"All of them," Makani repeated, trying to supress his amusement. "Though of course, you get your pick, and most've them'll be weeded out of the competition by those with higher rank. And some of them aren't too shy about getting what they want. Like Kendra. The Matriarch, who isn't shy about anything, including her desire for Koda to give her any number of grandchildren to look after." He snickered, "Not that Koda's terribly keen on the idea."

"I never though about- I, well- but I didn't know..." He pressed his lips firmly together to stop his babbling, what was he, a hatchling? Eggs came form somewhere, he just didn't know he'd ever have the option of doing anything about it. At least the way Makani described it he wasn't going to be forced to... well, but what about those others who weren't so shy. Surely he still had a choice.
Kira's words came back to him, that first whispered statement as Iris had approached. "...you might never return home once they have you in their midst." He shivered a bit. "But you may still... come and go as you wish?" he asked hopefully.

The bright male blinked. "Of course you can. I'd go stark raving mad if I had to stay there all the time. Though, to be truthful, the Mountain is probably the safest place to be for a Harpy. When my colony was attacked, I came straight here. Nagas don't come to the mountains." He scowled, "Bloody snakes don't like cold weather, and it's a good thing. But no one's going to force you to hang about. They'd like you to stay though. Kendra'll likely try to convince you. And you'll get gifts, and trinkets, and food, and anything else you could want."
One feathered finger gestured to his various shell trinkets and golden bracelets. "Iris'll probably give you something or the other. She can't hunt because of her color, but she's a good crafter. Decorates for all the festivals and whatnot. Doesn't seem to like your friend much though." The male glanced towards the brightly colored female who still huddled against the wall near Koda at the entrance, watching the interview carefully.

That certainly eased Kitrio's mind some. He'd hate to trade one kind of captivity for another. He'd certainly want to continue seeing Azure from time-to-time. She was the closest thing to a mother for him, though now they seemed to relate as siblings in their daily goings on. He glanced over the trinkets, he'd never had such things and wondered if he'd like wearing them or not. Mention of the nagas simply brought more questions to his mind, though he glanced back near the entrance and wondered if the girls would come to some sort of agreeable arrangement.
"Yeah, they didn't get along so well when we all first met." With things being all about rank and eggs he hoped they wouldn't send Kira away just because she was potential competition. It would take longer to know what his feelings were... did they allow feelings to come into play? His charcoal face darkened into a blush, to get his mind off the whole thing he decided to ask some of his questions.
"So the colony is here to be away from the nagas? Are they not the harpie's allies anymore?" He hoped that was a careful question, he still didn't know how these harpies felt about... everything that happened.

Faria chuckled a bit at the gray teen's humor. She'd most likely have a different opinion upon reaching adulthood, so she'd let her enjoy herself. Faria had to admit to herself the warmth of the fire and the sounds of various conversations reminded her of her first colony. It felt kind of nice to be back around that sort of action. She smiled reflectively, but shook her head to clear her thoughts. "Oh, where are my manners? My name is Faria," the green marked black harpy stated. "It's nice to meet you, Maeve," she turned to look at Nynora, "I don't think I got your name. Forgive me, I'm new here and hope to join the colony so I don't really know anyone's names."

"Oh! Well, welcome Faria. I hope you find things to you're liking. I'm Nynora." The other signaled to her and Nynora quickly set about picking a few bits of kindling to toss into the fire. It was nice to put a name to a face, Nynora had seen Meave a few times but hadn't had much chance to interact with her. She'd always admired Meave's striking markings and wished she had some sort of coloring to offset her own boring gray.

Kalpana, had lost all reason that was in her head to be there. Looking around making sure noone seemed to need her she decided to go and look for some nice herbs that could be used in her training and healing and other's training.
Looking around she realized that she'd have to wait until they had got back to the caves to actually get a basket she hereslf weaved to gather the herbs. Shaking her head in a sad manner she looekd around at everyone. There was the two males, which she overheard them saying that they were called Makani and Kitrio. Then there was Koda and Iris, and other groups of teens that she'd never met or spoken with. All in all, Kalpana wondered if she actually knew any of these harpies. Sure she lived with them, but she was normally on her own.
Bright eyes shifted to the sky as she swore the weather was getting worse. The voice in her head seemed to pray that Koda and Iris would decide that it was time to head back, or she swore they'd fall out of the sky one by one....She shook her head, she was letting her imagination run off, she needed to get it into better check.
((EDIT: Wait, I'm lost, where is everybody? Are they back at the caves yet?))

((Very first post I made, second post in the RP, had Koda landing the party she was leading and sending most of them inside the cave. Most of them would have come out to see what the fuss was about the 'fireball' but she's since sent everyone back in the cave. They are staying there for the night partly due to the storm and partly because Koda's trying not to freak out Kit by dragging him back home.
I really don't know what else to tell you. The setting has remained virtually unchanged though this entire time, the only variation being Kitaro, Iris and Yakira meeting in the air and who is currently inside or outside of the cave. sweatdrop Have to get ready to go @.@ I'll try to make a post before I head out. ))

"We were never the naga's allies," Makani explained, perhaps a little shortly. "They stole our eggs and enslaved us. The beach colonies still get attacked from time to time. It's how I wound up here." With a slight shudder at the memory, he continued, "The Mountain colony was made ages ago as a shelter, as you said. The naga can't get here to steal our eggs or capture our people. The Matriarch does her best to explain that to the other colonies, but some refuse to leave the shores. They'll learn their lesson eventually." He had after all. Sometimes he wondered if any of the colony that had raised him remained.

Faria smiled and dipped her head to the teens. "Thank you, Nynora. I'm sure I will. Everyone seems civil and kind so far, so I'm hopeful about joining." She picked up on bits and pieces of the males' conversation over the other harpies chatter and the popping and crackling of the fire that she was seated next to. Her dark plumage warmed quickly and found herself scooting back some to prevent becoming over heated. Faria got the gist that they brightly plumed males were speaking of the naga attacks and touched on the various colonies, especially The Mountain colony and those down on the shores. She remembered her youth in one of the shore colonies. A reflective smile slowly spread across her face as she thought of her friends and family before the attack. She even befriended a young male that was around her age. Things seemed easier back then. Before those serpents struck.

"Oh... I'm sorry..." Kitrio looked down at his feet while Makani spoke and he wondered if no one beside the harpies and nagas knew what had really happened. There was so much bitter resentment aimed toward the memory of harpies that he knew this must be the case. He could tell Azure... but she would only be one voice and he knew she would rather have her solitude. He'd endanger himself if he tried to go alone, and any harpie who felt so inclined to reveal the truth was likely attacked by the four-leggeds before getting a chance. Except... except for any other raised like Azure. By humans, away from the tribes and away from the stories of the war. Perhaps she could be convinced to at least seek out any others like that and perhaps they would be more sociable than Azure. He thought about the shores and wondered how often attacks were and where.Had he been lucky to never see a naga? He and Azure had often camped by the sea, but since they'd also never seen any harpies there then they must have been far from any naga territory too.

Sabra Knight Yakira looked back after Kit with a confused expression, but returned to Koda. 'I wonder if there'll be a later...' She moaned silently before nodding to the leader of this group with respect, "I'm known as Yakira and I thank you for your hospitality."
She still kept a little distance in between her and Koda, unsure of what was going to happen next. Would she be attacked, welcomed, or warned? Probably not the welcome...she thought with a sinking feeling...but then again perhaps she was wrong? When Koda was sure that the handsome fireball was out of hearing range she turned back too Yakira. "I understand that you interfered with our greeting, only to turn and ask for shelter. I value Iris's word, as does my mother, and there is no doubt in my mind that she speaks the truth. However, Kitaro has made it clear that for tonight you're fates are shared, so I cannot simply turn you over to the storm."
The kind tone she'd used when speaking with Kitaro was gone. The mountain had need for males, but little room for trouble makers. She trusted Iris to tell her honestly what she believed she'd seen, but she'd leaned from watching her mother that even one's most trusted ladies could err. The mountain had little room for trouble makers, but strong and loyal hens were needed as badly as new males. Her voice softened as she continued, "I am going to ask this only once and I suggest you answer honestly. What are you trying to gain from this?"

'So I wasn't attacked?' Her heart was beating rapidly from the tension and was now slowly calming back down...perhaps this colony was different from the one in her past experience.
She smiled politely, "'What do I expect to gain from this?'" Yakira breathed evenly, "I promise you that I don't wish to bring trouble or to take anything from this colony." Like the male...she wasn't looking for anything like some of the other females of their race would want from him... just maybe friendship is all she wanted. She looked at Koda and her eyes softened with a quick reminder at the past that she had endured. " I admit I was a bit rash at first..." Her eyes dropped, "For I've had a past experience which really isn't of the best kind to endure or to remember outloud either. I just want a shelter and to perhaps learn that things are different here." She was shocked at herself yet realized that it was true...perhaps she had started this journey not only to learn about the world but more about her own kind. 'That hope will always be there...even if I thought it was impossible? For here I'm believing in yet another colony...' She thought raising her gaze back to Koda's.

((Alright, now it's my turn to be confused. When did Yakira think she was being attacked? I'm having difficulties finding it...))
Koda stepped aside, her question hadn't really been answered but her mind had been made. "Whatever you've been through it doesn't justify your actions tonight. Facing hardship does not grant you the right to do as you please without consequence. You may stay for the night, but in the morning I expect you to part ways with the group quietly and without hassle."
She wasn't sure she was doing the right thing, but how did anyone really know for sure? She turned to Iris, wanting to have a word with the older harpy before finally retreating to the warmth of the cave.
((If Iris has already gone in I'll alter my post. Sorry, I don't have time to look it up I'm being rushed. ^^*))
