19?!?! well, you made it sound like you were so much older... heh. i too am 19.
so logic just has to make sense, even if it's not true? actually, my question is this: Is logic Fact as long as it is not refuted?
btw, you remind me of a friend of mine, named Brandon Tiongison. Freakin' genius, had the same kind of out look you seem to. biggrin

Tbh, my intellectual level isn't as bright as it seems and among other things, but I do enjoy thinking on the "worldly level" and as for logic, its based upon reasoning and it is not fact. Fact is fact and a definite state that we all agree upon. Logic is perfect because it is subject to change with the times and work with the basis of our current knowledge and reasoning.

if logic is perfect, it wouldn't need to change.
but i see what your saying, logic is adaptable. fits in to fill the need. etc. etc.
so? your a philosopher(sp), that doesn't mean your intellegence isn't all that high, just that you specialize in your area of expertise. don't take yourself lightly, your one smart guy! you and Kurai have my envy! scream

no its because it CAN change that makes it perfect because if it didn't change then how would it be perfect? If we were all subject to never change then how would we live now? biggrin

Only the one who could truly exist in such a chaotic state that results from the need to change and the inability to would live....ME!! I take this moment for myself, bow down, bow down! I was thinking "ego" but I suppose that would be to egocentric. Anyways, I only dropped out of the discussion because my internet stopped working for a while (meaning it was out for three days) and I couldn't respond.
Anyways, What argument are we on? Oh, yes.
Now look, are we talking "evolution" change or are we talking about adapting mentally to things around us. The two are separate only by what they apply to. The evolution of thought takes quite a while, while the change of an opinion can take only moments.
"Logic answers Reason, but the soul requires more than reality"
Basically, we need more than fact, and the oh-so malleable opinion is able to fulfill this role. Logic and Reason are necessities for living a semi-sane lifestyle, but you'll go insane if you can't possibly form your own opinion!!

Anyways, I only dropped out of the discussion because my internet stopped working for a while (meaning it was out for three days) and I couldn't respond. Well you and I my good sir differ on a large scale on our terms of vocabulary! blaugh Anyways, What argument are we on? Oh, yes. Now look, are we talking "evolution" change or are we talking about adapting mentally to things around us. The two are separate only by what they apply to. The evolution of thought takes quite a while, while the change of an opinion can take only moments.I'd say both collate with each other, being as that through the evolution of thought we find new opinions on life and living and we gain new insight but by evolving our minds. "Logic answers Reason, but the soul requires more than reality"BTW: love the quote - your going on my profile page with this. >: P Basically, we need more than fact, and the oh-so malleable opinion is able to fulfill this role. Logic and Reason are necessities for living a semi-sane lifestyle, but you'll go insane if you can't possibly form your own opinion!!Thats an interesting way to say it... that we will go insane if we do not form our own opinions, then tell me based on social views where do most opinions come from, and or start, are they really ever ours from the start? we build our opinions from our social needs we work together to make ideas work. That is the reason why we need each other to live. One man alone could never live on the earth. He would die within days. Yet I also agree that we do need more than fact for how else would we advance? Logic and reason are the primary tools in building our social structure.

"One man alone could never live on the earth. He would die within days"
one man, could live alone, without human contact. unless that person thrived on attention, then that might throw them into shock long enough for them to die. but for most. the basic instinct is to live. how else do you think we get hermits? of course, hermits and some people perfer not to interact with others of their kind, but instead, replace them with lower life forms, be it trees, animal(s), or inanimate objects. 3nodding

while this might be true, going insane being a high possiblity. ever watched Legend? horrible ending, but did you see how much he talked to his dog? to us, it would seem he is going insane, but isn't that what we do when we need to? see things from a diff. perspective? use things as a sound board, listening to the echos and takeing consolation in them?
its all kinda a gamble, i guess...
Ever seen Neverwas? guy is crazy, but wishes to live in his castle...thing. really not too bad of a movie.

Insanity, the perfect mental adjustment for an insane world. ~R.D. Lang
We all go crazy at some point in our lives. it's just not to the degree which most people think of or fear.We have a society that teaches people to thrive on other peoples attention and fear being alone. That is why so many disdain those who can be alone. Hermits have made the choice to isolate themselves from the rest of society, each for their own reasons. Now, it is said that to survive, we NEED contact with other humans. Why? Because they will talk and fill our head with bs? No. They mean for the survival of our race, our species. That seems to be the only reason we would ever need contact with others. (not that I mind the contact with others, Kye rocks my socks!)
