Damien watched as Aria approached him. Was she swimming slower? No, it probably was just his imagination. But even if she was, he didn't think about it. He was just happy to see her again.
"I had some luck." Damien replied with a small smile, "Next time though you should come with me. I'm sure I'd be really lucky then." He placed the bag down and was about to open it when his stomach gave a soft protest.
"Oh..." With a small embarrassed look towards Aria, the syrin finally admited, "I haven't had much to eat today...is it okay if I eat first?"

Aria laughed at Damien. He didn't seem to changed. She saw that he had muscles. Those had always been there. He'd be a great father, he could already hunt, and anything they needed he could find. The family was all set.
Aria went to the pen out side of the house and grabbed three fish. She returned to the kitchen and gutted the three fish. She cooked them up and served two on Damien's plate and one on her own.
She placed the plates at the table and moved aside the four baskets. She sat down next to him and smiled. "I've got two things to tell you!" She was bubbling with excitement. "We are going to have baby syrins!" She smiled happily, she didn't wait for a response for blurting out, "And I was wondering if we could also take in an orphan I had found. i am not sure where she went but She'll show up."

Muir had been having fun exploring the coral reefs, but it was high time she went back to Aria, her adoptive mother. It was a long distance, but wonderful to see the familiar home beckoning to her and she swam right up to the door. "Mother, I'm home--" she paused, seeing the male Syrin and stopped in the doorway, uncertain.

“Wha?!” Coughing Damien swallowed the piece of fish that he’d about choked on after hearing Aria speak. His deep green eyes flashed in surprise as the words kept repeating in his mind, ‘Baby syrins?’ It took him a minute before he spoke again and this time his voice was a strangled whisper. “Did…did I hear you right?”
Baby syrins? It was possible after all but the idea was just such a shock to the poor syrin. “You mean you’ve agreed to syrin sit for someone?” He tried to grin and managed a small laugh, “Or could it be that we’re having….having them?” How could he even imagine raising a family? He’d been alone as a child and didn’t know what having parents was like. Would he be doing the right things?
“An orphan as well?” That one didn’t seemingly bother him as much, especially since he knew how hard being an orphan could be. Then he heard another syrin enter and speak…‘Did she say Mother?’
He turned and looked at the teenager. Odd how he’d thought about her being a child, but apparently his vision of a small child was off. “Oh! Hello!” Damien put on his best attempt at a light smile, “I’m Aria’s mate, Damien.” He held out a hand awkwardly. “It’s nice to meet you and as I was about to tell Aria its fine if you decide you want to stay with us.”

Muir was surprised by Damien but nodded. A warm, bubbly feeling filled her up as she heard his words. Damien was her father, albeit her adoptive father. She had a family, and she was home. "Thank you...Father," she said, trying out the word on her tongue and hoping it didn't upset or startle him.

Aria was unsure whether to comfort Damien or laugh. "We are HAVING Syrins!" She said with the biggest smile possible. "And we'll have a babysitter. Muir was alone and swimming very well. I remember how hard it was for the two of us to be on our own so I had to take her in."
Aria's smile never wavered she was so happy and giddy and she kissed Damien on the cheek. "You'll be a great dad. You just have to help teach them how to swim and such. We'll be good parents. We have a house, and they already have beds." She gestured towards the four baskets that were on the floor. "I'll be right back and show Muir her room. Sadly she'll share it soon."
She hugged Damien and led Muir to one of the smaller rooms. It didn't have a blanket of seaweed but Aria was going to make one soon enough. "Here's your bed, Muir. If you have anything you can put them on these shelves. Are you hungry?"

Muir was pleased with her room, and didn't mind the thought of sharing it. "It's a very nice room, Mother. I like it. I caught a bit of dinner on the way home." She opened a bag she'd made herself to hold a few treasures she'd found on the reef and began placing them on the higher shelves, lest her curious future younger siblings decide to try to explore Muir's shelves.

Damien just swam around in small circles and kept raking his hand through his raven black hair. "She...called me father....and now babies..." Maybe he was just tired and then for this to be told to him.
"It's just so sudden..." He whispered still moving about with out a purpose. Finally the syrin went to the baskets and touched one of them looking it over with a serious gaze. "Aria sure worked hard on these..." The thought was whispered softly to the room. His eyes darkening with a calmer gentle glow wavered with emotion. He'd be a father....who'd of thought that?

Aria moved back to the kitchen and saw Damien admiring her baskets. She went over behind him and hugged him. "You have no idea how hard it was for me to make each one." She smiled and leaned on him eager to hear his tales of his scavenging and adventures.

Turning his gaze on Aria, Damien gave her a bright smile. "But the hard work is worth it, right?" His fingers trailed over the smooth surface of the basket and he sighed.
"I wish I could've been here sooner....and then you wouldn't of been alone in this." He whispered, his eyes distant in thought. Instead he'd been out in the seas adventuring basically carefree until he got into small troubles that is. But even the danger turned out to be fun to him and worthwhile were the prizes that he brought home with him.
Putting his arms around Aria's he pulled her down beside of him in an embrace. "You're a strong one aren't you?" He joked with a soft smile before kissing her.
After pulling back he used his right arm and pulled the basket back over towards them. "Still...I guess I should show you what I've brought back this time. Maybe a tale or two?" He finished trying his best to brighten back up.

Aria's worries seemed to fade with Damien's sigh. "It will be worth it when the babies come. Muir grew up pretty well. She's still a teen though."
Aria looked at him and smiled reassuringly. "Don't apologize for not being here. It's your job to do the scavenging. I can hunt and weave things." She laughed and kissed him back. "You've contributed to my strength. I always feel better when I'm around you."
She clapped gleefully, the child in her coming out. "A story would be great, so would seeing all the goods you've brought back."

"Aww..." Damien hugged Aria tightly before giving a small chuckle, "Thanks, love." It was then that he finally decided to get with the telling. First was the story of a group of syrins who were colored very brightly and acted together as a tribe or family. For the first part of their meeting, the group didn't know how to take Damien with his darker coloring.
Then as the day went by and after he had helped save a child syrin who had went out into too deep waters they had accepted him as a friend. That's where he got the colorful shell necklaces and the small holding bag with beads from. Then after leaving them there was the weird sea creature that he had been chased by. Even he didn't get a good glimpse at it..but it surely was unlike anything he'd ever seen. All he could say for sure was that it had menacing red eyes and sharp teeth.
Suddenly Damien paused and looked at Aria with a small smile, "Are you tired of this yet?" He asked with a laugh. "You know I sometimes talk on and on about these things without thinking."
