Cassidy frowned. "Uh, hello." This guy was a doctor? And he was responsible for this mess?
"Yeah. I had some questions." She ticked them off on her fingers. "Why me, for your experimental serum combination? Is this even safe? And, while I'm at it, I should probably remember to ask what sort of snake is being used for half of this, and if I'm going to end up poisonous." Her tongue flicked, irritably.

Sabin blinked, and he honestly looked surprised that this woman was upset about what was happening to her.
"Why you? well, I mean- I thought you WANTED wings? I heard you when I was monitering one day - you said you liked birds. So..." this odd grin started to form. "I got to thinking, the combination serum I have been hard at work on needed a human subject ... well... I use human relatively, but you know what I mean!" He laughed, not mockingly, but as if this really was a hilarious joke that she should join in on. "It's proved successful in all of the preliminary tests!"
"And besides!" He said with a wild smile. "It all seemed to fit perfectly into place - liking birds... the emerald tree python - non-poisenous, by the way... and feathered wings! Just like quetzalcoatl!" He exclaimed, seeming as if the thought never even crossed his mind that the other occupants of the room may not know what the hell he was talking about.

Aubrey just stood there, slowly shaking her head. This guy was nuts. Sometimes, she really wondered what Moreau was thinking.
An anthropology professor given an honorary medical degree and access to this kind of power.
Guess it could be worse. At least in some way he was trying to help her. She did say she liked birds.

Cassidy shook her head. A python and a macaw. Well, at least venom wasn't something she'd have to worry about. And it was... well, at least a little better than just a plain old snake.
Oh god.
"Well, yes, I like birds, but this isn't exactly what I ever imagined... what the hell is a... a quet... quetzalcoatl, anyway?"

"You don't know-" He stopped and shook his head. He had to remember, not everyone was as big on folklore as he - and he had been nose-deep in his 'work' recently to surface and realize not everyone was on the same page.
"Of course, I'm sorry. Quetzalcoatl. The "Feathered Serpent". An Aztec (and several other of the Central american socieities for that matter) deity. He was a sky god, and appeared as a massive serpent with brightly colored feathers and wings. And, well, while it was a bit too late in your development to carry the feathered pattern across more of your body, I could at least integrate the wing structure as you hadn't lost your arms yet, and snakes don't exactly have an 'input' for arms, if you catch my drift." The grin wasn't leaving his face. "Maybe in the future my lab techs and I might be able to integrate more of a separate animal's DNA into someone already begun on the process of anotehr animal, but not quite yet."

Cassidy blinked.
"Wow," she said. Folklore was not her thing, but that was a pretty neat thing to worship, when it came right down to it. It was also hard to be really properly angry at this Sabin fellow, when he just stood there and grinned.
She wanted to be angry.
"It is better than a snake," she admitted dully. "And at least I know that I'll keep at least some limbs. I guess it looks, now, like I'm losing my legs. Entirely? Am I still going to have hands at the end of this? I just... I just want to know..."

Vasile shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "A sky god... thats.. thats not too bad, right?"
He dug his claws into the arm of the sofa and finally shifted to Sabin. "Hey - hey you're the one who did this to me - tell me..what am I? Did you mix me with anything?"

Sabin nodded to Cassidy. " I think so at least. And honestly, I can't say about the legs or hands. Moreau initiated the transformation. It seems that each individual reacts differently to the serums. Sometimes people end up with more or less animal characteristics when all is said and done. So you might wind up with permanent vestigial legs as far as I know. But the wings should at least ensure that you keep your arms. From our projections, you'll probably have some ability to manipulate with them, but I can't say for certain."
Sabin turned to Vasile, and blinked then smiled, realizing that he had begun to change. There was a bit of a smugness to his smile perhaps, but then again perhaps you're just seeing things. "Honestly, Moreau mixed your serum himself. I haven't touched it. But I do know that the combinations have been in my department, so I'd know if he wanted to integrate a new animal into it."
He looked to Cassidy. "Your serum is by far the most drastic of the combinations so far. Aside from you, Moreau has only integrated a little bit of combination into a few of the other subjects to 'test' it." Sabin actually rolled his eyes, indignant of the lack of confidence.

Permanent vestigial legs did not sound pleasant. At all. Cassidy's mouth twisted. "I'd rather have full legs or none at all," she said. "Lucky me."
At Aubrey's comment, her brow raised. "Um. Yeah, I'd really rather not end up with cancer because of this... this is going to be safe, right?"

"Oh it should be perfectly safe!" Sabin grinned. "We haven't had any accidents in the past few months on any of the tests."
Sabin was glad for Aubrey's question following Aubrey's. He hadn't technically specifically asked Moreau's permission to try the wing serum on Cassidy. He had been given the go-ahead to work on developing the combination serums. And Moreau wanted him to prove its effictiveness before going forth with it on an unaltered subject.
"Well, he wanted me to prove it would work before letting me work my 'magic' on a new subject." Sabin responded. That was like an approval. Moreau obviously needed proof. "Besides, he's been so busy with his own pet project. He's been rather testy if he's interrupted."

Aubrey folded her arms. "He'll be even MORE testy if anything happens to Miss Smith here before you didn't bother to interupt him. If you haven't noticed, he's a bit of a control-freak."

Cass's jaw dropped. This was not a reassuring development. "There was no real go-ahead for this?"
s**t.
She silently willed her DNA to keep on doing the weird transformations it had been doing, if the alternative was, as they had been told, cancer. Alive and snakey was marginally better than being dead and human, she supposed.
She hoped.

Aubrey turned back to Cass. "Don't worry, dear. I'm positive Sabin wouldn't put you in any danger. He's just..trying to help a bit?"
