Aphis raised an eyebrow at the two on the couch. They seemed so peaceful there. Aph exchanged a glance with Lil. "You can stay here and watch TV with them if you like, I'm going to go upstairs and prepare the painting things for them." He smiled and took another bite of his sandwich, heading for the stairs.

Rivener hardly paid the boy any attention. He just glanced over for a moment once the commercial started. "Hunh? Eating?" he repeated, not knowing what has been said.

Lillian weighed her options once Aphismet headed for the stairs. She could either follow him or sit with the two couch potatoes and become so engrossed in the TV you forget the world around you. "Umm...I'll come with you." Tyson and Rivener were doing fine on their own, and they seemed to be enjoying the Mythbusters episode. Even if Tyson and she had already seen it a couple of times before.

Tyson's eyes fluttered in question before he realized that Rivener had missed his words entirely. "I meant that when you can eat solid food, I will make you an icecream sandwich. They are too good for you not to try one." He told him, basically repeating what he had just said but not as complex or drawn out. The tyke then looked back to the screen, his nose scrunching up when he frowned at it. "Ya know, I really don't like commericals....especially ones about cleaning stuff or buying a car."

Aphi turned when Lil offered to come with, slowing his step so that she could catch up. "Ok, but I won't be doing anything interesting up here," he warned her with a smile.

The man quickly led the way to the painting room. The many windows made it flood with perfect natural light, a wonderful place to paint. The view through those windows was also quite nice, the large back yard spreading out below, the large tree in the corner of the lot, and the thick forest beyond. All green, lush, beautiful. Aphismet often painted it.

The man began by putting away all the things that already cluttered the room. He slid a few fresh paintings of his and Riv's into the drying stand, and picked up the easels, tucking them into a corner. "Since you're here, can I ask you to help me put away all the paints?" he asked, pointing at the many small containers that were lying around the room. He and Rivener were both incredibly messy when it came to painting.

Riv scrunched his nose. He had absolutely no intention of eating something cold, but he might as well not say that. Who knew what he'd like when he grew up. "Er, thanks," he offered offhandishly. He turned his attention back to the TV when Tyson spoke again. "Commercials are nice if they're about movies that are gonna come out. Otherwise, I don't like em either. Oh, have you ever been to a movie theatre?" Rivener asked, suddenly interested. "I've never been to one, and I'd really like to know what it's like. It must be really cool to watch something on that giant screen, with the surround sound..." He looked off into the distance, vaguely imagining how awesome it would be.

"Ah well, I don't mind just getting a better look." Lillian told Aphismet as they climbed the stairs. Once they reached their destination, it was clear that Lillian had expected a simple normally lit room with maybe two easels and a stack of boxes filled with paint and utensils. What she entered upon was a scene from a movie, the windows and the sceneary just too magnificent to be real. Perhaps, Lil thought, they too had a room like this in their home but now it had been hidden under all the clutter?

"It's beautiful, Aphismet." The teenager told her friend after regaining control of her voice. "I feel like I'm on a set in the movies, or atleast taken back in time of couple hundred years."

The young painter didn't need to ask Lillian twice to help him clean up. She was picking up the containers and stacking them neatly where they belonged lickety spilt. Just because her home messy didn't mean that Lil herself was, she just wasn't able to keep up with the work that was needed on a day to day basis.

Tyson gasped in shock at Rivener. The poor guy had never been to a movie theatre before!? "Of course I've been to one! It's pretty neat, Rivener. The screen is huge and it streches out from wall to wall with the volume being turned as high as it can go. The characters aren't as small as they are on tv either, they can get as big as the screen sometimes." The child explained while using his hands to gesture as to how enormous the threatre seemed to be.

It didn't take too long for an idea to spark in Tyson's head. A perfect idea that would surely make Rivener happy. "Hey! I know! You and I should go see a movie sometime in the theatre. I'm sure Aphi would let you go. We just need to know a good movie to see."

Aphismet laughed. "A few hundred years?" He stood up and looked around, trying to see it from another perspective. It was true that the house was OLD, close to 150 years... And the setting was indeed a timeless thing, beautiful and picture-perfect. "You're right, it is like a movie set, isn't it? I suppose that's why I like to paint it so much." He grinned.

Rivener glanced over at the boy, who was getting a little abrasive with his wide movements. Perhaps Riv shouldn't have encouraged him along with so much conversation. Still, he wouldn't say anything. Maybe this was just a tiny slip-up.

"I dunno. Do you talk during the movie?" he asked, an honest question. He didn't want to go see a film with someone who'd be whispering things at him throughout. "And besides, you probably wouldn't be allowed to see the movies I wanna see. Like, action films or horror movies." He looked a little smug, knowing that he looked old enough to get in despite his true age. Besides, who would card a floating torso?

"Well, a place like this must bring you artists that inspiration you search for all the time." Lillian walked over to the window, her hands holding a couple of paint bottles she hadn't put away yet. "I could loose myself just staring out this window for hours. That looks like a nice forest to explore over there, have you guys been in there before?" She asked, squinting her eyes as though they were going to let her see further into the woods and spot whatever could be lurking in the foliage.

Tyson answered Rivener's question with a shake of his head. "Nope, I'm really quiet." He reassured the other as calmly and truthful sounding as he could whilst sitting back into the couch. It seemed that he had notice his slip of energy, but quickly had begun to mend it before it grew worse. "Anyways, do you really think Aphismet would let you go nd see those movies? You might be able to get in, but you would either have to show ID or go with an adult." Yep, Tyson knew the drill of checking ID's since he and Lil would always get stuck in line behind the kids who were trying to get into R rated movies. What a mess that could become!

Aphismet winced at that question. "Um, yeah, we've been in there. It IS nice, very peaceful, gorgeous... But we don't go in after dark. There are a... A ton of ghosts and things in there." He'd considered changing his story half-way through, suddenly noticing that he possibly shouldn't be declaring to a kid that this place was quite haunted. Even if the kid in question was definately quite mature for her age. "They're not all nice. But no worries, they stay over there."

Well, except for Edgar, but that was another story he wasn't about to tell.

Rivener glanced over at Tyson haughtily. "I look like an adult, they wouldn't even card me, I'm sure. And Aphi would let me see them, he never stopped me from watching those on TV... Why would he not let me see them in the theatre?"

The show had come back on, and Rivener was half paying attention to it, half still talking to Tyson.

Lillian almost laughed when he mentioned ghosts but before her giggles could escape they ran into a road block halfway up her throat. The second that it dawned upon the young teen that Aphismet was being serious, Lil's response was what someone would label as sad. Instead of a snappy comment, one that would either bring laughs or discussion, all she could muster was a idiotic sounding sputter a long with the shake of her head.

How did Aphi think she would respond to that? Unless of course Aphismet was merely joking and could manage to hold firmly onto his poker face.

"Aphi, are you trying to pull one over on me? Ghosts? Please! If you're squirreling something away back there then just say so and don't make up weird excuses." She didn't even know if it these ghosts were real and already she was suffering from cold shivers down the back.

Tyson frowned at the raevan and swallowed his final piece of icecream cookie sandwich. "Well...why do you like those movies? Don't they scare you?" Tyson looked up at Rivener with a quizzical look. He looked away though as soon as the commericals clicked off and their show came back on. "Does Aphi even know you watch them?" The child's final words shrunk to the level of a whisper, his attention on their current subject dwindling immensely thanks to the experiment being performed on the tele.

Aphismet smiled sheepishly. "S-seriously, do you think I'm the type of person who'd say something like that just to scare people? No, I'm being serious! There ARE ghosts in there, if you don't believe me ask anyone else who lives here. Eiry kinda attracts them, seeing as he's part ghost himself..." He walked over to the girl and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry about it, it's not so bad once you're used to it. They hardly bother me at all anymore."

Of course he wouldn't be mentioning the handful of ghosts who lived IN the house, even if they were all rather nice... He didn't want to scare the poor girl more than he already had.

"Besides, if any of them bother us, Eiry is able to talk to them and can make them go away. So there's nothing to fear!"

Rivener shrugged as he attempted to listen to the show, only replying once the people weren't speaking anymore, or another kind of lull happened in the program. "They don't scare me. Life is violent. TV just shows it." Riv had already run into quite a bit of violence himself.

"As for Aphi, he never really pays any attention to what I watch. He's not my boss. He's gone a lot anyway so if he said no I'd just wait til he leaves and then watch them." He shrugged again. "Do they scare YOU?" he asked, smug, glancing over.

Lillian looked up at Aphismet uneasily. To hear these things, that ghosts existed was absolutely nuts! Ghosts weren't real. They were told as stories. Just foolish tales to keep you awake at night for the thrill of being scared.

There was no reassurance for the teen after Aphi's weak smile along with his gentle hand. The older man said it himself, he wasn't the type of person to pull the wool over another's eyes. It didn't matter how badly Lillian wanted it to be a joke, Aphismet was telling her the truth

"Well...this is kind of spooky. Do any of them live in your house? Can they hear us right now?" As she asked Lil didn't waste any time looking around the paint room incase anything was watching them. Sure Eiry could talk to them if they gave them trouble, but the will o wisp raevan wasn't around anymore. Could the ghosts see that? Did that mean they'd start trouble? If so, it wouldn't be good for her nor Aphi, since all horror movies proved that you could not fight back against a ghost.

Tyson remained quiet throughout Rivener's on-again-off-again chit chat throughout the tv program. It was only when he was addressed personally that he perked up and tore his eyes away from the television screen.

"Well...of course they do." If Rivener expected Tyson to cower at his answer or appear embarrassed than his thoughts were far from the truth. Rather the child looked confident and held a glint of pride in his eyes over what he had said. "I don't like violence, I don't like seeing people hurt. You know, even if life is violent that doesn't mean that I need to watch shows that are too. TV was made to let us leave our world and go into another. In my world, I want one where I don't have to worry about being hurt or being afraid of bad people." The child's words were unusually deep, the babbling Rivener was used to disappearing briefly as Tyson shared his belief.

Maybe it was all the time he was spending with Lillian and that gave him the extended vocab? Or perhaps, under the giddy, overwhelming, and anxious child many people knew the lad as; a calm and intellectual youth laid hidden beneath the many layers that is Tyson.

Aphismet chuckled, bracing himself for something he hardly ever did: lie outright.

"Oh, no, there are no ghosts in the house. They stay outside." A keen ear, used to detecting such things, might easily tell this was a lie, but it was passable to a casual listener. "I'm sorry I said anything. Here, let's get the paper and paint out for the boys and then we can go back downstairs, okay?" He walked over to the closet and opened it, pulling out the newsprint pads and a couple of wood-backed easels.

Rivener lifted an eyebrow as he listened. The kid was young, so it would make sense that he'd try to escape the world through TV instead of experience the reality of it like Riv did. For Rivener, TV was the only way he could learn the world, seeing as he wasn't quite able or allowed to go out there himself and see the whole thing. Violence had just been a part of the real world.

"Well, sounds like it would be boring," Rivener replied. "A world where everything was happy and friendly all the time?" He crossed his arms. "Booooring."

For a moment he wondered what that said about him, that he wanted, no, NEEDED violence in his life. Shaking his head, Riv stubbornly decided to ignore the inward question.

Lillian eyed Aphismet for a brief moment, her look that of suspicioun and unease. She had no knowledge that Aphismet's words were untrue. It was the idea that ghouls and creepers lurked around her older friend's home that pulled at her nerves.

With a heavy sigh the tension that had built along Lillian's features relaxed and caused her face to soften. "Well....if you say so." She knew that it was wrong of her to suspect Aphismet was telling her lies. The idea of ghosts appearing in the house's corridors was silly and the teenager knew that she shouldn't fear walking around alone.

After her fears set themselves aside, Lillian placed her thoughts on the simple task at hand. "Yeah, I bet those two are wondering what's taking us so long." To help, she took one of the easels to lighten Aphismet's load and the stack of newsprint pads. To her sudden dismay though, the poor girl nearly dropped the objects when she realized that the board wasn't as light as she would have liked. "Whoops." She frowned and pulled the board back up against her side rather than tipping forward towards the floor. "Caught me by surprise." The young woman reassured as quickly as she could whilst getting right to work on setting up a painting area.

Tyson frowned at Rivener's reply and crossed his own arms, mimicking the others motions without fully realizing it. "Pfft. That is NOT boring Rivener! That is good! That means the people you like won't get hurt!"

Although a world without chaos did mean a world without heroes. For if there was no trouble, then regular heroes and superheroes alike would cease to exist. The boy didn't want that did he?

"Why do you like violence so much anyways? Is it because you have the power to stop it?" Since Rivener did look strong the raevan must've put his strength to use at one point. The boy could only hope as he thought over Rivener's hero potential that the other wasn't becoming too annoyed with him. They already had come so far in just a day, it would be terrible of Tyson to halt their budding friendship because he couldn't keep his trap closed long enough to watch thirty minutes of tv.

Aphismet was more than relieved when Lilias simply let the ghost subject drop. He hadn't meant to scare her! He should learn not to mention that kind of thing to people.

Aphi chuckled as Lil almost dropped the easel. He'd reached over to help her, and in so doing he'd almost dropped everything as well. The man straightened and followed Lil to where she was placing her wooden cargo, setting up the other easel next to it at an angle.

A few paint pots were placed on each wooden ledge, the newsprint pads were slung up on the support piece, and a small stool was placed between the two stations, with a large bucket of water for the boys to wash their brushes (if they chose to use them).

"There," Aphi said, stepping back and admiring their setup with hands on his hips. "All done. Ready to go down?"

Rivener looked over at the kid, who was starting to talk a bit too much, but it was fun to answer questions and feel like he was so admired. That is, as long as Tyson wasn't being too bubbly about it.

"Well, I think it would be boring. I don't like people I love to be hurt, but I want to feel some excitement once in a while." When Tyson continued, Riv smiled, latching onto that easy explanation for his love of violence. "I DO have the power to stop it. More than humans anyway. I already saved Isi once." He puffed up slightly at the admission, one he didn't normally brag about. "I'm really strong, and I can make poison." He flexed his wings, showing off a bit.

He smirked, knowing that he was acting like an idiot, preening like this in front of a child, but it was always nice to have someone notice that he was impressive.

Lillian laughed at the sight of Aphismet balancing out his load of equipment and still manage to help her. "Thanks." She mentioned as they set up the work space for the tv bugs downstairs.

She took a step back when they finished, dusted her hands off, mimicked Aphismet in the placement of his hands, and smiled proudly at their accomplishment. "It looks great!" Lillian rejoiced as she too admired their handy work. Of course the obvious outcome of their neat and tidy set up had to be stated before they left it in the hands of Tyson and Rivener. "And to think they'll come up here, make a mess, and we'll be cleaning it up all over again." That's how these kinds of activities seemed to go for her atleast.

"Ah well, yeah, let's head down and tell them they can have at it now." With that Lillian motioned for Aphismet to take the lead, "After you."

Tyson sighed, even he could see it was too grea tof a struggle to prove his idea to Rivener. Too bad the thing he disliked so much was a topic Rivener would actually talk with him about.

Although, Rivener's wording of his rescue did perk his interest, "You SAVED Isi? What happened?" Well, he may not have liked violence but if you counter acted it with a heroic deed must've made it okay to talk about.
"I know you're really strong, so did you beat the bad guy up? Or did you poison them?"

The raevan was getting noticed alright, Tyson couldn't help but stare in awe at the other to know that he had saved someones life. He had been right, the other was a hero afterall! Rivener just didn't like to talk about it because he must like the idea of keeping it on the down low.

Aphismet gave an exaggerated bow, and walked ahead of Lil, leading the way down the stairs. "So what shall you and I do while the boys are busy making a mess of themselves? And don't worry, Rivener usually picks up after himself. He might talk Tyson into doing the same." He grinned.

Rivener puffed up slightly. He didn't talk about that time much because, well... Let's just say his story would be altered, for everyone's sake.

"The first time we came here, Isi's crazy grandmother was attacking him. She picked him up and carried him upstairs, she was threatening to hurt him... So I crashed in through the window and poisoned her. Then the cops came and took her away, then Aphi adopted Isi and we moved in for good."

There. No mention that Old Maasi dropped Isi out the window, and certainly no mention that Riv hadn't been aiming for Maasi at all...
