"He reminds me of him, too." Years filter past the angel's vision. The memory of her first time meeting her starkeeper is as fresh within her mind as it was before her rebirth. Her beloved one will miss his son's life entirely if he doesn't return. A slight shiver is the only indication of the touch of dread such a thought gives her.

"Ah, yes. I do. I have one of my own, though I can't seem to find her. She was a very inquisitive little thing. I do hope she is alright ..." A pause, and then, "I was not aware that they had such limits, though I do wonder how Uno stretched past hers? Regardless, she seems to care for Sei and his Alden deeply."

"Please forgive me for asking, Zero, but I would know what has happened to the other fa'e, if you would provide what information you feel like sharing. I will greatly appreciate it."

Zero stirred her own tea idly as she listened to the angel. "She does, and that reassures me a little." Yet, she does not voice what she seems to have feared.

"As for the other fa'e, well... I don't really know much about them, to be honest. All I know is what Sei tells me, and he himself does not seem to know alot of them, beside a chosen few he clings to."

Something is bothering Zero. Bothering her deeply. So much so that Shina can't stay silent about it, not entirely. "Is there something about Uno that you are unsure of?"

"Riven being one of those, I presume?" A small smile and she sips at her tea, afterward re-lowering the cup with both hands, one with fingers about its handle. "It sounds as though Sei is still keeping mostly to himself. Should we be concerned?"

"No, nothing about her." She shook her head softly. "No, it's more about me, really. But it isn't important." The woman managed to force a smile out, and seems more than eager to go to the next matter at hand.

"That would be right. And, honestly... I don't think it is doing him any harm. He knows a few more people that arn't fa'e... I think he's just introverted. But I can tell that he's working on opening up. It just seems so hard for him to let out his feelings, for some reason..." That, however, seemed to worry her. "I am not quite sure why."

Not one to press matters unless it's absolutely necessary, Shina lets the subject drop. However, Zero's discomfort settles to the pit of the angel's stomach and remains there, refusing the budge.

"That does not seem to be the only cause for concern ... Zero, does Sei feel?" That didn't sound right, so she tries again. "Sensations, I mean. I had not noticed such before, but he was so young then. Is this something that's developed over time?"

Ah, the question. In fact, in all honesty, she is a bit surprised that it took so long for it to be asked. The blue-haired woman remained quiet for a moment, visibly trying to find the best way to answer it - but eventually, nothing but honestly came to mind - as blunt as it might be.

"Not a thing. You could stand behind him and tap his shoulder, and he'll never know it. As far as I know, he's always been this way, and... I believe it might be my fault on that part." Suddenly, she has a thought that the angel probably has no idea what she's babbling about, and clarifies. "I mean, I heard fa'e send their guardians dreams - and that they can be influenced by them. With the dreams I have had even prior to meeting you, it would make sense..."

Suddenly, upstairs, something moved, and Sei nested himself on top of the stairway, out of sight of the two women - he had been initially coming down to rejoin them, but honestly what he had caught of the conversation had be curious. After all, Zero had NEVER wanted to tell him anything about the dreams, and curiosity proved too strong. He had left the tae to watch Alden as he slept, and hopefully even if he came out of the room all the way down the hall, he would not blow his cover.

Zero's surprise is not unfounded, and the half fa'e understands more than anyone just how dense she must appear in light of how obvious such should have been to her. Was it the memory of what her son had been before she handed him to Zero that had kept her so deep in denial? Once, he had squealed when she touched him. He'd cooed at the very sight of her, then sought to patter her with his little fingers. How does it affect him, to not be able to feel texture? To not be able to appreciate the difference between smooth and rough, delicate and strong? She closes her eyes and lets out a pent up breath, slowly. Shina can't even begin to describe how badly this makes her gut wrench into numerous, stubborn knots.

There was a time in her life when her physical sight had been denied her, a 'leftover' from her sacrifice to open Limbo and release the souls of those she loved, and still loves to this day. Back then, the sensation of touch had been her guide, as her spiritual vision could only get her so far. Her son suffers from the opposite. His eyes work perfectly, yet a part of the world is beyond his comprehension. Had she to choose which disability she would have to suffer through, whether losing her sense of touch or her eyesight, she would be blinded once again.

"I have heard of such, but wasn't certain of it at the time." Immediately, Shina is faced with a choice. Sei may have dodged Zero's notice, but his emotions call out to his receptive mother, as assuredly as if he'd come up to her and spoke aloud. A few moments of silence pass, as the half fa'e considers the situation and shakes her head. Let him listen. If he's hovering as he is, then he has yet to be told, and he should know what's influencing his life. If the tale starts to prove too unbearable, only then will she alert Zero to Sei being so near. "You need not feel badly for this situation, my friend. We cannot control what comes to us in dreams, much less when it is the beginnings of such a bond as we form with our guardians."

((Sorry for taking so long - major brain fart))

"Well, it just... I don't understand. But maybe I am not meant to understand." The blue-haired woman shook her head softly. "But it just all seems to hit close to home. Much too close to home." She observes Shina for a moment, as if wondering if she should even tell her about the dreams she had, long ago - yet they where still clear enough to this day, as if burned into her mind. It does not take any empathy for the cyborg to understand that the half-fa'e is already a bit bothered, if not confused by what she had just told her. After all, she would have probably have had problems believing it if she hadn't partly experimented it herself. "They... where not pleasant dreams."

Sei listened in silence, a bit confused at the information that unfolded in front of him. Did that mean, if somehow, for some reason, he had been bound to another guardian, he might have been different? Perhaps not as to what he had been in his other life, but different in the one that it is now? That, somehow, Zero had influenced him in part, in despite having no direct blood relation? This was strange...

Still, he waited. Maybe Shina would ask for details, and maybe he would finally figure out why his guardian did not want him to know - yet some hope that she will not, and that he might not be seen in an unfavorable light in his mother's eye. The doubt lingered, and it would not fade. Maybe I am not the child she truly wanted. Maybe she will leave again....

(( Quite alright, hon. We'll RP when you feel up to it, 'kay? -^_^- ))

Wood scrapes across the floor as Shina scoots her chair closer to Zero, pale hands reaching for the guardian's. Fingers that possess more strength than many would suspect at first glance attempt to curl about Zero's, giving a light squeeze meant to comfort and then not moving them away. Wings that aren't meant to be indoors arc forward to sweep across the table, possibly causing their own form of havoc with whatever is on that surface, brushing smoky gray and black wingtips along Zero's shoulders. "I am familiar with unpleasant dreams."

She had nothing else during her time in the Void. Memory after memory, playing inside her head like a broken record. When the Void's hold had weakened, even if just slightly, she'd cast those thoughts out in the desperate hope that she would be heard. By some remarkable twist of fate, Eirnae had.

"Our pasts are a tangled weave, often snarled with pain and doubt. The web is what we were, no longer who we are." She meets the eyes of this woman she seeks to call friend, her words meant for both she and the fa'e that she's bound to that's hiding on the stairs. "We cannot see that truth till we've wrapped ourselves in its strands, to emerge from our cocooned past and unfurl the wings of the future."

Full lips curve into a small, rosy smile as she adds softly, "I will not press, Zero. Only know that I understand, and will listen if you wish to say more."

Oh, if only she could still send out her spiritual energy and wrap herself about her son! His doubts dog at her, clouding the edges of her mood with darkness. She wants to comfort him, to prove how much she loves him, yet she remains silent. This is the sort of pain only time and constant attention can heal, and she will be there for him to help with that. She's never going to leave his side again.

Her hand tightened around the angel's, and even as the offer had been given, she knew she could not speak, if only for the woman's own sake.

All the death and destruction... She had long hoped it wasn't linked to the blonde boy, but she had to eventually admit it to herself. What she did not know is... What he conscious of his actions, or had he been controlled ? A lump seemed to form in her throat at the simple thought. Yet it had felt so familiar...

A pawn in a game... just as I used to be ?

"That... It is not my place to tell you. He will chose accordingly, once and if he remembers the events." She shook her head, softly.

"...I apologize for being so somber after I have not seen you for so long, but I've had quite a few things dragging me down. I shouldn't drop it all on you, and I apologize."

Sei was happy and annoyed both at that. Happy that his guardian was pretty much respecting his privacy, but a bit annoyed that he wouldn't learn more from this. The small pieces he had in his procession still didn't quite add up correctly.

A nod sends the long white-silver bangs bobbing. "Then so shall it be. Please, only humor this one request, Zero."

She has yet to let go of the guardian's hands, and she tucks hers about them all the more securely as she continues, "When he does remember, you and I will be there to help him understand that whatever was need not be again, unless it is what he wants."

"Now," is said in a more light hearted tone, "There are no need for apologies, as we've been equally somber." Blue on blue eyes twinkle with something close to mirth.

"What would you ask of me, mellonamin? You have already provided me with many answers, I should attempt the same."

She lets Sei decide what to do at this point, though his mixed emotions are a cocktail that's poured into her brain without remorse. She's so focused on him that these are more intense than any other in the vicinity, so much so that her brows twitch once in a mostly repressed grimace. She needs to get used to being around others again, the added streams of Zero, Ruathal, Alden, even Uno's feelings starting to give Shina a light throb of a headache.

"I do not even need to promise you that. I have promised that to myself a long time ago." Just in case you did not come back. I will fight to the death for him if I need to.

She stayed silent for a moment after that, then blue eyes lock with bluer ones. "...There is not much I feel like I need to ask, my friend. Nothing that would feel like I am prying, at least." She gave a small laugh, then suddenly tilted her head up as the sound of an infant crying cut trough the air. With so, Sei's presence moved, going to attend to his young charge, responsibility winning over curiosity. Soon, the cries quieted.

"...In fact, I wish you to know... I may not understand, and I may never will, but I can hold a blade and my shoulder is quite wide enough to cry on. I want you to know that if you need my help, in any way... I am more than free to give it out to you, if you are willing to accept an old fighter." There was a small twinkle in her eyes. "...The children have taught me that there is more to life than putting it constantly on the line, and for that, I am thankful."

Yet her children where growing - a few had left, others planned on leaving, and the cyborg wasn't sure how to deal with it.

Shina tallies the distance growing between her and her son as he ascends the stairs, smiling at his concern for his ward. Sei's caring for another in such a way fills her with pride. You are wonderful, my son.

Ruathal's emotional feedback soon reflects the tae's relief that the crying has stopped, as he'd been trying to cheer up the baby on his own without success. It seems Alden can ultimately only be calmed by his 'daddy'.

A stirring of loneliness mingles with a blend she's come to see as that of hopeful readiness, and she fully focuses on Zero to hear the cyborg out with one of her soft smiles already starting to dominate the angel's expression. "How could this old fighter not accept one of her own's kind offer?"

It doesn't matter that one is of both metal and flesh, twisted into a weapon who only discovered her heart of gold after a long road of crimson screams. The angel fought her own battles. Some lost, others won. Death is death. It wasn't till her sister fell in love with one of the fallen had she fully understood the damage she'd wrought.

Shina shares the same trepidation as Zero. Seeing Sei so grown and bordering on another spurt, she can feel him becoming more independent. The hard part is to not cling to him, and avoid smothering him with her love. He deserves to mature at his own pace, in his own way. She will not douse his light. "In the end, we always have each other."

Zero nodded, softly. "And he will always have us." She was determined to be present in Sei's life as long as she would be needed, to be his rock if his mother somehow could not reach him. After that ? Well, hopefully it would be easy to let him fly alone.

Hopefully.

"How is he, then ?" She dared to ask, knowing Shina probably would figure out who she was talking about. "...You don't need to answer that, if you don't wish to." But she was curious. Never she had lived something as strong as Shina and Hoshi held - and she honestly doubted she ever would.

The question was bound to come eventually. Shina's facial features shift to be that of one haunted. "He didn't seem quite himself."

The fact that he had not touched her at all during their brief encounter still bothers her. Had the changes in her due to Sei's birth been the cause? Or was it the shift that happened when she reawakened her family? He had felt happy to see her, but she misses being close to him. To hold him again ...

Blinking once to refocus her eyes upon Zero, the half fa'e pats her companion's hands before rising to her feet, wings tucking back as she moves to the stove to start putting on more water to boil, going on automatic. "But he promised he'd return to us, soon."

A smile is the prelude to the newly dreamy tone of her voice, pausing in her task. "He looked just as I remembered him. Tall, handsome, with eyes the shade of lilacs on water ..." Another pause, this time in conversation, and she chuckles, the sound somewhat hollow. "Apologies. If I went on, I'd likely not stop talking about him for hours on end."
