Silver Wingling freelance lover GuardianAngel44 Squireof the son freelance lover I typically see sin as anything interfering with a person's relationship with God MY OPINION: I don't think sin is something that keeps you from God ONLY . More of hurting or has the possibility of hurting people, or/and yourself. Sin does separate you from God though, but there's more to it than just that. knitting can become a sin. Just like any other activity. All that has to happen is you put it higher than God, and then it is worshipping an idol. (One of the ten commandments if I remember right.) My whole opinion on the matter is that it's the drive that makes it sinful the most, and it's worst when you put it higher than God. The act itself is never truly sinful. Mostly it's the drive behind it. Certain acts I believe is a sin, no matter the drive. And your not alone in this at all. I have trouble with it too. So, I don't know how much help I can be. But I hope I helped somewhat. smile How can you possibly worship KNITTING? I mean come on, it's sooooo boring. . . rolleyes rofl I actually laughed pretty hard at the idea of knitting becoming idol worship. At least, for me personally, knitting is a way of relieving any stress or frusteration I have, but also acts as a reflection time for me. It's a monotonous activity, so if I really tried it could be used as a meditation technique if you really want.
But as silly as it sounds- any activity can become sinful, I do agree. Most definatly. For example, pasta can also become a sin. Don't you mean pastamation? xd

Well I am a bible college student and in our Christian Thought class we had a large discussion on this and many other hot botton topics. The class decided that if you can do it without lust than by all means go ahead.
Personally, I would like to add this, the m word as some of you have called it, has probably been one of the only things that has kept me a virgin. I am 21 years old and I just found the girl of my dreams, I am proposing soon and marrying about next year. I dont see how masterbating is wrong if it is the thing stopping you from having sex. The bible is not clear on this at all. Technically if you really notice it has poligamy, and other such sex lives that are not good in it either. I am not saying ok marry a bunch of women and do them all, I am just saying that I think that it is ok if you can control your lust.

http://www.jackinworld.com/library/articles/onan.htmlhas addresses the one place in the bible that Masturbation is attributed to talked about, but then goes on to mention how it is not actually about it. The story of Onan. Now as I recall much of the problems are if one commits lust in ones heart. Ergo, one may surmise that, for it to be in ones heart, it would have to be something that one would do if given the opportunity in real life. Ergo, the masturbation may be okay, as long as it concerns fantasy that one would not in reality do if given the opportunity in real life.

Ooooh, I love this question! Not because of Perversion or anything like that but I like to answer this question.
Anyways, read Leviticus 15. That Chapter talks about Masterbation. What it says is that Masterbation is Unclean, a Defilement. It's not a sin though. It's natural for Humans to Materbate though. The only problem is that it is a Defilement. It's not Holy to Masterbate.
Once again: It's a Defilement, not a Sin.
But, what you were thinking about to help you Masterbate is a Sin. The tThoughts of Impurity is a Sin; Lusting for someone is a Sin. That's is what makes it a Sin.
In conclusion: Masterbation = Defilement, Impure Thoughts Evoking Masterbation = Sin.
F.Y.I.: Leviticus 15 also talks about the Women's Menstral Cycle as well. rofl Forgive me Sisters, I have sinned. mrgreen I apologized for my rudeness. Please forgive me.

I think it's not okay. I have heard from people have had problems with Masterbation and it can really wreck marriages. As for the virgin part, your lucky since people who masturbate are twice as likely to have sex before marriage. How Masturbation wrecks marriage? Well when people masturbate (especially guys) they most of the time think of a sexual image. Most guys who masturbate and think marriage is a solution is as wrong as people who marry to get away from problems at home. Girls don't like sex as often as guys and that is a fact. Guy receieve intimacy before or during sexual intercourse. Girls receive it through touching, sharing, hugging, and communicating deeply. Don't believe me? Ask a girl yourself and find the answer. Tyring to say you can control your sex drive through masturbation is like saying I can stop and 18-wheeler with a two hands. Not going to happend. The habit stays and it will stay until you get out of it. I'm in a struggle myself to get out of it because I feel so dirty after doing it. Some say they can masturbate without thinking dirty thoughts but the trick with that is not thinking lustful thoughts. It's best just to go cold turkey. The bible doesn't say anything about masturbation but it does say that we should walk in the steps of Jesus himself and be more like him. We can't do that if were in our solitude place jacking off and not turning our attention to the Almighty King of Kings, Lord of Lords. Here's some bible verses that explain we should be living sexual pure. (Sorry if I repeat some already said)
But I[Jesus] tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:28
For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arroganace, and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man "unclean." Mark 7:21-23
So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Romans 13:12-13
You are to abstain from...sexual immorality Acts 15:29
The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord 1Corinthinans 6:13

Honestly, it's hard for me to admit to this, but I used to do it as well (masturbate) it always left me feeling empty and wrong...Then why did I continue to do it? because its an addiction just like smoking or biting your nails. But like any other addiction, it can be broken...I've been "clean" for almost a month now, but only by the amazing strength of God. I agree with what someone posted on here earlier...its not "the act" thats the sin, its what causes you to do the act...if you are thinking about daisies and how amazing Jesus is the whole time your doing, then maybe its not sin...but something tells me thats not what you think about...so yea...just trust in God and He will deliver you, if you have a determined heart.

I had a plastic casket with candy bones inside,I honestly can't see where the Bible prohibits masturbation, and I'm sure the difference lies in the way peopel interpret it differently. Here's one easy way to do it: if you like it and don't feel that it's wrong, then I don't see why you shouldn't continue, especially not if God doesn't at all chastise you. Usually if you do something, though, and it leaves you with negative feelings, you ought to stop doing it. However, just because it makes you feel gross doesn't mean it's wrong for other people too.
Masturbation doesn't do a lot for me. I don't do it often, especially with sex as an alternative--and sex is better for sure, but I certainly don't feel wrong when I do it, or feel as though it's wrong for other people to masturbate. I put the skeleton together and it came to life.

Friendly Yoshi I think it's not okay. Masturbation can wreck marriages, but not because of the act itself. It's usually what leads to the masturbation, and how one's spouse interprets it. Obviously, it's a release for sexual frustration. I can imagine anyone would feel a little offended if they caught their partner masturbating, as it could easily be misunderstood as they are not very sexually satisfying. Not only that, but where there is masturbation, there is often (not always) pornography and, like you said, lustful thoughts. If I caught my husband looking at porn I'd be pretty upset that he was lusting after other women instead of looking only at me, and I'd feel insulted, offended, and a little hurt that he was turning to other sources to feel fulfilled in that way.
The only reason the statistics show that virgins who masturbate are more likely to have sex before marriage is not because masturbation causes premarital sex, but because people who masturbate are more likely to see no problem with casual sexual experiences or non-committal sexual experiences (and I don't mean just one-night stands necessarily). It has to do with the overall values of the person involved, not with the act itself.Quote: Most guys who masturbate and think marriage is a solution is as wrong as people who marry to get away from problems at home. Girls don't like sex as often as guys and that is a fact. Guy receieve intimacy before or during sexual intercourse. Girls receive it through touching, sharing, hugging, and communicating deeply. Honestly, if anyone is just looking for a little action, they aren't going to waste their time going through the motions of courting and marrying someone. They'll just go look for someone who is just as physically attractive to them who is willing to go to bed without a wedding ring. I don't think anyone sees marriage as a solution to sexual frustration. And let me tell you, girls can be just as sexually aggressive as guys, can enjoy it more, can even be the initiators (gasp!). Generally, guys are more sexually aggressive, but it doesn't mean they like sex more than girls. And guys can also be touchy-feely like girls when it comes to foreplay and sexual intimacy. You're basing all of your ideas on stereotypes- be very wary about that.Quote: Don't believe me? Ask a girl yourself and find the answer. Tyring to say you can control your sex drive through masturbation is like saying I can stop and 18-wheeler with a two hands. While it can be difficult, I wouldn't go so far as to agree with your little hyperbole there. It can actually perpetuate one's drive, but it might be easier to control than you think.
