As Karite looked at the rabbit he couldn’t bring himself to do it. It looked so sad and it was once a cute innocent creature. Killing was something he couldn’t do. This little fluff ball did nothing to him and he was here chasing and killing it. That was all about to change though the rabbit felt the boys fear in trying to finish his job and took that time to bite the boy on the hand. Karite becoming startled jumped up dropping the rabbit. “Oh you’re a little hypocritical piece of rabbit guts! Here I was figure if I should spare your miserable life and then you go and bite the crap out of my finger. That is it your little hide is mine.”

Karite’s blood was boiling as he focused all his anger ad aggression on the small rabbit. It had caused him trouble pain and a little bit of sadness, but it crossed the line when it caused him physical harm. He watched the rabbit try its best to run as it was severely injured. Keeping pace Karite followed the still speedy booger. It ducked and weaved and Karite did his best to follow but it was still too fast for the boy. As it dived under a branch Karite was to tall to slide under it got a head start on him as it continued to move while Karite got up.

Karite tried his best to keep his eye on the speedy devil. The only problem was he was becoming bored with this task, but he would seek his revenge. That damn white and red fur ball was toying with him he could feel his anger rising like the swell of a typhoon on the ocean swallowing ships foolish enough to cross its path. As Karite got close to the rabbit it bolted quickly to the right making Karite run straight into a tree. No matter how far the creature got from him in could not escape leaving its red little trail to follow.

Karite couldnt keep up with the little demon he had to figure out a way to make sure they got this thing. Maybe Kore would help him long enough to corner the little guy. Karite turned sharply trying to keep up with the superior cornering of this cereature. That was something he would work on later. As he rolled on the ground he was begining to get annoyed with the creature. Getting up he looked around the grass for the crimson stain. It had stopped by a nerby tree.

Karite didnt know what to do it seemed a higher power was determined to let this rabbit live. Although not sure for how long with that nasty Kunai wound. Hearing a bell he remembered that he still had to head to class but looking at himself he looked a mess. He was sweaty and had dirt all over him not to mention the drying blood on his hands. He looked like he had come straight out of a battle field. That image reminded him of Maya the first time they meet. Simply smiling he patted Kore on the head and grabbed the only rabbit they had caught that day. "Looks like you and Ruha are going to have to share. Lets head to the academy. I am not one to be late for a chance to shock people."

Kore looked at the boy with a questioning look. Was he seriously going to let that prey get away so easily. Then he heard the loud ringing of a bell. To the boy it was slight but to him it was too loud for comfort. Karite had patted him on the head which meant to Kore job well done. A good sign if any. They boy said something about sharing which made his lips curl up. If he though that he was going t share anything with his lazy lounge about sister he was more mistaken then to think that he could fly. Shaking his head growling kore stood trotting after the boy as they made their way to whatever place the boy deemed fit. Kore did not care where they went. They boy was showing him adventure and fun. As long as no harm came along with it.

((Exit to Academy))

The slight hum of insects, chirp of birds and small patter of small animals made the scene of the bamboo forest very serene and calming. Shisei found that it matched his nature of tranquility and composure. Peering around slightly of each side, the serpent youth thought to start off easy first. A little bit of stretching would do his muscles well before entering into something strenuous. His mind remembered the red hair rebel. It was a wonder what he was doing at this point in time. There was also the question of his other peers, but they all were probably asleep. The snake child was the one usually sleep deprived. How many children would voluntarily get up early after all?

Shisei’s feet carried him until his body was surrounded by the tall green stalks. His spine then arched forward, pushing his upper torso down until his chest came into contact with his thighs. Both arms moved behind his legs and held to the back of his thighs. It would be a nice stretch for the back and see if he could keep his balance too.

The serpent child counted the seconds in his head as the gold circles behind his nose stared intently at the grass below his feet. A little cricket had landed on his big toe for rest. The little creature and Shisei acknowledged one another’s being, but did nothing to aggravate the other. It walked slowly across his toes also stretching its hind legs. After twenty seconds had passed, the orochi let out a large sniff from his nostrils. This caused the little insect to flee.

Shisei returned to his feet, his mind considering another inventive way to stretch. His braining obtaining an idea, the boy bent his spine in the opposite direction. His body kept leaning further backwards until it fell to the ground. Fortunately the child laid both hands at the back of him keeping his body from touching the ground. It almost appeared the Shisei was trying to walk on all fours, with his belly facing the sky. The serpent child kept hold of this position.

A minute’s half passed before the snake boy could no longer hold the position. His spine was beginning to grow numb from the awkward position. Both arms and legs easily let go of the strain allowing the tiny body to lightly hit the grass. The pale upper torso rose after a few seconds of contemplation on the next exercise. He his right leg over his left, letting the foot of the right touch the knee of the left. This kept the right limb bent with the knee sticking as high his chest. Shisei then twisted his chest allowing for the left arm to touch at the elbow of the right knee. This further bent the snake child’s spine to the left. His body stayed within this position as his eyes stared off into the bamboo wilderness.

It was such a peaceful and secluded environment. One’s thoughts could easily come alive in this area. Even the small animals and insects seemed to respect its quaint persona. As if it were a place that stood away from the rest of Shima. Considering the ‘interesting’ characters that the village had shown Shisei so far, it was a wonder as to why this forest was not burnt to the ground as yet. One could never know for sure what would happen to its beauty in the future. The serpent youth would have to use this silent place as his before others discover its usefulness.

Reptilian eyes continued to stare off into the hard poled jungle. His mind wondered how the war against his nation was turning. The family of Tenmoki had not returned as yet and the snake wanderer was beginning to question if he should deem the place his. The queen of the house should be ok. She looked strong and certainly smart enough to get out of most trouble. Shisei was not sure of what would happen to Seshiro. He was probably strong, but was he strong enough to face the fury of enraged orochi because he was a traitor to the clan? Also was he willing to kill members of the clan? The teen serpent was the one with the biggest question. As for the girl, Aya, it would be more surprising to Shisei if she did return. If all returned that would still leave the question of what occurred during their nights away.

That Aya…. she seemed to be the odd one in the little family. Yet considering that some of the family members were not even blood related maybe the reason why. Her bubbly persona just did not seem to be one fitting of a warrior. Just what was so great in this world to be so joyful about? Maybe the pale hair girl was just naive to the world. Shisei was assuming her personality based on the few minutes they had spent eating together. Maybe there was more of a serious side to the girl. She was sent with them on a dangerous mission so her talent must be high. Perhaps there is more to the so called ‘sister’ figure. The serpent child would learn more when they returned. Well if they returned. Shisei continued to hold his stretch.

The pulling of each string of muscle fiber brought the serpent youth back to reality. He’d held the position for more than twenty seconds, but it still was not satisfactory. Not for the level that he had to reach. That one person would keep him motivated. It was surprising that the little imp had not made an appearance all of the day before. It probably was for the best. Shisei had to decrease the difference between them quickly. Another crushing defeat would be unbearable. His brain also wondered if the crimson, emerald eye was doing his own type of training somewhere else. It would be slightly interesting to see what the mini barbarian did for training. If he did anything special that is.

With flesh threatening to tear, Shisei could not hold the position anymore. His form and body relaxed allowing the pulling pain to alleviate. Finished he was not. The boy became upset with himself and not satisfied with the progress. A few more seconds should have been attained before he released the hold. The only way to rectify this was by starting the time over. The serpent youth could not be lax and allow his body to become mediocre. He needed to reach the little imp’s level quickly and whoever else that was stronger than him… it. Being weak was not a life long dream of the Orochi kin. His mind had other purposes and things he needed to accomplish in the future. For those he needed strength.

Before jumping back into the exercise the snake boy decided to lie back and contemplate. He wondered exactly how many people were in his class. Just yesterday he met three new faces. There was the one who hopped over the fence. Shisei did not get a good look at him so there was not a clear image of the youth in his mind. There was also the boy with his crude sword practice. He was tall like the yard stick, but different. This guy was boisterous and not good with kids. Different from Shinobu, who was more of a people’s person. Then again Shinobu also seemed to be afraid of his own shadow. There was also that sandal-less girl who was hopping on one leg. The tanned hopper was weird but seemed ready for a scuffle. It would be interesting to see her limits in the future. His eyes kept starting up at the rising sun between the bamboo branches.

As orange star in the sky continued to make its slow ascent, Shisei finally noticed the nippy air that blew around the forest ground. Winter was around and soon the pale precipitation would be falling from the air. It was a sharper wind today than yesterday, reminding the snake child that ice would soon fall. The serpent youth usually did not mind, but it meant that he would have to help shovel. Not an exercise he cared for. It always hurt his back after pilling pounds of snow from one place to the next.

He was only happy that his clothes would keep him decently warm even when the days get cooler. One of the reasons for the zippers in his pants legs was for situations of temperature. If it were too hot he could turn the pants into shorts, if too cold put the bottoms back to the rest of the attire. It would be better to get a sweater just in case. The snake child did not know just how cold the air could get in Shima. In the next few days Shisei would know.

While the sky grew full with light the little cricket from earlier leaped upon Shisei’s nose. It made a little twitch from its legs before jumping away again. The snake youth rolled his head back to stare at the little bug hop around in the grass. This reminded the child that his body was in the middle of training. The resting period should be enough. Raising his torso and twisting his body and knee, Shisei returned to his stretch position and held it.

Seconds ticked by in the analytical mind trying to surpass the time previous. “Thirty eight… thirty nine… forty..” fanged lips lightly whispered to himself, making sure not to lose count. His mind kept track of the events of two days previous. That little lime haired shrimp could not get away with such infractions upon his being. The stretching was not Shisei’s main exercise in the bamboo forest for the morning. He had another exercise in plan and would start preparing for that as soon as his limbs felt stretched enough. It would help with the next training. Once he finished. “Fifty nine… sixty.” A slow gasp came out of his tongue as Shisei loosened the weird position his body was in.
