As Charisma stepped into The Leaky Cauldron, a rather distraught witch swept past her. Charisma paused, considering going after her. She looked familiar- from her house, she thought-but not one of her friends, else she'd know her name. Oh well. Comforting wasn't her forte, anyway.

"Alright!" she bursted gleefully, spotting some housemates at a booth. A snake sucked into the vaccuum of familiar, she slid towards her friends.

"Kale! Cella! Greetings from Texas!" she called. She hadn't heard much from either over the summer; then again, they did live across an ocean. Being an American in a British school never really bothered her- all her favorite actors were British, after all, and she didn't have much of an accent. She loved Europe.

[[Sorry if that didn't seem like much, it's hard to break the ice... :3]]

The change of light from the outside to the Leaky Cauldron caused Vlaityn to blink awhile, as if her eyes were confused with the sudden change. After adjusting, she ordered a simple cup of coffee and sat down at an empty table.

Who can truly shop on a completely empty stomach?

Vlaityn sipped away as she took in her surroundings. A few yards away she could see Charisma chatting animatedly with a few others. Kale was ever farther away, seemingly lost in thought. The front of the room contained a few unfamiliar faces.

Eevee entered the Leaky Cauldron. She was ambushed by the hustle and bustle of everyone. Berek flitted around anxiously before perching himself on Eevee's shoulder. Eevee had to work her way around everybody to reach the back room. She waved politely to Tom and shot him a smile. She saw several other people who were surefire students of Hogwarts, students she had not yet met. "Well... we can meet new people later, let's get a biscuit and then purchase this year's things," Eevee said half to herself and half to her pixie. She felt him flutter his wings to ensure he heard, he wasn't wanting to talk today apparently. She got her biscuit and went into the back room. She tapped her oak wand in a pattern around the missing bricks.

Darius walked casually into the Leaky Cauldron, he could tell it was a busy day. Witches and Wizards from around the world were having drinks and discussing who knows what. He even spotted a few students from the school, none of which he knew. Darius heard a little squeak come from his shoulder, it was Shanks his albino rat. Darius laughed and replied, "Don't worry Shanks, there aren't any cats, or owls, I promise." The rat sat nervously on his shoulder. As he walked around he spotted an empty booth and took a seat. He ordered a butterbeer and an apple, then took out his list of materials from his messenger bag and ran through it. "Let's see...The books were taken care of, thanks to father...Mom's got the robes covered...And I've got my wand...I guess the only thing left is..." he takes a slight pause to look over the list more, "here, the class materials...Well I guess we can get started with that once we've had a little snack eh?" Shanks squeaks and Darius pats his head gently. The rat becomes more comfortable as the apple and butterbeer arrive. Darius uses the butter knife at the table to cut the apple into slices for himself and Shanks. He smiles watching his little pet nibble on a slice and rolls the list up, sticking it back in his bag.

After finishing his snack, Darius gathered his belonging and gave Shanks another pat on the head before walking out of the Leaky Cauldron. The sun was bright and fierce today, and soon the though of another drink crossed his mind. "No...No I should get going to The Apothecary before it's too late.." Darius walked along Diagon Alley, the hustle and bustle of kids trying to get there school supplies flourished all around him. Finally he found himself standing in front of The Apothecary Potions shop. A foul odor was about the place. "Well, I hope I get a good one, eh Shanks?" He chuckled and Shanks squeaked in reply as Darius opened the door and stepped inside.

The swiftness of the late afternoon rain never ceased to catch Addie by surprise. She pulled her hood from her jacket up and took off running towards the Leaky Caldron. Once inside, she took off her jacket and started towards the bar. Might as well get something to drink before I have to go back out into that downpour. "One butterbeer please," she told the barman and put the money on the counter. She grabbed her butterbeer and took off towards a booth by the window. She didn't see any she was good friends with, but nodded at Vlaityn Brales who was only a year above her in Ravenclaw.

The door to the Leaky Cauldron burst open and hit the wall with a bang as Sam stumbled in. She was carrying her bag of books very awkwardly, and it looked like she was struggling with the weight and the fact that a few books looked to free themselves from bondage. She staggered towards the bar and smiled sheepishly at Tom after a book finally found its change to escape the bag and slam onto the hard countertop. "Can I get a butterbeer please, Tom?" she asked, smiling but with an apologetic tone. She rummaged through her coin purse for the right amount and slammed it on the bar. She hobbled to a booth nearest to the bar in order to relieve herself of her burden, before straightening up and scanning the crowd.
No Ravenclaws from her year... But that was fine. There were still Housemates, and even a few other faces she recognized from other Houses. Sam grinned and secured her purse back into her inner jacket, before eyeing her bag to make sure it wasn't too easily visible. She then grinned broadly and decided to chat with as many people as she could, starting with fellow 'Claws.
She waved eagerly at Adhara, only a year above her, and moved towards her. "Hullo! McRain, right? How's your summer been?"

Kale let out an slightly exasperated sigh as Eloel moped. He resisted saying anything that would furthur distress the young girl because she was...well, young and a girl. Plus he wasn't in the mood to do anything but relax with his comrades. He gave her a polite nod goodbye as she edged away from them. Perhaps if she had caught him at a better time and back at the Hogwart's Castle, he would have been more personable. But at the time being, he felt no urge to make conversation with those outside his circle of friends.

He slid his attention back to his table and was about to excuse himself, having not packed any of his belongings for King's Cross tomorrow, when a voice called out before his lips could part.

'Ah....Charisma.' His lip quirked as the teasing nickname he dubbed her resurfaced, the one he knew ground on her nerves.

"Ris," he called back to her in a friendly tone, "I should mention, before I forget, Darty wants you to pass this on to your brother."

Now a full blown grin actually lighted his face at the mention of his young cousin and her crush on Caden. 'The poor bloke.' Kale proceeded in withdrawing an envelope from the depths of his robes. Oddly, it resembled a Howler.

"Here. And she says that if you open it, she'll never forgive you." At this point, Kale shrugged his shoulder. He didn't see what kind of threat that was. After all, who was Darty to Ris? But the ways of witches confounded him half the time; with their secrets and alliances.

Partially curious, himself, as to what lay within the Howler, Kale eyed it a moment longer before handing it over.

As Kale took a rather large swig of his drink, his eyes wandered to the door way, where an onrush of students just entered. His gaze was, first and foremost, drawn to a girl with iced irises. He often saw her randomly in the corridors at Hogwarts, but never really got to know the witch. They shared no classes, but he somehow knew her name- Vlaityn.

Turning rather abruptly, back to Ascella, Kale leaned close to whisper in her ear.

[[sending you a pm of what is whispered]].

He then stood to his full height, apoligising to everyone for having to leave so suddenly and requesting that they share a compartment with him on the Express, before apparating away.

Numerous classmates were slowly milling out of the building. Which probably meant Vlaityn should be on her way too.

Vlaityn drained her coffee cup and stood to leave. But not before her attention was caught by Adhara McRain. Vlaityn had always admired her creativity with writing and music. It was inspiring.

As she noticed another Housemate, Sam, wave a greeting towards Adhara, Vlaityn decided to stop for a quick meeting, and edged towards them.

"Sam. Adhara. It's been awhile. Enjoy vacation? Excited for the Appleby Arrows upcoming season, Adhara?"

Sam beamed as Vlaityn walked over, and waved her butterbeer bottle in greeting. "Well 'lo Vlaityn! You were next on my People to Be Sure to Chat With Before They Escape My Endless Conversations of Doom!" She shrugged while taking a quick swig. "It's been well enough. Can't wait to get back to my bed in the Tower. I got some projects started and fiddled around with those Muggle programs for animating, but it's slow going and I doubt I'll finish any of them." She sighed, more for the dramatic effect of "what can you do?" than actual sadness, before smiling again. "How about you? Did you make another trip to America?"
PostPosted: Thu Jun 26, 2008 1:26 pm

Vlaityn's mood lowered at the thought of America. "Ah, actually, my mother wanted to be closer to Hogwarts and Dad's family. . . . . We've made a permanent move here. . . Just moved a month ago, actually." It was a difficult summer for Vlaityn. Not that she didn't love being here, but still. Giving up the cornfields of her youth was a bit rough.

But she shook her head and cocked an eyebrow comically at Sam. "So now maybe I'll lose my Yankee Twang, huh? And don't you worry about those muggle projects. You know good and well you'll have another bout of energy, and you'll finish them."

Sam blinked. "I hope you don't lose your twang. I like it." She patted Vlaityn sympathetically on the back. "Permanently, eh? Well, not that that means anything. You can always visit! I don't fancy the trip across the pond, though."
Sam shrugged, but smiled in thanks at Vlaityn's encouragement. "I'll try. But y'know I'm as fickle as the moon. If I don't finish something fast enough, I'm likely to lose interest forever. It won't help that I won't be able to get back to them until next summer when I'm back among the Muggle computers, but what can you do!" She laughed, trying to shake off the feeling of restlessness from not being able to finish all those projects for such a long time. Sam knew she'd probably forget or have moved on by then, and she didn't really want to. She wanted to try and force herself to finish something for once, but... She'd have to make do with what materials wouldn't be affected (or could perhaps be enhanced, thanks to that Charms book she found) by the magical barriers at school.

"Ah, come on now. So you didn't finish something. There's a world of other things for you to get interested in and zoom through." Vlaityn inserted a flying hand motion to indicate zooming. A bit embarrassed, she tucked her hands away. "Like you always do."

Vlaityn started to mull things over quietly in her head before glancing back at Sam. "Really, don't be too upset over it. Just a summer project. Don't let it get to you."
