She started to reply, then stiffened when he touched her, using every miniscule thread of restraint within her to avoid hurting him, though she couldn't stop herself from her next reflexes. Her hands flashed from her mouth to his paw and flipped him forward over her shoulder, twisting to leap over him as he hit the ground and flash her claws scant millimeters away from his throat. Terrified that she'd hurt him or scared him away from being her freind she began to stutter and hover over him, her still bleeding hand sending little droplets flying through the air as she flailed about not knowing what to do. "I'm sorry!!! I'm really sorry! I didn't mean to-! I mean-" suddenly she stopped, realizing that she was acting very unlike a Warrior, sitting still at attention and gazing down at him with what she could manage of a calm expression and voice, "I mean- Are you alright?"

Oliver had not been expecting what had come next. As he hit the ground, his breath was knocked out. He coughed once to get it back. He closed his eyes, remaining calm. "I'm not going to die," he groaned with a laugh as he sat up. He took a deep breath, still trying very hard not to be angry with her. He understood reflexes very well, and this seemed to be one she had ingrained into her. "I know now never to touch you again." He attempted a smile.

"Oh, I didn't-" she tried to keep the distress from her voice as she tried to explain, "It's just-..." She gave up and turned around, knowing it was no use; he hated her now. "It's not like I don't want to be touched..." she said, cradling her hand in her lap and studying the way the blood trickled down her fingers, "But, when I came here, and I was like this..." She had despised the fact that she had been made almost Twoleg, and at first wouldn't let anyone even see her, hiding in the treetops to avoid meeting people. When she had gotten used to be seen as an almost Twoleg she still wasn't used to being touched by people, feeling that they were seing and judging her as if she really was a Twoleg. It truly was horrid to her to become like something that had killed or entrapped so many of her kin.

Oliver watched her carefully. It was apparent that she felt bad. He knew that. And he knew there was still something bothering her. "It's alright," he repeated as he slowly stood. He didn't just mean it was alright that she had attacked him. He meant it as a reassurance that she would be alright. Despite what her clan would think, despite what he thought, she would be alright. He looked at her bloody hand and sighed. He moved closer to her again, this time be more careful. He knew she would refuse to see a doctor, it didn't seem like something she would accept. "Does your hand hurt?"

"It's not alright," she said through gritted teeth, "And no, it doesn't hurt." She was really failing as a Warrior now. Especially now, as the blood on her fingers was currently being mixed with something more clear and salty, running smoothly from her face to her fingertips and dripping silently into the dirt. She tried to turn away from Oliver, picking up her stone knife and continueing with her original task of separating the tree from its roots.

Oliver sighed and didn't pushed her any further. He knew she was suffering and it almost hurt him to watch. She didn't like being the way she was, that much was clear. She didn't think her clan would accept her. But he didn't understand why. To him, she was perfect. "Alright," he said soothingly as he set back to helping to free the log.

"Thank you," she said quietly as they continued their task, "You don't have to help me like this, especialy after..." The last piece of bark snapped and the tree shifted a little, finally free of the earth. Without saying anything more she hefted the end of the tree and began to drag it through the forest, feeling much better about doing something that excersized her back muscles, something that wouldn't really change whether she walked on twolegs or four.

Oliver was about to say something when she finally cut through the roots and began to haul the log off. Oliver picked up the branched he had and moved to help her and lifted the other end of the log. He let them walk in silence and didn't speak until they were back in the clearing. "I know I don't have to. I want to help," he stated.

"Well, then thank you even more," she said, trying to manage a smile. It was a little crooked, but it was a smile. Now they had to strip the top branches off of the tree, which she turned to get started on when she realized she lost her sharp rock. She looked around and scratched her head, wondering where it went.

Oliver grinned at her crooked smile. He was glad she was possibly feeling a little better. He watched her as she seemed to be looking for something. "Lose something?" he asked as he kept his gaze on her.

(will Brightshadow dislike him when she finds out how human like he is? XD he is going to wear clothes when he becomes and anthro and he has a bow and stuff and lives in an apartment >.< )

(Maybe he can show her that all Twolegs aren't bad? xd )

"Just my rock," she said, sighing and getting down on all fours to look for a new one. "Maybe I shouldn't go back..." she said suddenly, "I know they'd think I've broken the Warrior Code; I think I've broken the Warrior Code. Nobody would welcome me back, they'd probably refuse to beleive that I was even Brightshadow... Even Brambleleaf would probably reject me..." No matter how much she tried to escape the worries that she was no longer a Warrior they kept coming back. Maybe it was because she was finally talking to another Namir? She was trying to explain and prove how she was a Warrior as she usualy did to herself, but now there was the chance that the person she had to prove she was a Warrior to wouldn't beleive it as easily.

Realizing she was wanting to cut the branches and such off the log, he debated getting out his pocket knife. But he wasn't sure she would react well to that. He didn't want to offend her. Then he suddenly paused his thoughts when she spoke again. He listened to her carefully. Now that he knew she looked different than they remembered her, he understood more what she meant. He was silent for a moment, then spoke. "Do you think you can learn to be happy here?"

Brightshadow paused, millions of times she had asked herself that; this was the first time some one else had asked. She realized how different it was living on her own to living with others. "I don't know," she said, "It is a nice place; very much like the forest where the Clan lives. But I don't think the place is the problem." Her eyes widened as she heard herself say this. "The place isn't the problem; it's the fact that I've been so used to living with others, hunting, patroling, fighting for the ones still at the Camp and for the other Warriros around me. Here, here I am alone..." She knew she would miss her Clan, and that they would probably never stop searching for her, but there was no way she could return to them like this. Her options were either return to how she looked before, or... Find a new Clan? Make a new Clan? It was either that or remain alone. She stared at the log, utterly confused.

Oliver sat on the log and looked up to the sky. "It's not fun to be alone," he said, half to himself. He had never really been alone like she had, but he did know what it felt like to have to leave someone you care about. "So start over here. Make new friends. Start a new life." He shifted his gaze to look at Brish. "I guarantee it will be a lot different. But perhaps you'll like it."

"Al right, but how do I do that? All I've ever known is the Warrior Code, and I doubt any one here would go for it," she said, looking down again. Suddenly she decided she was very tired of sounding weak and pathetic. "Enough about my Clan problems," she said with a tight jaw, taking a breath and letting herself relax, "I realize you may now know a lot about me, but I don't much about you besides your name and inclination to help people." She glanced over at him, genuinly curious.
