"I'll bring by a book sometime that will teach you about the berries of the Pokémon world. Some of them look pretty wild!" Kavrin smiled when Aurora held up the berry, opening his mouth to let Aurora pop it in his mouth, gathering up another berry to return the favor.

When Kavrin opened his mouth, Aurora slid the berry into his mouth. She grinned in delight and opened her mouth when Kavrin went to return the favor. Little fireflies made of blue flames sprang to life around them and glowed brightly to mimic Aurora's happiness.

Kavrin popped the berry in her mouth, then noticed the familiar blue flames. He reached out to touch one, hoping that maybe this time Aurora would be able to notice it.

Aurora watched as Kavrin reached up to touch something. At first glance it looked like a firefly, but then she realized it was made out of fire. Upon her realization, the flames quickly fizzled out. "Did you do that Kavrin?"

Kavrin shook his head. "Nope. You did." He wondered if she would believe him, or if she would be in denial.

"Me?" Aurora blinked and looked up at where the flames used to be, her mind trying to wrap around what Kavrin had said. That couldn't be right, Artie was the one with the fire powers, not her. But, Kavrin would never lie to her. She closed her eyes and tried to will the flames to appear again, but when she peeked open her eyes again there was nothing. Not even a fizzle.

Kavrin nodded. "Yeah, you." He watched as she tried to create flames, the effort ending in failure. He thought for a moment, then said, "Maybe you're trying too hard. When you made them you were calm, thinking about other things."

Aurora frowned and looked around. "Other things, other things...I can't do it now. I keep thinking about the flames."
She pouted like a child and looked over at Kavrin again. "How do you do it?"

"Me? Hmmmm....how to explain it...?" He didn't know where to begin. To a houndour, learning how to breath fire was a solitary task to be learned on one's own. Yet it was probably easier for a houndour to breath fire than it would be for a namir. "Basically I breath in deeply, concentrate hard on the image of fire, and breath out. That's how I learned anyway. It was an odd balance though...don't concentrate enough and you wind up with hot air. Concentrate too much and you wind up choking on smoke."

Aurora tried doing as Kavin said, she breathed in deeply and focused her mind on fire. When she breathed out, she got nothing. She frowned in disappointment. "Maybe my powers aren't like yours?"

"Maybe. You seem to have more control over your fire than I do. When I breath fire I really can't do anything else with it. Or at least nothing I'm aware of." That was the main difference between the fire powers of Kavrin and Aurora in Kavrin's eyes, aside from the difference in intensity which really couldn't be helped.

"Maybe when I get back I should ask my Dad about it. I think he said the fire powers come from my Grandpa..." Aurora's tail started swishing back and forth. "If I learn to control my power, we can do firey stuff together. Like roasting marshmallows!"
She grinned.

"That would be fun! And since you can manipulate your fire, you can make shapes out of them and I can guess what they are," Kavrin happily replied, excited at the prospect of a new game that wouldn't have been possible where he came from.

"Pictionary? I don't think I've played that. Well if it's like the game I thought of then it would be fun too." Kavrin wondered how long it would be before Aurora mastered her fire powers. If they were anything like flamethrower it would be a while before she truly got the hang of it. Still, he figured that since the powers were different it would probably be a bit easier to use. No need to worry about strength for Aurora. "So shall we go exploring some more?"
