Savith stayed at the shoreline only long enough to get Dancer's private send, and to clean off in the surf. He sent a private reply before lifting from the sand and flying off, back toward the gathering hut.

Crosscurrent swam slowly upwards so that her ears/head wouldn't decompress too quickly. It was easier to give his friend air: her more calm emotion making it last longer. And he would rather skim jagged reefs then admit the toll breathing for two for so long was taking.
Finally he broke to the surface. He'd risen at the same angle of descent so it was easy to notice... no Glider. Good.
Enjoying the feel of Dancer against him he kept hold of her even as he finally entered the shallower area. It twinged, like moving different then a work-outed muscle was expecting, to shift from tail to legs.
He'd had the forethought to not sneak up on Fire Bright, nor close to where the net covered litter rested.
"I did prepare a small sleeping space if you wish to use it with your furry friend. It is a warm night," he offered when the water reached only his thighs.

It was then and only then that Fire Bright and how worried he must be popped into her mind. The heavy feeling hit her hard as they exited the water. Knowing it must be even harder for Crosscurrent who spent most of his life there she shifted if he wished to put her down. **Sleep sounds wonderful.** She glanced at the shore to see a pacing tiger making gruff little sounds of worry. A small roar at the sight of her being carried out of the water and he was on his way over to them. Now as the lumbering beast made it's way swiftly to the two of them Dancer sent to Crosscurrent, **Trust me now. He will not hurt you.** She was confident and sure of her furry friend. His large head came to hers and she placed a hand on it. "I am fine Fire Bright. You worrying cat." she laughed softly. Now whether he wanted her down or not she slipped from his arms to hug the large cat. Looking to Crosscurrent she smiled softly. "I can't tell him you are a friend. I can not send to him. Please touch him and let him know your smell better." Her eyes asked the same of him as she stood in the shallows with the tiger at her side.

"With my luck the scent of 'fish' is going to make her hungry," he sighed with a hint of humor, but allow an arm out for the big predator to nose. Since he'd expected Dancer to regain her feet, which was a mix of relief and minor regret, her sudden escpae to hug Fire Bright was no surprise.
The other hand pointed a short distance from the tide-line toward a small partial lean-to on the edge of the folige. It was mainly to keep the stray breeze from hitting the sleepers then a proper shelter. Still, the night was warm and her cat was here. It was more then enough. The 'floor' took advantage of the soft sand with a litter of leaves to keep her body-heat from escaping into the ground. The depression was only a few inches deep, but enough to make it a mild nest.
It was a ten minute walk from where they'd been meeting so far.
"Well enough given the time and that I usually do not build land homes for more then a day's stay, I think." The tone said 'I am no crafter of such things but I like it'. Hands absent-mindly wipping the salt bits from the sea water from his gills (not being used they were currently 'closed' at his torso) from crusting shut.

It was clear the animal was happy to see his friend again safe and sound. He pushed between the two and round her as small cat might before she made him stop. Taking Crosscurrents wrist she pulled him close to Fire Bright and placed his hand on the beasts face. The fur was wet but soft still. Big golden eyes stared at Crosscurrent for a moment then the head lowered a bit. It seemed he remembered this smell from when she got the net full of fish. Dancer chuckled lightly and looked to the sleeping area. "You did a fine job." She was so tired by now she could have slept on rocks. She motioned for Fire Bright to curl up first and he did. After all his pacing and worry he was ready for a catnap as well. "Sit with me for a few moments will you?" Blue eyes looking to Crosscurrent as the lips held a welcoming smile. As if inviting him into her home for a bit. As she sat she asked quietly. "Will you let me show you the land sometime soon?"

"Rapid, rushing.. you do like to quickly do everything," he mentioned with a wary kind of humor. The move to make him touch Fire Bright hadn't startled him. Well, not in his mind, but his heart skipped a beat.
The Wavedancer hand to bend over when she curled down with a tired slowness. The hand she'd captured to pet fur went to tug a strand of her hair as he nodded, "Just not tonight."

Heavy eyes soon slipped shut and her head snuggled into the fur of the cat. "Sit here with me Crosscurrent. Tell me about the vast deep till I am asleep. I can't stand all the silence another night." Her voice a whisper so he might not have even heard her. She was talking about the lack of others. Of family and friends that often said goodnight or sleep well or whatever the moment called for. At night more then any other time she truly felt alone.

"Sleeping already. I will Send to you," Crosscurrent agreed. He couldn't, however, rest beside her yet. Instead he nudged her over into further contact with her warm, furry friend, and sat on his heels close by until she fell asleep. Something she would do quickly from the look of things.
He Sent images of water. That calm everything that made his true home to lull her fast into dreams. After a minute he then quietly rose to head where the Glider had left Eltiln's body litter.
---------------
The warm water was dappled with strong light, with the lightest currents to sway the edges of his tail-fins and hair-ends. There was snatches of song a distance away. It repeated, fumbled, and repeated as young Fenyil attempted to perfect the song she'd just learned. But it was a pleasant sound - even the numberous times already played it felt lively.
He ignored the two children trying to coax him into playing rather then napping. It was when a voice as nearly toned as his own started attempted to bribe him (annoying older brother..) that he opened his eyes to see a mirror image of himself looming over him. And he could feel the vibrartions of his throat as he told them in no uncertain terms what would happen if they didn't quit it.
In detail.
The lazy smile the Chief (only one of them) gave the brats made it tempting to move from his coral and throddle him. Or cuff the cheekist brat, who was playing up perfectly with his meddling sibling. He wasn't fooled at their innocent by-play.
Of course, Adir finally got what he wanted.. at a price. The only reason the younger Chief kept ahead of him as he raced after was that he was still tired from the last eight-night's work Above. That didn't stop him from yelling threats in the wake of Adir's laughter. The crimson tail flashed as the older sibling took delight in almost letting himself get caught before twisting away.
There were sounds of conversation as the two flashed about the tribe's home. The brats now and then close as they darted about - even if they lacked the speed just yet to keep up the 'boundries' brought them near at times.
Elitln, the brown tailed boy, one of the louder and more frequent voices to yell encouragment to Adir. So he had gone after the brat when he came close. Only Adir, blasted twin-to-his-mind, leapt ahead to grab him first. And with that added drag it was a closer game that Adin Crosscurrent finally won.
------
There was a respectful tug of playfullness on his arm-fin that only partially distracted his attention to the strange knotted, now ruined, net he was studying.
A question to the youth. And there was suddenly a turtle-shell filled with seaweed and crab (it had Burrowshy's 'hand' all over it) thrust before him. It took a moment to focus his mind along with his eyes to the lunch being offered.
Eltiln's comment earned him a light cuff along the head before being grabbed into a head-lock. (The youth somehow kept the meal steady despite his squirming) It was a jest between them. An old joke since he'd been apprenticing the boy for the last four seasonal tides.
The brown tail (Eltiln lacked the magic to change them...perhaps a different magic?) had shed into a more tan/cinnamon coloring as he'd grown. It dappled and deepened as they all did with time.
He was careful to watch for any sign of true discomfort in their tussle. The boy was mostly healed, but why damage him. Then the youth showed his teachings (painfully from the reefs he'd froliced) by jabbing his kidney to escape. There would be apologies before the two settled to learning all they could from the ruined net for a time. The meal nibbled on as Elitln's playmate soon joined them in discussion that would soon include their Chief (one of them).
And the otter-like playfullness of the two younger apprentices slowly shifted to learn an adult's seriousness. It was good to see Eltiln's brief flashes of potential. He had wondered for a moment when the conversation had shifted to human habits if the boy might earn a strong tribal name soon.
---------------
Adir was missing, but the Chief didn't know that. He thought it was Adin who was. And so here he was listening to the lessons his brother should be sitting through in mild boredom. What did he know of crafter preperation? Enough listening to his brother over the many years.
And since his brother was off (Riverbasking was a good name for him) Above it was up to poor Adin to make sure nobody noticed.
His eyes watched as the elder Wavedancers collected things for their crafts, or for other crafters.
Inspected the hidden coves they readied in case of sharks or jellyfish swarms.
Had to be 'gentle, nuturing, happy' Adir when the smaller tribemates came to him. Thankfully the Chief gently sent them on their way shortly after to continue the lesson.
Had to close-Send to Adir (who felt restive/happy) to make comments on specific plans that he himself didn't know or care about. It meant enduring mild teasing from his sibling too.
And when beautiful Bentsalt smiled at her 'lifemate' he could only smile and hurry on before she got too close to notice the difference.
Eltiln had noticed their switch and now Crosscurrent had been blackmailed into promising to show him a more risky land 'adventure' to stay silent. Oh, the boy was learning far too well.. -----------------
Crosscurrent kept Sending moments when he had view beautiful things, especially if Eltiln was involved, as he worked. Perhaps it might erase the image of the body if she saw the boy himself as he'd lived.

Crosscurrent kept Sending as he tugged the litter in his wake, swimming in a different direction then he had taken Dancer. It had to be away from the spots he'd choosen earlier for hunting, living, showing Dancer.. because he did not wish to see any hint of the body afterwards. Eltiln's soul was with the High Ones now. There was no need to tend the husk.
Soon enough he'd found a deep place where scavengers were gathered. He paused to un-do the net, with the branches still blanketing the body if the current didn't pull them away, before abandoning the litter altogther.
And he was exhausted. With the net securely wrapped around his waist he made his way back to where the elftess and predator were sleeping. He didn't wish to get to close to Fire Bright, who might except him but not like being woken up by... Instead the Wavedancer yawned and lay a short distance away where the morning tide would likely touch.
A tired hand waved moist sand lightly over his legs and under his head. His weapon placed beside him upon the net he lay out like a shawl. The ponytail holder removed to let his hair (long enough to reach his calves) fan out in the air.
It wasn't true covering, the sand, but he let him feel more secure for warmth. Thanks to his brother he had much practice sleeping where the sea met land. His mind Sent a final image of the coral he had taken Dancer in the hopes her own dreams would start there without leaving her 'alone'.
His own dreams settled so quickly once his head touched the ground and bicep reaching above him that he didn't even realize it.

Dancer woke before the sun came up. She, much like her furry friend were accustomed to sleeping in spurts. They slept when tired and ate when hungry. Fire Bright stretched and yawned as he woke. The beast noticed the body on the beach and was padding his way over to investigate when Dancer stopped him. Sending the cat to find something to eat for himself she smiled as Crosscurrent slept. Silent steps made their way over to watch him sleep peacefully. Her mind drifted to the under water adventure and all the pretty things she saw. Glancing at the still fading dark sky Dancer knew it wouldn't be long till the bright sun made its appearance. She also yawned and stretched to wake more. It was a lovely nights sleep thanks to her resting friend and the sheer exhaustion of the past few days. Sitting a little ways from him she waited to watch the sun and for Crosscurrent to wake. The stars faded as dawn pushed on. The smells and sounds of the sea were relaxing but she still found it hard to just sit there. Today if he let her she would show him the land. Dancer laughed softly at the thought of Crosscurrent on Fire Bright's back and what his face might look like. It wasn't long before she heard the low rumble of her belly. "Hush, we will eat soon." was all she said softly as she waited quietly.

There was a tension as he slept. Crosscurrent shifted in the sands in an attempt to get warmer. His hands buried themselves in the sand. Not that an awake hunter like him would admit to having a mild irritation like a faint fever, but his body was still protesting the hard labor of yesterday, and the day before that. It locked him into restless sleep in the few hours before the dawn.
At one point he started dreaming of when he was a child. Those times when he was kept in-bed as the healer slowly made him well. As a child outside of Recognition it had been something that struck at times while growing up.
And he hated it. But he had learned to keep his protests quiet or suffer the pitying look of his babysitters. Still, he did ask for his brother, Adir. Big brother had always enjoyed nearby to entertain the two of them..

As Dancer started to wonder how long Crosscurrent would sleep she looked over at him, catching a restless moment in his struggle for sleep. Smiling she scooted closer reaching out to lightly run her fingers across his forehead and into his hair. Like a Mother might do with a resting child. It was then she noticed his warm head. The smile left her face and was replaced with a hint of worry. He wasn't in any danger from the fever as of yet. Gently and quietly, like a soft far away whisper she spoke to his mind. **Crosscurrent, are you alright? Can I get you something?** She didn't want to intrude on his thoughts and also didn't want to startle him awake. Her hand still stroking the heated forhead lightly.

There was only the passive feeling of the sleeping in thoughts. He did seem to settle a little at the touches. Snuggling into the beach sand: a leg lifted from it's covering.

Dancer smiled only a bit as he seemed to settling still she wouldn't be happy till he opened his eyes and told her he was fine. She didn't like him being ill. She didn't want to wake him but scooted closer still. Lifting his head ever so slowly she placed it in her lap and was content to stroke his head that way. After all he seemed to enjoy the touch. In his mind he could hear a soft little song anout the jungle is at peace while the mighty tiger sleeps. It was a lullaby her Mother and many Mothers sang their cubs to sleep with...

Crosscurrent grumbled, his limbs shifted as fingers and toes sought moisture. It wasn't long before it was clear the fever was growing. And, as it sometimes did, being ill make his body shift. The crimson tail's appearance had him figeting restlessly.
