David didn't even seem to flinch as he eavesdropped on Josh's comments, and even went as far as expressing his disinterest in stretching and folding his arms behind his head. Whatever burning Josh's eyes and words attempted on the man's skin or soul seemed ignored or too weak to affect him. Leech? Hussy? Empty slander that almost bored David, though his hand had twitched a bit at the idea of being disrespectful. He furrowed his brows in deep thought, carefully choosing how to respond.

"Respect? I don't even respect myself, but..there is one person who receives nothing but that from me. You'd be amazed to hear this, pretty boy, but that special person is my sister. She deserves more than I can give, and yet I keep trying. So no, I'm not joking when I ask you two if you have any clients I could pick up on. If I earn enough money I can get her a bigger apartment, some nicer things, and easily take care of the bills so she has less to worry over. If I earn enough money, I can make Namini happier, so why would I be joking if it's towards that kind of goal?"

There was a heavy silence as David paused for dramatic effect and to collect his scattered thoughts. Suddenly, he seemed even more serious than before as he growled,

"Ah. By the way, if any of you happen to encounter my sister, do not tell her of my evening occupation. God knows what she'll nag me about.."

It may have been the heat in the elevator finally melting Josh’s better senses, but every word coming from David’s mouth seemed to antagonize Josh more and more. His mind began to boil at the sentence swirling around him, at all the insensitive drivel leaking from the man’s mouth. Hmph, if he loved his sister so much, why was he hiding this from her. If he respected her he would treat her like the adult she was, not like some insecure child. Josh huffed as his glares didn’t even scathe the ebony haired dimwit.

Josh did what he thought he would never do, it must’ve been the heat finally making him crack, he crawled on the ground drawing closer to the man. The boy’s frustrated features grew closer and closer by the second. Josh would get a reaction from this man, something, anything to show David that he was wrong. Josh was mere inches from David’s sharp features when Josh’s mouth opened. His words ghosted over David’s face with quiet fury, “If you were a real man, you wouldn’t lie to her. Namini doesn’t care about your money, she just wants your loyalty and love.” Josh tone reached a deadly level as his eyes seemed to blaze under the thin veil of his auburn bangs.

The temperature was starting to rise in their confined prison again, but this time for a different reason.

Animosity.

David's comments were beginning to make her very uncomfortable. At first he had seemed pretty nice; shallow, but nice. And now things seemed to be going down the tubes as far as her impression of him went. A shallow, cantankerous, inconsiderate man who felt no qualms over using people for their money and then throwing them back out without a second thought. All for his sister?

Anita hoped dearly that Josh was correct in feeling that his sister wanted nothing to do with how David acted. Lying to her, even? And he still felt it was all for her sake? Pulling herself back a bit, she started to move closer to the doors and away from the two males. If her experience in public school taught her anything, it was that if a guy got up into another guy's face, fists were going to fly. Words would have no place here, shortly, she could feel it.

And she would be stuck as the mediator.

David eyed the approaching shadow with nothing short of fierce anticipation. Unfolding his arms, allowing them to rest in his lap, he waited patiently as Josh moved in closer and closer, until David not longer had to strain his ears to listen to the boy's ragged breathing. David knew that sound all too well: The kid was pissed. And the older man was beginning to feel the same way. Yes, he lied, constantly to Namini, but he did it in order to keep her happy and worry-free. Yes, he had long ago assumed that money meant nothing to her, and that all she cared for was his own happiness, but a part of him still felt responsible for replacing their mother. He wanted to be strong for her, he wanted to be understanding and patient, loving but strict. But god, the shoes of their mother were hard to fill. David felt a pang of guilt run throughout his chest as he remembered back to their mother's death. He would never allow his sister to be that unhappy again.

"...she just wants your loyalty and love."

David turned his raging eyes to Josh's auburn ones, the storm rumbling violently within them as he gritted his teeth. What did this BRAT know about love and loyalty?! All he cared and knew anything about were his stupid video games and the latest pick-up lines. David felt an thunder forcing his hands to shake and a fire causing his cold, careless attitude to melt. This idiot knew nothing about the real world, the things that mattered!!

Having finally reached his boiling point, David placed an adrenaline-pumped hand roughly on Josh's head, half-heartedly gripping the boy's hair out of his face, and pushed his forehead against the other's, locking their eyes in a death match. His suave voice had also lost its smoothness and rumbled like the whirling clouds in his eyes, "What do you know about love and honesty? Have you ever experienced the reality of losing someone? Have you ever been able to understand the significance of money and power in the real world?"

David's grip tightened, eyes nearly watering in fury, as he gently pounded his skull against the other's. The volume of his voice increased, seemingly shaking the chamber in its rage.

"Do you KNOW how happy lies can make someone? -he thrashed himself against Josh again- If I didn't do this job, she'd be left with nothing, AGAIN. -David threw himself against Josh's forehead once more, before releasing him- I won't let that happen."

He ignored the trickle of blood from his forehead. The pain was nothing compared to the ire he was feeling.

A thick air cling between the two males. Stifling from the fever of vehemence and tension growing around them. Josh felt uncomfortable as they stared each other down. David’s form quickly filling the gap, linking them by their slick foreheads. With this newfound connection, David seemed to bring even more rancor and irritation to the gale erupting around them. Josh’s auburn orbs flickered with pent up rage. If looks could kill, one of them would already be a lifeless corpse on the floor somewhere. Unfortunately for Josh, that was not the way the world worked. David made the first hit…

Josh was taken aback at first. His world seemed to tumble and fall around him like some unstable blocks finally given the last push that would send them over the edge. The mirrored room seemed to slowly spin as he recollected his thoughts. Too late. Another hit cracked into his skull. Then another. Josh cringed at the grating sound of bone crunching. The boy could feel traces of blood beginning to dribble down his face. The small streams slid elegantly down his effeminately curved features. The trails painted his face with a fine lacework of crimson. Josh blew a stray strand of bangs from his face and looked down at David. Josh’s eyes twisted with enmity and his brow furrowed with pain.

No, he had never lost anyone before. He had never been graced with the misfortune of squandering a life. That didn’t entail that the boy was void of suffering though. Josh had felt the cruel world that lying brought. Even if it brought temporary relief, it was only escalating the anguish that was to come. He had lied to his parents and lied to himself before. It was a cheap and short lived victory.

Josh gritted his teeth to stop them from grinding in wrath. He tilted his head back as he spoke, “No, I haven’t lost someone. That doesn’t mean that I haven’t felt loss before,” He scoffed, “What do I know about love and honesty? Apparently more than you!” His head came careening down and slammed into David’s with a sickened snap. Still, Josh pushed further until David’s head collided with the mirror behind them. The glass splintered and a dainty weave of cracks adorned its surface, like a delicate web radiating from the bickering duo. Josh was nearly numb to the throbbing in his head. He was to incensed by David to care.

Josh grabbed the nape of David’s neck and reared back his fist for another hit, “Power and money mean nothing to your sister’s happiness. If you keep hiding from her and lying you are only going to make her misery grow.” He slung forward jamming his fist into David’s face, “I don’t want to see Namini frown again either! Do you know what will happen when the little world of falsehoods you made comes crashing off its pedestal? Do you know how hurt she will be?” Josh could already see the torment disfiguring Namini’s compassionate features. That was not a site he wanted to be a part of.

No. No, this was stupid. What the hell were they doing? It was so dark, visuals were hard to discern, especially in her newfound distance, but she saw the outlines of their forms and-- heard the slam as David brought his head violently against Josh's. Once. Twice. Three times before he was finished, apparently not caring about any sort of pain in the process. That noise was awful, but it succeeded in distracting Ani enough. Make her close her eyes so that she couldn't even see their shadows hurting each other.

Just voices.

Through them, she peeked once more, as she took note of Josh speaking. She wondered how he could think straight with how solid those headbutts had sounded-- and then there was another, this time from the younger boy. A louder smack followed as David was pushed back, slamming into the glass of the elevator wall. Ani stood up abruptly, standing as far into the corner as she could. Trapped. In an elevator. And now they were fighting. Attempting with all of her might to block their noise out, she pressed her head against the wall, trying to listen for any strain the elevator might be under. If they ended up moving or--god forbid--falling, all because of this skirmish... she would kick their asses in the afterlife.

David hissed as he felt his head slam against the glass, the throbbing in the back of his mind growing. Josh's fist made contact with his lower jaw and David felt his adrenaline levels spilling over. His body was shaking violently from the excitement of fighting. Oh it brought him back to his younger years, and thank god he had maintained his physique with weightlifting and regular gym visits, otherwise this kid might have been a serious problem. Though, in reality, Josh was quite the problematic opponent. Tasting the revolting saltiness of his own blood dribbling through a cut in his gums, David turned his head and locked his savage eyes with Josh's once again.

"More than me?" he chuckled, searching the teen's eyes for any glimmer of hesitation, and then, David reached for the arm that pinned him against the wall. As his hand gripped Josh's forearm with a beastly passion, his mind for a split second seemed to shake and his vision blurred. But he regained control of his senses quickly and returned to the situation at hand. "The only fields in which you have any experience in are idealism and false justice. Don't act the hero when you don't understand the entire situation. You admit that you've never lost anyone, so you admit that you don't understand what we've gone through!"

David's voice was now getting jittery from the thoughts and words he had built up and refused to pay attention to. He wasn't going to tell them his life story just to get a pity point or two. No, hell no. David was not about to stoop that low. The fight was going to end with either one of them getting their mouths ripped off or by forcing this brat to apologize for false accusations and interventions on David's personal life.

"Don't-"

David stopped mid-sentence as he twisted the boy's arm off of his neck and then threw his entire weight into a punch, making contact with Josh's diaphragm. Releasing the other arm, he panted lightly as he raised a hand and wiped the growing sweat off his forehead.

"Don't act like you know my--," growling, David felt his cell phone ringing once again. Ah, what perfect timing. He answered it calmly, though his breathing was ragged and obviously exhausted.

"Hello?"
"David!!" came the squealing reply. "I brought the clothes you asked."
"Oh..so you're here?" David glanced down at his hands which were smeared with the blood from his forehead.
"Mmhm! I'm with the fire department and some technical staff. They're working on the elevator right now. Should only be a few more minutes. I hope everyone's doing well?"
David turned his gaze at the panicked Anita and the also bleeding Josh, "Yeah. We're good."
"Hey... are you okay? You sound sick or something. Is everything okay, David? David?"

-click!-
Shutting his phone, he also made sure to turn it off this time. Slipping it back into his pocket he stared emptily at Anita, for once making eye contact with her.

"Hear that, Ani? You'll get your game back soon."
He ended this disturbingly calm statement with a soft chuckle.

Josh fumed as David latched onto him and continued their razor edged conversation. The boy had trouble focusing though as his mind began to quiver and swirl due to the bashing it had received. Apparently, adrenaline could only last so long. Josh’s honey-brown eyes grew wide when the larger man gripped at his arm. The man’s wiry fingers dug harshly into his flesh turning the light tan to a ghostly white from the pressure. Josh yelped as a punch was thrust into him just bellow the ribcage. David’s fist seemed to sink into his stomach. The boy cursed the fact he had no clothing to soften the torturous blow. Josh choked as a new wave of blood and bile sprung up in his mouth. He fell to the floor in a heap at David’s side.

The boy seemed to fade in and out of reality. He squinted his eyes to get a better bearing on the world. However, the only things he could make out were the gentle whirring of the heater, the mumble of faded voices, and the ghastly shape of David next to him. Who exactly was he talking to? The boy’s mind couldn’t focus long enough for him to draw an answer. Josh weakly clutched his head and stifled a cough as some blood slid back into his throat. He hacked vehemently awarding himself a small pool of the vile liquid next to his head. It was already absorbing into the ‘bargain sale’ carpeting.

Josh cringed as he heard David’s echoing laughter in the elevator. Oh, how that sound wore away at all of Josh’s patience. The propped himself up shakily. He wobbled to and fro as he attempted to straighten himself up before David, salvaging what little pride he had left. It was hard to ignore the relentless pain in his mid section or the purple bruise forming on his abdominals. He wouldn’t give up so easily though.

Josh leaned forward with all of his might to form a hit. Unfortunately, most of his strength went into keeping himself from collapsing. By the time the strike made it to David it was mere tap in the chest. If anything, it was like he fell into the man’s arms, like a cheesy shojo manga of some sort.

Her game?

That object of desire had long since slipped from the front of her mind to her subconscious, long before this fight even broke out. Compared to their current situation which had escalated on the scale of uncomfortable by at least one hundred percent, that game was at zero.

The amount of relief she felt was small, surprisingly. As she saw Josh's shadowed form make a horrid attempt at standing normally and retaliating once more, Ani let out a small sound, twitching as she thought momentarily to move forward to try and catch him but thought better of it half way through. No, she had to be smart about this, if they weren't going to. They were all strangers. They were all half naked. And two out of three parties were now horribly bruised and beaten. How were they really going to explain this situation once they were rescued?

How would this Namini react? Would David's lies actually be caught because of this?

All she could do was let out a small huff and move closer to the two men, squinting to try and see just how badly they were marred. Josh seemed worse off, which was no surprise with David's "barbarian physique". "Okay, stop now," she muttered quietly, mostly to Josh as David seemed finished enough after that phone call. If necessary, she would help Josh out of there, clad only in those jeans and that bra. The boy looked a wreck...

Once his phone had been completely devoured by his pocket for the last time, David closed his eyes heavily and seemingly tried to relax. His muscles ached and having to focus his eyes so much in this small compartment had increased the insane ringing throughout his head. That's when he hear a mouse-type noise and opening his eyes, was suddenly taken aback by the tumbling shadow of Josh. Catching him as -surprisingly- carefully as possible, David let out a loud, obviously irritated hiss as his bruised back was pushed against the ruined glass once again, but besides that, said nothing more. He looked beside him and seen that Anita had scooted closer, apparently not relieved in the least to see that they had stopped fighting or at least, David's attempt to calm her nerves. He frowned deeply and, readjusting the delicate teen in his arms, making it so that Josh's head rested on his shoulder rather than slinking into the man's abdominals, with a free hand, David stretched forward a bit and placed his on one of Anita's shaking ones.

Astonishingly considerate now, he broke out into an apologetic smile and, trying his best to control how badly his body was taking this heat and exhaustion, attempted kindness yet again with the poor girl, "I'm sorry about this, especially for my irrational behavior.. I won't make any excuses for it, but I hope that one day you'll forgive me."

He quickly broke the contact between them, fearful that instead of calming her now, David had scared her even more. Probably thought that he was still viewing her as a client. How sad, he thought, but kept the smile on his face. Shifting his attention from the disappointed brunette though, David stared at the bleeding one in his arms. A respectful grin was somewhere on his face, though still, the man refused to say anything more than was necessary. ...Like apologizing. Pfft, no way in hell was he doing that.

Thoughtful grey eyes continued to burn into the boy's flesh, disliking the idea but concluding that perhaps, yes, perhaps, David would allow the relationship between Namini and this spunky, considerate Josh to continue. But the man would die or Josh would, if they were anything but friends.

Josh felt himself being gently moved but made little response except for a indignant grunt. He felt his head place on sticky, taut mass of flesh. The way it jabbed uncomfortably in his cheek, Josh assumed it to be a shoulder or knee. Most people would have swooned and tittered at being in a precarious position such as this with a man like David. However, this was Josh. The boy found his location unbearable. Their skin made contact in almost every curve and crevice. This only magnified the already insufferable heat. Josh could feel his chest growing slick and clammy from the warmth radiating off of their exhausted bodies. He shifted so less of their skin made contact and breathed a sigh of relief.

He would just rest here for a bit longer. Just long enough to collect his thoughts and stop the infernal siren going off in his head. Then he would be back to moving around in no time.

So how was he going to explain this to his parents? He was supposed to be at home studying calculus from what he remembered. Hmm, yes mom, the textbook decided that it wanted to give me a thrashing. No, that wouldn’t do. Josh turned his options in his mind and weighted them carefully. He drew only one answer. Once again, his parents would probably find out about his late afternoon exploits and he would be forced to do an copious amount of extra chores, or something of the like, to make up for his wrong doings. How frustrating…

Josh caught a small squeak of a voice next to him. Ani! The boy had nearly forgotten about her during his ephemeral brawl. The last thing he wanted to do was show any female his violent side. Especially, since he had ended up being at the receiving end of most of the hits. Well, he had definitely screwed up today. He sat up, climbing out of David’s unwelcome embrace, and turned to the girl. He offered her a polite smile accompanied by an embarrassed flush. His words rolled out unsteadily, “I-I’m sorry…” The boy didn’t need to ask for forgiveness. His shame was written all over his face.

He twisted to look at David making sure their eyes locked briefly. Of course, he wasn’t initiating another fight. The boy knew his limits… most of the time. This instance his eyes were a bit softer, they held less contempt and more respect. It would seem as if he would have to live with this man if he wanted to remain friends with Namini. Josh looked at the bright side: that would just give him more opportunities to challenge David in the future. And next time, he concluded, David would be the one taking more blows; Josh always had a way of being a sore loser. Maybe along the way, he would also teach David to be more truthful with his sister.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 12, 2008 2:13 pm

Ani nibbled her lip nervously, taking glances at the both of them. Things were calm now, at least, and for that she was grateful. Instead of the tenseness she was feeling just moments ago she was now beginning to feel rather sympathetic. They both had their reasons, and heat was not a place to get even the slightest bit annoyed in--it always made it worse. And so, for now, she deemed it the heats fault and would give both of them clean slates once they were out of here. Yes, even for seeing her just about half naked.

It was then she realized she still was and she looked down at herself, taking her hand away just as David released it, and thankfully he hadn't been touching it for very long. Sweat had appeared in seconds. Looking over the both of them once more, feeling the color rise in her face, she went over to the corner where she had tossed her top, picking it up and dragging her bag to that same corner with her. Checking the contents, she made sure nothing had been knocked or broken in their tussle, and all seemed well indeed.

From the movement, her vision blurred slightly and she sat down so fast it must have looked like she fell. Still, she adjusted herself once she was on the floor and the short dizzy spell had passed. Heat was not her friend. It never had been. At that moment, since everything was calm now, she was half tempted to either roll up her jeans or just take them off entirely, but a short jolt from their prison destroyed that thought instantly.

Movement?

It halted again very quickly, as if it had just been nudged, but there was another short jolt. And then another. So they were working on it. Good news indeed. Too bad the heater wasn't shutting off, or even better, the air conditioning. Jutting her lower jaw forward slightly in thought, Ani began moving things about in her bag again, this time in search. A squeak of approval sounded when she found just what she was looking for. Tissues. She removed a couple and walked back over to Josh and David, mostly handing them to the older man as he seemed more collected. "It would look bad... if both of you came out so bloody..." she didn't feel the need to finish, but she tapped Josh's arm a bit to silently ask if he could manage wiping his blood away or he needed assistance.

As Josh wiggled out of the man's embrace, David did little to assist or damage him more. He just sat and allowed the boy to do as he pleased, and yet when they're eyes locked, he couldn't help but laugh. For a moment, Josh's face had seemed to possess a kind of innocent puppy look, and David was quickly reminded of how Namini pouts. Once the teen was out of his arms, David adjusted himself so that he was in a corner now, away from the shattered glass and a little away from Anita, as he began to contemplate what he would tell the officials about their appearances. All were almost stripped down to the skinnies and the two males were all bloodied, with the female uncomfortable as all hell. That's when David realized something.

Watching the girl shuffling for her belongings, David couldn't help but smile awkwardly as she approached with her innocent offering of tissues. A pinkness was hinted in his cheeks, and it made his roughened appearance appear incredibly flustered, though it was just a few colored speckles across his face. His eyes had finally flickered back over her revealed torso and it seemed to be making him even more hot. Looking downward hesitantly at the floor but graciously taking the gift, David mumbled softly, "Black makes you look sexy." He chuckled quietly once again.

Unlike before this whisper possessed nothing even close to charm or an undertone of financial motivation. Ironically, David's voice seemed to be like that of an entirely baffled teenager, forced into an utterly embarrassing situation. It seemed that the lady killer couldn't handle a real lady. With so much embarrassment, the young man even paid little attention to the metallic shuffling taking place above, or was it around?, them.

Namini, on the other hand, stood impatiently by the staff as they reconnected wires and colored plugs in some small box beside the elevator shaft. Goodness! This was taking too long! She began to fidget, squeezing the jeans and t-shirt against her chest nervously.

"I hope everyone's okay.."
PostPosted: Thu Jun 12, 2008 3:09 pm

Josh wobbled off to one of the last free corners of the elevator. He fell onto the bristly floor rather clumsily and leaned against the wall. His head was pressed firmly against its surface.

‘Thump’

He was startled to find the familiar sounds of metal slamming and echoing voices droning outside their metal prison. Hmm, wasn’t it supposed to be another two hours before the rescue team would arrive? He supposed the saying was true: time flies when you are having fun. Or in this case, getting the snot beat out of you.

Josh peered up as he felt a delicate touch on his arm. His humiliated flush subsided as Ani came up to him with a chaste and gracious offering of some tissues. So maybe he didn’t completely scar the girl then? He took them in his hands and beamed. It was a toothy grin that you would usually see adorning children who had just gotten away with stealing a cookie or something of the sort, “Thank you.” The boy was feeling better already. Hopefully, by the time they were out of the scorching elevator he would be in the mood for moving again. A bit a fresh air would probably do some good for his blurry senses too.

He made a move to start mopping up the blood and sweat caked on his face. That is, until he heard David’s comment about Ani’s intimate apparel. Josh’s face seemed to glow crimson as if the comment was aimed at himself. His anxious eyes immediately went down to Ani’s sleek black bra. He had also forgotten that she was nearly barren of clothing like them. It would also seem as though his eyes had trouble landing anywhere else other than the obvious cleavage set before him. The rescue team couldn’t come soon enough…

The smile she had offered the two was suddenly changed into a look of confusion and, then, flustered esteem. Sexy? Surely not. In a small state of discomposure she found herself looking down at her own chest, which she quickly remedied by staring at the cracked portion of the mirror where David's head had landed and took note that there was nothing dark there, and thus his head injury was minor, if existent at all.

Each jolt of movement, though far between one another, seemed to be a bit longer then the last. A good sign. She could still feel their eyes on her, though, no matter how embarrassed they were as well, and she turned quickly away so only her back was visible, wiping a bit of sweat from her neck. As soon as she got back into that house, that house with the luscious air conditioning, then she would get a shower. A nice. Cold. Shower.

Her hands had started wringing the top she held in anticipation, glancing every few seconds at the doors beside them. Nervous idle motions. As soon as the ding of the doors came, she would be whipping that top on faster then a bullet. She wouldn't want to explain, oh no.

One more jolts. Two. She couldn't quite tell which direction the elevator was going in, but it didn't really matter as long as they got out of there. Hell, she would happily take the stairs from the highest point in the building if it meant they were free again.
