A few hours had passed by the time they reached the oasis. The sun was barring down over head with the ferocity of a hungry lion, and Lains skin burned at the slightest touch. He was very fair skinned for an Elf, and at the moment his flesh had a slide shade of pink where it was exposed.

"I had forgotten just how brutal this desert was." He dismounted Artemis one they had all come to a complete stop at where the border of the oasis made itself known by displaying a bed of thick green grass.

He removed his horses bindings and slid them to the side, letting them lay docile on the fertile ground. This is would be the perfect time for the horses to relax, feed and socialize with one another, while Reina and Lain got a couple of hours of sleep.

The small pond in the center of the oasis was large enough to house all of them at once, but to no surprise, the water was as warm as the sun itself. Lain placed one un-gloved hand into the pond, and said a few choice words, a spell. Instantly the water began to chill. He drank a couple of handfuls before anyone got the chance to do anything to the water, and then walked to a nearby grove of trees for some much need rest and relaxation.

((I'd like to make a Saxon as well, it would be interesting to be on both sides. I've read the updates as well. Now, I shall make my post.))

Upon seeing the magic at work, Thalgarik quickly drank many handfuls of water, then began to fill numerous waterskins afterwards. Upon finishing, he sat under the shade of a nearby tree and contemplated the works of magic. Although he had seen magic before, it was all still a mystery.

As a half-giant, he had only known raw, physical power and the way of the warrior. However, he had once seen a duel between a warrior and a mage. The warrior was defeated before he even unsheathed his sword. This concept frightened Thalgarik to some extent. To think, he could be slain by a simple wave of the hand. Were mages really that much better? Has the path of the warrior come to a stop?

No. Thalgarik would never let such a thing happen. Not in his lifetime, which he was also unsure of. Giants live for many, many years, but would he receive the same blessing? So many questions in his mind left unanswered by the world. One would never suspect Thalgarik to be a thinker, seeing as he was indeed a half-giant. However, he always believed it would be easier to have everyone think he was a stupid giant. They would be in for one hell of a surprise.

Reina looked to the beautiful shaded area, she hadn't passed here before, in fact, she didn't know any places not on the map existed. Quickly, she hopped off of Hades, removed the bags and reigns off him and led him to the water where they could both drink from. She knelt down on the springy grass, dipping her hands in and taking hearty gulps, refilling her canaster as well as Hades'. After she had refreshed herself, she sent Hades off with Artemis to relax and gather their strengths for the trip still ahead.

Reina pulled the strings from her leather vested top, pulling it apart and setting it onto the grass, then did the same with her top, sliding it off her head, and her leather pants and boots as well, gathering her clothes in a pile before diving into the water. Reina was used to being around the guys, so she didn't feel much shame about her body, not like normal women would anyway.

The water was cool, thanks to Lain and it was relaxing, massaging her skin and swaying her hair every which way, very elegantly. She felt light, she felt like a delicate feather wafting in the wind, which was a comforting feeling, one she hadn't felt in a while. Surfacing to the top, she shook her head free of the extra water, letting her hair stick to her fack and body.

"Ah, nice cool baths, just what a girl needs to relax herself. It's a paradise away from home."

Lain watched her with lustful eyes. Sure he had seen women naked before, plenty of them, but none had possessed the physique of the woman he called comrade. None peeked his interest as much as she had captivated him either. But of course, Reina had no idea, and if she did, it was not from his lips that she learned his desires.

The grass was cool under the overhanging trees, inviting enough for Lain to remove his shirt, pulling it over his head, his light hair dancing as it fell in place once the garment was completely removed and discarded.

He would partake in the water sooner or later, but for now, he would let Reina have her fun, while he sat in the shade and went over his thoughts with a fine tooth comb.

The grass, though cool to the touch, gently scratched at his flesh as he made a bed of it. One leg was bent, and his foot closer to his torso then his other, outstretched legs. His leather pants cooled as well, felt pleasant against his skin, and not the least bit uncomfortable.

Another reason why he kept his pants on was because it was a casual way to stay armed. His dagger was strapped to his hip. He couldn't completely let his guard down, not with a stranger in the midst of them.

Ryn followed the other three to the oasis in silence, his thoughts simple and to the point. He was thinking about money, which was all that really mattered to him, and he was being payed money to make sure that these three would make it to the end of the journey, and rescue the Queen. He cared little if they succeeded, except for the fact that if they failed, he lost money.

Ryn now sat on the bank of the pool, his leather crimson leather garments covering most of his skin, protecting it from the desert sun. He didn't pay any attention to the three as they climbed into the water, his eyes constantly on the lookout for foes.

Yawning, he reached inside his shirt, pulling a small vial from an inner pocket, which he mixed with a small amount of water in his water jacket. After he was done, he took a sip of the now lemon flavored water, before asking the three,"Which way were you planning on going?"

Thalgarik was much into his thoughts and did not notice the naked Reina, the peeping Lain, and the inquisitive Ryn. Knowing that mages had the upperhand was an obstacle in his path. There had to be a way for him to obtain the power to defeat mages. It would be one less thing to fear in this world and there were indeed many things to fear.

Regardless, Thalgarik knew that strength alone would not defeat a mage. Is there perhaps a technique? What good would a technique do? He had seen mages move objects without even touching them. What would stop them from doing the same to a person?

After quite some time, Thalgarik had come to a conclusion: an item. A trinket or artifact that had the power to defeat the mage, or at least protect the user from magic. With such an item in his possession, he could defeat mages in combat without fear of their magic. However, if such an object exists, where would it be?

With a splash in their direction, Reina shook her hair free of the droplets of water, climbing back out of the fresh spring and rung her hair out. She sat on the grass, reaching for her clothes and padding them off of sand and debris, so that they were at least clean enough for her to wear.

After suiting up, lacing the strings back to her vest and tying her leather boots, she turned towards Ryn and gave a slight yawn.

"We're heading east, past the desert. It's a long journey so if you plan on joining us, you're better off preparing yourself for the worst of outcomes." Reina set her hair behind her, in a losse pigtail letting free strands grace her gentle looking face. She didn't mind the company, in fact, she preferred it to riding alone with no one to socialize with. "The water is great too, so if you're planning on bathing, I suggest you do it now." Hades lift his head, only for a moment to look at her, and make sure she was ok. Reina returned to her horse, and rubbed his belly before hugging his neck and whispering a few words to him.

Her eyes moved over to Thal, he seemed lost in his own world, and he had not said much of anything since they left. She waved an arm over in his direction, and when he did not react, she crossed her arms and huffed, moving over to Lain and sat at his side. "Looks like Thal's in his own world, I'll wait till he stops day dreaming to talk to him." From her pouch, she took out a medium sized fruit that grew on one of the trees. She unsheathed her sword, halfway before setting the fruit underneath the blade and pushing upwards to slice it in half. "I found this fruit on that tree near the far side of the spring, it looks good, do you want some?" Taking the other half, she was about to take a bite and noticed, it was rude of her not to offer the others.

Reina sighed, getting back up to her feet and walked to the opposite side of the lake, reaching for her sword and pulled it out of it's sheath, knocking one of them down into her hand where she cut it in half once more. She walked to Thal, placed the piece in his hand and then handed the other half to Ryn. "I don't know if you guys eat exotic fruit you know nothing about, but what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger I always say." She winked to the men, taking her share and sliding the fruit to her mouth, feeling the liquid of it's nectar pour past her lips, and soothe her throat. It had a very sweet and rich taste, to Reina, it was delicious.

Thalgarik came back to reality and looked at the fruit in his hand. He ate it quickly and it was indeed good. It was better than the food he used to eat when he was a child, such as boar, mammoth, and even human. After he finished the fruit, he stood up and headed towards the water.

Once at the edge, he stripped himself of his armor and clothes, and revealed his massive body.

Tan was his skin as the rays on sun touched it, showing every detail in his chisled physique. His body was riddled with scar, gashes, and wounds, the punishment of being a half-breed. He stepped into the water and it came up to his waist. Thalgarik sighed and sat down, relaxing in the cool waters.

Ryn took the piece of fruit silently, carefully pulling out another small vial from his vest, and dripping a single drop of the liquid on the fruit. He waited a second before returning the vial to its hidden pocket. He took a bite of the fruit. It was quite rich, and sweet, which didn't really suit Ryn, but he thought it would be rude to not eat it, now that he had taken a bite of it.

He sighed before saying,"I'll stay out of the water, Thank you."

He carefully twitched his left wrist, his blade flicking into his palm, and dug into the fruit, pulling out the tiny seeds, and chewing on them. He twitched his head constantly, flicking his hair out of his eyes, whenever it was blown there by the wind, watching the three he had been hired to work beside.

"Suit yourself, but the water is perfect." Reina stretched some before leaning her back on the tree, catching the few rays that shone through the trees, taking in a deep breath, inhaling all of the oxygen that filled her lungs. "We shouldn't dally here for too long, we still have to reach Serionia within a decent amount of time. I also doubt that we want to give the Saxons any reason to believe we're not serious about pursuing them to battle." Reina adjusted herself under the tree, closing her eyes, and resting, feeling at peace with everything around her, however keeping a firm hand on her sword, should an emergency arrive.

Lain pulled a bit of dry meat from a pouch that had been stored in a bundle along with various other supplies he knew he would need on the journey between Camelot and Serionia. He had switched his gaze from Reina after a short while, and enjoyed his small meal. Almonds and dried fruit were also in a pouch, and he took a few bites before deciding his stomach was indeed full enough to last him the rest of the way through the desert.

He had been silent the entire while, letting Reina do all the talking. He was too lost in his thoughts to decipher anything they were saying and eventually gave up trying. Artemis had settled next to Lain, and eh did not hesitate in giving the steed a snack on some dry fruit and nuts, patting him on the snout as he munched on the trail mix he was offered.

"Don't worry, we'll be out of here before you know it, and when we finally get to the city, I don't plan on leaving right away, I have some things I need to take care of." One of the reasons Lain had wanted to cut through Serionia was because he wanted to revisit the place of his birth, the first time in a long time. He sighed more to himself than the situation at hand.

After slipping on his shirt, and repacking everything onto Artemis' back, he mounted his horse and headed East. "We should make it to Serionia around midnight, but thats without any stops along the way." Of course, if they didn't take another stop before reaching the mountain city, they would have to stay in Serionia for a couple of days to catch up on sleep and to also double up on supplies.
