ever be as good as the two of you," he said, smile still on his face. He rose, stretching a bit before holding out a hand for the flashlight. "I was worried about one of you maybe getting lost or hurt. I should've been worried about being soundly trounced," he added, rolling his eyes at himself. "Sorry I'm horrible at it."

Kashya shook her head diligently. “You’re just playing wrong,” she commented, pacing over to stand next a large tree. She jumped for the nearest branch, missing it for a long shot. “If Julien tried getting higher up instead of lower, he might win,”
“But not against you,” Kurios said, pointing out Kashya’s obvious skills at playing.
She turned a small shade of red pointing her head downwards as if she had done something wrong, with a proud smile hidden under her fringe “I really haven’t played before,”

Kurios handed over the light, looking back at the house. “I was only out here for a game, so I think I’ll go head in. Please keep paying, but bring it closer to the house,” With that parting comment Kurios gave Julien one warning glance, and turned to go. The houselights where still on and marked his way back easily.

Kashya watched his figure walk back into the house’s porch light and knock on the door, before turning back to Julien. “I don’t mind playing again,” she said impishly.

Julien turned back to her, grinning widely as he bowed, the over-the-top gesture saved by the obvious good humor attached. "And I don't mind losing again," he assured her, warm happiness in his face. "It's my turn to be it, I do believe?" As he walked with her to the deck of the house, his eyes searched her face again, and it occurred to him that she really was a beautiful girl, and would grow into an exquisite woman. "Just promise you'll stay in hearing distance?"

Kashya laughed, a pleased feeling that the white headed avenger was still looking after her even now that his eagle like patrol officer had left the scene. “I shall stay in distance,” she confirmed. “I’ll need to hear you counting anyway,”

A Julien moved further away, she took herself back into the trees hidings, looking between one tree and another for hidey holes and coverage. A small flicker of movement caught her interest and with a cautiousness to it, she moved her little hands to brush away some bracken and follow the sound, careful to stay within hearing distance.

Julien returned to the deck, trusting Kashya to keep her word as he began to count. It made him feel better, knowing that she'd stay close enough to hear him and for him to hear her. At least then, if something happened, he'd be able to reach her, most likely. He began to count, being certain to pace the numbers slowly, to give her ample time to hide... not that she really needed it, given how good she was!

"Julien,” Kashya called back, though her voice had a hush to it, as if her call was supposed to be whispered.

In front of her, was a small creature, it’s bushy tails and eye bright and alert underneath the dark circles which ringed it’s pupils. The Racoon was, although considered to be feral by most, had a harmless attitude about it. Seeming more lazy than an attacker. Kashya had never seen the ring tailed being before, and was absolutely amused by its quirks. She smiled at it coaxing the thing not to be afraid. She wanted Julien to come and see it also, save him from being beaten by her…again.

Caught by the soft voice, Julien looked up, frowning a little. But Kashya didn't sound as though she were scared or in pain. If anything, the voice had the oddest hint of excitement to it. "Are you okay?" he called back, his own voice somewhat hushed as he made his way carefully to her. Whatever it was... he wasn't taking any chances.

Kashya was crouched slightly, making herself appear even smaller to the strange creature. Her face filled with unsaid thoughts of what it could be.

It looked up as both Kashya and the thing heard Julien getting closer, saying something in reply. She would have called back, but he was so close already, and that would only frighten it more. Kashya's gaze returned the racoon in thought, her hand slipping to be placed just under her jawline as she thought only more about how uniqe it was.

Her eyes caught Julians when she could, nodding her head in the direction of the small thing, genuenly entranced by it. Her smile was not that of her normal shyness, but of true frivolity at the discovery of something new and the chance to share it with another.

Julien immediately froze but for the blooming smile on his face. Rarely without it anyway, now it was filled with a wonder, and he knelt down, trying to appear as small as he could. He shone the flashlight a bit away from it, not catching it in the beam itself but hoping that it would still be more easily visible for being somewhat near the light. And he said nothing, not wanting to scare it until he could determine if it was on a scavenging hunt, or if it were hurt.

The creature looked at the new male, twisting its head this way and that. With him, he brought a light, brighter than most stars to the creature, and it made to move away from it, it's tail dragging on the earthy ground. It needed food, but whatever these two things were, they had none.

Kashya cooed gently at it, wishing she could see it up close. she looked at Julien thankfully, glad he had not scared it off.

The moment the raccoon moved, Julien froze, dropping the light down so that it wasn't so close to the creature. It didn't feel hurt to Julien, but he had to admit that he didn't know everything, either about his powers or about raccoons.

"I think he just wanted food," Julien said with a smile, as the creature continued to amble off, away from the light and the larger creatures waiting for it. Moving to stand beside Kashya, Julien smiled down at her. "The night really is perfectly your element, isn't it?"

Kashya didn't feel any saddness when the thing scurried away. It needed to do things just as any other did, and to keep it trapped in their gaze would only make it late before the dawn's rising, or worse, more obvious for other creatures to hunt. Her eyes followed it until she too, stood from her crouch next to Julien.

His question made her feel happy inside, to know that others could see how much more at home she felt here made her feel as if it were not only in her mind. As she did most days, her expressions spoke more than what her words could say, smiling thinly with a pure look of fulfilment. Her eyes practically held their own moonlight in each iris. "It's not like I had much say in it really...," she replied. Her voice sounding more childish in the cool air. "..and, yet I couldn't imagine it another way,"

She thought back to when when julien had seen her in the daytime, tired and so unaware of her surroundings that she hardly recalled the evnt. Though Julien could remember it clear as anything. Seeing in daylight was like looking through a small hole with limited view and a fogged over glass. She could see endlessly here, where trees sung in a choir of endless howls and stars performed light shows for the own amusment.
"But I think that pie was still waiting to come out the oven," she hinted, seeing that the game had come to a close.

Julien chuckled, nodding at her as he agreed. "If you're ready to go in now, I can dish up some pie for us," he noted, then frowned at himself, shaking his head. "Or rather, I can make the pie for us, and we can bring it out here to eat, if you'd like to do that instead. Mireille has some nice cushions for her deck chairs that I can set in place, and we can sit and talk and enjoy the night?"

Turning toward the house, he offered her the crook of his arm in an impishly antique gesture, warmth in his eyes. "I even have whipped cream for the top of the pie," he added.
