Your Gaia Name: Skye Fenyx Characters: Nayeli Your RP paragraph:
Nayeli had been minding her own business, exploring the area about the sea in search of more of the creatures with amazing tails when she discovered—a seashell! What was it for? What did it do? Was it—
Sudden shouts for help made her thoughts halt in their snowballing. “Huh?” She answered softly, head canting backward with ears perked in curiosity toward the source of the sound. Had that been a cry for help? It certainly sounded like it. Should she go check it out…? Her parent’s teachings, a general wanting to help and simple curiosity made her trot toward the source of the shouting.
“What’s wrong--!” Trotting up to the top of a small sand dune, her voice fell away as her eyes caught sight of the giant birds and she was too busy staring at them for the first minute to notice them carrying anything and carrying it with great difficulty. Their screeches and frantic flapping drowned out the two-legger in the water, but she finally got the gist of the situation. The birds were trying to make off with those little shell-things and the “prince” everyone had been trying to help was not happy about it.
Judging from the shells strewn about the area and the bird’s actions with the shells, what they wanted to do wasn’t very nice either. Should she help? She was just a little foal, granted, with a small horn on her forehead, but a foal all the same.
Another screech, and her teeth gritted together; that was annoying! And her parents had taught her that this kind of eating was not nice either! So even if she managed to get injured or something, she might as well help someone out doing it!
Taking a deep breath—more to scrape together some courage than anything else—she charged down the dune, vaguely registering her shouting something and found herself among wing, screech and talon. She didn’t really notice when something slashed her side, she was too busy kicking and biting and trying to stab at the birds with her dull horn. “Go away, go away, go away!”
It seemed like forever, but suddenly she wasn’t hitting the birds anymore and the things they’d been holding and trying to carry off were on the ground. She stared up at the retreating figures, trying to figure why they’d left. Maybe it’d been when she’d bitten a talon…Whatever it was, she kind of felt a bit woozy…
Collapsing onto the ground, her many scratches to her body finally bleeding out enough to force her out of consciousness. Had she helped…? Would Mama and Papa be happy…?
Which kelpi shell do you want?: Mahi-Mahi preferably. :3

Your Gaia Name: Kami Swiftsong Characters: Eirian, Torey Your RP paragraph: “You’ve gotta be kidding me. Every mare likes a guy willing to go out of his way to help— Hey Eirian, did ya hear that?” Torey’s lecture was cut off as the unmistakable sound of ‘HELP!’ reached the two stallions. Blue eyes met grey as the two looked at each other, both sprinting toward the beach, toward the cries. What they saw when they got there was quite a sight. An obviously upset merlok, splashing and pointing up at the sky as two Kelpi shells were carried away by struggling ospreys. Once again, the two Soquili looked at each other. A grin spread across Torey’s face as he turned away from the water, trotting back to the edge of the sand. As the black stallion stopped, turning back to the water, Eirian began to call at the birds, kicking up sand and causing a great commotion as he did so, to distract the birds from carrying the shells further out to sea. While they were distracted, Torey sprang into a zealous gallop, gaining speed at he did so, until his feet hardly seemed to touch the ground. Right where the sand met the water, he leapt up, powerful haunches launching him up, toward the osprey. In surprise, the two birds loosened their grip on the prizes, causing the heavy shells to drop back into the water, where Ajadi, with Eirian’s help, were able to carefully retrieve them. Torey splashed down, a few feet away, with two rather angry osprey pecking after him. A bit of splashing from Torey sent them on their way, and he was able to paddle over to the beach, wide smile on his face. “Well, looks like I saved the day again, eh?”
The only reply he got was a splash in the face, compliments of Eirian. Which kelpi shell do you want?: Wahoo

Your Gaia Name: Bonara Characters: Luna Lovegood Your RP paragraph:
Listening to the salt waves crashing against the morning sands, a sudden yell was heard. Pausing for a moment to listen for more, it was heard again. Quickly rising, Luna looked around for the voice. Walking a bit closer, it became more apparent. ''Is anyone there?'' A sound of flapping wings floated into her ears. Raising her head, a bird was flying off with two oddly colored shells. Behind the bird was a young man screaming for help.
Putting it together, she ran down the beach and tried to knock the bird off course. Seeing that wouldn't work, the mare quickly galloped towards a leaning tree. ''What value are these shells anyway?'' Pouncing from the tree, she managed to knock one of the shells down. ''Maybe one is enough? Ahh..I don't know the value.'' Sweeping the oddly colored shell behind a low tree branch, she continued towards the bird. It looked quite irritated. Suddenly swooping down at her, it pecked viciously at her head. Luna started tossing her head from side to side, but the bird wouldn't give up.
Rearing up, she flung her hooves in whatever direction. Hitting something, she heard a crash and a sqeak. Praying she didn't kill the bird, Luna opened her eyes. Thankful, she saw that the bird only dropped the egg. Staring at its greenish colors, she smiled. ''All that work for this.'' Flipping it over, she noticed a sort of bubbly pattern. ''Hmm.. I wonder what this is?''
Slowly walking back she patiently carried the first shell by clamping it between her neck and chin. It was odd walking back like that. Eventually reaching the first shell, she continued walking. She wasn't that far from the ocean sprays. After carrying the first shell and dropping it at the fins of the man, she turned to get the other. Repeating her strange method of carrying the shell, she returned with the final one. Raising her head slightly, she smiled with satisfaction. ''May your days go well with these...shells?'' Moving on, the sunset was slowly coming towards the ground, making a beautiful light that reflected off of the ocean waters.
Which kelpi shell do you want?: I would love either, but If I must choose, Mahi-Mahi.

Your Gaia Name: Infinities Characters: Zulimar Your RP paragraph: (285 words) She was hungry. Goodness, so very, very hungry. But who was she kidding? She was always hungry. Zulimar prowled the shores, looking for something edible. Rarely did she come onto the beaches, but today she had vaguely recalled passing over it once before and seeing large shapes in the water. The memory had stirred her into seeking it out, curious as to just what sea-food would taste like.
The screams came to her ears first, making her eyes brighten with glee, and her tongue snake out to lick her lips. Screams were good. Always made her day a little… brighter. Her tail flicked behind her, powerful wings pumping as she took to the skies, using the altitude to help her search faster.
The sun shining off of a flying seashell was what struck her first. Momentary puzzlement, before she saw something even more delicious.
An osprey. Delicious little birds of prey, and luckily they were even all weighted down by those awful, horribly heavy-looking shells. But she could help with that. She let herself rise higher, until she was above the ospreys. Her intent was to drop down onto the birds, and hopefully break their backs. If they happened to drop the shells, well… accidents happened. Two less annoyances, and one more meal for herself.
The humanoid was screaming for help- had he noticed her yet? The ospreys didn’t seem to have, but she couldn’t be sure. They really did look delicious… and as for the shells, they’d be another meal, if they happened to shatter. If not, she could always wait until they opened to feed on what lay within. Two meals for the cost of one.
She hissed happily, and let herself fall.
Which kelpi shell do you want?: Wahoo. ^_^

Your Gaia Name: GriffinFire
Characters: Nita (Native American Persona)
Your RP paragraph: Nita jogged along the beach, stopping now and again to stab at a fish idly with her spear. Ostensibly, she was fishing for her dinner, but she wasn't trying particularly hard – she wanted to retain her excuse for staying out near the water. The weather was pleasant, and she was hoping to catch a glimpse of more of the aquatic Soquili, or maybe even more of Ajadi's people.
Just as she bent to inspect a crab scuttling up the beach, Nita heard the cry for help. She looked up in surprise – there was Ajadi himself, gazing desperately upwards and flailing his arms futilely. He did seem to get himself in trouble, didn't he?
She followed his line of sight to the two ospreys, flapping slowly but steadily upwards, each grasping what she recognized as a shell exactly like those she'd seen gifted to a few of the others who had helped Ajadi a few days before. They'd been told young mer-Soquili would emerge from them – but these two were in danger of breaking apart! The empty clamshells littering the beach told her that the ospreys intended to make the Soquili shells their next meal.
A moment of hesitation, then Nita snatched the largest of the shells from the beach and flung it as hard as she could toward the closer of the predatory birds. The shell spun like a throwing disc, but veered far off her mark. "Leave them alone, you great brutes! They're not your food!" Choosing another shell, she tried again, and then once again, but each time she missed by several feet. The ospreys' squawks sounded as if they were mocking her.
Biting her lip in frustration, Nita cast around for something else to try. There were some rocks – but throwing things wasn't working: she was a horrible shot. Then she looked down at the spear she'd dropped when she'd gone for the shells, remembering her errand. Fishing. Fish! That was what ospreys liked, wasn't it? "Aha!" She grabbed up the spear and moved into the surf, for a moment standing perfectly still and intently watching the water for a swimming shadow.
There – one stab – and another – and there were two fish wriggling uselessly on her spear. Gripping the slippery creatures firmly around the middle, she slid both of them off the spear, one in each hand, the weapon falling once again to the sand. Nita straightened and stood as tall as she could. She waved her hands – still full of fish – over her head, trying desperately to catch the birds' attention. "Hey, you, yeah, you two, with the feathers! Don't you want some of this? Tastier than what you've got there, and easier to eat, too!"
Which kelpi shell do you want?: What, I have to choose? gonk I suppose I must… The Wahoo, then. ^-^

WINNERS! There were several wonderful entries but a great deal of people broke the rules and god modded the ospreys. It said to just post your action. If you were RPing that you were battling then you wouldn't god mod your opponent. Griffen had the birds squawk but we agreed that was understood behavior of birds and they would have done that anyways in the RP whether or not Griffen "modded" that they did.
ELF and I finally came up with our decisions for each shell.

Your Gaia Name: Kamiki Characters: Stormwild Your RP paragraph:
Stormwild rarely left her mountain sanctuary, but curiosity had finally gotten the better of her. Rumors had been pouring in all over the soquili lands about their new friends from the ocean and she had finally decided it was about time to introduce herself. She was walking along the beach, already remembering why she didn't like the place: the sand felt weird and unsteady under her hooves, and the spray of the ocean made her incredibly long mane sticky and tangled.
A sudden screaming broke her from her thoughts as her attention was drawn to a man that was ... half fish. Stormwild was a very old mare, and she had seen her share of crazy things, but this had to have topped the cake. Her mouth hung open as she stopped dead in her tracks. She openly stared for several moments until her brain finally processed what he was screaming about.
She begrudgingly pulled her attention off the man and looked up into the sky where he was flailing and pointing. Those were definitely no normal clamshells the ospreys were toting. She had seen a few of them around her lands before, and she quickly had to take action. She broke off into a full speed run, the sand billowing up around her dramatically and she gained speed on the birds. She gained distance, then when she was only a couple of yard away, she launched herself into the sky, her powerful muscles straining under the force of the jump in the soft, wet sand. Once airborne, she unfolded her wings, catching the steady ocean breeze between her feathers and soaring upwards above the escaping birds. This would be tricky; she couldn't just attack the ospreys for if they dropped the shells they could shatter from the fall. And why it would be easy for her to overpower one of the birds, she had no way to grab both shells...she had one mouth and no hooves. So if she just grabbed one shell, but the time she got it to safety, the other bird would be long gone. Quickly, she made her plan. She began to fly wide circles above them, not unlike a buzzard, flying around them in ever-tighter circles, forcing them closer together and lower to the ground with each pass. She tucked her legs under her, using only her wings when needed to bat and herd the birds in their escape. She knew eventually the birds would realize this prey was not worth the effort, drop the shells at a safer distance, then escape. Without the burden of the shells, an osprey would have no problem out flying a soquili.
Which kelpi shell do you want?: I would be equilly happy with either of them, they're both so pretty! But if I must specify, the Mahi Mahi please. THE OSPREYS' REACTION
To Nita smile ) The ospreys were attracted to the speared fish so each bird let go of the huge shells in their talons. They weren't very high up so the shells hit the soft sand unharmed. When they landed on the spears that Nita was holding the fish was being pecked at until each bird was able to grab a whole one in their mouth. Satisfied, the ospreys flew away with their new treats. "Ahhh! Those poor fish!" Ajadi exclaimed as he covered his eyes. Even though the fish now suffered the same fate that the kelpis would of endured, Ajadi was relieved.
"Thank you, human, for getting rid of those blasted creatures. I never seen feathered manta rays before in that color but they could have killed me as well. I want to reward you with the wahoo shell!" he said with a smile.
Ajadi then flopped towards the sea because the sun was drying out his scales. He didn't want to end up unconscious again! "Farewell!" he waved to Nita and then disappeared into the crashing waves. To Kamiki: THE OSPREYS' REACTION ((lol Stormwild the bird herder! XD)) The shells were now slipping from the ospreys' talons as they tried to get away from the wind soquili that was herding them. Did the soquili need the food they were holding too? Whatever the case, it wasn't worth fighting for these shells when there was an entire ocean filled with fish. They didn't like the smell of those shells anyways since they contained food they weren't familiar with. A large flying fish was spotted in the distance so the birds dropped the shells onto the soft beach and raced towards it. "You saved the day, winged creature!" Ajadi said with a big toothy grin. The shells were now safe from the hungry feathered manta rays at last.
"I would like to give you the mahi-mahi shell as a thank you for saving the day!" he said as he held the shell out to the horse. He wasn't sure how the horse would take the shell home but maybe an owner would arrive soon to take care of them both.
Ajadi then flopped towards the sea because the sun was drying out his scales. He didn't want to end up unconscious again! "Farewell!" he waved to Stormwild and then disappeared into the crashing waves.send name/temper to Ameh please!! 'grats!!

ALSO!
I wanted to say that so many of the entries were AMAZING! I did make comments on them all on my own. So, if you wanted to know about them, please PM this account, do not ask in the thread.
Before you PM, though, I'd like you to read through your response. If you godmodded the Ospreys at all then the entry was thrown out. Many of my personal top choices were later omitted due to this action.
What I was mostly looking for followed the rules Sirenz set out in front, as well as action to the prompt itself as well as character-flow.

Congrats to the winners.
But if you threw out the ones who godmodded the birds why didn't Kamiki's get thrown out? One sentence in her post is clearly godmodding the birds to do something without waiting on a reaction.
