You wake up, and realize it's humid, very humid. You notice the room temperature has been raised signifently. The vents also seem to be misty almost, as you realize it's more like a steamed enviroment. Wet but hot and humid. The light above you seems to generating the most heat and you can really tell. If you were to turn off that light the temperature might drop 10 degrees or so, but it would still be fairly hot and humid.

What worries you most is that you find this very comfortable. What you don't find comfortable is an itching that seems to be spreading along your arm.

You reach to scratch it, or look at it, and see and can feel the small bumps that seem to be forming. You feel the same itching spread across parts of your face, as you notice that your body seems to be completely free of any hair it might have grown previously.

You watch the little bumps turn a green color, as you see now they are growing into scales. All the while the comfort of the room distracting you as well. Part of you almost seems like it wants to bask and not worry about what is happening.

You look at your feet, and you notice the toes seem to be legthening, as both your fingers and toenails seem to be thickening into nails.

Your mouth feels strange, as your teeth are actually sharpening, not very noticable at first, but you find yourself craving vegetables and fruits. In fact, you will probably never crave meat again.

Your toes finish legthening, being almost the length of your fingers, but not as flexible and jointed. And you new scales seem to run partly along your arms , and partly along your legs, along your nose, and your cheeks.

You feel another pain, as your tail bone legthens. After a long painful endevor you can reach back and feel a short but fairly strong nub, that seems to be covered in the same scales that cover your body.

Your hearing begins to dim ever so slightly as your outer ears begin to shrivel, shrinking down to probably half of their original size at best.

Your tongue feels strange in your mouth as it is barely noticable but it is already adjusting to become longer, stronger, and more flexible. If you play around with the odd sensations you will probably notice. Oddest of all, by exposing it to air you can almost lightly taste someone and the chemicals they are giving off. Eventually you may realize you can taste moods.

After this long, and discomforting transformation, you bask in the heat and realize, your no longer completely human.

The Transformation
(25% Complete)

Amaya stirred from her fitful slumber and rolled over. God it felt so good in here... wait. Green eyes inched open as she sat up, looking around the room. Why did it feel so... comfortable in here? It was HOT but she liked it. Her gaze traveled up to the lamp above and she almost immediately wanted to lie down and let the heat sink into her skin. She shook her head to get those thoughts out of her mind and scratched at her arm, which seemed to be itching a LOT.

Her hand froze in place as instead of smooth skin under her shirtsleeve, bumps great her fingertips. Amaya's eyes widened and she pulls back the sleeve of her nightshirt to look at her arm in horror. The bumps on her arm were turning into... into... SCALES! Letting out a frightened screech, she quickly put her sleeve back down and shut her eyes tight. Her breathing becoming labored and filled with fear as the same itching spread to her face and legs. Every now and then she would reach up and scratch at her face with the back of her shirtsleeve, too frightened to actually touch the scales that were forming on her body.

Calm down. Just... lay down and act like this isn't happening... Amaya started to lay down but shot back up the second the word 'basking' came to mind. Oh god. Ohgodohgodohgod. She shivered involuntarily, despite how comfortable her mind was telling her she was.

Amaya's thoughts then seemed to be pushed away as an incredible pain shot through her hands and feet. She let out a startled squeak and grit her teeth, curling into a ball with her hands hanging over her head. She didn't want to watch, she was too scared to... but she could tell what was happening by the sheer feeling of it all. Her fingers lengthened along with her toes, ripping through the rainbow toe socks she wore. Nails hardened and became more like claws. The young girl refused to move them afraid of what reaction she might get and too scared to look up from her knees.

The pain seemed to spread to her mouth then, though it wasn't nearly as bad. The craving for salad and fruit increased almost ten fold and her gums throbbed as her teeth sharpened. She could feel her toes stop growing and wondered for a moment if they had somehow turned into hands or something but was too frightened to try and move them for fear of proving herself right. A strange feeling and sensation in Amaya's mouth drew her attention to it for merely a second before the most pain of all shoots up her spine.

Letting out a cry, she leapt forward and curled into the fetal position on the bed. Tears streaming down her face as the pain shoots down her spine.

Daddy... Mommy... Oh my god... Help!

One last surge of pain runs down Amaya's spine and she lets out a painful, agonizing sob before falling back onto the sheets and laying motionless. Her new long, slender fingers grasp at the locket around her neck squeezing it, body and mind numb to block out the shock of what really happened to her.

The Breakfast Club

Amaya Vaughan
---New RP---

Stupid demanding stomach. Why couldn't it... STARVE for a few days? Amaya's head peeked out of her sauna of a room and she looked around. Good. Coast was clear. Tripping a little bit, she wormed her way out of her duplex and made a beeline for the cafeteria. Ever since her feet had changed, she found it a lot easier to run like she was on tip-toes then normal walking now that her toes were so long.

Getting to the cafeteria doors her stomach gave a warning growl, indicating if she didn't pick it up it would digest itself. Growling at her own organs, she looked inside and sighed in relife as no one seemed to be in there. Good. Walking in, she got a rather large salad and a banana and sat down at a table.

For a few moments she merely sat there, stareing at her food and not wanting to eat it... but her stomach won out on the end and the young girl started to gobble down the banana. Even though her stomach had been demanding food ever since her transformation, she couldn't help but eat slowly and feel generally sorry for herself.

Greer Cassenwari
Mmm, food. Food was good. And as long as she ate large amounts of meat, Greer could generally convince her stomach to accept some greens too. Heading straight from jungle to cafeteria, she had a bit of trouble collecting her tray due to her insect net. Phasmid hunting was always way too much fun.

Catching a glance at Amaya sitting at a table out of the corner of her eye, Greer took her plate of deli meat and cucumber over and sat across from the girl, smiling and digging into her food before getting a good look at her companion. "Hello! Boy, am I hungry!"

Emerwyn
Emerwyn felt even better the next day than she had the previous evening. She woke to find herself extremely hungry. She had skipped dinner the night before. Her walk in the woods took up most of the evening.

She went into the cafeteria, once again taking only a salad. Now she began to wonder. Being aware of her transformation, she thought perhaps she was becoming a vegetarian. No problem with that Emerwyn thought, smiling. Jerrick had wanted to do that for a long time. We just couldn't stop eating Noah's steak!

She saw two familiar faces sitting together at a table. It was Greer and Amaya. As she got closer, however, she discovered one was not so familiar. Amaya's face had scales on it. Emerwyn swallowed hard. She wasn't as taken aback as she had been when she'd seen Greer for the first time. She steeled herself and sat down by them. "Hello, there!" She smiled broadly. Then looked to Amaya. "I see it's your turn." It must have happened over night.

Amaya Vaughan
OhgodGREERANDEMERWYN! QUICKHIDE! Amaya squeaked and hid the best she could, pulling the strings to the hoodie she wore. The opening around her face quickly closed, only showing her eyes and a little of the scales going up the bridge of her nose and up the sides of her face. As for her freakishly long fingers she put her banana down and hid them in the hoodies pocket, her feet curling up the best she could manage even though her skirt was a little too short to hide them. Green orbs looked down at her lap, not able to match the woman's gaze or greet them in any way.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer looked up, catching her change and reaction to company in the same five seconds. The poor dear! Putting down her fork, she put a feathered hand across the table.

"Oh Amaya, it's okay! You look fine."

Emerwyn
"Don't worry, Amaya. If you're worried about what people think, they won't think of you any less than any of us once we've begun to change... And some of us already have." she added. Emerwyn smiled. She's so young, so impressionable. It's not fair, especially for her. She had too much life ahead of her.
She turned to her baby romain lettuce. It was even better than it used to be. Especially without the bacon bits. She didn't realize how much she hated bacon...

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya shivered a little bit, though not from how cold she was. Green eyes remained on her lap as tears started to well up in her eyes.

Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry.

Even though she told herself this her head sank even further, tears falling out of the corner of her eyes and landing on the hoodie that covered her face. Why was she crying when they were being so nice to her? A few choked sobs came from behind her hoodie as she slumped. She was scared, that was why.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer stood, moved around the table, and sat down next to the young girl, putting an arm around her shoulders that was easily shrugged off if she didn't want it. "Shh, it's all right. At least the scales are pretty and match your eyes."

Emerwyn
Emerwyn smiled. Greer did not try to make the truth any smaller than it was. That's what she liked about her.
"Just know that you have friends here." she didn't know what else to say, but she knew that this much was true. She leaned in closer to them, her chocolate eyes trying to tell her, and Greer too, the same thing.

Amaya Vaughan
The contact from Greer made holding in her tears that much harder, but she didn't make any kind of move to shrug her off. She choked a few more sobs, sniffing and crying before her face balled up and a fountain of tears erupted. The young girl dove into Greer, the closest one, and wrapped her arms around her waist, bawling into her stomach and holding her tight like a frightened child unwilling to let go.

The comforting did help, regardless of what it looked like but... it was just too scary to be able to deal with it on her own. She wanted her parents back and her grandmother. Anyone to just hold her and tell her everything would be okay.

Timothy Matthews
Timothy was up early, feeling a bit energized today. He walked to the cafeteria for food when he heard voices. Being his normal shy self he stopped for a second. Listening to the voices. He heard Amaya and Greer attempting to cheer her up.

He smiled for a second, they were really nice here. So she had scales, big deal, he was turning into a skunk. But Timothy decided not to worry about himself, he had spent too many years doing just that. He smiled after thinking for a moment.

He strummed his guitar and started singing right outside the door.

"Sing softely a sweet sweet song,
To a girl who is so pretty.

Beautiful glistening scales,
Reflecting the sun.

Green eyes,
like the green of the leaves.

Sing softely a sweet sweet song,
To a girl who is so pretty.

Beautiful emerald eyes,
Reflecting the moon.

Green scales,
Green eyes like windows to the soul.

Sing softely a sweet sweet song,
To a girl who is so pretty."

Timothy sang as he walked into the cafeteria and smiled at Amaya. He hoped he could make her feel better.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer rubbed comforting circles on Amaya's back, something her mother used to do that had always helped her. God her memories of her mother helped her through a lot of things...

Smiling at Emerwyn and nodding to Tim, she patted the sobbing girl on the back. "Emer, could you grab us some napkins please?"

Emerwyn
Emerwyn looked up when she heard a beautiful voice singing. The song was obviously directed at Amaya. Did he make those up himself?
She hadn't seen him before. He had already begun transforming, as well. He hade black and white fur... A badger... or a skunk?

When he finished, Emerwyn simply stared at first, not for his looks, but for his music. "That was lovely..."

She was sucked out of her trance when Greer asked her for napkins. "Oh! Sorry," She went and grabbed a few, handing them directly to Amaya. She was beginning to feel useless.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya sniffed, her crying turning into short, choked sobs. Who was singing? She looked away from Greer's midsection with one eye, spotting Timothy. Her hood had been pushed off when she grabbed onto Greer, showing a shaky smile. They were all so nice here... Maybe this wasn't as scary as she thought it was.

Slowly pulling herself away from Greer, she sat up. "Th-Thanks." She sniffed and wiped her eyes with the back of her sleeve. "I just g-got scared." Her words were still being blocked by small sobs, but she did seem to be getting better thanks to Timothy's song.

Timothy Matthews
"No problem Amaya." he grinned and thinking about Moulin Rouge which he had loved. "I only sing the truth."

Timothy went and got food and then came back and sat down.

"So how old are you Amaya?" he smiled charismatically, he wasn't really interested in anyone else besides Vasile. But he had the charm that if he wanted to, he could find someone to be interested back.

Greer Cassenwari
Pulling over her tray, Greer stayed by Amaya's side as she munched on some cucumber. "Believe me, if there's one thing we all understand here it's being afraid. No one is going to fault you for it."

Emerwyn
"Yes. We all know whose fault this is..." Emerwyn returned to her salad as well, her expression growing dark.

Amaya Vaughan
"Fi-Fifteen." Amaya smiled and looked at her meal which she barely touched, clawed hand reaching out and taking the banana to nibble on some more. She nodded to Greer, glad she was there and let her cry on her. In some ways she kind of reminded her of mom... Her hand reached up and wiped at her eyes once more, getting the last few tears that fell.

"It didn't hurt th-that much... but it really scared me. Especially my feet..." She mumbled, looking down at her rather deformed toes.

Timothy Matthews
Timothy looked down at Amaya's feet. "Oh those are cute... kind like little finger-toes. Kind of neat."

Timothy grinned. "I bet if I had those I could learn to play my guitar with my feet. Better than being a skunk. I could just stink everyone out."

Timothy shrugged, "Still, the claws are useful. No more need for my pick."

"I guess you can always find something decent." Timothy thought about how different this philosophy felt, especially comming from him.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer smiled at the girl's announcement of her age, suppressing a shudder. So, so young. She more than shared Emerwyn's anger.

"At least you get to eat bananas. My stomach went from vegitarian to carnivore in just one night!"

Giving Amaya's hand another pat, she downed a large chunk of deli meat and then stood. "I'm getting tea - anyone else want some?"

Emerwyn
So, she's only fifteen... A little younger than she'd even thought...

Emerwyn smiled at the young man's light-heartedness... She didn't catch his name.

Emerwyn almost vomitted seeing Greer down that meat. It's not her fault...
"I would love some, please... If there's any Green..."

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl blushed a little bit but it quickly faded, having never been one to really get like that. "Thank you..." She continued to nibble on the banana, quickly finishing it and laying the peel aside. She smiled up at Greer. "Yeah, though I was pretty much the opposite... Can I just have a water, please?" For some reason tea or anything else besides water didn't really appeal to her anymore.

Timothy Matthews
"I'll take some Tea... sure why not." Timothy smiled.

"I've pretty much only had a taste for meat too lately. Seem to really like the small crunchy pieces, like shrimp." Timothy shrugged and got a little hungry.

"What brings you three pretty ladies down so early?"

Greer Cassenwari
Greer nodded to each in turn, getting black tea with milk and sugar for herself, a cup of strong green tea for Emerwyn, black for Tim and a tall glass of water for Amaya. Loading her tray she carefully brought it back to the table and resumed her seat.

"I was up early hunting bugs. Phasmids are most active at dawn and dusk."

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose was emerging from his duplex, the thoughts of the rather disturbing reactoin of his upstairs neighbor to his own new changes still bothering him. An odd combination of sympathy and anxiety. However, Despite his anxiety, his stomach reminded him sharply that he had yet to have anything to eat today and that he should remedy that as promptly as possible.

He headed to the cafeteria and spotted several familiar faces - including the woman who had been in the cafeteria the day that he had thought that Colche and Ian had fled from him and to whom he had never been properly introduced. Aside from her, there was Timothy and Greer.... and Amaya - at least he assumed so - seeing her from the back with the hoodie pulled up.

He got his tray and piled it with cuts of beef and pork, and grabbed a roll to garnish - he hadn't completely lost his taste for other things, he just enjoyed the meat much more by comparison.

Coming over to the table he gave a friendly smile to the group of them. "Good morning, everyone... even if it's not technically morning anymore" He smiled sheepishly. As he spoke, he did a doubletake.

There was a reason Amaya's hood was drawn. There was a light pattern of scales running up the bridge of her nose and she looked distinctly uncomfortable. So the changes had hit her too...

He frowned sympathetically and slid his tray next to hers, taking that seat and putting a hand on her shoulder. "Amaya... oh dear, I'm sorry..." He looked at the pile of veggies on her plate, his mind absently wondering what sort of reptile she might have been infused with. "How are you doing...?" He gave her a quick big brotherly hug.

Emerwyn
"I like the feel of the morning air. I'm not used to living so close to real nature any more." She tried to ignore the flirtatious nature of the comment, and wished she'd brought her coat.

Emerwyn got up to help Greer with the drinks as she returned to the table, all of them perched precariuously on a tray. She started setting them in front of the respective people they went to. "Thanks, Greer." She smiled.

Looking up, she saw another young man enter. Emerwyn realized this was the man she had barely gotten a look at the other day. She also realized what she thought she saw on him were indeed effects of a transformation. She smiled.

Attention was averted back to Amaya. Emerwyn watched the comradeship everyone here already shared. She felt like an invader, and shrank back into her salad.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya shifted uncomoftrably, starting to get a little cold and tired. "I was just really hungry after... everything happened. I'm kinda glad I got up enough courage to come out though, I feel a lot better." She smiled and started to munch on her salad, thanking Greer and Emerwyn for the water.

Seeing Ambrose she flinched, not liking how the group was gradually coming bigger... but she would rather this then being alone back in her room. She forced a smile and returned her 'big brother's' hug. "It's okay, I feel better now... I'm still a little scared, but nothing major."

Timothy Matthews
The thought of bugs made Timothy salivate a bit for some reason. He didn't want to bring this to the attention of the rest of the group. Although if Greer was paying attention she might have noticed.

"Hey Ambrose." The skunk gave a wave and a bit of a tail wave to go with it.

He decided to lean back and listen quietly for a bit (going to step out and only message if I get any questions).

Greer Cassenwari
"Pup, there you are!" She smiled at Ambrose, reaching behind Amaya to give his shoulder a friendly squeeze. Greer? observant about other people? Hah. She completely missed Tim's reaction.

Turning to Emerwyn, she polished off her meat looking longingly at the other woman's salad. "How have you been since we spoke last?"

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose nodded to Amaya, focusing his attention on her - even before the plate of meat on the table. She was so young to be in a situation like this - and yet she had a full grasp of what was going on and still handling it very bravely. "It's okay to be scared." He said. "Trust me, we know what you're going through. And if you need anything, don't hesitate to ask."

He looked to Emerwyn and the rest of the group now, and nodded a greeting. "Hello there." He smiled to Emerwyn. "I... believe I saw you briefly here the other day.... you'll have to forgive me expedient retreat." He winced. "I don't believe we've actually formally met." At least, although she was new - she had obviously by now been given the run down of what was goign on, being she was surrounded by other people who had begun their changes. At least he hoped so and that she wasn't like Vasile.

He nodded to Timothy. "Hello there yourself." He grinned. Timothy at least seemed to be doing better as well.

Ambrose gave Greer a petulant look at the nickname. Great, calling him that in public now - what was next. He stuck his tongue out. "Hey, I'm older than several of the other Islanders here." He said ruefully. "And... well... I guess I'm doing alright. I can't complain in regards to some others' situations.... Especially my upstairs neighbor." He winced. He gave her a significant look. "Seriously Greer, though, I'm happy for you." He reached over and gave her hand a brief squeeze before finally appeasing his stomach and taking the first bite of food.

Emerwyn
Emerwyn was brought out of her miniature sulk being addressed by two different people.
"That's perfectly fine. I'm Emerwyn, by the way," she said, addressing the new-comer.
Emerwyn then turned to Greer. "I never have even come out of my room if it hadn't been for you. I'm glad you were the one to tell me. I took a walk last night. It really helped me to sort out my thoughts... But one thing still troubles me... how long did it take you to begin changing? I mean, I wouldn't want to be surprised."

Amaya Vaughan
She silently listened to the 'grown ups' chat, nibbling on her salad. Blinking, she then looked up at Ambrose. "What's wrong with your upstairs neighbor?"

Green orbs then looked over to Emerwyn. "Uhm... I've been here for... two weeks about, I think if that helps any."

Greer Cassenwari
Greer blinked at Emerwyn's comment, incredibly flattered. If not for her...? "Um, well, your welcome. I'm sure you would have done the same for me."

Chuckling at Ambrose's expression, she flipped a cucumber slice at him. "You're still a baby to me! Unlike our Amaya here, who acts old for her age." She patted the girl on the shoulder, winking at her to play along.

Ambrose Maurlias
"It's nice to meet you, Emerwyn" He reached out his hand to shake after finishing his current bite of meat and setting down his fork. "You know, there's someone on the island with the name of Emelyn... though I've only met her once..."

Ambrose nodded with Amaya. "Yes, I was here for about two weeks as well before I started to change...." Silently he thanked Greer for being the one to tell her. It was so hard to break it to people.

He winced. "Well.... Julian - the boy who lives up the stairs from me.... well, to put it nicely I really don't think he's handling all this very well at all. He ... well... he changed very recently as well. And... well... I heard him yelling so I went up to see what was wrong. Aside from the changes he.... whew.. I think he's kind of... gone crazy..." Ambrose said it as he cleared his throat. "I was worried about him to begin with... even before he changed. He has the creepiest smile that's always on his face, even when he's not happy, you know? Like a forced, scared grin."

Ambrose swatted the cuccumber slice back at her. He didn't show it, but the comments were starting to dig - pointedly expressing why he had made a bad decision in having affections for her to begin with, AND calling him childish. "Well..." he started, not quite sure how to respond to that and not prove her point even more. He was trying to be civil. "Amaya's a trooper." He smiled.

Emerwyn
She smiled at Greer. She would have.

Two weeks... I think the anticipation is now worse than not knowing at all...

As she shook Ambrose's hand, Emerwyn thought about the man who lived above him. It troubled her. How would she feel after she began changing?

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya yawned widely and stood up. "Well, I think I really need to go sleep. Stop by my duplex anytime, 'kay?" She smiled to everyone, obviously extending the invatitation since she didn't like being alone. "I see you guys later, bye!" Stumbling a little bit she bussed her tray and headed back to her duplex.

Spending the Day in the Cafeteria
(Part 1)

Amaya Vaughan
Friggin' air conditioning set for the godanm arctic. Amaya rubbed her arms under her hoodie and frowned, taking another bite out of her apple. Whenever she wasn't in the sun or in her sauna of a room she felt really cold... though she guessed that now her body was cold-blodded, so that would explain alot. She also found out she couldn't shiver when she was cold anymore, which sucked.

Yesterday's group breakfast had made her feel better about what was going on, though she was still a bit self-conscious... mostly about her feet, which ironicly enough she couldn't think of how to cover now that her socks and shoes didn't fit. Green gaze looked down at them and her stomach lurched, causing her to quickly look back at the table top.

Ian Campbell
Ian headed into the cafeteria his eyes darting around seeing if anyone else was there. He had left his duplex earlier self consciousand not wanting anyone to see him. Along the way to the cafeteria he had found himself looking at the grass and wanting to eat it. Luckily he had been able to resist the urge and had persuaded himself to wait until he could get a salad of sorts.

He spotted Amaya and saw her buried in a sweatshirt gazing at the tabletop. Detouring from his original trip to the counter to get food, Ian instead headed over to the lone girl. "Amaya?" he asked sofly, then he noticed her scales. "Oh gods, I'm sorry Amaya." His voice was low, soothing.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya blinked and looked over at Ian, smiling slightly and noting his changes. It made sense since he had probably gotten here around the same time she did. She kept her mouth shut though, not sure if he was comfortable talking about his own change. "Oh, hey Ian." A forced smile spread across her features. What was with having to force her own smiles lately? "It's alright, I'm okay." A clawed, cold hand patted his arm reassuringly as she looked up at him. "Are you doing okay?"

Ian Campbell
Ian watched as Amaya forced herself to smile, then patted his arm. "I'm doing alright. I've figured out that I'm vegetarian, and I have horns and fur. That narrows my creature possibilities to the ruminantid family, though only two or three of the ruminantid sub-orders have horns. The bovidae and the cervidae are the two I am familiar with and I believe I mentioned them to you?" Ian smiled reassuringly at Amaya. "It's alright, at least the creature I'm turning into is lots better that others." He nodded at her scales "Are you cool with reptiles?"

How was he being so calm through all of this...somehow this wasn't him, and yet it was. It was a him that he had lsot many years before.

Amaya Vaughan
She listened intently, taking a bite out of her apple. "Oh yeah, I remember you tell me about that... well that's cool then, your becoming something you like right?" A smile, this time it wasn't forced. "I guess I'm okay with 'em... it's not like they ever bugged me, but I reeeally hate being cold-blooded. I spent my whole life in Pennsylvania, not the warmest of states." Ian seemed to be taking the whole change really well, which was incredibly good. She didn't want to see him upset.

Ian Campbell
Ian grimaced "I'm sorry, I never liked being cold either. Are your sweatshirts warm enough?" HE tried to scratch a point on his arm that was itchy, but then realized that with his hardened fingernail covering his entire fingertips he couldn't. Giving a low noise in his throat he scraped his arm against the edge of the able trying to relieve it. Ah, that was better. "I'm going to go grab some greens," he said quickly heading to the counter and grabbing a salad and water. HE returned with what he normally referred to as "rabbit food" and began to munch on a slice of lettuce grinning good naturedly.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, I'm okay." Amaya watched him relive an itch and frowned, figuring he was probably okay to talk about it with how open he was acting. "Try rubbing the itch instead of scratching it if you can't, that helps sometimes." She said once he came back. "It nice to know I'm not the only herbivore here. Everyone else seems to only be able to stomach meat."

Ian Campbell
Ian choked on his lettuce, a revelation coming to him. "Predators," he said, wary fear entering his green eyes. "Ambrose is a predator, and there may be others....it's not safe." His eyes darted around as if watching for the aforementioned predator. "You don't think they'd try to eat me do you?"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya stared for a moment, mouth full of apple before stiffling a laugh and swallowing. "Nooo, no, no! They might be predators but I doubt they'd loose enough of their senses and eat you." To be honest, she didn't know if they would or not... but it was best not to feed Ian's fear. "And if someone did pounce ya, I'd be there to back you up." She gave a sharp-toothed grin and... probably wouldn't be much help in the worst case scenario.

Ian Campbell
Ian flushed a pale pink. Of course they wouldn't attack him. He started another piece of lettuce, eyes still darting around occassionally. "I'm glad there's someone on my side," he said between chewing. "I had never thought I'd ever be prey before, I suppose this island is a great way to discover how animals truly feel." He smiled wryly. "Being human one never thinks about or has to really worry about other animals eating you. Do you know what type of reptile you are?" he asked curious, but hoping he woouldn't distress Amaya with his question.

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl nodded in agreement with him, then looked up at the question. "Uhmm..." She frowned, looking down at her feet and curling them. "I dunno. I know it's not a snake or frog. It's gotta be some kind of lizard. One with claws." Green gaze shot back up to his, merely looking at her deformed feet caused her stomach to churn.

Ian Campbell
Ian followed her gaze down to her feet, and suppresed a shudder. Those long toes were rather creepy. "I didn't know any lizards had claws." he said. "I know mammals better than reptiles. He finished his salad and washed it down with water, taking care of his single plate. "And I thought lizards ate bugs, like frogs. Do they eat other stuff too?" he had asked this because Amaya had been eating an apple.

Amaya Vaughan
"Komodo dragons and iguana's have claws and they're in the lizard family... right?" She wasn't sure herself to be honest, then shuddered at the thought of craving bugs like Hargun. "I dunno, I thought they did too... but I've only been craving veggies and fruits."

Ian Campbell
Ian nodded thoughtfully. "Okay." he didn't know so he took Amaya's words at face value. "Fruits and greens are healthy. I should know. I have to eat them now." Ian had an odd expression on his face. "I always fancied myself a meat and potatoes guy. Guess there's no more meat for me." He was disappointed, but even thinking about eating meat made his stomach churn uneasily. "Not that I want to eat meat anymore," he added.

Amaya Vaughan
"Same here. My dad was always one of those big meat-eating guys so that's what I got used to. I rarely ate veggies and fruits... though now I have to." Amaya finished off her apple and turned the core around in her hands, examining it. "Doesn't bother me much, though."

Ian Campbell
Ian laughed, his first laugh since changing. "Guess this island changes us all. Icould get used to eating salads, but on the way here," his voice dropped to whisper and Ian looked horrified. "Coming here, I wanted to eat the grass outside the duplex."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya's eyes widdened, startled. She frowned and looked down, trying to think of some way to feel better. "Well... least your not craving bugs." Another forced smile appeared, this time for Ian's sake. "Hargun has been craving bugs ever since she changed."

Ian Campbell
Ian grinned remember how he had dared Hargun to eat the bug. "That explains why she ate the bug so easily in Truth or Dare." said Ian not remembering if Amaya was there at that point or not. "Grass is probably healthy. But I have always learned in survival manuals that eating bugs is a great way to survive, I don't think grass qualifies." Ian's stomach rumbled again. "Let me go get some more lettuce." He went over, but instead of grabbing lettuce, he grabbed three apples. Arriving back at the table he started chewing on one, eating it with no regards to the core and seeds.

Colche
Her days had become rather quiet since the discovery of her new found exploration skills, of course, going between the cafeteria and her duplex, or ehr duplex and the beach was easy enough, she knew the paths well. She smiles softly to herself though ehr eyes remained dark and dreary, she was quite bored, noone had come to visit her for ever, or thats how it felt any way. She slipped silently in to the cafeteria heading straight for the dinner lady whom held out a tray for her. She grinned and giggled, the dinner lady was magic, she always made somethign really nice for her instead of ehr going down the buffet, today it was scampy and chips, peas and a huge slice of doyuble chocolate gataux, that was the best bit but she would save it til last. Smiling to herself she made ehr way to the nearest table and started eating with her fingers, she still hadn't quite got the hang of a knife and fork and why would she? noone had the thought to teach her that little trick yet.

Julian Vorpalle
Uneasy, Julian ambled into the cafeteria, grey tail flicking around behind him. He wasn't sure if coming out into public was the best of ideas...but what COULD he do? Locking himself away would only make things worse.

He took a plate from the buffet, peering down the line. The fact was, he was quite hungry...he had been all but starving himself since the night he changed, only eating a few bites of ham or beef here and there.

He loaded his plate with a few different hot pieces of meat - something he DIDN'T have in his room, he realized - and with a nervous little twitch of a smile, looked around for a seat.

It was about then he spotted Colche.

"...Uh...hello, Colche...." His smile broadened as he ambled up...scared to death of how people would react to seeing how he looked.

"Do you mind if I sit here?"

'Oh...well, she's pretty. And such LOVELY table manners.'

Julian winced.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya giggled and pushed herself up, wobbling a little bit on her toes before throwing out the apple core and grabbing a bottle of water. "Yeah, even though it's kinda weird it probably wouldn't hurt you to eat grass if you really couldn't resist it." As she sat down someone else entered, green orbs watching the girl that seemed a little older then her and had already started changing, along with another man. She looked at Ian, silently asking if he knew either of them. Amaya was still too uneasy about her new apperance to approach anyone she didn't know on her own...

Ian Campbell
Ian looked behind him, hearing people enter. For a brief moment he didn't recognize them, then it hit him. "The man's name is Julian," he said. "The girl I've seen but haven't met. Both of those meetings occurred before they changed. We should go say hi." Ian didn't hold out his hand to Amaya to help her up, he was still a bit self conscious about his weird fingernails. Meandering over to them leisurely, starting to eat his second apple, Ian stopped when he was a few feet away. "Hello Julian." he started unsure of what to say to the girl.

Colche
Colche paused for a moment , chewing and swallowing the peice of breaded scampi she had in her mouth. She looks at Julian her big deep blue eyes contemplating him for a moment, her mind flickerd through names and faces and no two came to the one before her, then it hit her, it was julian "Julian!" she smiles softly tilting her head a little "fuzzy man" she giggles her attention fully on him at least for a few moments until ian approached, okay now this was a face she definately didn't know and there was a woman with him too. She bited her tongue, a little nervous to be around so many people, but she held her ground hoping it would be okay, maybe julian would protect her if it wasn't? he'd been nice before.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian's smile widened a bit more, and his voice turned a tiny bit less meek. She didn't seem to be so worried...then again, now that he really looked at her...she was going feline, too.

"...Yes, Colche, I'm fuzzy now, too." A tiny laugh...but he jumped as he heard Ian speak.

Slowly he turned around, his now-fanged grin not touching his nervous gaze.

"Ah - Ian! Er...hello...." His voice was small again...he turned his green glance to the other girl, tail flicking a little. She was young, yet...and he did like kids. But still...he couldn't get rid of the huge grin.

"...And...er...hi, there...."

He cringed as the voices began to discuss the people in jumbled-together, hissing tones in his ears...but tried not to say anything about them. He didn't...want to scare anyone.

Amaya Vaughan
She frowned, but nodded and stood anyway. Following behind Ian, she peeked out slowly and gave a wave to the girl and Julian. "Hiya." Her voice was still a little quite, the self-consciousness not leaving her mind no matter how much she told herself that no one care what she looked like. They both looked a little nervous and that nervous grin... where had she heard of that before...? Nevertheless, she gave both an actual smile, trying her best to push her nagging thoughts of freakishness into the back of her mind.

Hargun Aikason
Hargun left her duplex yet again without her sketchbook. She headed down to the cafeteria, wearing her now favorite possession (next to mr sketchbook), the orange beanie Amaya had given her. The entire way she couldnt help but squint, and every once in a while shed scratch furiously at her face, neck, and or backside.

As soon as she reached the main eating facility, she paused and tried to peek in to see who all was there before actually going in.

Oh.. good.. there's Ian and Amaya... and.. erm.. some other transformed islanders? she thought, and slowly stalked in.

"Heya Amaya! Hey Ian!" she waved her eerie, lengthy arm in the air, and walked over to pile a plate with food.

Ian Campbell
"Hi!" Ian waved to Hargun as she entered before turning back to Julian. "They got you too huh?" he said sympathetically, then looked at the girl. "I'm Ian." he said. "What's your name? We saw each other in the cafeteria a couple weeks ago...you were with Emerwyn." Ian was glad none of them had even seemed to care about the horns that were perched on his head, but his arm itched again. Sighing, he rubbd his arm against the edge of the table temporarily relieving the urge to scratch.

Colche
Colche watched all the people enter, she was alittle confused by the hubub of noise that they were making but ian asked for her name, okay that was a question she could answer "Colche" she smiles, her voice a quiet whisper of a word. Her eyes rested upon his antlers for a moment and she looked thoughtful "ian fuzzy" She stated this as if it were nothing unusual, though her eyes rested on the antlers and she had the urge to poke them and find out what they were, but she was far too nervous for that and there were so many people around now, she felt lost suddenly, she had never been around so many people at once it was rather frightening. her big blue eyes drifted from one face to another resting calmly on Amaya. She smiled lightly, she was pretty glad there was another female here, she would have felt very uncomfortable with two men, even now she fidgeted slightly but stayed calm and as collected as she could at least, if she felt too afraid she could run, ah running her new past time, how she loved to run since she had discoverd she could.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian's own stomach gave a bit of a lurch at the crowd as well - it suddenly seemed so loud in here. Between the voices in his head, and the real voices....

His grin went even wider, and he fidgeted with his fork and knife, claws clicking the metal. He gave a timid look to Amaya, unsure of what to say....

Then heard someone ELSE in the cafeteria. As he looked over at Hargun, the strongest voice gave an unsettling chuckle that made him shudder.

His eyes darted back to Ian. "...Ah...yes...they did...." His turned a bit red, lightly brushing the fur on his right side with two claws. He was quiet as he watched Colche speak with Ian, shaking a tiny bit from all the hubbub.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya turned to look at Hargun, smiling at the sight of the bright orange beanie still on her head. "Hey Hargun." She then turned her attention to the strange girl, who didn't seem to have a very strong grasp on the english language. Was she foreign? ... No, she didn't have an accent. How strange. The young girl could even imagine what she might've gone through and shivered, though not from the cold. "Hi Colche. Hi Julian. My names Amaya." A genuine smiled spread across her features, now feeling a little bit better about herself.

Hargun Aikason
Hargun smiled, and came over, sitting at the table everyone was at with her pile of shrimp and a rather odd looking, amber-colored lollipop on the side.

She nodded to Ian and Colche instead of waving her freakish fingers, and started eating.

She gave a weak look and out of the blue started laughing. "Guys.. I cant believe it, but Im trying these candy coated roaches!" she said, pointing to the sucker. "Oh.. and these chocolate covered ants as well.."

As soon as she looked up from her plate, she stared Amaya in the face and immediately started choking. "OH MY GOD AMAYA." she said, and leaned over the table to look her in the face wildly just as she did Greer. "No... no way man.. no.."

She sat back and swallowed what little food was left in her mouth. "Dude.. what.. what in the WORLD are you turning into??!" she gasped then turned to Ian, just noticing his features too. "AND YOU?!"

Ian Campbell
Ian smiled at Colche, charmed by her apparent innocence. "Yes I'm fuzzy. Do you want to pet?" Ian proferred his arm giving her the opportunity to pet it before turning to Hargun. "Yeah, I've changed to....I think I'm becoming some sort of cervid or bovid. Both have hooves, and horns of sorts." He grimaced, bringing his hand to a horn as if making sure he hadn't imagined it. "Bugs huh?" he grinned. "I wouldn't ahve dared you to eat a bug that night if I'd known you liked them so much." He was teasing her, trying to make everyone in a better mood. He wanted the people to stop moping so much.

Colche
"Pet" colche replied touching his furry arm a soft whisper of a puurr leaving her chest as she rolled her slender fingers along the fuzzy fur. She smiles "pretty" she looks up at Ian with an innocent smile before turning her gaze ona Amaya "am..I..yuh" she spelt out the name and was about to say something else, maybe, when hargun shouted and she jumped out of her skin toppling backwards off of the picknic bench and looking around with wide frightend eyes. She takes a few deep breaths, shuffling backwards a few inches. Her eyes drifted back to the table, she hadn't finished eating yet, "no work, no work" she mumbled, reassuring herself, trying to calm herself she hadn't expected anyone to be so, so very loud it had frightend her quite a bit.

Julian Vorpalle
"...Pleased to meet you, Amaya...." He bobbed his head a bit in greeting....

And nearly had a heart attack as Hargun sat down and started yelling. The fur on his tail puffed out, and he could feel the same on his chest under his shirt - he winced visibly, sliding away a bit on the bench.

But what scared him most was what the loudest voice was repeating....

'Do cats eat bats? Do cats eat bats? Do bats eat cats?'

He went so far as to turn away, visibly cringing and perhaps looking a little sick. But then he heard Colche fall, looking towards her with a soft (but still very frightened) look in his eyes. His grin looked very strained by now, and he leaned down, holding out a hand for her.

"...It's...okay, Colche. Sh-she was just s-s-surprised." His tone was soft and nervous.

Amaya Vaughan
Green eyes glared at Hargun, annoyed that her false confidence had been shattered so easily.

Wreaking ball, thy name is Hargun.

Though she did smile regardless, holding up her water bottle and squirting the red-head with it to get her to lower her voice. "Some kinda lizard and... god, that's disgusting." She stared at the chocolate covered ants and the candy coated roaches.

Amaya's eyes widdened at how frightened Colche had gotten and she went over to her, kneeling down and rubbing her shoulder, holding the other gently with her clawed hand. "Hey, hey. It's alright, nothing's going to happen, okay? Hargun just got... excited." No work? My god... Now she had a feeling what the poor girl went through. She frowned and pulled Colche into a soft hug, rubbing her back. "It's okay, no work. Nothing's wrong." She glanced over at Ian and Julian, making a motion to them. "See? They're okay, everything is alright."

Ian Campbell
Ian smiled as Colche pet his arm and called him pretty. Crouching down beside the scared girl. "It's okay," he said trying to puzzle out her 'no work' comment. "Hargun won't hurt you." He soothingly patted the girls head. "There is no work here. You don't need to worry." He looked at her worry in his gaze. "Are you alright now?"

Colche
Colche slowly, very slowly calmed, she looked at Julians hand and was about to take it when Amaya came over, her voice was soothing and she wasn't at all frightend by her looks a tiny puurr left her as she was hugged and the gentle pet from Ian made her heart stop racing in her chest. She smiled lightly, the smile didn't touch ehr eyes though she visably caled and stopped shaking. She licks her lips in a nervous manner taking Julians hand she stands a little wobbly on ehr legs, it was a bit of a shock being scared like that. She looked at hargun then,. biting her bottom lip she edged around the other side of the table and pulled her tray back towards herself, she wasn't going to leave it again and to proove this she bolts what is left on her plate as swiftly as she can watching everyone with nervous eyes, stareing at everyone as if it were her last meal, seh soon finishes and though she now felt sick she was full and her face was coverd in chocolate. She sat stil her eyes twitching between the occupants of the cafeteria, it was okay, no work, theer was no work, cant be frightend any more, have to be brave like the starfish.

Julian Vorpalle
Pointing Julian out as an example of someone 'all right' was a questionable choice - he was shaky-looking, and his tail's fur hadn't flattened again yet.

Still...the actions to calm the girl were rather nice to see. People were supportive here...maybe he didn't have to hide QUITE so much....

As Colche took his hand, he gave her a timid look...but he avoided staring as he scarfed down her meal. Instead, he took up his own fork and knife, eating slowly and politely, nervous gaze fixed on his plate....

...Until he noticed, at a glance, the chocolate all over her face.

Feeling as if he should be discrete, he picked up his own napkin after a bite, dabbing at his lips while looking at Colche. He then cleared his throat a bit, waiting before he would continue eating. Maybe she would mimic?

Amaya Vaughan
Most of her attention was on Colche now, patting her shoulder once she finished eating. She looked at Julian and smiled at his attempt to get the raven-haired girl to mimick him. Looking around, she fetched an unused napkin from the table she was previously sitting at before handing it to Colche. Hopefully she would get what they were implying and wipe her face on her own accord. She'd have to take baby steps.

Ian Campbell
Ian sat down at the table and quickly stood up, wincing. Carefully moving his tail tip out of the way, he sat again and started eating his third apple. He finished it in a few large bites leaving nothing behind but juices on his fingers which he licked off before realizing that he was setting a horrible example for Colche. Grabbing a napkin, he smirked and wiped his fingerscarefully before depositing the used napkin in a waste receptical. "Julian," he said. "Do you know what you are becoming?" He didn't ask Colche that because she more than likely did not know, and Ian would eventually find out someday.

Colche
Colche watched Julian and took the napki, mimiking she could do, she was pretty good at it acctually. She smiles weakly and wiped her face in a childish manner releaving her face of most of the chocolate though there were a few smudges left over. She looks at Amaya licking her lips softly she blinks a few times yawning "sleep" she whispers, she found herself relying on somone again, she hadn't done that for days but the little shock of somone shouting so close to her sensitive ears had snapped ehr back in to dependance mode, at least for today any ways. She had eaten and like any big cat after food it was time to sleep the day away in the shade.

She blinks a long blink and shuffleds off the bench giving a long, wide yawn she rubs her eyes before toddling off out of the cafeteria back to her duplex and her comfy bed. She glances back once and smiles weakly at the people milling around the table still, her first time in a large group hadn't been too bad, everyone was very nice, even if she had gotten very frightend at the slightest thing. She would be calmer next time, maybe. She yawns again finally leaving the cafeteria and making her way home.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian gave a little wave as Colche left, then turned back as Ian spoke. He attempted to loosen up a bit, but the grin was fixed on his face - and the Cheshire Cat was still mumbling in the back of his head.

"...A cat of...some kind...I think...." He took a bite of chicken, tail flicking behind him.

'A CHESHIRE Cat, Julian,' the voice reminded him tartly.

He cringed.

Amaya Vaughan
She waved a gloved hand to Colche as she wandered out of the cafeteria, probably heading back to her duplex to sleep. "Bye-bye Colche!" After waving goodbye, she turned back to the others and took a seat. "Well that's not too bad, it could be a lot worse." She'd be a cat any day over a lizard in her book.

Hargun Aikason
((EEEHEEE HEEE. : D Bare butt))

Hargun looked at Colche rather bewildered... and to Julian too. "... I said something wrong..?" she asked as she watched Colche have some sort of spasm then leave.

She was completely unaware of Colche behavior, having never met her before, but she waved anyways. "Uhm.. Im sorry! Bye?" she said, trying not to sound too loud then turned back to Amaya.

"Sorry.. I didnt mean to make her.. and sorry I.. freaked.. out.." she said and scratched at her now rather red with embarassment face.

"Somebody help me out here though.. whyd.. whyd I scare her off?" she asked, and hung her head down while poking at her food with a non needed fork.

Ian Campbell
Ian shrugged. "I've scared Colche off once before, though I don't think she remebers that. I'd say she scares easily." Ian stood up. "Sorry to eat and run, but I have to get going now. I have an urge to just be alone for a bit. Sorry again." Ian waved and deprated from the cafeteria heading back to his duplex.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian gave a little wave to Ian as he left, looking a bit more relaxed. Sure, he was left with two teenage girls...but he didn't mind quite so much. He liked kids, for one, and there was a little less company now. Less of a crowd...which was good, as Julian was nervous in crowds.

"...I guess not...but it didn't make it any more easy to handle. I mean...I...I don't...handle pain very well. I was probably heard screaming on the other side of the world." A feeble laugh.

He swallowed a bite, grinning his wide, eerie grin at Hargun. He was trying rather hard to ignore the Cheshire Cat's hisses about cats eating bats - it made his stomach turn, and he didn't want to think about it.

"...She was j-just startled. It wasn't what y-you said...."

Amaya Vaughan
"I think she's just really... jumpy. Not used to crowds are loud noises." Amaya gave a light shrug to her friends question, not entirly sure herself.

"See ya, Ian. Take care." She gave a smile and a wave as Ian headed off, glad he was taking everything so well.

A frown spread across her features as the thought of hearing someone scream in agony. Julian's tail was pretty long, which was probably what hurt the most. "I'm sorry..."

Hargun Aikason
((Sorry it took me.. mom took over the comp))

Hargun sighed rather relievingly.

"At least Im not the only one whose scared her.. otherwise I could never forgive myself." she said and looked up from her food towards Julian.

She could somehow feel him staring through her very body then raised an eyebrow. "Hiya.. uuhm... whats yer name?" she asked, stuffing a chocolate ant in her mouth.

Julian Vorpalle
He glanced down for a moment, his gaze turning sad despite the huge, toothy grin.

"...It's okay. It would have been a lot worse if Ambrose hadn't come and found me just after I changed...."

He turned his attention to Hargun again, blinking at her a bit. "...Oh...I'm s-sorry, I completely forgot...my name is Julian."

Forgetting himself completely, he offered a clawed hand to shake.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya's eyes widdned. Ambrose...? Oh snap. This was the crazy guy he was talking about. She bit her bottom lip, but didn't say anything. So far Julian didn't seem insane or crazy at all... save for that funky grin. She wouldn't judge unless he started cackling and running after them with a chainsaw or something.

Shaking her head, she forced herself out of her daze. "That's good." Another slightly forced smile.

Hargun Aikason
Hargun looked rather nervous about shaking Julian's hand.. just the fear of freaking him out with her strange fingers might gross him out. But she shook it off and shook it firmly, smiling slightly.

"Nice to meet you, Julian. Im Hargun." she said.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian shook the hand with no apprehension - it wasn't THAT bad...and it wasn't like it was gross, or anything. Just a bit unusual.

"...Pleased to meet you, I'm certain."

Julian had no idea what Amaya was thinking, of course...but he was really a very unlucky man with rather bad timing. Just then, the Cheshire Cat started humming in his ears....

How'd'ya do and shake hands...just like the Tweedles...isn't it, Julian? How'd'ta do and shake hands, shake hands, shake hands...wasn't that the tune from the Disney version?

Without thinking, he answered the Cat aloud.

"Please stop that - I never liked that song..."

He realized what he did and stopped short, clapping his hand over his mouth. OHCRAP. "Uh...I...I mean...."

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl's eyes widdned at Julian, but she quickly tried to correct herself and settled for raising a brow. "What song?"

Hargun Aikason
Hargun stared at Julian.

"Uhm... yea.. what song now?" she said and scooted her seat back a little bit.

Julian Vorpalle
Uh-oh. They were starting to look frightened...and he was a HORRIBLE liar, but....

"Oh...ah...it's...stuck...in my head. A...a song...stuck in my head. Ehe. Heh."

His grin twitched.

'...My god, man...you have no spine....'

Amaya Vaughan
Allllrighty then. Ace Ventura's voice was a two second escape, but now what? The same look was plastered on her face and she coughed into her hand, willing to let him lie. "Ah."

Hargun Aikason
Still rather wierded out, Hargun tried to smile and turned as quickly as she could back to her food.

After a few bites she looked up and yawned, so long it made her eyes water.

"Getting tired guys.. In a bit Ill head back up to my duplex. All I really wanted to come out here for was something to eat. Of course, and hopefully socialize." she said smiling and continued to eat.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian's expression darkened a bit...he realized he wasn't convincing.

"...Sorry."

He looked over to Hargun, nodding a little. "...All right. I guess becoming nocturnal is...tough. I've had a little trouble, but I stay up late, myself, anyway..."

With a little sigh, he looked back down at his plate, taking the last bite. He was so embarrassed...and he KNEW they must realize there was something wrong with him.

Amaya Vaughan
"Sure, Hargun." Amaya smiled and nodded, wondering if she was forcing herself to be more diurnal then nocturnal, despite what the bat DNA in her system was telling her to do.

"It's okay Julian." She smiled to him, not wanting to make him feel any more awkward then he did. The poor guy had been through enough.

Hargun Aikason
"Im sorry man. Yeah, its the nocturnal stuff.. either that or the lights just making me want to go back to my dark room and just... sleep?" Hargun started laughing.

"God I sound so retarded. Its gotta be just being tired... maybe my brain cells will come back after a nap." she said, then wiped her mouth with a napkin and went to clean off her tray.

"Ill see yall some other time. Nice meeting yah, Julian. Bye Amaya!" she said waving, and headed back to her duplex rather quickly, taking the note on her door inside to read it.

((Bad wrap, but I need o get some hw done xDD))

Julian Vorpalle
He gave a halfhearted, nervous laugh, his head lowering a little. "...Uh...thanks."

"Yeah, nice meeting you...." Timidly, he waved, watching the girl leave....

Just him and Amaya now.

Sighing, he brought his fingers up to his lips, licking them...then started to run them over the fur on his face. He didn't appear to be conscious of this action - still staring down.

Spending the Day in the Cafeteria
(Part 2)

Amaya Vaughan
"See ya Hargun!" Amaya waved, not liking being left with someone insane but... he hadn't come after her with a chainsaw yet, so all was well.

Start up a conversation.

About what?

... He's licking himself.

STOP STARING.

Shaking her head she drank some of the water from her neglected water bottle and finally broke the silence. "So how'd you get raked into all this, Julian?"

Julian Vorpalle
"Er."

He dropped his hand, realizing what he was doing with some embarrassment, and wiped it on his jeans.

"...Well...I'm a writer. Children's books, mostly. They told me I could have a free place to stay, with free food...in return for writing an article...." A little sigh.

"They tricked me, and badly. But...at least I DO have some food...more than I had before I came here...and I don't have to go hungry."

His eyes saddened, though the grin stayed fixed. It was sickening, how easily they'd tricked him...and now....

'...You feel betrayed, don't you?'

He winced, hands jerking up towards his head...but he stopped himself before covering his ears, folding them on the table instead.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya perked up, interested now moreso in his books then his... split-personalities. "Really? Did you bring any of your books with you or write any since you got here?" He seemed pretty sad about how he had been tricked, so she switched over to something he might be comfortable talking about.

Julian Vorpalle
He blinked...and his smile turned more genuine.

See, this is why he liked kids. They could often be SO much kinder than adults.

"...I haven't brought any...but I've been working on some stories." He brushed a lock of dark hair from his eyes before he continued.

"They...aren't...very good, though."

Amaya Vaughan
"Hey, you dunno that." Amaya stuck her tounge out at him. "I'd like to read them if you'd let me." She kicked her feet back and forth, something she haden't been comfortable enough with ever since she changed.

Julian Vorpalle
He blinked a few times, then laughed softly.

"...All right. When I finish one, you'll be the first to read it."

He leaned on one elbow, tail flicking behind him. He thought for a moment, then decided...maybe...he could try and make light of all this. Of course...his subconscious was doing weird things to his reasoning.

"...You know, this isn't all bad. I mean...I kind of like having claws."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya smiled slightly, sipping the water bottle even though it was mostly empty. "They're good for scratching an itch and stuff, but they tear clothes if your not careful." She looked at her own claws, the yellow colour and un-natural lenght of her fingers making her cringe and place her hand back in her lap. The thought of Julian being insane was pretty much gone now, seeing him as a normal person like everyone else and someone to talk to.

Julian Vorpalle
"I suppose I've been very careful, then." A little laugh. "...Could have done without the tail, though, I think. And I still scare myself when I take my shirt off to bathe."

He blushed a little...he wasn't that great at small talk, and maybe that was too much info.

Amaya Vaughan
Even if it was too much information, she didn't seem to notice. "Yeah... I still can't look at my feet for very long without having my stomach turn." She leaned on the table, swirling the last bit of water around in her bottle and watching the light reflect off of it.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian glanced down to see what she was talking about...then back up to her face, grin broadening.

"They aren't that bad. At least they aren't all furry, or anything...." It was a good natured jest.

'...She is the chimney sweep.'

Julian paused in confusion, looking as if he would say something...then stopped himself.

Amaya Vaughan
"True, but their scaly." She stuck her tounge out, pretending she thought her own scales were icky... though she didn't REALLY mind them. Amaya caught him wanting to say something and blinked, waiting to see if he wanted to say it or not.

Julian Vorpalle
"Ah...."

He thought better of it, laughing nervously. "The scales aren't that bad. Fur is much itchier, I bet...."

'Why won't you acknowledge me, Julian?'

He paled. Uh-oh. It...probably wasn't a good idea to anger the Cat. But...then...Amaya might be frightened....

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, probably." Amaya wasn't that much into the conversation anymore, green eyes blinking at Julian. "... You okay?"

Julian Vorpalle
He winced.

"...Fine...just a headache...."

'Julian...don't LIE...she will find out anyhow, one way or another...either from you...or from me....'

All color drained from his face.

"...I know," he hissed under his breath, staring at the table. "...Stop it...."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya kept silent and looked down at her water bottle, considering telling him that she knew because Ambrose blabbed or... no. It might make him hate Ambrose and she didn't want that. For the time being she kept silent, waiting for him to tell her or change the subject, whichever he wanted.

Julian Vorpalle
He hunched a bit in his seat, putting his hands over his ears.

"...Please, stop it...."

'All right then - if you won't tell her, I will do it myself. As simple as that.'

His eyes widened. "No...please, don't...please...."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya remained silent, sucking on the top of the water bottle as she watched the top of the table like it was the most interesting thing in the world. Poor Julian... she wanted to help, but knew their was nothing she could do.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian made a funny choking sound, covering his face with both hands....

Then all at once, he dropped his hands away, the grin on his face suddenly accompanied by a sly, purring voice.

"...I apologize for that. You really didn't need to see such a fuss...."

Amaya Vaughan
The bottle Amaya was sucking on caved in at her sudden, quick intake of the air inside. She coughed and set the bottle down, fidgeting with it a little bit. "So uh... your Julian's other half?" Green eyes looked up timidly. God, that grin was creepy.

Julian Vorpalle
He flicked his tail, green eyes sparkling.

"...Of sorts, yes...please, don't be afraid, my dear chimney sweep." He bowed his head in a tiny elegant way...or a creepy way. Either one.

"...The Cheshire Cat, at your humble service."

Amaya Vaughan
"Chimney sweep...?" Amaya blinked and raised a brow, not really scared just... weirded out. She knew the cheshire cat was from Alice In Wonderland, but she had never read the book or even seen the Disney movie. Why would Julian develop a split-personality that was the cheshire cat, though? Was it because he was turning into a cat? "Where's Julian?" She knew it wasn't good to feed his split-personality... but what else could she do? Her voice was worried, wondering if 'Julian' was blacked out somewhere in the back of his mind or aware of what was going on at all.

Julian Vorpalle
He straightened up again, hair flopping awkwardly about his face.

"Yes...the chimney sweep, dear. You are the chimney sweep...."

He blinked in response to her question, licking his claws once before speaking.

"Oh, the poor man is resting. Not to worry...he will be just fine. He's not been feeling well, you see...a bit on edge...."

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, I noticed." She frowned and would have added 'though that seemed to mostly be your fault', but didn't for fear of what this 'Cheshire Cat' might do. Julian wasn't that bad of a guy. Shy and nervous, but not mean or anything. It was all his other personalities that worried her, one being this one and who knew how many more he might've had.

"So uh... who's the chimney sweep exactly?" Amaya looked at him, kind of hopeing someone would stumble in so she would have someone else to share the awkwardness with.

Julian Vorpalle
Cheshire thought for a long moment...before pulling the trusty book from his waistband, opening it to the passage about Bill the lizard.

"...Here."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya blinked and took the book, reading the passage about Bill the Lizard. Lizard? Ugh. She didn't like Cheshire and wanted Julian back, being reminded of what she was becoming rather annoying. Letting out a sigh, she handed it back. "So uh... does Julian have any... others living... with him?" She couldn't really think of how to word it besides saying 'does he have any other voices in his head'.

Julian Vorpalle
"Of course," he purred, tucking the book away again.

"But none of them are strong enough to come out, you see. I keep them away."

Emerwyn
Emewyn had to go to the cafeteria. She couldn't deny that she was hungry any longer. She'd gone almost the entire day without eating and was getting afraid that that was making her more sick than eating anything would.
She walked in, pale-faced, hungry, and tired, and looked around before grabbing her usual salad. She saw Amaya talking with a man she hadn't yet met. Amaya looked more than a little uncomfortable.
Emerwyn took her salad over to them and spoke a quiet greeting before sitting down. "I'm not intruding, am I?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Really?" Amaya winced, wondering how many he had. Poor guy was probably constantly begin nagged by them. No wonder he was so nervous and shy all the time, afraid everyone would think he was insane... which he was, but it wasn't his fault.

Green gaze then turned to Emerwyn and she smiled, shaking her head. "Hiya Emerwyn and no, your not interupting anything. This is... uh... The Cheshire Cat." She'd have to explain later, not really knowing if declaring Julian mad would set his other self off or not.

Julian Vorpalle
He grinned over to the newcomer, giving her the usual sly grin.

"...Pleased to meet you, my dear." A little bow of the head - his tail flicked a bit, and he tapped his claws on the table.

Emerwyn
Emerwyn immeadiately became as uncomfortable as Amaya looked. The Cheshire Cat??
However, she had already gone over there; she couldn't just walk (or run) away.
She sat down next to Amaya. "Um, it's a pleasure to meet you, too, I'm sure."
Emerwyn tried to smile, but this man was a little disturbing. She had to be open, though. This was a strange place she found herself in.
"The Cheshire Cat? That's from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, isn't it?"
Emerwyn was well-versed in fantasy stories, for the older and younger groups. And this one fit into both catagories.

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl sighed inwardly, wanting desperatly to just shake Julian and yell for him to come back out. He was so much easier to talk to, wasn't nearly as creepy, and was an actual person... not some fictional character from a book. She looked down at her hands in her lap, a sad look on her face for the fact she didn't know what to do or how to get Julian back.

Amaya leaned back in her chair and put her gloved hand over her mouth, looking deep in thought as she stared at the table. She wasn't trying to be rude and leave Emerwyn with the task of dealing with Julian's alter-ego, she was trying to think of a way to get them both out of this mess and hopefully get to know the REAL Julian.

Julian Vorpalle
Cheshire watched them, nodding a little bit in response to Emerwyn.

"...The one and only, my dear."

But as he sat, he gave a wide yawn, the grin looking very strained and weak afterward.

Emerwyn
Emerwyn smiled weakly. This man was very into his literature... She wondered what his real name was.
"You seem tired. Maybe you should get some rest."
Even before concern, she was a little... for lack of a better term, creeped out, by him, and he'd barely said anything. It was simply the aura about him... and that disturbing grin that was now, thankfully, ebbing away.
She knew she'd feel more comfortable if he left.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded in agreement to Emerwyn, keeping her mouth shut to keep herself from saying anything stupid. For some reason Cheshire made her rather ansty and on edge... not to mention a bit angry. She didn't quite know why either besides the whole 'Bill the Lizard' thing. Later she'd need to think all of this out. Wait... what if the animal DNA was messing with her personality? Ah crap.

Julian Vorpalle
"Perhaps you are right...but I don't think I'll be able to get back myself...."

He yawned again and flicked his tail, head drooping forward.

"...Good evening, ladies."

His eyes fluttered shut, and he slumped against the table.

Lauren Granger
With the thud of Julian's... ur Chesire's head on the table Lauren walked into the cafeteria because she was starving, as usual.

She spotted Amaya and waved from across the room as she piled the food onto her tray. Meat... she needed meat and lots of it. She didn't take it easy on the desert either as her tray was filled to capacity with a variety of things.

She wondered how Amaya was reacting to the change... well it was time to go see! Lauren started heading over happily towards the groups table, passed out kitty boy and all.

Emerwyn
Emerwyn looked concernedly at the young man passed out on the table. Is he ill?

"Um... do you think we should help him to his duplex? He looks worse than I do." Emerwyn's pale face caused a harse contrast to the dark circles under her eyes.
Somehow her concern outweighed her fear of this man.

She then looked up to see a newcomer walking over to the table, her tray filled with food. Whatever she's becoming, it must have a healthy appetite.

Amaya Vaughan
Thank god! The young girl heeved out a sigh of relife, hopeing that Julian was the one who would resume control once he 'woke back up'. After he left she'd have the try and explain off of this to poor Emerwyn. She reached over, shaking his shoulder slightly. "Julian? Y'with me?"

Amaya tried her best to ignore Thorn for the time being. At least until she knew Julian was okay and his body was being controled by one of his personalities.

She didn't look at Emerwyn as she clued her in, might as well get what information she could to her while Julian was zonked out. "No, I think he's okay... just switching personalities. I'll fill ya in later." Green orbs glanced over to the woman, obviously not wanting to talk about it much infront of the poor man.

Julian Vorpalle
Julian gave a soft moan as he woke, blinking sleepily and lifting his head. The smile completely left his face as he looked around, and at the people...staring...at...him....

"...Oh, no. I...I didn't...he...HE couldn't have...!"

He swallowed hard, pulling out of his seat and staggering backwards a couple steps. It was one thing in his DUPLEX to have an episode...to change...but in PUBLIC!?

"...I...I should...be...going...."

Whimpering a bit, he wobbled on his feet. Tears were welling up in his green eyes, dribbling down his cheeks and ending in his fur. He choked on his words, his voice very small.

"...I'm sorry...I...it...was...nice meeting you...."

Covering his face with both hands, he ran for the door....

...And missed it by about a foot, smacking into the wall and bowling over. The hands that had been against his face were jammed into it, his claws cutting him on the forehead and cheekbones. He cried out, stumbled back to his feet, and scrambled out of the cafeteria and back towards his duplex.

Lauren Granger
Lauren watched as the passed out kitty boy, Julian... wasn't it? ran away all of a sudden after hitting his head fairly well on the table. Even she cringed at him falling into the wall and getting back up, but she tried to hold back her laughter as hard as she could.

Lauren liked him and made a mental note to meet Julian someday. He had such a cute little tail but most importantly he seemed a bit off his rocker and Lauren could relate with those kind of people.

Compassion Lauren, normal people would feel sorry for him... She put on a worried look as she went over towards Amaya's table hoping she wouldn't be too sore about their last conversation.
"Is... he alright?" She asked about Julian as she sat down her tray. She also remembered that Amaya had indeed changed. "Are YOU alright?" yeah, no compliments on the awesome scales and claws yet. Those could be dangerous.

Emerwyn
Emerwyn heard Amaya say the name Julian... That name sounded familiar...

Emerwyn immeadiately got up when the poor man began rushing out. She was beyond confused. He was speaking so differently now... What happened to him?
She wanted to go and help him, but by the time he'd run headlong into the wall, she was barely out of her chair. She was filled with pity as she watched him run off into the night.
She sat back down, and noticed something on the table. It was a bookmark. It must have been the young man's. She subtley pocketed it and made a note in her head to return it; it would be a good excuse to see how he was doing.

When he was gone, she turned her attention to the new face. Speaking of her face, if looked a little strained, like it wasn't used to showing softer emotions. She seemed concerned enough, however, for both Julian and Amaya.

Julian.... Now she remembered! He was the one who had gone insane... the one who lived above Ambrose... The poor dear...

Amaya Vaughan
"Julian!" Amaya winced and put her hands over her mouth as she watched him barrel into the wall. She wanted to chase after him but he probably wanted to be alone for awhile... she'd have to check up on him later to make sure he was okay. Sighing she sat back down heavily, ready to pour into an explaination to Emerwyn who was probably either deathly confused or really freaked out.

"I dunno..." She shook her head and leaned back into her chair, crossing her arms over her chest. Concern highly outweighing her anger at Lauren. "And yeah, I'm fine." Knowing Thorn, she more then likely knew she had already changed and probably watched it... weirdo. The though made a chill run up her spine but she tried to push the thought out of her head.

Lauren Granger
Amaya was being defensive and that was expected. "Well, I hope he's alright. I don't know what happened but that did not look good at all." Lauren looked towards the exit Julian ran out of with a sigh. The sigh was genuine but only because Lauren wanted to study the odd effects the serem had on this speciman.

And, she actually did hate to see someone go through that much mental anguish. Of course, that was hidden and only starting to take effect of her DNA.

"And I'm glad your alright." She knew of course, Amaya wasn't. It looked like she was going to see more cute anger from the girl.

Thorn extended a hand out to Emerwyn, "Heya, I'm Thorn. I've never met you." She put on a cheesy smile awaiting the other handshake and hoping that the introduction was proper enough.

Emerwyn
"It's a pleasure, Thorn," She smiled, too. Emerwyn repressed a grimace at the look on Thorn's face... It reminded her of elementary school photos, when the photographer won't take the picture until you smile, teeth bared.
What Emerwyn was truly interested in right now, however, was Julian. She looked to Amaya for answers.

Amaya Vaughan
Green gaze shifted away from the table and up to Lauren to give her a good, hard look. Why was she being so nice? To suck up to the islanders or something for that pri- ... Holy crap, what was she thinking? Why was she so bitchy?! Amaya mumbled to herself and rubbed her forehead, looking into her lap to keep from glaring at anyone. Thorn was really the LAST person she needed to be around right now...

Out of the corner of her eye she caught Emerwyn looking at her. Snapping out of her own little daze, she shook her head and looked at her. "You were there when Ambrose told us about Julian, right? His upstairs neighbor? Well... that was him. He's got split-personalities, Julian and one that calls himself The Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland. When Cheshire is out I don't think the real Julian is even conscious. I'm pretty sure his change was what caused it... by what Ambrose said and what I saw..." Amaya trailed off, looking down saddly.

Lauren Granger
Lauren smiled sincerly at Amaya's hard look. The scales had made her a bit more intimidating... how adorable.

Then she listened into the conversation... Now wait a minute... there is no way... is there? the doc hadn't told her anything about the serums causing schizophrenia or multiple personality disorder or anything like that. Wasn't that jus the way Julian was to begin with.

Thorn gave a puzzled look towards Amaya, "Multiple Personality Disorder? The serum can't cause that. Well... unless...." If his mind was already leaning towards the insane, the pain and trauma could cause a mental illness to come forth.

She leaned foreward onto her hand, dark brown eyes looking inward. "The change must of broke him." Now what a messed up way to react when there were so many more positive ways!

Oh well, the food was getting cold. She began to devoir it ferociously.

Emerwyn
Emerwyn shared Amaya's sadness, but at the same time, couldn't ignore the hard looks she was giving Thorn. They obviously did not get along.

She glanced over at Thorn, now gorging her food. What she said made her nervous, but she was pretty sure Julian's case was unique. "I don't know," she said in response. "I've seen other people who have begun transforming. They seemed pretty sane to me." She tried to sound casual, when she was actually feeling quite overwhelmed.

Amaya Vaughan
"I don't think he was entirly stable to begin with. It pushed him over the edge... poor guy." Amaya sighed again, keeping her eyes on her lap and curling her toes a little bit. Gradually she was getting a feel for how her new feet worked. "He shouldn't be here." Realizing she had been sitting in the cafeteria the entire day, she stood up and grabbed a salad along with another bottled water before sitting back down.

Lauren Granger
Thorn continued to gorge her food down. "No, he wasn't stable at all but he knew how to keep his mind sane enough." She added with her mouth full. "But he should be fine, just needs to get used to things, maybe some medication would help." she had just learned about all sorts of wonderful medications available for mental disorders. Oddly enough no one ever suggested she take any.

"They seriously need a shrink on this island." Maybe she could get Moreau to kidnap one...

Emerwyn
She nodded in agreement with both of them.
What she did not agree with, however, was Thorn's suggestion of medication. She didn't like doctors. And the idea of medication was too unnatural.
"I think we have enough doctors here..." Emerwyn's anger was showing through again. She hoped she would not get carried away.

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl just managed a sigh at Thorn, the anger having melted away as quickly as it came. In the back of her mind she was still worried about that sudden outburst... she never got like that. She nibbled at her salad and pushed around the greens, her scales starting to take on a duller colour rather slowly. Being in the air conditioned building the entire day was really sucking the heat and energy out of her.

"I dunno, it might help to bring a shrink here... for Julian's sake." Gaze shifted over to Emerwyn for her oppinion, looking rather tired and worn out.

Lauren Granger
Lauren nodded in agreement to Emerwyn's statement. Doctor Moreau was doctor enough to take care of the whole island! If anyone could take care of Julian's problem he could.

But then right after that brilliant statement, Amaya suggested bringing a shrink here again. But wasn't that what Lauren was trying to say. Man she was just so confused. This socialisation thing never came naturally.

She resorted to a slight nod towards both as her cheeks were stuffed making her look like an anorexic chipmunk who just quit the whole anorexic thing.

Emerwyn
"Well, I guess my opinion wouldn't be worth much in this case."
She wondered if going to see a doctor when Ketta had suggested it would have been a good idea.
She ran her hand up and down her cheek. It was clammy, and no doubt getting paler. She hadn't touched her salad yet. She couldn't bring herself to.

Amaya Vaughan
Gradually Amaya was putting a dent in her salad. After she had finished this she would definatly have to head home and... bask a little bit, even though she hated having to give in to urges that weren't her own just to stay alive. She wondered what would happen if she didn't bask or stay in the heat... would she freeze to death?

"I don't think any of us really have a say in the matter anyway." She gave a weak shrug. God, she felt anemic.

Lauren Granger
"Don't say that! Your opinion always matters even if people do disagree." Thorn happened to be a very opinionated individual so hated it when people put away their own thoughts to please others.

"I'll do it! I'll suggest it." Thorn said with her mouth full. She filed that away into her memory banks for later.

Between bites she noticed Amaya's sudden weakness. "are you alright? You look pale..." She hoped the girl wasn't going to throw up her salad all over the table.

Emerwyn
"Well, that's kind of ironic. If you'd like to know what I think... I don't like the idea of having any more doctors here. As much as I have concern for Julian, I don't think any doctor Moreau finds will be of good repute... I have no trust for doctors at all, and this experience is only making it worse." Her voice faded with every word, but it did not seem so, because of the passion with which she spoke. Amaya was not the only one feeling sick. Emerwyn knew she wasn't going to last much longer. She was about to pass out like Julian.
She tried to say something else, but her throat closed up.

Amaya Vaughan
"Thanks." She gave a slight smile and took another bite of her salad. "Nope. I've been in here all day in the air conditioning. I'm cold blooded now so I gotta leave after I finish this else I won't be able to drag myself back to my duplex." Amaya gave a slight laugh, her attitude matching her tempature.

"You've got a point, Emerwyn..." She would have elaborated, but her mind was in slow-mo and she couldn't think of anything at the moment. "Are you feeling okay?" The woman looked pretty pale too.

Lauren Granger
Lauren looked a little frightened as her two lunch buddies had looked like they were going to throw up. She put her food aside, deciding not to eat the rest. Damn lunch ladies.

"I don't know, I like Moreau but I think he might be able to fix the problem himself. I'm sure he knows something about psychology, or maybe Madison could help?" Thorn had never met Madison but she knew that Moreau's genes had to make her a good person.
The scary part was she was being completely honest, "Can't go against my own advice." She explained almost apologetically to Emerwyn who had just almost thrown up over thinking about Moreau.

Emerwyn
Emerwyn grimaced. She didn't think it was possible that anyone could like that deceitful, slimy, disgusting.......
Not wanting to reply, she made a small noise. She didn't know whjo Madison was, but if she had anything to do with Moreau, than Emerwyn wanted nothign to do with her.

"I've felt worse," she said to Amaya. "But thanks."

Amaya Vaughan
"Anyway, I'm gonna call it a night." Amaya finished off her salad and pushed herself to a stand. Jeeze, it was hard walking on tiptoe when you felt like you were going to fall over. "I'll see you two later and I hope ya feel better, Emerwyn." Giving a wave, she bussed her tray and headed back to her duplex.

Lauren Granger
"See ya Amaya, get some sun or something, Iguana's need that." Thorn said as Amaya left.
Thorn looked at her watch with some surprise as the conversation seemed to be going towards the gloom. "AHH! Look, I'm late, geuss I'm going too. Neat ta meet cha Emerwyn! Sorry that I have to be off so quick but duty calls." She didn't say exactly what.

She left her tray rudely there as her lanky frame ran off to the lab for another lesson. Maybe she could ask to see Amaya's transformation again... for research.

Thorn grinned widely at that thought.

Emerwyn
"Feel better, Amaya," Emerwyn breathed.

What could she be late for at this hour?
Emerwyn didn't much like the girl, and was glad to be rid of her company.

She wondered if Thorn was one of Moreau's lackies. She didn't want to think about what other sick things the Doctor might use this Island for.

She sat alone for a while, not willing, and barely able to life her body.
When she finally got up, Emerwyn reluctantly cleared Thorn's tray, call it O.C.D. if you will, and then took her own salad back to her room, with the hopes that she could bring herself to eat it.

The next morning, she saw the same salad wilted on her table, still untouched.

Amaya let out a rather loud yawn as she approached her duplex, practically tripping up the stairs. She blinked green eyes at the note on her door as she unlocked it, grabbing the note with her lips gently and shoving herself inside. She was too lazy to reach up and grab it, dammit. After shutting and locking the door she stripped down to her black underwear and flopped on the bed, letting the lamp overhead warm her considerably. God... she felt really bad and would have to remember to never spend an entire day in an air-conditioned room again.

After a few minutes she gathered up enough energy to take the note from her lips and hold it up to read it.

A Halloween party? ... Sweet.

If it wasn't for her completely lack of energy she would have squealed and danced around her room on her underwear, but this time she opted for simply grinning. ... Wait, who the hell was Aubrey? She squinted at the note and smelled it. A woman's handwriting and the smell of some kind of perfume... huh. Hadn't some of the other islanders mentioned her before? She shrugged to herself and slapped the note on her bedside table.

Amaya basked for a good half an hour if not more before finally getting up and taking a lukewarm bath. Oooo, she knew who to go as! Jumping up from her bath she wrapped in a towel and walked over to the intercom, pressing '0' before the idea left her...

The following day Amaya felt TONS better. The anger wasn't there, the coldness and anemic feeling wasn't there, and overall she felt... pretty good. Smiling, she sat up, still in only her PJ's after her bath from the night before. For a few moments she simply sat in her bed blinking the sleep from her eyes and staring at her toes... something she had forced herself to do every day since the transformation. They were her toes now and she would have to get used to them regardless of how... revolting they looked. She curled her toes, then uncurled them, and then put one down at a time. They weren't as jointed or flexible as her hands, but they were a lot more then her old toes used to be. The quicker she got used to them, the better she would be able to walk.

After her little morning 'exercises' she stood up and stretched, making her way over towards the desk where her journal lay.

Quote:
Dear Bob,

Well, I guess I got my second injection in my sleep, which is... really creepy. The transformation hurt, but not as much as I thought it would. I have green scales on my arms, legs, and back and my fingers and toes are really long, same with my fingernails... which are more like, claws now. At first walking was really weird and kinda hard. I have to walk on tiptoe and my balance isn't very good, but gradually I'm getting the hang of it. Anyway, enough of that. Something I don't like indulging in, y'know?

I've been meeting up with a lot of people recently, mostly because I really rather not be alone at a time like this. I bumped into a man named Julian the other day who had developed split-personality disorder because of his change... I feel so bad for him. His other self is called The Cheshire Cat, like in Alice In Wonderland. For some reason he really rubs me the wrong way. I saw Thorn again too and for some reason I had a HUGE temper towards her for like... 10 minutes which was... scary. I'm never like that. I need to go and ask Ambrose if the new DNA messes with our minds and personality too soon...

I got some kinda... invitation to a Halloween party thingy too! It was on my door when I came back from the cafeteria. I'm going to go as Alice from Resident Evil 2... cool, right? Yeah. You know I'm right.

Anyway, I think I'm gonna go take a dip in the pond. Byes!

At the Beach with Colche

Colche
Big blue eyes admored the similarily blue sky as she sat upon her door step. It was another early morning and the sun streaked through the greenery of the trees. She sat humming the song she didn't know the words too occasionally saying, "little starfish" She smiles to noone in particular it was early usually noone was out at this time just as the sun had fully risen, it was swiftly becoming her favourite time of day, she even managed to catch a few sunrises, which were really pretty through the trees. She stretches, contemplating upon what she would do today, well, maybe she should get dressed first, getting dressed wasn't exactly on top of her list of priorities but everyone seeemd to want to make her wear them so who was she to argue?

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya made her way down the steps and walked rather quickly towards the pond. In her oppinion, she was barely wearing anything and felt really, really naked. The sooner she got in the water the better. A towel was drapped around her neck and she held it closed at her neck with long, clawed fingers.

As she walked down the row of duplexes, she spotted a rather... nude Colche. Yah! The poor girl didn't know she was naked?! Thank god she was a girl, otherwise Amaya would have screamed bloody murder and ran like hell. She quickly ran up to Colche and leaned down to her level. "Colche, you need to get into some clothes!" She couldn't help but smile and laugh a little.

Colche
Colche looked over at Amaya watching as she rushed over like it was the end of the world. Colche gave a tiny giggle and tilted her head lightly "cloathes" she said simply, sort of dissapointed that she had to put cloathes on again, it was getting rather tireing. She humphs a bit and stands shuffling in to her duplex. Her long jetblack hair shifs with her movement, revealing the scars down her back, healed but still deep. She pauses for a moment and looks thoughtful heading for her bathing costume, maybe she could get amaya to go down the beach. She smiles to herself stepping in tot he simple blue lycra swim costume before walking back out again "beach amaya?" she tilts her head in a questioning manner huge doe eyes looking hopeful.

Amaya Vaughan
Green eyes looked into blue and she smiled her sharp, pointed teeth. "Sure! You wanna go down to the beach?" She walked inside and grabbed a towel from Colche's bathroom in case she was brave enough to tred a little into the ocean. "You ready?" Amaya smiled up at her, eyes hidden behind her large orange visor.

Colche
Colche nodded gently those huge innocent blue eyes fixed on Amaya, she had actually been down to the beach all on her own earlier in the week but it felt nice to have somone lead the way,s eh hadn't quite gotten the knack of being independant yet. Her fingers reach out and grab a bit of amayas shirt looking at her like a little lost sheep waiting to be led to what ever destination the shepard wished it . "beach" she grins a little, she loved the beach.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya smiled kindly and took the hand that was grabbing her shirt in her gloved hand instead. "Let's go then!" She led Colche down to the beach, walking slower then she was earlier. The ocean breeze and smell of salt water and sand met them first as always, soon followed by the sound of the waves crashing onto the beach and up against the rocks.

"You've been to the beach before, right? Have you ever been in the ocean?" She looked back at her, eyes still evident from behind her visor and the sun reflecting off of some of the scales crawling down her legs, arms, and back.

Colche
Colche smiled "water! fish!" she exclaimed smiling lightly, she loved the beach it was the first place she had felt simplay amazed by her surroundings. She sighs happily and looks at amaya with a grin "water!" she pulls amaya suddenly leading her towards the foamy waves. Water was fun and one of those things that facinated her.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yah!" Amaya was caught off guard by the raven-haired girl's sudden enthusiasm, stumbling a bit before finally keeping in tow with her. They reached the beach rather quickly and she leaned back a little bit to get Colche to slow down. "Okay, lemme put our towels over there then we'll go into the water." Smiling, she let go of Colche's hand and ran over to a palm. After placing both their towels down along with her pendent and the clothing she wore over her simple bathing suit, she went back to her new friend.

"Alright, their are a few rules you havta remember about the ocean okay?" She grabbed Colche's hand and led her to the water's edge, the liquid washing up over their feet. "You can only go out until the water is up to here, no further okay?" Amaya put a clawed hand to her bare waist and patted it a few times, then did the same to Colche to make sure she understood. "The water can only come up to your waist."

Colche
Colche looks thoughtful "waist" she smiles lightly, she had never gopne past ehr ancles and she was very unlikely to at this point, seh liked to splash and chase the little silver fishies. She giggles and nods "water!" she says agaiin looking happy, excited, extatic to be near the cool blue waves the foamy sudds lapping at her ancles. She splashes a little in to the eaves before sitting with a loud splash, her kneed beneathe her.

Big dep blue eyes contemplated the water and her fingers slipped beneathe the waves when ever she saw a little shoal of glittering silver fish "fish!" she looks at Amaya with a childish, gleeful smile, though the smile didn't quite touch those big baby blue eyes.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, fishies!" She grinned and nodded, wadding in until the waves hit her waist since she felt rather uncomfortable with so much of herself exposed. "Can you catch some of the fishies?" Clawed hands dipped into the water as she felt around on the bottom for seashells, small fish, and the like. "Or find some pretty seashells?"

Colche
"sea..shells?" colche bit her tongus looking thoughtful she fished around in the bottom of the sand pulling up a pretty little pink squirly shell. She looks overly surprised at this discovery and holds it out to Amaya "pretty" she whispers a proud smile on her delecate features.

Amaya Vaughan
"Seashell!" Amaya nodded, taking the shell from Colche and swishing it around in the water to clean out all the sand. Once it was clean she handed it back to her. "Pretty seashell." She smiled and dug more around in the sand, finding something and pulling it up to look.

A very angry crab stared back at her. "EEE!" Squealing, she threw it back into the water just before it could snap her finger off. "Not a seashell."

Colche
Colche lets out a little giggle at amayas actions "crab" she says with a grin, Greer had told ehr what that was. She holds tightly to the seashell fully intending totake it back home and add it to her small pile of posessions currently consisting of a prety butterfly wall hanging. It was nice to have things but maybe she should ask amaya if she could take it home first "colche seashell?" she enquiered her deep blue eyes looking at the girl questioningly, hoping she could keep the pretty pink shell.

Amaya Vaughan
"Mean crab." She laughed nervously and put her hands back in the water, this time more careful what she picked up. Upon hearing Colche's question she looked up. What'd she mean? Brow furrowed and she thought for a moment. Was she asking if she could keep it? "Your seashell." Amaya nodded and stood, motioning for her to follow. Walking up to where she had set their towels, she took it from Colche and opened up her towel, putting it inside. "Well keep it safe here, that way you don't loose it and can take it back home."

Colche
Colche smiled brightly, she could keep the seashell? yay! She grins broadly "colche seashell pretty" she giggles sitting on her towel and looking out towards the sea "beach pretty" she sighs gently those big deep blue eyes forever facinated by the ocean, it's waves and tides. She suddenly rememberd she had forgotten her bucket and spade, no sand castles today. She looked at the other dark hairedf girl and smiled lightly "Colche like beach" she thought it deserved to be said, she was happy to be here again and with a new friend, amaya was nice.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded and smiled over to her new friend. "Beach very nice 'n pretty." She sat down next to her, unwrapping her pendent from her towel and putting it on while they sat there and setting her clothes to the side. Wrapping the towel around her shoulders she looked back out to the sea with her legs stretched out, toes curling and uncurling. "Beach even prettier during sunset. You ever see the beach at sunset, Colche?" She looked over at her, feeling rather energized by the heat from the sun.

Colche
"sun..set" she mimicked the word though she didn't know what it meant, what was the sun? She blinks a few times stretching and relaxing happy to let the sun warm her water cooled skin. She gives a little sigh, staying silent at least for the moment. She licks her lips and smiles giving just a little yawn even though her eyes never left the ebautiful view from the top of the beach, she even wonderd, what else was out there? She was content to just sit and gaze at the glimmering waters.

Amaya Vaughan
She didn't even know what the sunset was? Jeeze... how to explain this one? While Colche gazed, Amaya tried to think of how to explain it. "Well, the sun is the big bright thing in the sky." Sheilding her eyes, a clawed hand pointed up towards the sun. "Sun." For now she would stop there until the raven-haired girl understood.

Colche
Colche glanced at the bright ball, well at least she knew what that was called now "sun" she mimics smiling lightly her deep blue eyes looking at amaya for the next explination, sunset, what was a set and what did it have to do with the bright ball? things could be soconfusingfg in this new life.

Amaya Vaughan
"SunSET is where the sun goes down and dissapears, making it dark out." Amaya pointed at the sun and moved her finger down to the ocean, indicating what the sun did. "SunRISE is where the sun comes up, making it daytime." She repeated the motion, but backwards.

Colche
"dark, day time" she looked at amaya with one of those big catty yawns escaping her her big deep eyes watching her like a hawk. she shakes her head trying to brush away her sleepyness, she was so tired all the time of late, it was strange but it felt good to cat nap.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya smiled as she watched her yawn. "Are you sleepy, Colche? Do you wanna go back home to sleep?"

Colche
Colche closed ehr eyes rubbing them with the backs of her hands "sleep, seventeen" she gave a little puurr looking around for her shell she pickedit up and held it tightly to herself looking at amaya another yawn escaping her "sleep amaya" she whispers, standing and holding tightly to her shell like it was her dearest posession.

Amaya Vaughan
"Okay, one minute." After brushing off the sand that had collected on her damp swimsuit, putting on her clothes, and making sure they had all their belongings she headed back to the duplexes. She walked slowly, knowing that Colche was probably tired and not as energetic as she was before.

"I'm in number 20, okay?" Amaya dug around in her short pockets and pulled out a piece of paper and a rather stubby pencil, writing '20' on it and pointing to it then to herself. "20. Amaya." Hopefully she would understand and come to her if she ever wanted or needed anything. She handed the paper to Colche, sticking the pencil back in her pocket.

Colche
"too..en..tee" colche spelt it out looking at the strange markings, it must be another plaque some where maybe she would look for it after her nap. She yawns massively again as they approached the duplexses and she pushed her door open, she didn't understand the 'lock' system yet. She shuffles to her dresser and places the pretty pink swirly shell on it with a happy smile she turns to amaya stripping out of her bathing suit without a worry in the world she crawls in to ehr bed pulling the blankets around her "nice amaya, sleep nows" she whispers yawning broadly her body curling tightly under the sheets.

Amaya Vaughan
"Nighty night, Colche." Smiling, Amaya waved and shut the door silently before heading to her own duplex.

A Snake & a Lizard Walk Into a Bar...

Amaya Vaughan
After taking Colche back to her duplex and changing, Amaya headed down to the cafeteria for some food. This time she didn't look around to see if anyone was inside, feeling pretty okay about her apperance now that more people knew. She walked down the line, grabbing a spinach salad and a water bottle before finally turning around to see if anyone else was inside that she knew.

Cassidy Smith
With a plate of sausages balanced in one hand, Cass made her way through the cafeteria. Feeling pretty good today. Yep. She could totally deal with scales. Really, she could.

At least, she felt that way today.

Wasn't that... that Amaya girl? And were those... oh no.

She'd been seriously hoping no one else would be going reptilian until she'd finished dealing with her own reflection. Poor kid, though.

"Amaya? How're you doing?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Oh, hey Cassidy." Amaya smiled and walked over, still free of any socks or shoes since she had yet to think of anything to cover them up. She took a seat next to her, kind of glad that she had grown scales just so Cass didn't feel so alone anymore... or at least she hoped it made her feel a little better now that her misery had a little company so to speak. "I'm fine. Been copeing 'n stuff." She poked around her salad and took a bite. "What about you? Have you been doin' okay?"

Cassidy Smith
Well, at least it was a pretty safe guess that Amaya wasn't going to be another snake. Those feet were... something else.

"I'm doing okay, for the most part. Reading a lot. You finding something to keep yourself busy?"

That was the biggest problem, it seemed.

Amaya Vaughan
She nodded and looked down at her salad as she talked. "Been seeking a lot of people out, craving for attention, that kinda thing. Being alone right now is probably the worst thing I could be doing." Green gaze came back up and she gave a lonesome looking smile. "So what kinda books do you read?"

Cassidy Smith
"Mostly science fiction. Although..." Cassidy grinned a little. "Some of it I'm not so keen on anymore. It's hard to take some of these aliens seriously when I look worse then them?" She laughed, and it came out sounding only slightly forced.

She took a bite of sausage, swallowed, and pursed her lips. "I have a question for you, though. You don't have to answer if you don't want to, but... well. Since you seem to be going reptilian too, I was wondering if you've been getting cold easily." Cassidy tapped the table awkwardly.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya forced a small laugh too and gave a 'yeah' in agreement. As she thought of the question, she took another bite from her salad. "Actually yeah, but I just guessed that I'm turning cold-blooded..." She trailed off, not really wanting to think about how odd that thought really was. "My room is around 90 degress constantly and that's when I'm the most comfortable. I stayed in here the entire day a few days ago and the air-conditioning really got to me. When it got dark I could barely drag myself back to my duplex." The young girl looked up at Cassidy wondering if she was going through the same thing.

Cassidy Smith
"So, it's not my imagination." Cassidy nodded. "I've been getting absolutely useless when I get chilled. I wish I'd brought more sweaters... I mean, when I arrived, this place was too hot for me. I guess we're both going to have to be careful about the air conditioning." She grimaced.

Amaya Vaughan
"You could always ask for some sweaters." Amaya suggested, kicking her legs back and forth slightly. "But yeah... I figure that's probably what's it. What else could it be? Everything with scales that I know of is cold-blooded." She was glad she had always been overly modest and wore layers AND long-sleeve shirts and pants regardless of how hot it may be.

Cassidy Smith
"I don't suppose they've told you exactly what it is you're turning into?" Cassidy asked cautiously. "Some sort of lizard, it looks like..."

Lizards. Why couldn't she have that sort of insurance on keeping her arms and legs, huh? No, wait, that was an incredibly selfish and petty thing to think. She was trying not to do that.

Amaya Vaughan
"Nope, been too chicken to ask... but it does seem like some sort of lizard. Like a komodo dragon or an iguana or something." She wondered if Cassidy knew what kind of snake she was turning into, but decided it was best not to pry. It was definatly a snake, so their was the chance that the poor woman could loose all her limbs... god, that would be horrible.

Cassidy Smith
"I've been too scared to ask, too," Cass admitted. "But, well... the forked tongue is a bit of a giveaway... Oh, oh man." She gave herself a shake--it was too easy to start slipping into negative thoughts, lately. Just... just pretend everything was okay. It got easier every day. "At least you seem to be going vegetarian." She poked with a fork at Amaya's salad.

Amaya Vaughan
Meep! Get on a positve subject... something off of the whole snake thing and... on yourself, maybe? Cassidy seemed to get down rather easily about the whole thing, so the best thing to do was switch the topic either on herself or something irrelivent. "Yep, fruit and veggies seem to be all I can stomach down recently."

Cassidy Smith
"Well, that's not too bad. You're not craving bugs or raw meat. Oh, man. What happens..." Cassidy raised an eyebrow. "What happens if someone gets injected with vampire bat DNA, or mosquito, or... or... leeches." Ew ew ew ew EW.

Cass abruptly remembered that she was talking with someone rather younger than her. She couldn't just go saying stuff like that to people she didn't know that well, anyway--they might take it seriously and dwell on it, and she wouldn't know. "Well, um. I bet they wouldn't do something like that, anyway," she amended, though she was not at all sure of this fact.

Amaya Vaughan
"Well, Hargun is turning into a bat of some kind and she's been craving bugs. It's kinda of disgusting but not that bad..." Amaya twitched at the thought of a mosquito person. "Mosquito DNA would be... really horrible, though." Wow, she needed to think of something positive to talk about and fast.

Cassidy Smith
"I saw her, yeah." Cassidy grimaced.

This was an awful conversation. Geez, Cass, couldn't you manage to open your mouth without something stupid coming out? For once in your life? She cleared her throat. "On the plus side, I... um." There had to be a plus side. "I can smell with my tongue...?"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya paused in mid-bite, staring at the blonde as she relayed that rather... random information. She stiffled some laughter and swallowed, laughing slightly. "I can taste emotions with my tongue... if that makes any sense." She hadn't told anyone else about it yet since it was... rather odd. The sensation was strange and creepy to her, so most of the time she forced herself to keep her tongue inside her mouth and not stick it out to taste what people were feeling.

Cassidy Smith
"Emotions?" Cassidy blinked. "Really?" And immediately, her mind went into full sci-fi geek mode. "Smell-based empathy... not completely unheard of... I didn't know there were any lizards could do anything like that, but... well, there are pheromones you could be picking up on, and..."

She cut herself off, and blushed. "Sorry."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya's eyebrows rose, rather surprised at what she was being told. "No, keep going." This was more information they she would probably ever get out of the staff, especially with her being deathly afraid of them. "What're... pheromones?"

Cassidy Smith
"Well." Cassidy tapped her fingers together. "I'm not an expert or anything. Farthest thing from it, and I'm probably getting this just a little wrong, but people and animals are always creating these chemicals, in sweat and stuff, called pheromones. The human sense of smell is, well, not great, but a lot of people think we can pick up on the various smells on a subconscious level. The general belief is that they're mostly associated with, well, sex appeal and stuff. But, well, if you can train a dog to alert epileptics to oncoming seizures, they're obviously smelling something we can't." She chewed her lip for a moment. "I'm all over the place, sorry. But it is entirely possible that you can smell the chemicals people are releasing all the time, and the way they change according to mood. That's... that's... well, that's incredible."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya listened intently as Cassidy explained, rather amazed. Maybe being able to taste people's emotions wasn't that bad after all. It still felt kind of like she was invading people's privacy of their own emotions, though.

To test it out her long, pink tongue came out of her mouth for merely a second for she quickly drew it back in. Ugh, her new tongue was disgusting looking. She did however pick up a few emotions from Cassidy in that short period of time, some she couldn't really place yet since the whole new sense still confused her.

Cassidy Smith
That was just, well, a little gross. But, Cassidy had to admit, it couldn't be any worse than her own tongue.

"I guess I sort of have to wonder how strong my own sense of smell's going to get, then," she said. "And how much stronger yours will get, too."

The whole idea was... well, pretty damn cool, if it came down to it.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah... guess it might be kinda cool, actually." Amaya gave a tiny smile, still weirded out by her own tongue. Aside from brushing her teeth she never forced herself to look at it and she was just now getting a hang of her new feet, the tongue could wait. "So you have a snakes tongue then?" She winced after the last word slipped from her mouth. Cassidy was sensitive about that kinda stuff.

Cassidy Smith
"Yeah." Cassidy grimaced a little, then let her forked tongue flicker out from between her lips for a second. Amaya did smell a bit different from the last time she'd seen her, anyway, but that was hardly a surprise. "I'm always fighting it, you know. I guess it's instincts or something, to be sticking my tongue out every few moments, but... well. It's sort of creepy." She shrugged, trying to pretend this didn't bother her as much as it did.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, I know what you mean. The urge to stick mine out is there but it's not really strong... I still can't look at it without getting grossed out, though. I'm just now getting used to my feet." She looked underneath the table at them and curled her toes in. "At first I couldn't even get myself to walk... then I learned that I have to walk on tiptoes so I don't end up tripping." The air-conditioning was starting to get to her and she would have shivered if she could, but settled for rubbing her arm through her shirt.

Cassidy Smith
"The feet are actually, well, sort of neat looking," Cassidy admitted, with an earnest grin. "Really, they are. Although I bet they'd be weird to walk on, yeah. You seem to be doing okay."

She found herself stifling a yawn. Getting sleepy... yes... just, a nap right here would be good... no, wait. She needed to get out in the sun, didn't she? She peered curiously at Amaya. "Are you cold, too? Maybe we should, well, get outside."

Amaya Vaughan
"Guess they are kinda neat..." Amaya smiled slightly and finished off her salad, swallowing before speaking. "Actually, yeah." She nodded and stood up. "I think the air-conditioning is starting to sink in." A gloved hand went up and rubbed her arm again to keep herself a little warmer.

Cassidy Smith
Cassidy swallowed the last of her sausages. "I think you're right. I'm starting to get a bit foggy-headed myself." She stretched as she got up, rubbing at her hairless arms. "I think I'll just go sit in the sun for a while, or something. Read a bit. Yeah."

She pursed her lips thoughtfully. "It's been pretty good, though, having someone else to discuss this sort of thing with." Cass smiled. "I dunno if I ever told you--I'm in number three. I guess, well, us reptiles gotta stick together or something." She shrugged.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded in agreement and bussed her tray. "I'm in number 20. I think I'm gonna go back there and... bask for a little bit." She winced at the word, hateing to even mention it. "I see you around Cassidy." With a smile and a wave she headed out of the cafeteria.

10 Year Anniversary

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya grunted as she slammed another piece of driftwood into the sand, manuvering it around until it stood up sturdy enough on it's own. After making sure it would stay up she stood back and looked at the project she had been working for the day. Three large pieces of driftwood stood up in the sand, two small ones and a larger one inbetween them. "I'm sorry, but this is the best I can do for now..."

She trailed off and kneeled on the sand, taking from a large pile of rocks she had collected and placing them around the base of the driftwood to give it extra incentive to stay standing.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer trailed to the beach, looking for Sean but not planning to admit it if anyone asked her. The last person she expected to see there was Amaya, and walking in on the girl's conctruction efforts had never even crossed her mind.

"...hello?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Hm?" Green eyes shifted from the rocks she was laying up to Greer, the usual smile not even attempting to spread across her face. "Oh, hey Greer." Today was one of the few days she couldn't even force herself to grin. "How're you doin'?" She continued to lay rocks, shoving them at the base of the driftwood and wiggling them to make sure they kept it sturdy.

Greer Cassenwari
"I'm good." She watched the girl's actions silently, trying to puzzle them out. Finally, she had to ask, even though it was clear she was intruding. "What are you doing?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Making makeshift graves for my parents. I realized that from now on I won't be able to visit them anymore so..." She trailed off unable to make herself finish her sentence, her voice catching in her throat.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer was stayed quiet, watching for a moment. "Can I help?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Sure." Amaya moved over some, opening a spot next to her as she continued to set in the rocks. Her voice seemed devoid of emotion, the only thing keeping her from breaking down and crying was probably her own will.

Greer Cassenwari
She mirrored the girl's work, arranging as best she could. "How long has it been?"

Amaya Vaughan
"10 years today." The young girl let out a shaky sigh, obviously holding back and keeping herself busy with the rocks just to keep herself from really focusing her entire mind on what today really was.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer reached out and put a light hand on the girl's shoulder. "I'm sorry. I know how you feel."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya stopped what she was doing and let her head hang, shoulders shaking slightly. "I always get a feeling it's my fault..." She took a breath inbetween sentences. "I know it's stupid but... they went out the night before my birthday to get my birthday present... b-because if they bought it any sooner I would find it." A hoarse laugh escaped her mouth. "They were out shopping for me and having a night to themselves when... when..." Her voice choked and she couldn't finish her sentence.

Greer Cassenwari
Oh no. She had her own issues with the death of her father by cancer, but she couldn't imagine living with something like that. Holding out her arms to Amaya, she offered a hug. "Oh honey, you can't blame yourself! Your parents clearly loved you very much."

Amaya Vaughan
Sniffing, she let herself fall into Greer's embrace. How come Greer was always the one around when she ended up needing comforting? "I know b-but I can't h-help it." She choked out between short, almost silent sobs. It had been 10 years since she started to cry at around the same time on the same day... gradually it was getting harder and harder to cry over it which scared her. She wanted to cry, especially for her parents.

Greer Cassenwari
"Shh, I know." Greer closed her eyes, mimicing the motions her mother had gone through for her when she was fifteen. "If there was I way I could've died instead of my dad, I would have. It's a horrible, natural feeling. But it wasn't your fault."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded, unable to really respond as she choked back a few more sobs. "I-I know... but you can't help b-but feel that you could've done... s-something to prevent it."

Greer Cassenwari
Greer gave the girl a big squeeze and then held her at arms length, giving her a sad smile while she wiped away her tears. "Of course not. When my dad was in the hospital I practically stuck a needle in my arm in an effort to get them to give him a blood transfution in hopes that would make him better. He had heart cancer, so it wouldn't, but that didn't stop me from trying."

She nodded to the construction project. "You are a very loving daughter to torture yourself like this building these. Why the beach?"

Amaya Vaughan
"I'm sorry..." She sniffed, sitting up but letting Greer still hold her. "'Cause the view." Her head turned around to the ocean, the sunset just starting to reach the edge of the waves. "Dad never did like the beach even though my mom did... but we all loved the sunset, so I figured they would like it here where they could watch it every night."

Greer Cassenwari
She smiled, smoothing Amaya's hair behind her ears. "That's a lovely sentiment. Mind if I stay and share it with you?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Sure." Amaya finally gave a small smile.

Shortly after, a yawn escaped her mouth and she started to lean into Greer. Paired with crying and the sun setting, she was starting to get rather cold and felt anemic. Her eyelids slowly started to drop, shoulders sagging.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer smiled, tugging the girl into the crook of her arm. Poor thing had had a bad day, and was becoming reptilian besides. She needed to get warm.

"Come on you, let's get you home so you can sleep."

Amaya Vaughan
"Nnnn..." Amaya squeezed her eyes shut hard to wake herself up a bit. "Mmkay." She stood and let out another yawn, looking down at the three posts she had made for her father, mother and grandmother. A small prayer ran through her mind for them even though she herself wasn't at all faithful, it was just a habit she had picked up over the years since her parents had always been. Green eyes trailed back up to Greer and she smiled again. "Thanks Greer..."

Greer Cassenwari
She smiled, putting an arm around the girl's shoulders and turning them back towards the village. "Anytime. We islanders are practically family after all. The experiments must take care of their own."

Amaya Vaughan
She laughed slightly and nodded as they walked, being a little taller then she initially was when she arrived due to the fact that she now had to walk on tiptoe. "Yeah..."

As they reached her duplex, she unlocked the door and opened it slightly, a rush of hot and humid air pouring out from inside. "Thanks again, Greer... your kinda like the mother figure I've been missing these few years." Giving a goodnight and a wave, she vanished inside her duplex.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer blinked, just barely remembering to wave good bye. Her? A mother figure? Woah. Her feet turned her back to her duplex while her brain whirred. How the heck had that happened? She needed to talk to one of her boys.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya heaved out a sigh as she approached the cafeteria. Man... what a bummer these past few days have been. She frowned and approached the cafeteria door, pushing it open without even a glance around the tables as she grabbed herself a bottle of water and an apple, not really feeling much up to eating a lot today.

Colche
Colche smiled, people seemd to be coming out of the wood works today "amaya" she puurs, quieter this time, all thoughts of the beach dashed from her muddled mind, she stood, her bunny still held in her arms she wanderd over to pyroth with a grin on her pretty face. "colche fuzzy pyroth" she smiles, looking proud of herself, it was something that didn't bother her being all fuzzy "colche bunny" she shows him the rabbit which she held on to tightly and had long ago calmed enough that it no longer twitched and fidgeted though it did still breath rather swiftly. She looks in all directions naming the people she knew, the new person who wasn't fuzzy was awen, and Amaya wasn't fuzzy either but she liked the beach and pyroth was very fuzzy and nice " she wanders back over to Awen then sitting back at the table looking back hopefully at Pyroth to see if he was joining them. "Amaya" she speaks the liozard girls name again tilting her head curiously. this was the first contact she had had in days she wanted to see everyone and show them her bunny.

((py the order ish, me awen, you amaya okies ^-^!))

Awen Zyn
Awen was taken aback by the man's fangs and the seeded anger in his voice. She wasn't sure if that was meant to come out in his hello, but it seemed to to her. "Um. H-hello there." She smiled nervously to Pyroth. "Pyroth was it? Im...Awen Zyn, nice to meet you."

She glanced over to the other girl that walked in. She seemed to have some sort of skin condition... Maybe some cream would help her... She didn't seem to be in a good mood at all either.

She seemed to be pretty frazzled by everything that she had just learned this day. She sat back on her chair nervously looknig at everyone. She knew this place was supposed to be a mental therapy clinic, but she didn't really know how bad it all could be. She assumed the people would mostly be like her, knowing the problem and trying to solve it. But these people were either oblivious to their problems or just...looked so strange. MAybe it was a bad idea to come here. She wished she was back on mainland with her friends.

Pyroth Ignatius
"I'm Pyroth Ignatius." was Pyroth's short reply to Awen, his attention was suddenly divided between many things, firstly, Colche's very different appearance.

"They got you too?" he asked her with just a hint of chagrin. Colche didn't seem to mind, her transformation must have been relitively pleasant. He was glad of that much. "Yes, now Colche fuzzy." he affirmed with another smile. "We should get badges in this club I think."

His gaze next fell on Amaya, who was not fuzzy but very scaly. "Bad day?" he asked.

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl blinked and turned around upon hearing her name. Until now she haden't really noticed anyone else, having zoned out the past few days and keeping herself occupied with small tasks. She knew Colche and had met the man Pyroth breifly the night of that whole drinking party thing. The other girl she didn't know, but the thought that she might be new here didn't cross her mind. "Hello Colche. How are you doing?" Slowly she walked over, clawed toes clicking on the floor slightly.

Green gaze then fell on Pyroth and she gave a slight smile. "Yeah, more like bad week." Another sigh escaped her lips as she sat down across from Pyroth but close to Colche and the other girl whom she didn't know.

"By the way, my names Amaya." She smiled slightly and waved her long, clawed hand at the new girl.

Colche
Colche smiles looking overly proud of herself she lifts up the bunny that was happily resting in her arms "colche bunny" she nods lightly her big blue eyes happy to see faces she knew. She had almost become used to seeing people that wouldn't hurt her now that it was nice to se them all together. Licking her lips she goes back to coddling the bunny, now lots of people were here she could proudly show off her newest posession with bravo.

Awen Zyn
She looked curiously to Pyroth when he had asked Colche "They got you too?" What was that supposed to mean? Maybe he was one of thsoe conspiracy nuts. She opened her mouth to speak but was interupted as she saw Amaya approching.

Her jaw dropped at Amaya noiticing for the first time the clawed feet and hands. there were no longer any excuses, any denials, any coincedences. Somethingstrange was definately going on here. Or.. maybe she had just had a long day.

She tittered a little nervously and slowly started from her seat. "Nice to meet you Amaya, I'm Awen Zyn.... and I think I'm a little dillusional. I've.... had a rather long day. I think maybe I should go back to my room and lay down." She laughed a little. "You would probably think I'm crazy but it looks to me as though you have scales and claws. I mean I was making up excuses for the other two.. I mean some people are just..naturally hairy with bigger ears and teeth, it happens. And well Colche obviously was tattooed.... but you.... I can't really think of another explaination. It must be the long flight or the ...water that's making me just a little too paniced to this point. Sorry...I sound crazy..." And indeed she was rambling.

Pyroth Ignatius
((Eeep, gotta go, my bro wants a go of the net soon ^^))

Pyroth for the first time ever lost control to his instincts, letting out a low snarl, he felt the hair rise on his back where his hackles would be. It was a sound that was foreign to a human, like a buzzsaw, laced with menace and a bizzare blend of human and animal. He did /not/ have big ears. "Well, dear, our appearances are a result of something unpleasant going on on this island. I wouldn't sleep away your normality, the quicker time passes, the quicker you join us."

And with that, he got up and left the room, not wanting to get into another discussion about the possible horror of what he would become as time passed, he was already riled and didn't want Colche to see him get madder.

"Later."
Was his last comment as he left the cafeteria, into the daytime.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yes, Colche cute bunny." Amaya smiled and nodded, taking a drink out of her water bottle.

Oh s**t, this girl didn't know? Her eyes widdned and she stood up, clawed hand held out to Awen. "Wait! Your not delusional! Sit down, 'kay? And I'll tell you what's... really going on." She looked down at her feet and immediantly wished she hadn't.

Upon hearing the growl from Pyroth's general direction she froze up, watching him leave without a word. Poor guy...

Colche
Colche pouts slightly her hugs baby blue eyes went from amaya to awen, hearing pyroth growl, she cringed slightly holding tightly to the bunny in her arms "bad" she whisperd looking at Amaya, then back to the frightend Awen "Tattoo?" she tilted her head softly wondering what a tattoo was. She bites her tongue "brave like starfish" she said looking at Awen, it was the best thing she could think to say right now , she wanted Awen to be brave like the starfish. "awen brave like starfish" she smiles hopefully, anting everyone to calm down all thsi sudden movement made her twitchy.

Awen Zyn
She stared at Pyroth as he chewed her out. She didn't mean to.... she didn't want to make anyone... Wide eyed she sunk back down into her chair once he left. What was going on. None of this made any sense. She put her elbows on hte table and put her face in her hands trying despretly to hold back the tears of frustration and confusion and possible hysteria. Everything was pretty much blocked out until she heard Colche's all to innocent voice. "Awen brave like starfish."

Although the thought of starfish made Awen's skin crawl she looked up to Colche. A moment just looking at her with an unreadable look then a small smile drifted to her lips again. "Thanks..." She said softly.

Glancing back to Amaya she looked helplessly "I didn't mean to cause such a fuss... I... I just don't know what the heck is going on. I mean I come to the island, a friggin island to get rid of my hydrophobia, that took a lot right there. I flew for a good portion of the day over the ocean, that was just... crazy I almost had a heart attack. And now I get there and see...see... whatever happened to you all. What else am I supposed to think other than I'm going crazy? I didn't mean anything by it, I didn't want to get anyone upset...."

She looked again on the verge of tears. "I want to go home... I don't care about the therapy anymore. I just want to go home..." She slumped back down onto the table
.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya could taste the raven-haired girl's fear and winced at the sensation. Forcing herself to smile she walked over to Colche and patted her shoulder. "It's okay, Colche. Pyroth just got a little mad, that's all... okay?" She tried to sound encouraging, but seemed to be failing.

She frowned and took a seat next to Awen, a clawed hand on her shoulder and her food forgotten. "It's okay Awen but... what did they tell you about this island? Why did you come here?"

Colche
Colche smiled weakly. People seemed so upset around here. She gave a slight shver and rose from her place at the tabe. She picked up the bowl of cabbage sprigs and smiled "number seventeen" she said, clinging to her bunny she potterd off back to her duplex. She wonderd, should she ask aubrey about the bunny? Maybe, she would press the button, she would press the button and ask..maybe.

Awen Zyn
She watched Colche go. Seventeen...? She must mean Duplex seventeen.... Awen made a mental note of it. She looked back to Amaya.
She took a deep breath and spoke more slowly. "I'm afraid of water, in fact I have a phobia about it. I've been to a lot of therapists but nothing has worked. One of the doctors I went to said she heard about this island and Moreau's experimental techniques. She said I would have a chance at getting better here. If Moreau couldn't help she said forcing me to be surrounded by water would certainly help. I looked into it and Moreau said he had just the thing to rid me of my hydrophobia...."
She looked down at the table near tears again. She was wondering what she got herself into. She wondered if she would ever see Jon again...he was her best friend, he was the one that convinced her to come here. was it all just a big mistake...?

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl waved to Colche as she left, but quickly turned back to the rather upset Awen.

Amaya frowned and looked down, absently wondering if Moreau planned on turning the poor girl into a fish or something. That would just be... cruel. Green gaze traveled back up and she let out a shakey sigh. "Well... it's not a resort for therapy or anything 'cause Moreau... uhm..." She tried to find how to describe it without killing Awen mentally. "He reels people in with lies and he... uses them as guinea pigs to turn... into... animals." She winced at her own words and kept her head down.

Awen Zyn
Awen tried to make sense of this. "Turn them into animals!? But that isn't possible! How can he do that?" She seemed perplexed by this but resolved on denial. "It's not possible. Not Moreau. He wanted to help me. He told me he wanted to help me, that he would help me. He's such a nice man he wouldn't lie." She had one of those hysterical smiled on her face as she sat up straight and shook her head. "I get it... I get it." She gave a short laugh. "This is your way of heckling the newbie isn't it? Make them think they're even more insane than what can be helped. Honestly good job though... all that fake furr and scales. so realistic but obviously fake." She grinned a little. "Why didn't I figure it out before? Good prank though!"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya truely didn't know what to say and listened to her, unable to look up. She wondered how hard it must have been for Ambrose and Mr. Dude and Greer to tell everyone who came what was really going on. A few minutes after her rant was finished she looked up, meeting Awen's gaze with her own. Her expression was sad, hurt, and not all amused.

Awen Zyn
She saw the expression on Amaya's face and slowly sunk back to this new strange reality. "It's true isn't it?" She said rather flatly. She had so many questions but the look on the girls face just halted all of them. As hard as it was for her to cope with this... that girl was already on her way to being ..whatever it was with scales. And she was younger than Awen.
"I'm sorry Amaya..." She said quietly and put a hesitant hand on her shoulder. "I'm really sorry..."

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah... I'm sorry too." Her eyes went back down, clawed hands gripping the edge of her seat. "From what I know were gonna be stuck here forever and gradually be turned into animals... that's what the shot thing was for. The first one doesn't do anything but while your asleep he injects you again and... this... happens." She vaugly gestured to herself. "Everyone is turning into something different. I don't even know what I am anymore... just some sort of lizard or something."

Awen Zyn
Her hand slowly slipped from Amaya's shoulder. She was terrified oh what the doctor had in store for her. Maybe he was turning her into a fish. She shuddered at the thought. She tried to get her mind off of herself. She had been thinking too much of herself lately.
"Amaya.... what...what brought you to the island...?" She blurted it out without really thinking just needed the convorsation to go somewhere.

Awen Zyn
Awen nodded a little bit. This girl was an orphan too? Awen's heart sank, Moreau really did prey on the weaker end of society didn't he...?
"My...parents died when I was young too. I... know what it's like to be without parents. if I were you I probably would have done the same thing."

Amaya Vaughan
"... I'm sorry." She looked at her food, now not really hungry at all. "Mine died in a car accident."

Awen Zyn
Awen returned the apology before trying to change the subject. This meeting was all too gloomy as it is "Say..you like video games at all Amaya?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Huh?" Amaya looked back up, rather surprised but grateful for the subject change nonetheless. "Yeah, why?"

Awen Zyn
She grinned a little bit. "I talked the Doc into letting me bring a little entertainment to the island. I got a Game Cube and a PS2 set up in my Duplex." She tilted her head out the door. "I mean what else was a nut job like me going to do on my downtime? I've got a bunch of games and figured you might wanna play."

Amaya Vaughan
"Ooo, really?" Amaya immediantly lightened up. "That's cool, what kind of games do you have?"

Awen Zyn
Awen began to feel a little bit better, at least she was having a normal convorsation. She leaned back in her chair casually.
"Eehh... I've for a bunch of Final Fantasy games, Dark cloud a bunch of RPGs... but as far as two player goes I've got Super monkey Ball, Mario party 6, mario baseball Super Smash Bros Melee.... soul calibur 2.... uh.. and others?" SHe couldn't quite remember what she had packed with ehr on the trip..

Amaya Vaughan
"I've played Super Smash Brothers Melee and Soul Calibur 2 before." She grinned from ear to ear, her pointed teeth evident.

Awen Zyn
Still kind of taken abck by the pointed teeth but she hid it relatively well this time. She just smiled. "Well then you should drop by sometime and I can kick yer butt huh?"

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya gave a small laugh and nodded. "I'm in duplex 20, which one are you in?" She was begining to get rather cold and stood up, grabbing both her apple and water bottle.

Awen Zyn
"Duplex twenty one." She stood up when Amaya did. Her stomach started to grumble when she realised she hadn't eaten since before the flight hours ago. "Hm.." She looked down to her stomach then back up to Amaya. "Um, I'm assuming if we're hungry we can just..um grab the food from here right? Free I would like to assume?" Her stomach growled again quite loudly this time.

Amaya Vaughan
The young girl nodded. "You can grab any food from here and..." She trailed off, looking around. "Theirs an entertainment center outside somewhere, I haven't gone to it yet. I need to head off though, I don't do so well in the air conditioning anymore." Giving a forced laugh she headed for the door, saying goodbyes and giving a wave to Awen. "Take care!"

1st Fencing Lesson with Ambrose

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya let out a long sigh, eyelids sagging behind the large orange visor she wore. She lay on a towel at the beach, allowing the sun to warm her scales. Normally she would never do this but the need to be in the light and get warm was overwhelming and day by day, getting harder to control on her own.

Today was the first day she had given up her modesty to actually bask in the sun and not in the privacy of her room.

And... it wasn't that bad, really. After awhile of being alone she completely forgot the horrendously SKIMPY clothing she wore. God, were they skimpy. Like a whore working on the corner or something... Well, in her eyes anyway.

BUT for the moment everything was good and almost normal and she closed her eyes to let the bright afternoon sun warm her.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose was feeling much better for once after a morning of soul-searching. He had a plan of approach. He could deal with what was happening to him and around him. For today at the very least. He could put off the burden of thinking about the possible repercussions, and tell himself that there was still hope.

He had eaten a filling meal of ham, bacon and eggs, and a crossant, and had returned to his room briefly to get his fencing gear. After all, if he had hope and might someday return - he wanted to keep himself in practice.

And, then, he headed towards what had become his favorite spot - the beach, overlooking the ocean - the warm sand under his toes, just close enough to the jungle to give shade - but the breeze coming off the ocean still hitting him as well. And that didn't even touch on the gorgeous scenery. This was the kind of thing people paid to see, quite literally.

Appraching his normal spot, he saw a familiar figure out tanning - young Amaya. He smiled. He liked the girl - she was grounded despite her age, and friendly all the same. He felt protective of her, and really was starting to see her as a little sibling he never had.

"Amaya!" He called out with a smile and a wave. He usually didn't see her outside of her long skirt and turtleneck despite the heat on the island, and he was glad to see her enjoying the beach.

Amaya Vaughan
Ambrose? She leaned her head back and smiled, hand going up to wave just as her modesty devil gave a quick slap to the side of her brain.

LOOK WHAT YOUR WEARING!

All of a suddened large green eyes widdened and she squealed, grabbing the towel from beneath her and wrapping it around her form as she bolted upright. She wasn't EMBARESSED or anything just... scared? Amaya couldn't find a word to describe it and never had been able to since she developed the strange phobia after her parents had passed away.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose paused, immediately looking awkard. What was wrong? She was acting as if he had seen her nude.

He turned around out of politeness, but was primarily confused - especially in retrospect to Colche parading about blithely wearing nothing more than her own skin.

"Uhm... I... I'm sorry? IS... something wrong?" Maybe there was a tear on her clothes in an embarrasing spot?

"I didn't mean to bother you - I, ah, had just come out to work on some footwork."

Amaya Vaughan
"No! No no... I uh..." Amaya let the towel drape on her shoulders and pulled her legs to her chest, wrapping it around them. "I just have a... uh... modesty... issue..." She looked down, embarassed by her reaction and let her long toes sink underneath the sand so she didn't have to stare at them.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose slowly glanced back towards here, starting just with the periphery vision out of the corner of his eye.

"Ohh." He said softly. "You have nothing to be embarrased about, Amaya.... and you're wearing a lot more than many girls would to the beach." He smiled softly, glancing quickly at her short and cutoff t-shirt. Hell, he had seen girls in school wear less than that. Not to even get into cheerleaders.

Amaya Vaughan
"Yeah, I know." She frowned and wrapped the long beach towel around her chest, tucking it in to help cover her more before turning around to face him. "It's a stupid fear... phobia... thing I've had for awhile." Her shoulders gave a small shrug and she stood up, finally spotting the fencing gear he carried. Amaya's brow furrowed and she looked at it for awhile before finally giving up on figureing out what it was on her own. "Hey, what's that?"

Ambrose Maurlias
He shrugged, smiling supportively. "I'm sorry about that... at least you do... understand ... it's irrational, right? There isn't anything you should be ashamed of. Though I am sorry that I startled you."

He looked over to where she gestured and his face brightened. "That?" He smiled widely. "That's my fencing gear. Do... you know anything about fencing?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Of course, I know it's ridiculous... I just can't get myself to think any other way." Amaya laughed nervously and approached him.

"Fencing? Uh... aside from the metal face mask thing and the Zorro footwork, no. Your a fencer?" She looked up at him, eyes full of surprise and curiosity. She'd never met someone who fenced before...

Ambrose Maurlias
His grin widened. "Well, you're on the right track at least" He said, walking over and picking up the equipment to bring over to her - showing her the mask and the epee.

"I do Olympic-style epee fencing." He emphasized in his mind the "do" instead of "did."

"It's a wonderful sport. Focuses on agility and precision instead of brute strength. Quick mind and quick movements. Have you ever done anything like martial arts.. or something like that?"

Amaya Vaughan
"Nope!" She grinned, showing her sharp teeth. "Been a lazy do-nothing bum my whole life." A small laugh escaped her and it seemed like she was starting to forget about her clothing once more. "I'm always up to try, though." This was pretty interesting and definatly something to pass the time. She'd be a fool to turn something like this down.

Ambrose Maurlias
He smiled and dismissed the claim to laziness. "Well, I'd say it's similar in mindset. IT's great - really helps your self-confidence to be able to stand up to someone - even in verbal situations. And of course it's great physically, and a wonderful stress relief."

He picked up the extra epee, handing it to her handle first and exalted in the possible chance to teach someone! To have someone new to practice with.

"Would you like to learn? I'd love to teach people. I miss having more people to spar with, and it's a fantastic sport."

Amaya Vaughan
"Sure! I don't mind picking up anything new to take up some time around here." Amaya blinked and took the epee. She wiggled it and poked the blade, inpecting it all over since she had never seen one before. Oddly enough it wasn't sharp like she had thought and actually bent under pressure. How odd...

Ambrose Maurlias
He beamed.

"Awesome! I'd be happy to show you!" He gestured to the epee. "Feel free to take a look at it. You probably won't hurt it. And you can see, it's got a blunt tip so it won't do any serious damage. You might pick up a few bruises if your opponent gets a bit overenthusiastic, but... nothing serious. You wear the mask to protect your eyes, and just in case the blade breaks - the same reason you wear the vest."

"It's pretty safe, but like any sport, there are always extenuating situations you could get hurt - like the blade breaking at a bad time - it can be sharp then... or tripping and hurting yourself and the like. Sound like something you'd be up for?"
He wanted to make any possible risk obvious up front - it was pretty safe, but he had come home with bruises plenty of times - and serious competitions almost always resulted in bruising. Contendors didn't go easy on opponents. But this wasn't like that.... Damn he missed competitions.

((And class just finished smile - I'll respond again when I get home))

Amaya Vaughan
"Of course! Bruises are nothing new to me. When you live in the boonies of Amish Land their seriously nothing to complain about." She smiled, the thought of being back home getting her homesick but happy at the same time. "So uh... what do you do exactly? I've seen Zorro but... I highly doubt that's what really goes on." Amaya raised a brow and looked up at him.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose smiled. "Glad to hear it!"

Good! She wasn't afraid of the potential of bruises, and his respect went up a couple of notches.

"Well, as far as what you do - it's based after rapier fighting like you saw in Zorro. But, as it is a sport now, there are restrictions. Primarily..." He picked up the other epee and mask. "Protective measures. Like I said - they don't want lawsuits or anything, so you fight with blunted blades and wear protection. You learn maneuvers - parries, thrusts, ripostes, lunges - much like they would have actually used for rapier duels way back when, though. And with a live blade - one that still has a sharp tip - you would probably be able to do some damage to someone. SO its kind of fun as you can picture yourself as a swashbuckler." He gave a bit of a self-conscious grin.

"But there are more differences. For example, your "arena" is a thin strip called a "piste" - it makes sure you always face your opponent and you can't circle around them. You also always compete one-on-one. And you never use your off-hand." Ambrose took the classic fencing pose, waving his left hand a bit in the air to draw attention to it. "You keep this hand back and out of the way - so you can't use it to block the other person's rapier. That's another difference between modern olympic fencing and actual rapierfighting. They would sometimes have a dagger in that hand, a mailed glove, or even a second rapier."

He gestured back to his blade. "And I practice epee fencing. There are three types: epee, foil, and sabre. Epee is my favorite because it's the style that has the widest area of target - and in that sense is more accurate to actual rapier fighting as there are no areas of the body that are out of bounds. Foil fencing uses a similar blade, but the only valid target areas is the torso. Sabre fencing you can use the whole blade of the sword instead of just the tip, as it is supposed to mimic a real sabre that has an edge, but you can only hit you opponent on the body from the waist-up."

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya listened in silence, the epee she was holding still pointing skyward in her grasp as she wiggled it slightly as she listened. Huh... this was a pretty cool sounding sport. Too bad there was never anything like this where she lived aside from the occasional horshoes or cow-tipping which... weren't really sports at all. More like pastimes for extremely bored teenagers and small children.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose's day was certainly looking up - between his decision to stay positive and have hope unless he did infact change again, and being able to not only chat about fencing, but really go off one it with Amaya really put him in his element. Scales and fur was the last thing on his mind.

"So!" He concluded after the basic run down. "Any particular questions?" He grinned.

Amaya Vaughan
"Hmmm..." Amaya thought for a moment, letting the epee fall to her side. "Not really, no." She smiled up at him, also forgetting about her modesty... for the moment.

Ambrose Maurlias
He nodded with a smile.

"Well, wonderful!" He offered her a hand up.

"Before you ever touch the blade, though, you need to lean some footwork."

He dropped back into the fencing stance to show her, drawing attention to the distance apart and width of his feet, and where he kept his weight on the balls of his feet.

"And of course- if you can think of anyone else who would want to learn, we can get a group going." He thought back to Greer's suggestion about teaching fencing. "We'd have to petition Moreau for some more equipment... but he can afford it." he gave a wry smirk.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya took the offered hand and set the epee down before hesitently undoing the towel and setting it aside. She'd have to get over he fear SOMETIME... plus, it would probably just get in the way. Green eyes watched his feet then she took up the same stance on the tips of her toes, much like how she walked. A frown passed over her features as she forced herself to put her entire foot on the ground. She always found it so awkward standing on the whole of her feet.

Ambrose Maurlias
In Ambrose's defense, he didn't look twice as she took off her towel. Aside from correcting her stance a little bit.

"That's it. Now put your weight on the balls of your foot - like how you like walking" He smiled. "Don't lift your heel completely off the ground - there we go.."

He had her adjust her stance correctly, then stand normally and drop back into the stance a few times to try to ingrain it in her muscle-memory.

Amaya Vaughan
"Okay..." Amaya followed everything he instructed her to do, sometimes finding herself going on the balls of her feet again but quickly forcing her heels back onto the sand. She didn't realize how second nature walking on her tiptoes had become until now.

Ambrose Maurlias
He nodded approvingly. "Staying on the balls of your feet isn't too bad in this, actually - it's where your weight remains during the match regardless. But with movement, sometimes you can move quicker by moving in a heel-to-toe way with your front foot. Your back foot stays mostly on the ball the entire time." Ambrose refused to think about the changing applications of stance with a changing foot or posture. Things weren't going to get any worse.

One Amaya had the stance down, he worked with her a bit on how to move forward and backwards in the stance. Once again, first demonstrating and then guiding her through it, making corrections where she needed, but also metering it out with encouragement. He seemed to be both enthusiastic and patient at the same time.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya nodded and kept silent for the majority of the time, only saying small things like "okay" and "alright" as she learned. She was one of those quiet, obidient students that normally were never seen above the crowd but sometimes had the most potential. Ambrose was a good teacher too, the lack of being yelled at or being called stupid was a definate plus.

Ambrose Maurlias
He kept up the drills for about ten or twenty minutes, finishing with standing across from her and taking up a stance as well.

"Now, when I advance, I want you to retreat - keeping the footwork I just taught you. And when I retreat, you advance. Got it?" He said with a smile, knowing that the interactive part like this would be much more interesting.

He kept things pretty basic at first, one step forward, one step back, two forward, one back, and then started playing with it a bit, advancing more quickly, or about five or six steps in one direction before changing directions, and then just keeping up the movement pretty constantly.

Once again, he was encouraging her, laughing good-naturedly with some of his tricks - making a game out of it with a "gotcha" here and there. Or, when she kept up with him, a "aha - you're too quick for that, huh?"

Amaya Vaughan
At first her footwork was slow, eyes on Ambrose then on her feet as she slowly retreated and advanced. After awhile she began to get a hang of it, though at times she would find herself going on the balls of her feet again and would force her heels back down. Amaya laughed as he taught her, the worries from the past few days slipping away like they had never even been there.

Ambrose Maurlias
He reminded her a few times to keep her eyes on his, but overall, he was very supportive. And enjoying himself as well. There were few things that Ambrose could truly just be himself and enjoy himself.

He worked with her for another good ten or fifteen minutes before clapping her on the shoulder with a smile. "I think that's good for today, don't you? You're making some great headway! Keep practicing your footwork and next time we'll go over it again and actually get to the epee." He winked.

And another one on the side of the epees. He mentally grinned imagining a scorecard against Greer. Though she could teach her sabre as well if she liked. They could get a whole competition thing going on maybe.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya smiled and nodded, picking up her towel. Her scales seemed to go mostly down her back, working there way around onto her arms and face... it was another reason why she wore rather hefty amounts of clothing. After drapping the towel on her shoulders she grinned up at him. "That was fun. I can't wait to start learning with the epee." The grin was genuine, something that seemed to appear less and less recently.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose swelled with pride and confidence. "That's awesome, Amaya! I am really looking forward to showing you! I'm glad you're so enthusiastic about it!"

Not only did he have a surrogate little sister, but she liked fencing! He was on cloud nine.

He gave her scales a quick look over - they actually did look pretty neat on her. He wouldn't trade her, given, especially with what little he knew of lizards and snakes versus what he knew and liked about wolves - but it was cute.

"You're off to a great start, too!" And he looked sincere. She was taking the lessons seriously, and was honestly enthusiastic. That was the best combination he could ask for - even in place of natural talent. "And don't hesitate to track me down and demand lessons whenever you want" he winked. "And we should see about getting you a set of gear custom-fit courtesy of Moureau's bank account" He grinned. "I'm sure he will."

"Anyway! I'll see you around, Amaya!" He waved, and set off back towards the village.

Amaya Vaughan
Amaya gave a small laugh and nodded. "I'll be sure to track you down and maybe I might get enough courage to actually ask Moreau sometime." She was openly honest about her fear of the doctor, why wouldn't she be? Most of the people on the island hated him or feared him anyway... her feelings of him were a mix of both.

"Bye Ambrose, thanks for the lessons!" The young girl waved as he walked off in the opposite direction. She would pay her respects to her parents for the day and then head off to grab a bite to eat.

Amaya let out a loud yawn, closing her duplex door behind her and locking it. Today was a pretty good day compared to the few previous. She had gotten the courage up to go... bask on the beach and had even gotten her first fencing lesson! A smile spread across her features and she threw the towel she had used at the beach in her hamper before sitting down to write in her journal.

Quote:
Dear Bob,

Sorry about not writing for a while, I just haven't been really motivated to do anything these past few days. To recap, I got to hang out with the girl Colche s'more. We went to the beach and she found a pretty seashell... all I managed to find was a rather angry crab. I got away unscathed though and after awhile I walked her back to her duplex. She really is a sweet girl, though a little older then me I think she seems like a little sister. I haven't seen her in a day or two... maybe I should go check up on her to make sure everything is all right. Maybe I can get her to the pond and teach her how to swim? She certainly doesn't seem afraid of the water at all.

I also ran into Cassidy at the cafeteria and talked to her a bit more. It seems like were the only two turning into reptiles... but I guess I'm kind of glad I am so she doesn't have to go through this alone. She likes to read Sci-Fi books and actually we got talking about our... tongues of all things. Where as she can smell with her tongue I can... taste emotions. It's such a weird sensation I haven't told anyone about it besides her since she can relate, not even Hargun or Ambrose for fear they might think it... really weird. I haven't really experimented with the whole 'tasting emotions' thing just because it's so danm weird. I don't think I will either until I get more... used to it. I've gradually been doing it more even though I know I shouldn't cave in to the curious urge to actually see how far the ability goes. As of right now I only pick up the strongest, basic emotions... like fear and happiness and stuff. Beyond that I don't really wanna deep into it. It feels like I'm somehow eavesdropping into their feelings and stuff... like they can't feel for themselves without me knowing.

Anyway, enough of that. You might've guess that a few days ago was... the anniversary of my parent's death. Most of the day I just spent it hanging around and keeping my mind occupied so I didn't think of the inevitable. But as you know, I always end up drifting back to the subject anyway. I realized that I could no longer visit their graves, which... is so awful I don't even want to think about it. Despite how horrible I felt I managed to pry myself from my room and go out to the beach. I set up three pieces of driftwood and set them in place with a few rocks. One was for dad, one for mom, and the other for grandma. Greer ended up stumbling into me and I cried a little more, but I'm glad she was there. She comforted me a bit and I couldn't be more grateful. Oddly enough she seems really... motherly. I dunno why, maybe it's just how she's always there when I happen to be upset and knows what to do to keep me from crying all night. As selfish as this might sound, I'm glad she's here.

My birthday was pretty uneventful, as always. So far I haven't told a soul about it and maybe I should keep it that way... I dunno... Either way, I reached sweet 16. Wahoo, some birthday this turned out to be, eh?

I bumped into Colche, a man I only briefly met named Pyroth, and a new girl named Awen the other day at the cafeteria. Colche had a baby bunny which... uh... I should REALLY check on. I hope she didn't... eat it or anything... She does seem to be turning into a feline and everything after all. I didn't get to talk to Pyroth much, he got rather angry after Awen started to babble about how odd we all looked. I can't blame him for it and I bet under all that he's a really nice guy. I also had to break the horrible news to Awen and I don't think it went very well... I'm horrible at breaking bad news. It turns out that she's an orphan too and likes videogames, which is cool. I need to head over to her duplex and play sometime.

And so we work everything up to today. I got enough courage up to actually... bask on the beach today. Gradually it seems like the need to rest in the sun is harder and harder to deny. I really don't like giving in to the whole cold-blooded thing, but then again if I don't I end up feeling anemic... which doesn't feel very good. Surprisingly I bumped into Ambrose... or he bumped into me, I dunno. Even though I felt ridiculously NAKED I got over it and I actually found out he fences! How neat... he even gave me my first epee lesson! It seems like a pretty neat sport and something to keep my mind occupied while I'm stuck here. He's one awesome teacher too and I can't wait to learn more. It keeps me from feeling like the stupid little girl without a high school diploma.

All in all, things seem to be actually looking up. I think I'mma take a bath, hop in my PJ's then grab a bite to eat back here while working on making new socks... I really need new socks.

Closing her journal she locked it and tossed it to the side. Amaya started a nice hot bubble bath, something she really needed. As she bathed she realized that despite being a little hot, she hadn't sweat at all while Ambrose gave her lesson. Her mind started to wander about the side effects of being cold-blooded. She didn't seem to be able to shiver anymore aside from the whole creeped out feeling or sweat. Would she have to pant like a dog? Did lizards pant? Oh god, that'd be horrible to have to do in public.

Shaking her head free of those thoughts she got out of the bathtub and put on her PJ's before heading to the cafeteria to grab a bottle of water and a salad to go. Amaya also wandered around the outside until she found the entertainment room. Upon seeing the Xbox she went EXTATIC and resisted the urge to look around for Halo and sit and play it right there. Green eyes also spotted the large bookshelf and with dread they feel onto a book about large lizards. For a long moment she could only stare at the rim as her stomach seized up in knots. Hesitantly she reached for it but at the last minute pulled her clawed hand away and quickly made her way back to her room. No. Not yet. She didn't want to know yet.

Upon getting back to her duplex she ate her salad and finished her water, then worked on her rather torn rainbow socks to help salvage them. After all that was finished she basked for a few minutes like she normally did before finally turning off the heat light and going to bed.
