I do that, but I wouldn't say that I "try", most of the time it's actually easier that way. It's because my school teaches in English (obviously, my current school in Sydney would teach in English, but my previous school in Hong Kong did too) and usually by the time my school teaches something in science, I would already have read it in Chinese (my first language) years before anyway. Seriously, even when I started year 11, my biology class included something that I've read in Chinese when I was in primary school.

Aren't I lucky, I go to school and everything is in a foreign language. xp

Another one: you petition for your school, or even your board of education to include more languages in the syllabus.

Similar to the previous one: you petition for languages to be scaled higher. (For those who are in a system that doesn't use scaling: basically, some subjects are considered better than others - for example, getting a high grade in physics is considered better than getting the same high grade in biology for the HSC)

Sorry if there's too much off topic information.

You love and recognise the smell of your language dictionaries. (It's true -- I have a really good nose, and can tell them apart in the dark like that. Strange...but true. I guess I spend alot of time with my face buried in them...)
