Ughh. I really wanna read that Spootay essay and give her a peice of my mind. It just makes me so mad when I see people say things like that. >.< Especially since she claimed she would be 'un-biased' and then trashed everything Zutara and put everything Kataang on a pedistal.

Edit: I've responded to the stuff on the first season. xP God, I wnated to scream. I think I managed to keep reasonably leve-headed, though.
I'll reply to the season two stuff later. Too tired/angry to do it now. Augh, I know. I left my own two cents in there as well to support you. I'm the anonymous one, since I don't have a LiveJournal.
And you're right, you were very level-headed ^^ She however, well, it seems as if everything she tries to type ends in an insult. It seemed like most of the time she was talking down to you. It aggrevates me so much when people do that, especially when they're doing it to my friends. If she even tries to rag on me for 'being nosy and putting myself in her conversations(she's done it once before)...Oh, I'll be mad. I'm just trying to defend my friend and my beliefs. If she tries to beat me down for that...
It won't work.

I dunno. At first her comics stinged me a little. Then after a while, I just felt kind of immune. Kind of like scorpion poison exposure O:

Indeed. Katara is not obligated to love Aang. (as I've said to Spootay)And nor has she thus far given me ANY solid evidence that she returns the feeling.
She's had the chances, that she has. But when it comes down to it? It's just a kiss on the cheek, or an uncomfortable glance to the side.
And imagine that, Mike and Bryan portray ACTUAL human emotion in the show...and wouldn't you know, unrequitted love qualifies as such an emotion! *le gasp*
Just because Aang is the main character does not make him immune to heartbreak.

Heartbreak is part of growing up. Aang always relied on Katara for support for a long time. Once he lets go of her, Aang can truly grow up and master the Avatar State to end the war once and for all.
About Spootay... Just ignore her. The arguing is, excuse me, pointless. You cant change her views and she can't change yours. Remember we'll have the last laugh if Zutara becomes canon :3

When it comes to fandom, I try not to be biased when I look at things from the other shipper's perspective. Kataang is cool, I can see why people ship Kataang, it's beautiful and epic. But I'm way into Zutara and Taang to ship it x)

I've been into Zutara and Avatar since December '06. Hahah, yeah... xD
I've only been aware of the whole shipping war since May now. I mean, wow. Whew. Brutal, man.
Don't put all of the created hostility on one fandom's shoulders. It's all of us. I can sort of understand Kataang's anger towards the Zutara ship.
Zutara is the most popular and defended ship on Avatar. I mean, if you type in Zutara on DA, you'll get 10,000 results. If you type in Kataang, you'll only get 2,000 results. Even though, this doesn't really matter, you can sort of grasp a Kataanger's frustration on why is this ship, which is practically five steps away from crack, the most popular and appealing ship evar.
Heck, even I don't know. But I still love it.
It probably angers the Kataangers even more that Zutara is slowly posing a threat to them in terms of canon XD
Spootay isn't the most savage of the shippers. One of the most, but not the most. She's an okay person once you get pass the Avatar stuff. I personally like her Looney Tunes art. It's just her burning passion for the elimination of all Zutara and Zutarians that kinda draws me away D:

I can see why Kataang shippers like their pair...It is epic, it's the classic epic-hero epic-romance type thing...
But everytime I try to consider those two as a couple I get bogged down with the fact that Katara seems to not reciprocate what Aang feels for her! It gets me everytime, even when I'm really down on my Zutarian life force.

And yes, Zutara... the dynamic, the chemistry, the possiblities! It's that element of overcoming a great deal in terms of emotion and obstacles to come to something beautiful, romantic and...almost as epic as Kataang!

It is really interesting to see numbers like that. And yeah, I guess I can see how that would be shocking, in the least. I don't know how it happened for me either, but when it clicked, boy, did it click!
Yeah, you're probably right about Spootay, but it still doesn't excuse her behavior. Thing is, I've noticed how the shipwar works on Deviant art...She submits one of her Wanksterpiece comics, then other Kataangers see it, get revved up, and think it's cool to submit more anti-Zutara pieces, often childish taunts attatched to a screenshot of Zuko and Katara fighting. Then the cycle moves on to Zutarian defense and retaliation, so yes, I will also admit that our ship is guilty of this warfare too. But Twice, I've seen this cycle. and it Starts with Spootay.
If anything, she's the most active Anti-Zutarian around these parts of the internet.
