Youkochylde Quote: Well, the nursery here is done! Envy has now repeatedly joked that i'm 'nesting', but I can't help it! We have everythign we need now... blankets, diapers, onesies, clothes, toys, books, wipes, lotion, powder, bottles, formula, receiving blankets, cloth diapers (Go mom, for clueing me in that these things are better than ANY spit cloth), and just about anything else a baby needs. Now we're just missing one thing. The baby. However, don't tell Karma I said that or she'll attempt to make ME carry it to term. --Youko

Kamiki At you next doctor's visit, Kamiki performs an ultrasound and lets you listen to the baby's heartbeat. It sounds fine to you - you don't really know whats normal and whats not. However, Kamiki looks a bit concerned. She tells you that the heartbeat sounds a bit irregular - perhaps a murmer. But don't fret too much... its relatively common in babies. Come back in a week and she says she'll run another Ultrasound to see if it has improved or worsened.
As for Karma herself, she seems to be growing bigger and bigger by the day... and her appetite is as weird and strong as ever!

karma_k Dear Diary, Quote: Scientists have said, time and time again, that there cannot exist such a thing as a bottomless pit. Such a thing is physically impossible. Well, call Ripley's Believe It Or Not because I've proven, without a doubt, that such a thing exists. And for some reason, said anomaly has decided to take up residence in the place that once was my stomach. I cannot stay full...it doesn't matter WHAT I'm eating. I tried to stay pretty healthy about it at first. My body demanded gooey caramel, so I'd try to appease it with honey on toast. Then after that, I decided "Screw it" and I went for broke with every calorie-laden treat you can imagine. My body demanded, I supplied. And its STILL not good enough!! I'm creeping up to being fifteen pounds heavier than I was when I started this pregnancy. Dave says its not noticeable....so does Youko....but I think both of them fear for the safety of their dangly bits after the "anchovy incident" as Youko has decided to call it. To make it worse, forget about sleeping on my belly anymore. Its either back, or side for me. I feel like a fugging blimp. Is this normal this soon into things?? I heard rumors of one of the other poor women who visited this clinic for her pregnancy who was growing too big much too fast and...ended up laying an egg. I'm not going to do that, I hope. I've just talked my lower region into the fact that pushing out a baby is a normal process...and now its slammed shut and hung up a "Gone Fishin'" sign at the thought of having to birth an egg. I had my first follow-up appointment with Dr. Kamiki yesterday since all of this happened. She told me that the baby was far-enough along that we could successfully perform an ultrasound and check the baby's heartbeat to make sure everything was going all right thus far. Of course, I agreed to this....what sort of mother would honestly tell a doctor "NO! I don't want to know if my baby's alive! SURPRISE ME!"? It was a very compromising position she had me in...mind you, the last time someone smeared jelly on my stomach and told me to lay still while they moved a big rod-shaped object over my lower belly, I think was on Dave's and my two year anniversary.... At any rate, she found a heartbeat after a moment and let me listen to it. It was different from the sound your heart makes through a stethoscope...it sounded a little watery and metallic, but still....that was quite an experience. Hearing my baby's heartbeat for the first time...I could feel tears welling up in my eyes. It was such a beautiful moment for me....all the stress, all the yelling, all the threats...for a minute, none of that mattered. I could have stayed in that moment forever honestly, had I not looked up at Dr. Kamiki, meaning to ask her how long it would be before we could find out a gender and seen the look on her face. The look that said "Something's wrong but I'm really trying not to let you know about it." When I asked what was going on, she told me that the heartbeat sounded a little irregular. Irregular??? She immediately said it wasn't uncommon at this stage and I should come back in a week to see if its gotten better or not. Rrgh....no sleep for me tonight, I hope the baby's going to be okay. I told Youko about all of it when I finally got home...about five minutes before I asked him to go pick up my pizza that was waiting for me at Old Chicago. He didn't seem entirely worried...I guess that means I should calm down too. An irregular heartbeat is better than none at all... --Karma

"Urf...dammit!" Karma cursed from within the bedroom.
"What's wrong?" Dave asked, poking his head around the corner to find out what was troubling his fiancee. The foxcoon sighed, looked over her shoulder and gave him a piteous look.
"My world is over..." she whimpered.
"What's the matter?? Are you okay??" Dave scuttled into the bedroom and put his hands on her shoulders. She sighed and turned to face him....and Dave found himself biting his tongue to keep from laughing as the pathetically comical sight presented itself.
"I chubbed out of my Happy Tree Friends shirt...." she sniffled, looking down at the visage of Giggles which was disfigured and stretched by her swollen tummy. Dave could hold it back no more and let out a donkey bray of laughter, putting his hands up to shield himself from the incoming slap that connected with his shoulder. "OH SHUT UP!!" she demanded.
"Sorry...I just..." he choked on a snicker. "M-Maybe you should call the doctor. You seem like you're ballooning out a lot quicker than you should be..."
"You're supposed to be reassuring me that I didn't lose my figure, you oaf." she snorted.
"You didn't lose it...you just....modified it!" Dave offerd, grinning. "Now its a nice pear-shaped figure!"
He didn't know quite what happened next, only that he woke up on the floor of the bedroom with a large lump on the side of his head and that his fiance was nowhere to be seen.
...was it something he said?

envy_fairchylde Envy pushed the door open slowly and peered around it. He hadn't been inside the nursery since it was finished but it had that sweet smell of lotion and baby powder most people associated with little ones. The incubus wrinkled his nose and rubbed at the itch that suddenly filled it. He wasn't surprised about the off beat color scheme. He expected no less from his love. Nothing about Youko was ordinary, and the same was true for Karma. "I bet the same will be true for you, little one," he whispered out loud. "s**t.... Now I'm talking to myself," Envy shook his head and placed the crystal ball in an open spot on the dresser with a note. Once upon a time, there were great mages known as Tayledras...

Youkochylde Smiling softly, Youko watched Envy place the trinket and go. He slipped in just after him, letting his fingers run over the smooth glass. He was VERY happy that Envy had come around and was accepting this pregnancy better now. He could hardly wait. Everything was ready, now they just needed the baby. He was worried about Karma, however... she was growing VERY fast, and he remembered hearing what happened to Sunny when that had been a factor. Then again.. he was pretty sure that there was NOTHING in his lineage or Karma's that laid eggs. Youko decided that maybe he needed to go and see Karma for a while. She wasn't happy with how she looked right now, and his jewels were still aching from the anchovy incident. But maybe he was a glutton for punishiment. He picked up a small basket that he'd gotten at the mall earlier that week... Hickory Farms was a wonderful thing, and guaranteed to put him in her good graces. When in doubt... bring food.

Kamiki Karma is on her way to the kitchen one early evening when a sudden jolt of pain doubles her over. She tries to just shrug it off, but another wave hits her suddenly and she feels her water break. While there is no "set" pregnancy time in Gaia - the magic levels effect every individual differently - it certainly seems too soon for this to be happening now...

Karma froze after the pains had passed, feeling warm wetness trickle down her legs and clenched her eyes shut, her cheeks burning with shame.
Great...on top of everything else, now she'd wet herself. She couldn't even go and make herself a sandwich to try and calm down after Dave's jackassed remarks without something going wrong ><;;
"Annhh!!" she cried out through gritted teeth as another pain took her and a cold dread filled her chest.
She hadn't wet herself...that was her water breaking...
she was...
"Oh s**t...!" she whimpered, half-limping, half-staggering out of the kitchen toward the living room, crying out for Dave and at the same time reaching for the phone.
Her husband-to-be emerged looking disheveled and groggy from his previous encounter with her.
"Whuh...?"
"The baby's coming!!" she whimpered. Dave's eyes went wide and he froze as she gave a frustrated growl at him for being useless and grabbed up the reciever to dial the clinic.

Youkochylde Youko knocked ont he door idly, holding the basket in his arm and tapping his foot as he glanced aroudn the yard. He wasn't expecting the door to open that quickly... or to be grabbed by the arm and forcibely dragged into the house. "Get int here and help her!" Dave looked a bit ragged, a phone upside-down against one ear as he pointed wildly towards the kitchen. "Oh come on, I know she's a bit ravenous lately, but she's not going to eat YOU." Youko snickered, padding off... then heard the yell. Oh crap..."KARMA?!" The basket hit the floor and he darted towards her, moving to try and help her to sit. "Now?? Are you sure it's now?"

Kamiki Kamiki picked up the phone and her brows creased with worry as she heard the commotion. It was definately too early...and Karma hadn't even had time to check up on her baby since their last visit....
She tried to sound calm and professional and told them she's meet them at the hospital. She headed over herself.
At the hospital, the doctors inform Karma thats she's dialating fast and it won't be long.

"What do you mean am I sure?? What the hell does it look like??" the foxcoon snapped, near-feral in panic and most likely giving the poor receptionist on the other end of the line a horrible startle as she picked up and didn't even get through her "Good morning you have reached GMFC how may I direct your call today?" shpiel.
Another pain shot through her belly, making her near double over. This was much too soon...she'd never been pregnant before, she didn't know what the gestation period was supposed to be for a fox or a raccoon, but some inner voice told her it shouldn't be happening yet.
"I......need to talk to Dr. Kamiki....or Dr. Rik" she said as calmly and measuredly as she was able, sounding more like a hissing tea kettle. The receptionist quickly put her on hold to transfer her call as she stood there, panting, sweat starting to mat her brow.
...and then turned to see Youko and Dave still standing there doing nothing.
"GO. START. THE. CAR!!!!!! DO I LOOK LIKE I'M BAKING BROWNIES??" she barked at them both.

Youkochylde Snatching the phone, Youko snarled right back at her. "No, but that bun you've got looks about overdone. Get your a** in the car, woman, I'll take care of this." The trip to the hospital was... well... hideous. Between Karma's barking, Dave's hunched over driving and Youko suddenly having the spontaneous growth of a spine...

Everything...the ride to the hospital, the being ushered into the clinic delivery room, and being situated...was a complete blur.
Karma didn't remember much of any of it. Only that the doctors, in their brief visits between attending to other things until the labor began in earnest had told her she was dilating and it should be soon.
It was like someone had placed her in an invisible vice that was slowly constricting on her midsection. It wasn't the agonizing pain that they glorified in the movies, but good GOD was it uncomfortable.
Coupled with the fact that she was terrified at the premature labor, and the foxcoon wasn't in very good shape at all as she tried her best to ride out the contractions without panicking.
One thought stood out above the rest of the commotion...
~Please...let the baby be okay...~

Youkochylde Youko moved alongside the bed, clinging to Karma's hand as best he could and nearly snapping at a nurse to bring him some damp cloths so that he could try and alleviate the sweat that was coating her brow. He curled up alongside her, trying to help as best he could. Scared wasn't the word. This was WAY too soon, Youko had never actually been to a birth before, and thigns were happening so fast. He knew he was probably going to be in pain before the end of this. Not necessarily from anything major... just from when Karma killed him for doing this to her.

Kamiki Kamiki rushes into Karma's room when she gets there, but this was beyond her control at this point. She watched, reassuring Karma and trying to get a straight answer from the hospital doctors.
Its not long before Kamiki comes over to Karma and tells her its time to start pushing...
