Safi himself had often thanked the fates he had wings; how else would he keep balanced, fly, move quickly, emote, or reach things in high places? With a lot more difficulty, that much was certain. And they had other perks beyond the merely functional...like looking neat, or keeping him warm. Very practical.
For other reasons, too. Alighting once again upon the bottom of the river, Safi leaned close and carefully hooked the clinging hairs of Wadi's muzzle with the strong leading feathers on the edge of his wing. Carefully, carefully, he untangled the hairs, drawing them out and then tucking them neatly behind Wadi's ear for good measure. "There we go, that ought to help you out." Though he probably kingered a bit longer than was necessary for the completion of the task, in the end the results were good. "Try not to eat your hair anymore, otherwise I might have to take drastice measures to keep you orderly."

"I wasn't trying to.." He shook his head slightly and settled his mane somewhere that wouldn't bother him unless he stuck his head under water again.
"It doesn't taste all that good. I'd rather eat flowers" Which he didn't like all that much but it was a lot better than his own hair. "Thanks though" He remembered to thank the other stallion before he turned out rude or something.

"I know, I know, you were just successful." As a parent, that was something he'd heard more than once before; for that matter, it was something he'd USED more than once before, but who was keeping track? "And no problem. I'm happy to serve, and all that good stuff."
He was happy to float, as well, though, and having done his good deed for the hour, he flopped backwards again to do just that, his striped mane and tail floating about like seaweed on the water. "Well, knock yourself out with that bathing!"

"You look silly like that ya know..." He almost laughed at the way Safi looked while floating around like that. "Good silly .. not bad silly..." After thinking about that for a moment he had to correct himself. It was silly but it wasn't something bad.
Shaking his head he soaked himself in the water before he trotted out enough that he could shake most of the water and dust off himself.

"Yeah well...Silly is what I do. You ought to know that by now."
Safi remained in teh water a bit longer than Wadi, enjoying himself by capering about this way and that in teh water in a fashion that could almost be called foal-like. While he wasn't a GREAT swimmer, there was something rather pleasant about the water.
Though he did look out at the other stallion as he stood on the shore. What, Safi wondered, were Wadi's plans now. "So, got anything else in that mind of yours you want to do? Or is this the time where we wing it, or the time where we part ways?" This last was said with a nod skywards, where the sky was beginning to darken as the sun sank. "Your court, m'dear."

He looked up at the darkening sky and scrunched his nose. "I ...i should get home before someone worries. Or before something tries to eat me along the way."
Even if he wanted to stay with Safi more he knew the other Stallion didn't want to get bombarded by his whole family. He understood a little, he wouldn't want to have that many others asking questions.

Something, indeed. Chuckling at that, Safi nodded, fully understanding why Wadi would want to spend as little time in the woods as possible. Night was scary, and all that. And even though he'd like it if Wadi would stay, he understood also the need to make it back to what was safe, secure.
That in mind, he waded out of the water over to the stallion, sweeping him a full-wing bow. "Well, I had a great day today, Wadi, and hopefully you enjoyed yourself as well. Who knows, maybe we'll even be able to actually see each other again WITHOUT weeks passing in the interim." Or so Safi could hope, right?
"Have a safe trip home, ok?" With that, Safi straightened up, looking at Wadi for a moment before suddenly leaning in and giving the other stallion a nuzzle. Just a little one. "You don't make it back, I'll be depressed."

He was slightly surprised at the nuzzle but didn't pull back from it. "I'll run fast.... since i can and all." That would get him home and then no one would worry.
"You could.... come by the lake some time? Maybe if you've got the time?" It was hard searching for Safi since the other stallion didn't stay in one place all that long. The wings made things a little harder too.

"Well, have a good run, Wadi, and don't worry. I owe the lake a visit anyway, so I'll see what I can do about squeezing you in on the side. Or something. Because staring at the lake is very fascinating, of course."
And he was a mongoose. But hopefully by now, Wadi was at least slightly familiar with his sense of humor and wouldn't take him seriously.
