Ok question....when it says it should easily turn when it's in there....does it really need to be able to turn easily? I just can't get it to turn. And how far is too far or not far enough?
Edit:
Ugh! I think I need to upgrade to the next size. Every time I put it back in it rides up kind of far in there, so it's been leaking. I've got 1 1/2 years before I'm 30...so I guess I should've gotten size 2. I'm pretty sure I can't exchange it either. Oh well, still will save money in the long run xp

And when it says turn, not turn 360 degrees, but just to where it wont leak. So stick it in, and turn about half a circle. Trust me, the first time i did that thing, i was sitting on the lavatory thinking... ' Oh my gosh i will never get this thing in, what am i going to do? Oh my gosh...'

IF it's a divacup you should have a certain amount of time in which you can return it. check the website.

Well I got the size 2 one and I feel better using that one. Still trying to get used to it, but now I'm just having problems with it traveling up and up and....up. I am determined to make it work!
Divacup.com doesn't take returns and I highly doubt the store does either since it's a personal hygiene product that you put inside your body.....although maybe I'll give them a call. But I'm ok with losing that money if in the end it all works out.

That thread link was really cool. I was totally amazed with the size comparisons. I certainly didn't think a tampon would be the same length as a cup. Very handy thread. :3

Hey all. I know this thread is pretty old but I'm new and I use a cup too! I've had it for four years. That means I saved about $900.00 so far just from not buying two boxes of Tampax Pearl each month. Mine is a Lunette which comes from Finland but right now you can't get them in the States. I guess Divacup is just as good though, just sized a little differently. Here's a great site for discussing the issues people may have with the cups. I was really lucky and never had any trouble from day one. I just popped it in and it was perfect.

Okay so I tried the cup for the first time last week! xd
Day one was a lil...well I was extremely paranoid about not having it in properly. The girl who sold it to me, said I should hear it pop open, which I didn't, and that I should be able to grab the stem and turn it 180 easily, which I couldn't. Not just by the stem anyway. I kind of got a grip of the whole bottom part and spun it. I used back up, just in case, while I get used to it, and headed off to work. I biked to work, and my job then was fairly physical (so is my job now lol, I like jobs where I can move around xd ) Anywho, no leaks, didn't feel a thing.
Putting it is is fairly awkward for me. A tampon I can do standing up in a second, this I have to kind of squat down, and play around with it, hoping it's in right. Wondering if it's too hight etc.
The second day is my heavy day. I think my main problem may have been that I wasn't emptying it as often as possible. On this day I would normally use the biggest tampon you can get and be good for maybe 4 hours. I think I may have emptied it 5-6 times during the day. Anyway, overnight (between the first night and second morning) it leaked. Then I could feel it leaking when I went to the book store. So I ran to the bathroom to reposition and to my surprise it was completely full. So I tried again, and within a couple minutes of leaving the bathroom, I could feel the cup, which I know you're not suppose to. At that point I said screw it, I have my backup, I'm just gona buy some books and worry about it later. So maybe 2 hours later, I went to fix it, completely full again! Plus had leaked. Tried it again, that time I think I was leak free. By the time I got home, maybe 4-5 hours later, when I emptied it, I made a lil mess cause it's freaking difficult to empty when it's COMPLETELY full. Back in, but still using back up. That night there were no leaks. The rest of my period was leak free.
I really liked using it towards the end on my light days, when I would normally have a bit of difficulty and be sick of using tampons, but I really don't like pads. With the cup, I can leave it in all day, and not worry about having every size tampon. On days that are too light for a tampon I can still use it. So besides having them as back up, I might be able to be completely pad free soon. xd
I don't know if it didn't work on the second day cause my flow was just way too heavy, or cause I didn't have it in right, hopefully next month I will have it down.
Oh, and as to what people were discussing, the Diva cup is GUARANTIED. Or so I was told. You have 1 year, and if you're not satisfied you can get your money back. They're not about to sell it to someone else, probably they discard of it, but I was told, if after a few months, I still couldn't get it to work for me (and they have phone support lol) that I could call the company and they will reimburse me. Cause obviously people are worried about spending that kind of money on something they aren't sure will work for them. This way they allow people to try it, who would normally be too paranoid, so the money they loose on the few who return it, doesn't hurt them at all.

Never tried the cup and don't plan on it. I'm a pad person all the way. I use Lunapads, and I really like them. My skin is sensitive, and disposable pads are often a bit rough for me. But Lunapads are really soft, so they don't irritate my skin. They also don't get that funky smell that disposables sometimes get. I ordered mine from www.drugstore.com. I think they have the cups there too.

My first 2 months were really rocky too, but after that i pretty much can put it in, in like 1 minute or so XD I wonder how much money i saved from buying tampons.....

I've been using the cup for 2 years now, I only ever use a tampon when I'm going swimming, (because I'm TERRIFIED that I'll have a leak) However, I've noticed that I don't feel right with tampons in, I'm pretty sure that I developed toxic shock syndrome after having a tampon in for about 4 hours or so, it went away as soon as I took it out so it might not have been, but just in general I notice a worse and worse affect tampons have on me from influencing my cramps to this new toxic shock thing.
I'm getting some natural fiber tampons for swimming next time and I'll see if they give me the same effect.

I agree, there's definitely a learning curve. It took me about 2 cycles to get the hang of things. Now, I never leak and I've had mine for a few years. Congrats on getting the menstrual cup! I wonder how one says yay to that, confetti?
