Two of a kind, my Demon and I, we will always be.
But who is the shadow, and who the light,
To this dramatic tragedy?

Really now, given up hope in me? Never, never! And I won't give up on you. Not ever. But...I think that this is one conversation, at least, that I would not mind seeing ended.

Another day in paradise. I finished The Glass Castle, the autobiography of Jeanette Walls, an MSNBC correspondent, and GrimGrimoire, a fun, rather lighthearted RTS by Nippon Ichi Software (the makers of Disgaea, Phantom Brave, Makai Kingdom, etc.). Now just A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway (which I'm not thrilled about), and I'm off to bed. (And Fruits Basket!)

Glad you two came to a conclusion. Ooh, I'm so stressed right now with work and school. I've worked everyday since last Monday and my next day off isn't until Thursday. On top of that, i have three major things going on in school right now, A analysis paper due in English, a Resume for my communications class, and i have to give a group presentation tomorrow in my computer graphics class. O.o not to mention that while I was working on my paper for English, my computer's power supply suddenly decided to give out. luckily i had a spare from my old computer and just swapped them out.

I don't know how many Canadians are here in this guild in my position but I need to rant this out. Here in the old CA of nada, our political system of getting votes derives from a number of different methods. Hot topics, attack adds and kissing babies. Now, the last two don't count, which makes me wonder why they do that crap anyway. In any case, my beef, is on post-secondary school funding, and a tiny little rant of government funding of private schools.

First and foremost, and I did not know this until recently, but, it appears that universities, mine most typical of them all, are not actually schools, but conglomerate businesses. The government merely throws guidelines at them, rough guidelines which I dare say aren't followed very well, but that I don't care much about.

What bugs the living **** out of me is that I see these commercials on television with kids my age saying, oh yes, this political party is going to put billions more funding into post secondary schooling which will make everything well and good. ****ing WRONG! The number one killer of post secondary school education is student funding and tuition costs, and that's just the automatic turn off. Students that have to pay for themselves will later realise that merely paying for tuition isn't good enough. You need transport to the school, or residence, as well as books, supplies as well as additional fees tacked onto tuition for mostly unnessecary bullsh*t like remedial health care amoung other things that it takes a long frigging process to opt out of. For me, I pay over 5000 CDN a year JUST for tuition, another 12-1500 for books and about 1100 or more for transit, and that doesn't include money put towards my car for getting me to the bus station.

What is pissing me off, is these commercials and everyone I talk to about it, they seem to think more money coming from the government will mean less tuition. I nearly came to blows with a guy yesterday about this. What business has EVER lowered the price of what they're selling? So universities get more funding, what they will do with it is draw up more tutorial leader contracts, refurbish the dingy parts of the school. Never, NEVER will they ever lower tuition, instead, because the tuition freeze defrosted last year, I get to pay MORE for tuition. I hate it when weapy eyed NDP (National Democratic Party) activists and voters tell me sh*t will be cheaper at school if they could only get more funding. I'm about ready to SNAP.

And on the topic of private and catholic schools receiving government funding, well lets just say I'd rather convert to catholicism than see them get any of my hard earned taxes. Private schools are just that, PRIVATE. Why should the people who can't afford private schools pay for someone else's little tard-child to get a better education? It blows my f*cking mind how absolutely retarded government officials can be. I wish we would simply take a page from the chinese and make all our government officials take written exams on the Confucian Classics before they can get into office. I'm tired of this bullsh*t electoral system and how any moron and his sister can get into a position of power just because they make more money than any average Joe.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!!

I agree, More money from the government doesn't always mean less tuition, they'll probably keep the cost the same and put the money towards something else for the school. I'm not Canadian, but I live in Utah, right now that's a big issue on the vote this coming November. Being Catholic, I would support the schools, but I don't see the need for school vouchers, I was schooled in a public school and got a good education through them. The only thing different is that the private schools are more strict on policies, get better tools for educating the students, though only because the cost to get in these schools is so damn high. Frankly vouchers are a waste of time, we shouldn't even consider them.

Utah's education board though is being questioned, the decisions they make seem to be randomly chosen, and not thoroughly thought out. The districts here have lost a ton of teachers due to the reforms that the board made with the retirement plan, first off, they aren't even payed well, I'm a part time cashier and probably make a dollar less a day then what teachers starting out make.

On tuition i'm spoiled, i don't pay, my parents do, they also split the cost of books with my grandma. People think high school is tough and expensive, wait till you get to college and you have to pay $500 in books, (note that that's actually used books), and upwords to over $1000 in tuition and fees. I go to the community college and the tuition this semester for 13 credit hours was $1,200 and something, can't remember exaact. For books they paid, $180 dollars (USED), and then i found out that my online web design class required the Adobe CS3 Web Standard software, luckily I found it at the college book store for $250 (Student Licsensing). If i would've had to buy the software online it would of been $1000 itself... sweatdrop

Had SAT this weekend. Incidentally, Friday's plans fell apart and I spent the night reading Megatokyo. Saturday, after the Sat, a friend came over, and spent the night. Got to bed late. Rose late. Didn't even get to say goodbye. *sigh* Sunday, read more. Not much else. Did a bit of plot mapping. Was going to write a scene, but could not bring myself to do so. Instead, watched Pleasantville on TV.

Love and Vale,

I hate getting stomach pains right in the middle of class. Actually, I hate getting them period. Today has to have been the worst, I've never wanted to commit seppuku before. Crap, here they come again, this does not make for a pleasant say at school.
