"Just so long as they're hidden," Kaome said. She the looked around and scratched her head. "Now where did the old man say the rowan tree was?..." Ryu walked up to the man who up until now had stayed silent and sniffed the edge of his cloak.

Brian was almost to the tree that his master had sent him to. This man was supposed to be able to teach him some ways to control his curse. Or gift. Whatever his master had wanted, he said that Brian could find it at this rowan tree. He finally made it to the tree, and sat down and waited for the tree's occupant.

Kaori scowled at Rowan and attempted to grab the purse back; unfortunately, as he was tall and holding it aloft, she couldn't reach it. "I'm coming with you, or wasn't that obvious from the fact that I moved over here? Give them back." She pointedly didn't look at the young man. His brutal disposal of the bandits had left her slightly queasy.

Rowan: i'll give you the gemstones back now, the money when we get to my house, and the daggers when you leave again.
Ito: that sounds like a fair enough deal to me. although why you refuse to let bladed weapons into your house is beyond me.

Kaome walked up to the other three and asked, "I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm lost. I was told to seek a rowan tree, but was only told that it was in the woods. Do you know where it is?" Ryu moved from one person to another, sniffing at their clothing. He stopped at the older man and sat down by his side, whining for his attention.

Kaori shot a quick look from the girl to Rowan, scowling. "Exactly how many people are you collecting?" She didn't plan on staying the whole time; unless he hid her stuff in some magically untraceable place, she'd have her things and get out of there withing a few hours. She held out her hands for the gems, raising her eyebrows.

Rowan leans down and scratches Ryu behind the ears affectionately.
Rowan: I do know where the tree you seek is. It is the tallest tree in the deep forest. towering over all the other trees around it. But why do you want to go there?

"Most places would not let me in due to Ryu. They don't want a wolf in their stores or inns. I have traveled all day and have been turned out because of him. But he is my partner, I don't want to leave him behind just so that I can have a place to eat and sleep." Kaome explained. Ryu sighed at the scratches and an almost puppish look came across his featurs. "Though if you continue as you are he may end up following you." Kaome stated with a smile.

Oh, dear Ancient... You do not truly think yourself so guile... Do you? If the Darkness had a voice, it would have sighed then, but ethereal beings like itself have naught but conscience-- the awareness of existence-- and their own thoughts. Of course, they did play their part in the world. The Darkness, the conscience which referred to itself by that name, did more than his fair share of participating. He was skillful at... bending the rules, so to speak. He would bend ANY rule for her.
And yes, it referred to itself as HE. A male; the dominant gender of those times, and seemingly for all to come...

Kaori suddenly shuddered, feeling strangely like some invisible hand had passed just above her skull, like someone petting a cat. Shaking her head, she pushed the feeling aside, just as she always did when something like that happened, and snapped her fingers in front of Rowan's face. "Gems please. Unless you're going back on your word." Not that I could stop you if you did, she added in her mind.

Rowan: then you may come with us, but i warn you that i do not allow any bladed weapons inside my house. you will have to give them to me for safe keeping if you wish to enter. They would be returned to you upon your departure.

"You live in the tree?" Kaome knew it was rude but she couldn't help but stare at the man. "You barely know me and your letting in your home. On the conditiong of leaving my weapons with you, but you don't know if I can kill someone without weapons. And Ryu could easily attack you if I command it." She wasn't used to beaing so easly welcomed into someone's home even before Ryu started following her. It shoked her that he was so welcoming, even with the strange condition of letting him hold her swords.

Kaori had officially put up with enough. "Right. If you're going to ignore me, keep my stuff. You all have a fantastic slumber party, or whatever it is you're doing." With that, she stalked off, slipping around a corner. "Fat lot of help you were," she snapped at the shadow of an abandoned cart, more out of nervousness than anything else. "Now I'm going to have to pull twice as many jobs for a week."

Rowan walks around the corner and spies kaori walking away.
Rowan: kaori!, Would you be looking for something like this?
Rowan holds a money bag that is full to the brim with gold and silver pieces, a tempting offer for anyone.
