Can someone tell me if this website preserved the original text of The Iliad or if they translated it into modern Greek? Either way would someone be willing to teach me using it?

Quote:

τίς τ᾽ ἄρ σφωε θεῶν ἔριδι ξυνέηκε μάχεσθαι;

This is a bit late but, I was quite annoyed of the constant "Welcome to my room" requests in the discussions that I got so annoyed that a translator was a last result.

Here are some useful phrases. They're all phonetic; I can speak it, but I can't spell it so well. xD Although "Greeklish" is used by many people in greece when typing on a keyboard that has no Greek characters. Just typing the words with their pronunciations, OR with the English equivilant of the Greek letter. So hello could be typed "giasoy" or "yaso," really.

Hello = YA-sou!

Goodbye = An-DAY-oh! <---What is that? And, YA-sou also works here.

Do you speak Greek? = Mee-NAHS Ah-lee-nee-KAH? Should be Mee-LAS EH-lee-nee-kAH

A little = LEE-gho.

Yes = Nay. Neh

No = OH-hee.

My name is... = Toh on-a-MA moo EE-neh...

Where is...? = Poo-EE-neh ee/to...?

Fish = PSA-ree.

Bread = Pso-MEE.

House = SPEE-tee.

Dog = Skee-LEE.

Anything in particular you want me to translate?

By the ay, to make something possessive, you add "_ou" after it. So 'my dog' would be 'skili mou'! 'Your dog' would be 'skili sou'!

Just corrected some of the pronounciations here.
Are you of Greek origin? smile

Yes, Indeed I am.

Cool, are you 100% Greek cuz I am.

Wait, why did I want this translated 4 years ago? Oh well, I know who probably wanted it translated. I'll ask her.

[Google translate has its uses as long as you're aware it's horrible.]
