"Maybe," she said softly, looking very unpleased with the direction the conversation had taken.

"They might even try to find you, as long as you don't hide too often," He mentioned, chuckling at the petulant tone that the young fox had taken. "That doesn't mean to tolerate the ones you don't like. But just give them a chance before rejecting them." Giving her a small smirk, and trying to push the message home, he continued, "After all, you're currently standing here talking to the monster of the pound, when even the adults try to avoid me."

"I've seen odder creatures wandering around here than you, Touda," she said, wrinkling her nose. "I've got odder creatures in my family." Looking up at the snake/man, she smiled. "Plus, once I actually stopped to talk to you, you were nice. And I like your wings."

He offered a raised eyebrow to that odd statement. "Odder then I? Perhaps. But not the same kind of odd. A less scary kind of odd maybe."

"My... Wings?" Touda blinked, and unfolded one of the four appendages while turning his head to stare at it appraisingly. Shrugging a moment later, he folded it back with the others. "I never paid all that much attention to them. I can use them to glide, but that's about it."

"I don't find you scary, Touda, I find you fascinating," she said with a small smile.

"Glide? Really?" Eyes widening, she looked at him dubiously.

"Fascinating," He murmured, tilting his head slightly to the side. "That's one way of looking at it I suppose."

Amused at her sudden loss of faith in him, he nodded once. "I can't actually fly, but I can glide. I try not to do that, since it means I have to throw myself off something fairly high."

Her eyes widened more, giving her an almost comical look. "But... What if someday your wings don't work? You'd crash!"

Touda blinked at the little kit for a second before chuckling, "I've been fully grown for a while... I'd either have to break a wing, or gain quite a bit of weight for that to happen."

She wrinkled her nose. "I suppose so."

Still chuckling, he straightened his torso somewhat and stretched out all four of his wings to their maximum width to show Iun his full wingspan. "They don't look too impressive when they are folded, but... They can be useful."

Looking up at them, her amazement was written clearly across her face. "Oh, wow," she breathed, reaching out with a gentle hand to touch them lightly.

PostPosted: Mon Sep 24, 2007 5:54 pm

He froze as she reached for his wings, almost pulling them back out of automatic reaction. Leaving them extended semi-unwillingly, he shivered when Iun touched them, being unused to having non-painful contact to the seemly fragile skin on his wings. Though his wings were tough and leathery, they were at the same time much more sensitive then his hard and scaly coils.

He started to say something when he felt footsteps racing across the ground in their direction. Lowering his wings, he looked back over his shoulder and saw a very agitated female dog running across the field toward them.

Growling, Audra raced across the field to save the young kit from the monster that was separating her from the safety of the pound. "Leave her alone monster!" She shouted as she neared the two of them, "I don't know what possessed the staff to let you stay, but keep away from the children, do you hear me?"

Not waiting for an answer, she grabbed for the young fox's arm and made to haul her back toward the pound, where a group of other teen and adult Waywards was forming. Had been horrified when she'd joined the group in watching what was going on, and no-one else had even moved to save the poor kit from the massive back serpent.

Snapping his wings back to his side, Touda sat in his coils silently, letting the threats and insults roll off of him just as he had for years before. Unwilling to interfere so as to not incite the rest of the group to defend their own, he simply watched the events unfold before him with a blank expression. Absently wondering just what the older Waywards would tell her about him.

"Let-me-go!" Ion sneered once the blue dog had finally halted. Yanking her arm away, she glared at the gathering. "What is your problem! I was in the middle of a conversation! You gawking idiots need to read up on manners and how to apply them!" Furious, she ranted at them.
PostPosted: Mon Sep 24, 2007 6:15 pm

With a snarl, Audra turned on the ungrateful kit, "A conversation? With a monster like that?" Her ignorance of Touda's history and ingrained fear of the creature she'd never spoken to ruling her actions, and making her even more stubborn and unreasonable then usual, especially with the adrenaline that still coursed through her system from facing him down in close quarters.

"He's been seen ripping tree's apart with his bare claws, and crushing stones in his coils!" She ranted, exaggerating and blowing things out of proportion in her wish to make the kit see sense. "Stay away from that thing, or you're going to end up hurt!"

The rest of the group nodding to her and each other as Audra continued to rant right back at the kit.

On the other side of the clearing, Touda watched for a moment before lowering his torso closer to the ground, and slithering out of site. Back to the small shack in the woods that he was given to live in as the grounds keeper. Shaking his head at his own actions even as he began packing up the promised books to leave at the front door of the pound for the kit the next morning.

"Touda is not a monster!" Ion yelled back. "You don't even know him! He wouldn't hurt anybody!" Looking around at the group, she pointed at them. "All of you are far more capable of hurt and malice than he is! You hurt him everyday with your taunts and your unfounded revulsion. This pound is full of all sorts of creatures, you have no right to look down on Touda because he is different!" Sneering at them and their idiotic ignorance, she turned on her heel and headed back across the field, throwing "I will talk to whomever I want!" over her shoulder as she did.
