Katane turned fully around. It was obvious that there seemed to be no chance of hiding now, and she really wanted to see this human-thing. She desperately wanted to say "hi" or something the lighten the moment, but she bit her lip, fearful of being scolded. This was the closest she had ever gotten to a human, but the event was sadly disapointing. He was encased in metal instead of being in the open, and though he seemed polite, she got the feeling he didn't want to be friends. She studied him openly with her gaze, curiousity evident in every feature.

Kyraa peered up the staircase, looking vainly at the landing. The winds blew air into the tower, and the sound of a man reached the white gargoyle's ears. Immediately, her thoughts turned to the warning she had been given not even a moment ago. This man came out of nowhere. Was it Kyraa's fault? She bit back her moan and continued listening to those above her, afraid for her own sake and at the same time ever-wondering. Why was the man there, and why did he sound like the humans in televisions and radios?

Gendou began to feel a bit wary. The one in the doorway was obviously stalling for some reason. He suspected that it was to give the sneaking one time to get closer to him, but there could be other reasons - perhaps more of them were even now making their way up the stairs. He might be able to fight or escape one or two of them, but if a group of them were to charge him, he could be in trouble.
The second one had turned around now. It was smaller than the other two, possibly a female or an immature specimen. Not that he had any idea how their sexuality or aging processes were organized. For all he knew, the males could be smaller and they could be born full-sized. Maybe they were carved from stone whole-cloth and brought to life through an arcane rite. At this point, anything was possible.
"I'm curious about your people," he said, knowing that the closer he stuck to the truth, the more trust he could gain. He hoped he wasn't underestimating the creatures to greatly.

After a bit of staring, she could hold it in no longer. She would probably regret this later, but....
"You look funny. What's with all the metal? Reminds me of Darth Vader. Is there something wrong with your skin or something?"

Great, just what we need. Researchers.
Alliance prepared to further stall the whatever-it-was, when the voice of one of the hatchlings rang out.
She froze, horror-stricken. Katane! What the hell are you doing?!?
She looked up at the girl's regular perch. Sure enough, she was right out there in the open, not a care to the possible dangers.
Alliance flared her wings and prepared to leap out the door.

In the depths of the church top, far from the clear air and cooling darkness that triggered a gargoyle to awaken, Deoridhe was slowly stirring out of sleep. She had fallen asleep in the corner of an interior room, curled behind some boxes and half in a builtin cupboard, like a frightened cat. This made the usual stretch and wake more difficult; before she was fully cogniscent she had already managed to bump her head twice on the top of the cupboard.
Deoridhe crawled backwards out of the cupboard, pausing when the wings on her head caught against the edge and shifting them free with a claw. She slowly stood, then finally stretched as far as she was able to in the small room, the two sets of wings on her back brushing the walls to either side. Pausing at the door, she listened carefully - quietly cursing her relatively poor hearing. The rooms nearby were silent... was she the first awake? Was Alliance angry with her? She hadn't ment to scare her - it's just the human hatchlings were so loud. Had they all left without telling her?
She trembled at the thought; she couldn't live alone. She couldn't hunt or forage like they did, not here surrounded by humans!
Tucking her wings back behind her, Deoridhe crept into the kitchen, her claws clicking on the floor. It was also silent here, but there was a plate of bacon and eggs on the counter and several plates. People had been here, cooked food, and it was still warm. Not abandoned, then.
Almost weak with relief, Deoridhe picked up several strips of bacon in her claws and took a large bite out of one of them, then glanced around suspiciously to see if anyone laughed, or jumped out of hiding. The other hatchlings loved to play tricks; maybe that's what was going on.
Still, stillness throughout the rookery.
Curiously, Deoridhe crept toward the staircase that lead to the roof, stopping a little behind Kyraa and craining her neck. "Are we waiting for someone?" Not realizing Gendou is there, her volume is suitable for normal conversation.

The pale hatchling's nerves were on edge by now. For all she knew, that man was killing Ally and Ms. Ruevian, and she was just-- Was that Katane? Is she out of her mind? It was one thing to watch humans, but to talk to them...
Kyraa's focus was so set on the people above her that she didn't hear the slight sounds behind her. Deo snuck up on her and spoke quite calmly and quite loudly. Terror stricken, Kyraa screamed before she could manage to get her hands over her mouth. She looked up at Deo and relaxed, leaning against a wall before the fact she just yelped at the top of her lungs sunk in. Her eyes widened as large as saucepans at the realization, and she grabbed Deo and ran a few feet away from the staircase. "Ohno. Nonononono... Deo, there's a man up there. And he's not supposed to be. Ohnonono. Ally's going to be so upset. Katane actually spoke to him, and Ally and Ms. Ruevian were going to confront him and they told me to stay down here and now I just ruined everything I'm sure!"

Deoridhe skittered sideways as Kyraa grabbed her, thrown off balance by the sudden movement. Bacon goes one way, Deoridhe goes the other, and her wings flare out to help her keep upright, one of them slamming into the wall as she misjudges the distance, and she tips backwards and lands with a much louder crash on the floor, her head and shoulders impacting the wall hard. "Oooow..." One paw went to rub her aching head, the other braced against the floor to try to keep her wings from bending under themselves and getting damaged from their awkward splayed position.
It took a second for the words to sink in.
Man.
Kyraa said... man.
As in....
Letting out an undignified shriek, every inch of fur on her body standing on end, Deoridhe scrambled further away from the stairs until she hit the corner to one side of the kitchen doorway and could skuttle no further. Far too close to the ground, her wings manage a half curl in to protect the trembling gargoyle, but despite her best efforts to compact herself into a mouse and creep into a hole in the floorboard through pure will, those same wings end up so awkwardly splayed that she takes up most of the hallway - blocking escape into the kitchen.
"H..human? Here?" She attempts to keep her voice low, fearing attracting it's attention, but her words squeak nonetheless.

Ruevian cursed silently at Katane's voice, and almost hissed when Deo's voice wafted up the stairwell. Ugh...son of a... She gritted her teeth, the sharp inciscors bright against the dark pallet of her skin. Now that the intruder was aware of even more of the clan, it was unsure who he'd target. At the thought of the metal behemoth attacking the idiotic hatchling that was waving even now, Ruevian's eyes narrowed and lit up. Abandoning the pretense of stealth, she dashed forward on all fours, strong arms oustretched, talons spread as she lunged toward the metal gargoyle.

Gendou hasn't expected his comment to draw such a response - it seemed that he had no sooner spoken than all hell broke loose, with all three visible creatures seeming to converge on him at once, and the indistinct voices of several others carrying up from the stairwell. He was, undoubtedly, in trouble. Best to escape while he could.
Twisting his body, he brought his arm up, attempting to stop the gray monster from reaching him from behind. His sensors showed that neither the small green one nor the one in the doorway had actually moved toward him, despite his earlier impression. This gave him a bit more time to concentrate on the direct threat posed by the gray one.

"Wait, why are you.....!"
Why are you attacking him? It's all my fault. I had to go and say something, and now she's attacking him. I may never meet another human again. I wonder what Alliance will say?
Katane's thoughts were an emotional blur as she whipped around and stalked off to find a hiding place.

Kyraa started when Deo took the news as she did, and did her best to calm the older hatchling. "Come on, now, Deo. Relax. Ms. Ruevian is up there, and she has the temper of a group of human hatchlings watching a monochrome movie about... 'drinking and driving.'" She waited for Deo to laugh, hoping that her joke would go understood or found funny for once.
The white child went to Deo and tried to get her to raise herself and move into the kitchen. "It will be safer in here, Deo. We can hide and close the door. Turn off the lights so no-one knows we are there. "

Deoridhe's eyes were wide, the whites showing, and she was puffed up to appear twice her normal size. Kyraa's words were a thin tinny sound in her ears, her attention focused on the stairwell down into the new Rookery. It was an alien rookery, far too close to humans, but she had thought it inviolate until that moment.
It wasn't until Kyraa touched her that she even looked at the other gargoyle. Limbs trembling, she rose into a crouch at the other's urging, slinking sideways into the kitchen.
"What if... if it follows?" she asked in a whisper, legs shaking so violently that she had to put her front paws down to keep upright.
Behind her, in the hallway at the bottom of the stairs, strips of bacon formed a silent monument to her passing.

Rather than stopping when the metal gargoyle twisted to face her, Ruevian latched on to the outstretched arm and attempted to slice though the metal with her talons. She barely had a moment to realize that she couldn't tear the material like she could to so many other alloys, before she was forced to leap away to counter whatever attack the intruder was planning next.
She slid backwards, crouched, and flared her wings even more, a fanned warning to the creature that she meant business. She stood slowly, hands curled into claws, and her glowing red eyes stared. She had his attention. Hopefully, the hatchlings and Deo would have time to hide.

Gendou growled in frustration. This had not gone as well as he'd hoped. He would have to try again later. Igniting his engines, he took off vertically into the night sky and disappeared into the clouds.
