Setsumi craned her neck to catch sight of Darkfeather's face. Just what was so amusing? She was only concerning, apparently over nothing. Places for rest. She shrugged as best she could. "Only place I bother for rest is on the beach. But where ever you choose is just as fine." She didn't doubt his experience in the air gave him many locations to explore and enjoy.

Seeing her trying to get a look at his face, Darkfeather lifted a brow and tilted one red eye down at her. An inquisitive look on his face.. which then turned thoughtful at the mention of the beach. A nod was given, "The beach it is." With a flap of his wings, and a slight veer to the side, he flew in the direction of the coast.
After some time had past, about a half hour or so, Darkfeather made his decent. Wings out stretched and riding the steady breezes from the ocean as they slowly dropped lower and lower. Eventually they reached the sand, with the male giving a few flaps of his wings before gently landing the both of them.

Setsumi had seen that color red before, and it reminded her of a hawk. Not cruel, but deadly and strong. Then again, Darkfeather did originate from a bird. She smiled back at him, nodding to his answer.
The blue was drawing closer, and Setsumi could just begin to smell the salty and crisp air. Her paws couldn't help but relax as they got lower in the air, tails relaxed to feel the breeze. Then the flapping changed, and she squinted her eyes away from any loose sand in the air. Her feet could feel the ground now, and she almost went slack with that familiar relief. Much better travel than walking.

Darkfeather stood up and stepped away from Setsumi once they landed, eventually coming to stand near the waves and letting the breeze blow and whip about his crest feathers. Wings tucked against his back, he sighed once before sitting in the sand.
It seemed wherever he went.. memories always seemed to follow him. Nikki liked to go to the beach as well... infact it was on a beach that she had burned her hands when trying to catch a pokemon she probably shouldn't have.

The warmth was gone, and Setsumi took that moment to ruffle her fur and feathers. At least they hadn't crinkled at the contact. Regaining her own sense of balance, Setsumi turned back to the water. The wind tickled at her own ear feathers, and she walked up to sit next to the other.
Darkfeather had gone quiet once more, and she figured where he had left. His body was here, but his mind elsewhere. "You're thinking of her." A rhetorical question, because she already knew the faces that came with past memories. And best she could do was sit there and be a comforting presence.

A blink and he glanced at Setsumi when she spoke. He frowned a little and nodded, "Yeah." The crested male heaved a sigh, holding his head high. "I guess I'm too attached." Ears tilted back, while tails tapped lightly against the sand. A part of him wished he could just forget... but the other part didn't ever want to.
He was far too loyal... being seperated from the only human that had ever mattered to him was proving to be far more difficult than he expected. She haunted his dreams, and invaded his thoughts... making him feel vulnerable.. a feeling he hated.

His frown made her frown, her thoughts lowering. She could say Nikki would..could return, but that'd just be repeating words. Nor was it too encouraging when it was still merely a guess. And still he stood there, head high and face expressionless. Or as best as it could be. Attachment did seem to be something dear to him. To the point that he was aching because of it.
Faintly, Setsumi leaned her head against his shoulder. It was the only comfort she could provide. Somehow, words didn't seem to fit.

He appreciated the gesture, even if he didn't really show it very much. Darkfeather always tried to be tough, but really... things did bother him. Some would consider him callous, but really.. the fellow was more sensitive then anyone might guess.
A wing was put around Setsumi as he dipped his head and closed his eyes. Letting out a sigh, he inwardly tried to regain his composure.

The wing was noticed in the corner of her eye, along with his sigh to her ears. Never before had she seen him so troubled, he always did his best to supress it. A quiet hush escaped her muzzle, as if to ease his concerns. She knew it was fruitless but at least it was something. Her paw lifted to the other side of his face, rubbing the grey stripe there. "Hey, things will pull through, okay?" Memories didn't have to be sad, but if he continued his train of thought, that's all he'd ever see of it. Misery. She nuzzled against his neck, trying to draw his mind back to his body. Back to the present.

He grunted in reply to Setsumi's words... but when she rubbed her paw against his cheek... surprisingly he leaned into it and practicly purred. It seemed that Setsumi found the spot. His previous seemed to melt away... atleast to a more tolerable level as Darkfeather started to relax... his posture being less rigid. He really could be a big baby sometimes if prompted in the right way.

That little feat earned a smile from the feathered female. And here she thought he'd be cold to the world, returning only when he wished it. "Well I never knew." That's something she'd have to file away, his sensitive stripes. And who knew birds purred? Setsumi thought it sounded nice. She felt his form relax, and she pulled away from the nuzzling, a smile on her face. "That's much better." She was glad he was willing to show such a side, all the more that she was one of the few allowed to see it.

It wasn't a purr so much as a soft cooing, really. But yes.. lots of birds like to have their heads scratched, and he wasn't any different. His stripes were about the area his ears use to be when he was a bird, also. But yes... he enjoyed the attention very much. His eyes closed as he continued to relax.

Green eyes watched and learned as Darkfeather continued to relax. She could guess the only time he relaxed was when he slept. But how often did he do that? And how soundly? Setsumi shook her head with a chuckle, but kept her paw moving. "Do you need a nap, Darkfeather?" After that flight, perhaps. Setsumi blinked suddenly, her paw slowing as she recalled the trip. She hadn't seen Ronan's pelt at all. How far off had he already gone?

"Hm..." Eyes opened slightly at her question, Darkfeather's ears twitching a little when Setsumi's paw slowed. "Perhaps... it will be dark soon anyway." Gaze lifting as he looked to the sky where it was starting to turn colors as the sun began to set. Sighing heavily, he let himself lay down on the sand, making himself comfortable. "What are you thinking about?" he then asked, having noticed her lull in movement as her mind wandered somewhere else.

With a nod, she stepped back some as Darkfeather reclined into the sand. Dark soon? Her gaze turned to the sky and water, seeing they both had blended into deep burning colors. Time had literally flown by. Setsumi sat back in the sand, her tails curling as her thoughts continued on her friend. A half tilt towards Darkfeather, before she turned to look at the palms. "Just where my friend had gone. He didn't say before we parted." It just felt...strange. To be out traveling with another, and Ronan was nowhere in sight. She knew he was fine, it was just her own perspective on things.
