Kyrin gave a sad smile to Jamie. ’My father could have had me declared dead.’ The statement was almost heart breaking for Kyrin. She could not imagine what it would be like if she had his kind of relationship with her father, she didn’t think she would be able to deal with it. Maybe that’s why she felt so attached to Jamie, because she wanted to be there for him, and she wanted to see him smile. Jamie was one of the few childhood friends that Kyrin had retained through the years. Although Izzy didn’t know it yet, her and Kyrin were no longer able to be friends. The war that Jaydn was talking about would surely occur if they kept on like they had. And Craig, he was not a friend of Kyrin, in her mind he did not exist. And Jace, Jace actually did not exist any longer except for in memories, and for this Kyrin was sad. Jamie, on the other hand, had stayed around her, even through her emotional break downs and awkward teenage years. Even through her cruel words to Ian and her obvious initial distaste for the other man. Kyrin tried hard to put herself in Jamie’s mind, but it was hard for her since she came from such a loving and giving household. The only hardships that had ever come about for her were those she contributed in making herself. She knew this now, her mistakes were no ones fault but her own. Kyrin was aware that she was growing as a person and knew that Nori and Jamie would help her greatly with this. Even though Jaydn didn’t seem to understand the use of an emotional support group, Kyrin valued her friends greatly. As Kyrin grew into her new place not being the leader or the mafia princess, she began to analyze her cousins and the other people around her and found Jaydn to be a very reclusive person. Although he was outwardly loud and confident, Kyrin knew he was hurting, but about what, she didn’t know. Jaydn was all business now, he wasn’t the playful child she used to know him as. Pulling herself from her thoughts, she sighed and hugged Jamie, as much for her benefit as for his. Her hug was warm, loving. ”I wont let him get you.” She whispered softly against his shoulder.

Jamie was not initially responsive to her kindness, or her embrace. He had retreated back into his mind, cold, calculating, assessing risks and escape routes if any were necessary. He hoped against hope they wouldn't send someone else, or if they did, it would be Frankie or someone else who was on Jamie's side in the end. The group he had come from, the city he had lived in most of his life, as much as they could work together, the families had only been united for a little over a decade, there was still a distinction between every faction, and they only worked together under the orders of their respective leaders. Jamie knew this, and he knew which underlings and which bosses would help him, and which would bring him back, kicking, screaming, or dead. So an escape route was necessary, so he could draw them away from Kyrin and Nori, when it became necessary to protect his own. He would kill for them, he was more than capable of it. Depending on who they sent, he would be eager to kill for his friends. "And they won't touch you." He finally responded to her, after a long moment.

Nori watched Kyrin and Jamie's exchange a bit somberly. It was not just a hug between friends, but also a hug between people ready to fight for each other. The dangerous side of the mafia was a deffinite reality check that this lifestyle wasn't all peaches and cream. Nori had found what he had wanted in the first place: friendship. But he worried that he may never be able to actually defend it... Hopelessness seemed to be a reacurring feeling lately, and there wasn't much he could do about it. Nothing but keep his head down and let the big dogs take care of it. He didn't like the feeling at all. Jamie didn't even have another family to turn to, but was still willing to defend Kyrin and himself... He ruffled his hand through his hair."I know I can't really help at all, but ..." but what? What can I do for them? "But I'll always try to take care of you! I mean, ...that's all I really know how to do, so ..." Embarassing. His declaration was a bit weak in comparison to theirs, but he meant it, no matter how cheesey it sounded. The simmer of the curry became more audible, and Nori turned around to check on it. "Ah, it's almost done." Perfect timing for him to hide the embarassment on his face.

Jamie stood and hugged Nori from behind. There was definite, overwhelming desire to do something more, but he stopped himself, they didn't have that kind of relationship, at all. "Thank you, Nori. Sometimes, I think we need that more than anything, someone to take care of us." He meant it, too. Jamie knew he wasn't all that good at taking care of himself, but he loved that there was someone who cared enough to help him. He let his head rest on Nori's shoulder, and looked at the food he was making. "Looks spectacular." Jamie smiled, and let go of the younger boy, so that Nori could finish with dinner.

Nori was slowly stirring the curry, when he had to surpress a squeak as he was suddenly embraced. Eh?! What was this? This hug felt different from the last ones. He listened to Jamie's voice that was so close to his ear and didn't reply. There was no way he could refute a compliment. When Jamie moved his head over nori's small shoulders, the sensation of Jamie's hair on his bare neck sent a wave off goosebumps down his spine. Wh-what is he doing? Is this okay?! His face was so hot it felt like a fever. " Uh-uhm! Thanks..." When Jamie let go, Nori looked desperatly over to Kyrin, in a "What do I do?!" sort of way. He quickly returned his face to the curry, hoping to be distracted from these feelings.

Jamie’s words made Kyrin feel content. Kyrin didn’t really fear for her life as much as she did his, but she was glad to know that he would protect her if things came down to it. And with all her might she would fight for him. When Nori began to talk, Kyrin noticed his sadness again, something that seemed to be reoccurring lately. Kyrin knew that Nori would be there to take care of them, Nori would take care of anyone who let him care for them, but the fact that when he said it he was so hesitant made Kyrin wonder. I should have talked to Jamie in private about this. She thought, coming to the conclusion that the only reason Nori felt uncomfortable was because of what they were talking about. When Nori turned back to the food, Kyrin could smell the curry; it did smell good. As Jamie stood and wrapped his arms around Nori again that day Kyrin knew in her heart that it was Nori’s hugs, rather then hers, that made Jamie feel the happiest. She was not upset by this thought, but more understanding in how Jamie’s mind seemed to work. And as Nori turned and gave her a look of confusion, she noticed that his face was beet red, it was no longer the slight shade of pink that it had been earlier, and she had to refrain from giggling. She was glad that Nori turned around, because as he did, a smile touched her lips.

From the moment Charles had come within view of the twins, he had not said a word, not to Levi or Maddox, or even Miles when he arrived in the small group’s circle. Things that morning had been particularly smooth, so he was in a good mood, and he wasn’t sure that he would be able to seem like a big aggressive man if he said hello. He knew that his voice would give him away. So as he had approached, he’d hardened his features and resolved to not talk. The twins were curious to him. Caiden seemed out spoken, very confident in himself, and Riley seemed more confident in his brother then he was in himself. Since he was not involving himself in their conversation, he studied the two of them. Caiden seemed to be doing his best to keep the attention of those that approached them, while Riley surveyed their surroundings. A good way to keep safe. Charles commended them for the tactic but made no show of any emotion on his face. When Maddox came into the group Charles almost faltered in his façade. Drink orders!? Is he serious? Charles liked Maddox pretty well, they got along, and had quite a few intellectual talks, but he was very curious as to why the Matsui gene pool had forsaken Maddox. He lacked nearly all of the Matsui confidence and self assurance. It was good and all that Maddox was kind, unlike his brothers, but he took it to the extent that you wondered what actually went through his mind. Charles watched the twins size up each person that walked towards them and noticed with interest that Caiden seemed to be interested in Levi as he looked over their weapons. Charles actually quite liked working with Levi when his accomplice wasn’t around. Now that Xavier had left, the number of pranks seemed to decrease, if only slightly, and it made Levi someone that Charles didn’t mind working with. As Caiden’s focus was on Levi and Maddox though, he seemed to miss Miles until he showed up close. Charles followed the curious eyes of Riley to the elevator where he noticed that Jaydn was having a conversation with Miles. When he sent Miles over, Charles was curious as to why Jaydn didn’t come himself, but figured that the other man had good reason for it. Charles nodded to Miles as he approached and listened to his words. At them, the twins seemed to get restless, wanting to move the process along. I wonder if they are hiding something? Charles thought, but as he watched them, he saw a bit of his kids in them. Simply wanting something other then standing around to do. So they might be like Miles, always needing to keep occupied with something… The thought rested on his mind, but his thoughts were broken when his phone vibrated in his pocket. Damn. He knew that he couldn’t ignore the phone call and excused himself as briefly as he could. He nodded to the group as he pulled his phone from his pocket, ”Excuse me.” He said. Picking up the phone as he walked away, he said, ”Charles here.” And then he nearly exploded with anger, ”They did what!? I’m on my way.” Making his way hurriedly to the elevator, he entered one that was nearly leaving.

Miles watched the way Riley curiously observed him and appreciated the way he looked suspecting. He should be. Anyways, it was good to stay on the toes, even in a place believed to be friendly. "Right this way. You can come as well, Levi." Considering Levi was keeping track of their weapons, he ought to come along. Miles didn't ignore the way Charles seemed to have bolted off, but he wasn't going to draw attention to it when there were other things at hand. Miles trusted that whatever the emergency, Charles could probably handle it. He walked to the elevator, letting whomever was behind him follow, and lead them to the second floor office. He knocked twice, waiting for approval to enter.

Levi bounced up to his feet, still carrying the guns, and followed Miles. "Right-o." He did want to know what was going on, even with Charles, but, all things considered, the twins were the most interesting thing going on in the building at the moment. He hoped that Charles was going to be alright, he thought he was nice, much less intimidating than he looked. He didn't like, however, that he had no one to goof off with, everyone had left. He would have to find someone with his energy, besides his girlfriend, since he couldn't bring her to the building. On that train of thought, he wondered if he would be able to get the next evening off to see her. She was understanding about his work, but he liked to be able to see her as often as possible, they were still in that honeymoon stage where they wanted to spend every waking moment together.

Kyrin hanging up on Jaydn had spoiled the rather cheerful disposition that his ride around the city had given him. Now, sitting at his desk reviewing briefly the Flynn brothers' folder, he gave a second thought as to whether or not he should have told Kyrin to join him on his interview with the twins. As if summoned by his thoughts, a knock on his office door interrupted the silence of the room. Placing the manila folder in a nearby drawer, he answered, "It's open."
The open door revealed first the twin men Jaydn had gotten a glimpse of earlier. Upon closer inspection, he realized that their hair, perceived to be dark before and assumed as brown, had, in fact, a reddish hue. They were tall and seemingly fit, they wouldn't be limited by physical capabilities if Jaydn required more 'hands-on' work from them. It went without say that appearance-wise, they would make the average person believe that he needed to have his vision checked but Jaydn was skeptical. They can't be exactly alike. Sure enough, after his grey eyes performed their routine scan of newcomers, he saw it: An eyebrow piercing on one that was not on the other.
Storing the information for later use, he returned his attention to who else accompanied the twins. It was not that he feared for his own safety, he was quite capable of defending himself, but rather that he understood his men would be curious of potential members and he was indulgent of their interest. Coming in after the Flynn brothers entered Levi. Jaydn had to admit that he was glad of Levi's recent change of hair color. While the bright colors reflected the man's personality well, it also was a cause of distraction and a mark of recognition. Levi did his job well though, having always done whatever Jaydn needed of him when they had been the Coyotes, and so Jaydn gave no mind to however their master of disguise wanted to express himself.
After Levi was Miles who closed the door behind him once he was in the room. Jaydn would have been surprised if Miles had not shown up, knowing the interest the man had in the Flynn brothers from when they had spoken on the first floor.
Once given the privacy of an isolated room and gesturing for his guests to take a seat, Jaydn stood behind his desk, giving a nod of acknowledgement to those who came into his office. "Good day. I apologize for the wait. I trust my men have acquainted themselves with you. I'm sure you've come to realize who I am but just in case, I am Jaydn." He spoke these words with an impassive expression but a dull rehearsed tone, speaking only subtly stronger when introducing himself. Now seating himself, he continued, "Now that we have gotten past the formalities, I'd like to know more about you if you wouldn't mind. I'm sure Kyrin has spoken to you concerning our search for someone who knows the ins and outs of the city, seeing as how we are fairly new to the area. I am curious however as to why you seem to be interested in us?" Jaydn paused for the smallest of moments before adding in as an afterthought, holding his right hand out to the twins as he asked, "Also, if you'd be so kind as to tell me who is who?"

Riley stayed quiet for the short trip up the elevator, standing so that his arm was just touching Caiden’s. If Caiden noticed, he didn’t make a move to show it, but Riley was sure he was aware. He watched his brother on the way up. He saw Caiden tense slightly but he knew that Caiden was feeling the same rush of excitement that he was. When they exited and were led down the hall, Riley looked around, taking it all in. The interior was just as well done up as the exterior and anyone who didn’t know better wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. The voice the emitted from inside the room was hinted with a Japanese accent. The one that Maddox had had been heavier, but it unmistakably present within this man’s voice as well. The room they entered was well lit. A dark wood desk sat in the middle, near the back of the office. In a wide half circle, four large cushioned chairs sat in front of the desk. A small frig was near the door, as well as a rather large book self, full to its capacity. Riley wondered at the books that the shelf held, but knew that he didn’t have time to look. The room seemed really well organized despite the large size of the office. There were a couple small things that seemed to give the office a more homey feel, Riley noted as he noticed the landscape pictures that lined the wall. He must be in here a lot. He thought as he and Caiden approached the desk. When Jaydn began to speak, Riley was almost taken a back by how fake he seemed to be with his apologies, but he did not show this on his face. Caiden had been the first of the two brother’s to enter the room and once the formalities were finished and Jaydn had properly introduced himself. Caiden stepped up to accept Jaydn’s hand. ”My name is Caiden Flynn.” After this, he stepped back. Riley stepped forward now and grasped Jaydn’s hand as well. His hand shake matched that of Caiden’s as he said, ”Riley Flynn. Nice to finally meet you.” And when he stepped back he turned to his brother, waiting for him to answer. Caiden’s answer to Jaydn’s curiosity was simple, blunt almost, ”We need a job and something like this would suit us well. We can stay inside a city we know well and do something that doesn’t consist of menial labor. We aren’t much fond of sitting behind a desk anymore. We did that and are done with it.”

After the group around him dispersed, Maddox dropped by the front desk. He had thought about going along with the group but Jaydn had spoke with him earlier, asking that Maddox come into the room later on. He was also requested to speak only in Japanese when he went in, Maddox realizing the reasoning behind the request. So Jaydn wanted to see whether or not the Flynn brothers would understand them. Maddox had given a sigh then, thinking that perhaps his brother was going a bit overboard with his suspicions but at the same time understanding that it was simply the only way the mafia heir could possibly allow himself to think. Speaking to the man at the desk, Maddox asked, “Could you please send Johnson and Nguyen up to Jaydn’s workroom? Thank you.”
Receiving confirmation from the man, Maddox made his way towards the elevators, his throat beginning to feel scratchy from lack of refreshment. Stepping into the just arriving elevator, nodding slightly to the people which already inhabited the space, he pushed the button marked ‘16’. A good portion of the people within the elevator cleared out by the time Maddox reached his destined floor.
Walking down the hallway towards the kitchen, Maddox shuffled the papers from one arm to the other. Passing through the doorway, he found Kyrin, Nori and someone whom he didn’t recognize within the kitchen already, the sultry scent of spices wafting throughout the air. ”Hello Kyrin. Good day Nori. Hope you are well.” Maddox turned to face the stranger, curious about his presence and what his business was here. Typically, strangers would not be seen this far up into the building, it would be a horrible safety hazard for them to be able to wander freely up the building. That must mean that someone brought him here. He was a thin man, appearing the least bit threatening, but his eyes pierced through the distance between him and Maddox. Holding out a hand to the stranger, Maddox gave him a smile, ”Hello. My name is Maddox. I am pleased to meet you.” There seemed to be no reason for them to be unfriendly with one another, Kyrin and Nori seemed comfortable enough with the blue eyed man’s presence, and so the soft-voiced Matsui man would give this stranger kindness, something it seemed that the person was missing out on.

Jamie looked up from his seat at the table and gave Maddox a slight smile. He saw no apparent reason to dislike the man, or mistrust him in any way. "James. A pleasure, Maddox." He took the offered hand and held is briefly in a firm handshake. The movement belied his appearance, showed the grace and strength he had built up working for his own family. It was a good act to gain the trust of the people in this building, he didn't want to get Kyrin in any trouble for bringing him here. Still, though, Jamie glanced to Kyrin and Nori, judging the way they acted around this Maddox character.

"Oh, hello Maddox!" Nori was a bit relieved for an opportunity to bring his face away from the stovetop. Turning off the burner, Nori turned around and gave a warm smile. Although work hindered their circumstance for conversation, Nori had always liked Maddox for the fact that he and Charles had both been very hospitable. Besides that, Maddox always seemed very precise and peaceful, almost like a kindred spirit. After Jamie's introduction Nori nodded. "He's a friend of ours." He knew that Maddox may not mind Jamie being there, but noone could say about Jaydn. Speaking of which, "Oh! And dinner is done by the way!" Nori rested his backside against the counter and pulled on his hair habitually. " You'll probably see Jaydn and the others before they wander this way, so if you happen to see them, can you tell them? I mean, if it's no trouble. "

Kyrin watched the exchange between them and a smile crept across her face. She stood from her place at the dining table and moved to where Maddox were standing. ”My cousin.” She said softly to James, before turning to Maddox. She eyed the stack of paper in his arms, ”Can’t ever just go somewhere? Huh? A stack of paper is like a security blanket to you isn’t it?” Although she poked fun, she smiled warmly at Maddox. The new place was a good change of pace for everyone, it seemed, with things to do they had less time to cause drama amongst themselves. Kyrin was included in this. She had work to do as well and less time to think idly. After Nori finished what he was saying, Kyrin shook her head and laughed a little. Nori always went out of his way not to cause others trouble. In that respect he was very much like Maddox. Timid yet curious. Like a little mouse. Kyrin thought before speaking, ”I want to see Jaydn anyway,” She turned to Maddox, ”You stay and rest a bit. I will fetch him.” And with that she excused herself and started off down the hall.
