Maybe you should make it so that they need to respond in 2 minutes otherwise they are disqualified.

Who knows, there might be quite some hard questions out there that are hard to find...?

All of this is so exciting! It's so well organized with the try-outs and rules and such.

For hard questions, do you mean finding the actual question to ask on the net or finding the answers on the net, because both shouldn't be permitted during the game. It's cheating (well, not so much for the act of finding the questions on the net, but you know what I mean).

Also, I'll have to disagree with the two minute limit. We all have lives outside the guild, and we can't all watch the thread like a hawk and/or refresh the page every five seconds to see if someone's going our way. There's also the fact that I don't really want to run for my life when nature calls because I'm afraid I might miss a question.

Oh my! Publicity! Publicity! Publicity! Thank you moderators, and anyone else, who have helped to get the word out! This is excellent! We're getting a boom of involvement! 4laugh heart

A time limit, I'm afraid, is something I'm going to have to decline since is has already been heavily considered. Yes, this too has been considered in the past.

Garnet has stated fairly well my opinion on a time limit. Participants are already going to be limited by time, and I don't want to place any more pressure on the players than they already have. Ooo! And disqualification is a little "harsh." >< Well, if they took an hour, disqualification would make sense, but not answering in two minutes? . . . Nah.

Yes, I assure you there will be questions that are hard to answer, but THAT's why the questions are multiple choice, and you have practices! True, it will mostly be basic knowledge that will get you through the game, but having multiple choice questions should make life just a tad easier. Though practices are mostly to help you create questions, it should help to sharpen your answering skills too.

Of course I've thought about the potential problem of people taking WAY too long to answer questions. I assure you that Madame Hooch will keep tabs on how long things are taking, and take the proper procedures to get people moving!

I'm glad to see you guys are so observant! You're picking apart every little detail, and that's wonderful! Thank you!

I can't honestly think of a way we could stop people from "Googling" answers. There's no way we would know about it if someone did, and it's bound to happen. But the risk of cheating has been prominent in alot of the Quidditch details. We've added lots of "security" procedures and rules to cut this down as much as we possibly can, but it's always going to be a risk factor. If there are definite signs of cheating which can be proven, the person(s) responsible will be eliminated from the team, or proper punishments will be given.

In all honesty, cheating cannot be avoided, so it's something us honest people are going to have to deal with. I wish I could say that we could ensure that NO ONE participating is going to cheat, but this is literally impossible.

NOTE THAT CHEATING IS HIGHLY DISCOURAGED, AND YOU WILL SHUNNED FOREVER IN THE EYES OF MADAME HOOCH SHOULD YOU BE CAUGHT IN ANY ACTS WHICH OPPOSE THE RULES! BE YE WARNED! (Lol!)

*Shrugs* We're doing the best we can. 3nodding

Ah! Concerning Leaders/Mods: They, too, are welcome to play! I would like everyone to know that Madame Hooch will show NO prejudice in selecting the Team Captains. If a moderator, leader, or someone of "higher" position gets the role of Captain, it's only because they've proven to Madame Hooch that they can Captain a Quidditch team! CAPTAINS ARE NOT SELECTED BY GUILD STATUS, but by STATUS OF CHARACTER! 3nodding

Thank you for the comments! heart I know I didn't use quotes at all in this post, but there were just too many! I hope this covers everything so far! ^^

(I was unable to get on at ALL during the afternoon! SO much HOMEWORK!)

Thanks guys!

Question: I realize, of course, that Googling an answer would be total crap and would make it really easy to find answers (unless they're super obscure). With that in mind, how do you feel about having a stack of books next to the computer to maybe use as a reference for questions that you ask, or that other people ask?

That I will allow.

However "cheatful" (LOLZ! Odd word sprouted from my mind! X3) it may be to use the books as referrence, I look at it this way: It will be alot harder to find answers from the books, and it requires a little effort to do so. 3nodding

If anyone disagrees, feel free to share your feelings/opinion with us! ^^

Here's a quick suggestion, although it's probably just common sense. If we do have a stockpile of back-ups, anyone of which a captain can choose during a game, I think there should be a rule that the captain can't pick a player from the opponent's team unless they are the only back-up available. Can you imagine if in a Slytherin/Gryffindor match, the Gryffindor captain called in a Slytherin, and the Slytherin won them the game? Or, for the truly loyal, if they purposefully lost the game?

Just a reminder that I want EVERYONE to tryout for Quidditch! We need all of you to make ravenclaw the greatest team!

We will also earn house points if we have the most people try out, so come support Ravenclaw!

Come check out the tryout thread here!

You can see the general tryout thread here, and I hear they've got some sort of elixir to help satisfy quidditch cravings, but all Ravenclaws can get their Quidditch fix trying out! The mascots of the other houses are earthboud - only we take the skies, so I need all of you to help us take the Quidditch cup!

Quick question:
Once a question has been asked and an answer presented, how would the questioner format the response? Does this make any sense?

Have you talked to LadyHealingHands about incorporating Quidditch into the House Points for House Cup? Do you think we should do that?
