Adrian turned back around. "I was joking, but whatever. I'm sure there are people who want me dead. How am I supposed to know that no one you live with are among those people?" The rat looked at Carlos. "You still want me to come to your house? You still want to show me what the hell you and Jimi were talking about?"
((Yes, they are!))

"Oh." Carlos relaxed a little. It was so difficult to tell when Adrian was being serious, unless he was just plain angry. "Of course I do! I want you to believe me..."
(( And I want him to see people step out of nowhere. 8D ))

Adrian sighed and kissed the top of Carlos' head. "I want to believe you as well. At least I know how far I can take a joke with you now," He smirked. "How far is your place, anyways?"
((XD Fun!))

The unicat wrapped his arms around the rat and rested his head against his chest. Carlos had a feeling it would be quite a bit easier to figure him out than it would be for him to figure out Adrian. "Um... it's a couple miles..."
(( He was winded for a reason. XD! ))

Adrian nodded. "Then we better get moving. We don't want to take all day to get there." He pulled away and started heading in the direction they were heading before.

(( xD! ))
"Mrrh..." Carlos hurried to catch up to Adrian. It took them a little while to get there, it always takes much longer to walk than to run of course. Carlos pointed it out to Adrian after he guided them down a side street and onto his street.
The house was one of many and did not seem to stick out, other than that it was busy. Every house had a nice, raised yard and trees, in fact the whole street was lined with trees, partially shading everything. At first glance the house was normal, and a careful optical illusion added to the facade of normalcy. The house disappeared? No, not apparently... Like anyone here was going to allow casual observers to know that they were stealing space.
As they climbed the walkway up to the front yard, subtle details became more noticeable. There were, in fact, heavy posts positioned at strategic points that leaned and... disappeared.
"Oh, look! The garage is open." Carlos jumped happily. Maybe now he could show Adrian his car. Maybe in a couple of days he could learn to drive it.
A disembodied head seemed to appear out of nowhere as Mel poked his head outside the pocket where he and several anthros were working on the sides. "Oh! Hey, Carlos." The demon-dragon waved, arm seeming to appear similarly to his head (and attached to nothing). He hopped out, parts of his body appearing as if he had just materialized out of the shadows. But that was silly, of course.
The dragon jogged up to them with a toothy, fanged grin. Coming to a stop he adjusted his glasses and brushed some sweaty black ringlets from his face. "Ooh, is this your beau? Niiice... I love the hair, man. Listen, Carlos. Don't close the garage door, whatever you do. Don't try to move your car either." He pointed to the garage as he rambled. "See the posts? I know, right, they're completely in the way. If you do either of those things the whole house will collapse again. Major drag, I know, but it'll be fixed soon, I promise. All right. Gotta go. Nice to meet you!"
Carlos sighed as the other anthro disappeared back whence he came. Well so much for that. "Um, that was Mel, she - er, he - runs this place. He used to be a human lady but... well, it's a long story. He's really nice and smart, just ... strange. Heh."
From the other side of the house came a couple of anthros carrying long pieces of lumber between them. One was easily recognizable as the striped uni, Jimi, Carlos' father. The other was a coon who looked like he had just hitchhiked his way off the freeway. They nodded their hello's as they walked by and Carlos waved.
"That's my dad's friend Horea, they go way back. He's one of the two I told you about who just moved in a couple of days ago."
As they watched, the coon smirked and muttered something unmentionable to Jimi, clearly indicating Adrian with a clawed thumb.
Jimi dropped his end, the wood falling to the ground with a loud slap. Without any other warning he punched the coon in the face knocking him on his butt, the coon's end landing on him with a similar sound. "Shut the ******** up, a*****e. I'm already getting sick of your mouth."
The coon snickered and got back to his feet, dusting off his already dirty jeans. "Bring it on, dickhead."
Carlos watched with a raised brow as they picked the lumber back up and disappeared behind the house. "So far, that's the third time I've seen them do that. Mel's been talking about building a bar just so they can trash it, instead of the rest of the house." Carlos grimaced and looked up at Adrian. "So, um... wanna see my car?"

Adrian looked around at the place where Carlos lead him. 'Wow, he wasn't lying,' he thought. He continued looking at everything around him, wondering how the posts and stuff disappear a points. The rat looked over at the garage; he could sort of see the mustang in there.
Adrian moved into an attack position when Mel popped out of nowhere. Usually when someone came out of nowhere around the rat, it was to jump him. He glared at the demon-dragon and growled slightly. "He's the one who made your house like this?" he asked.
Adrian waved to Jimi when the unicorn when they passed. "He's one of the guys who don't have a room yet, right?" The rat smirked as he watched Jimi punch the coon for something, reminded again why he didn't mind the unicorn. "I wonder what that coon said to your dad." He continued smirking when Carlos mention that that had happened more than once already.
He nodded. "Sure, I'd like to see the car." He wanted to see his boyfriend's hard work. The rat was curious as to how well Carlos put together the car, and to see the car in all it's glory.

Carlos found himself putting light restraining arm across Adrian's belly when the rat moved into a defensive position. "Yes... it's been like this as long as I can remember, but he - she at the time - has a big heart and couldn't turn anyone away. But she couldn't afford to keep building - taxes or something - so she got together with a couple of other guys to fix the problem. They're working on a way to make the supports stronger. Apparently there was a flaw they had missed before but are fixing now. I don't understand all that stuff... it's all math and magic or something."
"Yeah, Horea is staying with Dad," he chuckled, "sleeping on the floor. And Lev (you haven't seen him yet) is in a guest room. I guess I forgot to mention that before." Carlos tilted his head. "I'm sure it wasn't something nice, whatever it was. He likes to egg people on. You could probably ask my dad later if you want..."
The unicat nodded and grinned, starting off for the garage. He paused to inspect one of the posts. As they passed a certain point, the part that had been "missing" or "disappeared" became visible, as if there was an invisible cloak over everything, though light folded with the rest of the space, casting no shadows.
"Here it is." There were other cars as well, the garage and doors stretching far off into the pocket. "Normally if you were to drive one of those other cars out, they would all fit onto the same driveway, even though it's so narrow. That's just the way this place works."
He slid his hand over the surface of the car. It was dusty from all the construction, but the color beneath was still apparent, a silvery turquoise color, depending on the way the light hit it. It was also apparent that he had been trying to keep it clean despite the atmosphere. The tires were shiny-black and filled with air. The inside was impeccable, with upholstery as close to the original as possible and protected by seat covers. The smell... was a combination of leather, metal, and oil. Jimi had forbidden Carlos from using the air freshener he wanted, which smelled to him like berries and cotton candy. In short, this car was ready to hit the road.
(( That color is the color my mom used to have. At certain times of the day it was silver, others it was teal. Same make as what Carlos has. So cool. so unoriginal of me... e_e <3 ))

"This must be a pretty interesting place to live. I wonder how it's put together." He smirked at Carlos. "You don't understand math? Here I was thinking you were smart." The rat gave his boyfriend a playful shove.
"I guess that's why your dad is friends with him then. Assholes attract assholes. And I think I will ask Jimi what that coon said later, when he's not doing something."
Adrian walked around the car, looking at it. It was really well put together; Carlos did a great job on it. The inside of the car looked comfortable enough. He was curious as to how the car felt. What caught his eye the most, was the color. "Interesting color, did you pick it out and paint it?" he asked the unicat.

Carlos stuck his tongue out at the rat's little comments. It made the unicat happy to hear Adrian cracking jokes. It was a new and welcome development despite the sarcasm, but he did not mention it for fear of ruining the mood.
"Dad might be by later, now that he knows we're here. He knows I wanted to show my car to you." He peeked over the car at the rat as he inspected the car. It was obvious to him that the rat liked what he saw. "Wanna look inside? The doors are unlocked. We tried to use a color close to the original. It was difficult to match though because of its strange effect."

"I'll ask him when he stops by then." The rat really wanted to know what Horea had said, since the coon had pointed at him when he said it.
Adrian was glad, but didn't show it, that Carlos seemed to be understanding him more and more. "Sure." The rat opened the car door and slipped into the seat. 'It is comfortable. I wouldn't mind going for a ride in this with Carlos,' he thought. "It's a good color. It fits you."

Carlos grinned and hopped into the driver's seat, half-purring. He leaned with his forearms on the steering wheel and gripping it with a little squeeze. "You think so? I thought it might be too much blue..." he said with a little laugh, "but I do like it."

"Nah, it fits you." Adrian watched his boyfriend messing with the stirring wheel. "You really can't wait to drive this, can you?" he asked. 'Maybe I'll have to keep his mind away from the car until he can drive it,' he thought, smirking.

"Hmm, okay." Carlos was still grinning of course, and would have been pleased with it regardless of what Adrian might have said. "Well, yeah... I know I'll be terrible at first but I still can't wait." Carlos consciously leaned back into the seat and away from the wheel, to prevent himself from accidentally honking the horn.

"I thought as much." Adrian leaned over and kissed Carlos. "Then I will just have to keep you busy so time passes quicker, won't I?" he asked, smirking again. "I'm sure you will get to drive soon."
