I picture them a lot smaller than they appear in that picture too, a giant one would look....out of place i guess.

Ah, when you put it like that Berz, it makes more sense. I also think little fairy dragons could be a possibility but big ones like that? No way... mrgreen Just like B-rad said "Out of place" indeed. 3nodding

D&D has fairy dragons. They're technically dragons but they're quite small and have butterfly like wings. Most western stories have the dragon's as evil while eastern dragons for one are serpentine and they are usually gods or keepers of knowledge, or guardians of the natural flow of the world. Also I rather liked those two dragon poems.

Since I've never had a real D&D experience, I've never seen any fairy dragons aside from the one that was posted here a while ago.
I keep wondering now what other creatures could be mixed with dragons, either by breeding or by other fantastic means like my avatar here. Can anyone imagine a dragon centaur? I sure can't! I do wonder if you take one of the centaur potions and then equip the dragon skin from the "Superior Form", would they work together or would they be incompatible?

I suppose I could imagine a reptilious cenataur...though I'm fairly sure ceneataur's are defined byt the fact that they are part man... so the name would have to be switched up a little bit. Anyway I think that ffits more into the crossbreads thread. As for the "fairy dragon" logically it doesn't seem right, the wings don't seem like they could support a beast like that. Though that's looking at it scientiffically and even so I could be wrong about it. Either way I think the creature doesn't look...right. Interesting: yes, but not right somehow.
It seems dragons have been portrayed as evil and good. Myself I prefer to think of them as beings with intelligence supirrior to that of many humanoids. To think of them as a creature with a good or evil "allignment" or mentality just seems wrong. I think people may have done things like that simply because of the look of the things, they are quite large and intimidating, so you might think that with a body like that they must have some great purpose. Though I prefer to leave them as freely thinking beings. Of course with such size and power they can easily be something that changes a land or civilization with a single decision. So yeah bassically I think making them act however they want removes the steryotypes such as good or evil allignment.

This is a tiny picture but it's what centaurs look like in Phantasy Star IV...

I don't like the idea of centaurs appearing to be half human and half horse. Half HUMANOID of course, but not half "human".
In my opinion they appear best in a more demonic looking form like that.

Yeah I think centaurs would probably be a lot more interesting as half humanoid rather than half human but i think the word itself might meen human... and I think if I say mroe I"ll be falling into the crossbreads thread...

Hey Drizzt, I think that a being that was created in a similar manner as a chimera is created in FMA, could end up as a fairly good Dragon-Fairy. Why? Think of it not with the body of the dragon but, with the body of the fairy and some dragon features such as horns, tough skin and a long tail. I think you could even make an avatar to look like that here on Gaia. We do have Fairy wings and stuff on here, don't we?
Hmm, nice FS4 pic Mel! 3nodding You know, that pic kinda proves my point about centaurs being also dragons. Cuz that picture certainly looks like a part dragon, part centaur kind of a thing to me, he-he. mrgreen

As far as the flight for Fairy Dragons is concerned if your argument is they can't fly do to the wings they have in contrast to the body. Think of this, Bees, Flies and other such insects fly when aerodynamically they can't.

Yeah, that's pretty much the point George Lucas made to his creature creators when he wanted them to make that flying character in Episode 1 (I forgot the name). Still, I prefer to think that a dragon fairy would not be possible unless it was like this:

Dragons are fantastic--they've always been my favorite; I'm especially fond of dragons with reddish-brown scales...don't know why.
I have this sort of gag in one of my stories which speculates that dragons must have flame-retardant mucus to protect their nostrils when they breathe fire, so the characters joke that the next time a village is on fire, they should use buckets of dragon mucus to put it out.
